I am interested in the history of arranged marriages in India. While the kings conducted Swayam Varam for their doughters, what did the poor families do to get their doughters married?

  Krishna was an invention of the white christian missionaries. There was never any deity by name krishna in hinduism. The christian missionaries invented this fictitious character, which is why so many white xians formed the ISKCON and Hare Krishna movement.
