Today I happened to hear and view Dr.N.V.K.Ashraf's speech and demo on the Miracles in Thirukural.

I was somehow of the impression that the Ashraf who writes in this forum is a 'brahmin boy' writing under a muslim pseudo name ( a typical tamil trait isn't it? - suspecting anyone who talks sense as a brahmin!! :)) ).

So when I saw a notice announcing one 'Dr' Nu.Va.Ka Ashraf is speaking on Thirukural, it somehow struck me that this could be 'our' ashraf! I immediately rushed to the meeting venue and waited for the meeting to commence. When I saw a brahmin enter the stage, I was assured that this is a 'brahminical conspiracy' !!! (another typical tamil trait, suspecting anyone with somewhat fair color as a 'brahmin' and seeing a 'brahminical conspiracy' behind every good effort! ....ofcourse after I confirmed that he was a muslim, I recollected cine actor abbas, he looks like him, but while talking some brahminical ascent is there and at times, he fumbles with his tamil and often switches to fluent english).

Finally, when he spoke ( that was a wonderful speech , genuine from the heart, appealing to the commoner as well as scholar with equal force) , I could see the genuineness (ofcourse he was slightly behaving like a politician, avoiding certain questions, which could make him criticise the blind faith of certain religious fanatics/idiots) in his answers and everyone in the meeting (excepting a muslim friend of mine, who was much upset...).

Finally, the 'nandri navindra' pechalar, mentioned that Ashraf is a malayalee by birth ( i already knew that his wife was a malayalee - she also attended the meeting alongwith ashraf's son - i was trying to see some trace of 'thangal' in her or some links with prophet mohammed - since ashraf once told about that in this forum- but, all I could see was a Tamil/Malayalee/Lakshadweep female and I mentally bowed down to her in respect). It was a surprise to me, that a person who is a non-tamilian by birth( otherwise he is more tamil than most of us) could devote and do research (all along he was talking about 'thalai' 'santham' 'root words' etc etc....i was amazed by his tamil pulamai and arivu) and could master the great Kural.

Finally during the question, answer session[ I couldn't attend it in full , due to prefixed preoccupations and persistant problems via my mobile - so I had to sit near the door - for walking out often), he was mentioning that he is now doing research on Thirumandiram. He also mentioned that he is of the view that Thirukural is a saivite work ( he could see traces of a saivite in Valluvar).

I have seen his site:

http://www.geocities.com/nvkashraf/

I have also seen the various hindu sites praise him:

www.bharatvani.org

www.aagamam.com

www.geocities.com/tamilhindu/articles

www.kalyahindu.de

But, seeing him in person , listening to his narrative, seeing the demo...was really a touching experiance.

Ashraf usually travels around the world (the one who introduced him was mentioning that he is a 'ulagam sutrum vaaliban' and his wife was saying that he will be available in kerala/bangalore till march). I humbly request all Tamils to invite him and organise lectures on the Miracles in Thirukural.

My pranams to Ashraf and I pray to Saint.Thiruvalluvar for blessing him to do this noble work.

Hari Om!
