I can vouch from my experience that these days non brahmin tamils are keeping very sanskritised brahminical name for their children. Some of the names I encountered among tam Non Brams in America:
1. Ankita
2. Smriti
3. Anusha
I read in this forum that that is the name of Madurai Veeran's son is Siddhart (another B sounding name).
Can anyone whether this is a recent phenomenon.

Is sanskrit, property of brahmins?. Only brahmins are allowed to use?

Dear Ranga,
Siddarth is definitely not a brahmin sounding name. I think you are thinking of my anthimber p.siddarth.
My son's real name is rowdy Rangasamy. Now that is a brahmin sounding name.

Sanskrit is not the property of brahmins. It has an European Ancestor.
Indo-European -> Indo-Aryan -> Sanskrit. That lineage. But Sanskrit has only 30 percent European blood. The rest of its syntax, grammer, and words are plagiarised from the Native tongues of India!

Guys, please re-read the last line. I am asking "Is this a recent phenomenon". All I am interested in knowing is that how recent it is, or is just restricted to north american non brams.
Anyhow it is good that tamils are slowly throwing out tamil sound names and adopting more 'indian' sounding names.

What is a question on your 'recent phenomenon' doing in the TNHistory section of Forumhub??
Since you placed this thread in the History section, perhaps accidentaly, you should not worry much about some 'Historical perspective' that the posters may have!
