Hi, I am an Indian American, who recently became interested in this subject and have visited some Dravidian movement sites such as the Dalistan Journal, and some other forums. One issue that seems to repeatedly come across is "brahmin domination" in higher education, and higher administrative posts. I see a similar trend in the US, where Jews form approximately about 3% of the population but control large portions of Congress and other sectors of the govt., upper management posts, and disproportianate percentages of elite Ivy-League colleges, while African Americans and Mexicans, despite a bigger population, and despite the affirmative action policies, are present in much fewer numbers. I wonder whether this Brahmin over-representation in India is because of the "I scratch your poonal, you scratch mine" hidden racism or whether its a simple result of different values and different socio economic conditions like the US.

Also, when did the caste conflict arrive in Tamil Nadu? During my youth, I never felt any problems between the various castes. Is this because this issue is a recent one, or because most of the people, even in TN, are unaware of this issue?
