Kongu Vellala Goundans are sudras. They were known as Asuras in Ramayana. Goundans are backward compared to the Brahmins, Chettiars, Malaysian Tamilians and Singapore Tamilians. There is nothing great to talk about them.

"Vanavarayar" is a honorable title given by the kings in olden days. Kongu vellalar are the caste known as "Kongu Vellir" in Chozla dynasty. They lived in Coimbatore, Erode and Salem district which is called Kongu Nadu.

From the very beginning of Chozla dynasty that is from Karikal Chozlan, kongu vellir are the guys contributed more for the chozla army. Raja Raja Chozlan had two branches of army one is led by "Kaikola" who are now called as Mudaliar or Kaikola mudaliars and the second one is Vellir. Both branches did a lot for the victory of Rajaraja and Rajendra Chozla. Kongu Vellalar are basically agriculturalist and the Kaikolan are in cloth manufacturing industry. So the kings respected both community and respect them equally. No caste is lower and no one is upper. Those varansthiram was invented by "Arians" (bramins) to conquer the dravidian (south indian people) by the name of god. Do you know one crazy thing about the story of gods.

In north India, Lord Siva and Parvathi has only one son Ganesan (Pillayar). But in south India especially in Tamil Nadu we beleive that Murugan is the son of Lord Siva. When the bramins came here the only god worshiped by tamilians is Lord Muruga. So they made a connection between their God and Tamil God and fooled our guys.

Hey Tamizhan
You are right! There is nothing great to talk about Goundens. They have no social status and lack many of the qualities that call for high living. Kindly tell me where the are mentioned in the Ramayana? Their mention in ramayana as sudras is worth noting. Please tell me other references abt them.

Gounders having no social status? hahaha What a joke.
Hi think you are a Fu*ked up Sudra beaten by a gounder.
No community could emulate our social status in kongu area. That's the real reason for your outpour i guess.

Dear Muhurthakaal Members
First of all I wish you all a very Happy and Prosperous New Year. Let 2005 bring all the happiness, health, good spirits and all the best things for all of us.
While we are looking forward towards 2005 and we cannot ignore the effect of Tsunami on the humanity. As you all are aware that so many thousands
of lives were knocked off and millions have become homeless in a matter of few minutes. Many families are suffering from the tidal wave that
swept away their loved ones and homes. We cannot replace what they have lost.
Karnataka Gounder Service Society is planning to contribute to the best of our ability to these people in co-ordination with Kongu Vellalar
Sangangal Kootamaippu. We have decided to mobilize around Rs. 25.00 Lakhs from Karnataka and Tamilnadu and adopt one village.
In this regard, I request you to kindly contribute liberally towards this cause. You may kindly send your contribution by Demand Draft or through
cheque in favour of Karnataka Gounder Service Society. I sincerely believe that everyone of us will not hesitate to contribute to this cause.
You can contribute to weave the renewal of hope and life.

History of vanavarayars- There are basically 2 pangalis. Good one's name is Vanavarayan. Bad one's name is vallavarayan. They both fight for the same gal. Good one gets the gal. Bad one is frustrated but he also manages to find a decent gal. Then bad one plots and spoils the chances of a child for the good one by poisoning the good one's wife.

Good one's wife does some senti stuff and later dies. Now good one -vanavarayar- gets angry and hits the bad one badly. But eventually good one finds a better 'figure' than the first one and live happily ever.So wat r the inferences from this history?
1. There r good and bad ones in every community.
2. Both gud and bad ones will get gals to marry. But gud one will get wat he wanted, bad one will get wat is left.
3. There is always someting gud abt bad things also. For example, gud one got a better figure even if the first 'figure' dies.
4. Bad ones give birth to a child faster than good ones (India may be full of bad ones, i guess)
