It is good that BJP is siding with TN. It is something coming from a Brahmin party.

The ruling BJP at the Centre came out openly in support of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa by slamming Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna in the Cauvery row.

Coming close on the heels of Jayalalithaa's promulgating an Ordinance against conversions, the BJP on Tuesday criticised Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna for resorting to road shows and openly campaigning against the Supreme Court order on the Cauvery issue.

Significantly, the BJP also did not reject Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa's demand of dismissing Karnataka Government for violating the Supreme Court orders. Jayalalithaa has demanded the invoking of Article 356 against Karnataka. What all the BJP had to say was that the "issue was being examined and the party was yet to take a view on it."

On the contrary, BJP Spokesperson Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi came out heavily on Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna's padyatra describing it as a "political drama to divert people's attention on vital issues."

Naqvi said that Krishna's campaign constitutes a challenge to the dignity and majesty of law. "It is a serious issue, the way, Chief Minister Krishna is taking to road shows against the Supreme Court ruling. Appropriate action must be taken by the court," he remarked.

According to the BJP Spokesperson, Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna is holding a constitutional post and his resorting to an open campaign against another constitutional body, is not a healthy precedent.

"The way constitutional norms are being flouted does not augur well for democracy," he remarked. According to Naqvi, such gimmicks by Krishna are being resorted to, merely to cover up his multifarious failings on all other fronts.

His anger was directed not only against Karnataka but also against the Congress-ruled Chief Ministers of Punjab and Chattisgarh, as well. Both Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amrinder Singh and Chattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi had courted arrest on the farmer's issue, which the BJP termed as "unwarranted."

He accused Congress Chief Ministers of sticking to the chair and yet playing the role of Opposition.
