The Tamil Nadu government on Friday decided to file a fresh suit before the Supreme Court praying for a direction to the Centre to frame a new scheme to be submitted by Tamil Nadu government as per the Inter-state Water Disputes Act.

The state government's proposal would seek to ensure that the present interim order and also the final order, to be passed by the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal, are effectively implemented.

The apex court would also be moved to pass appropriate orders directing Karnataka to honour and implement the present interim order, and also the Tribunal's final order.

The state Cabinet, which met under the leadership of Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, also decided that the state would not participate in the meetings convened by the Cauvery River Authority in future, since the Authority in its present form did not possess any powers and was unable to effectively implement the orders of the tribunal.

The same would also apply with regard to meetings of the present monitoring committees, a resolution adopted at the Cabinet said.

  Hey guys,
  the bandh is tommorrow and i have already been threatened by a drunken thug when a friend was speaking to me in tamil.
  ironically the friend is a kannidiga living and settled in Salem who is native of mysore. and sure he moved away without a question leaving me alone. and it was another friend a north indian from UP who intervened to get me out.

  A drunken Tamilian thug is no different from a drunken Kannadiga thug. Both would talk nonsense. About your kannadiga friend walking away, well...afterall we live in a society where a girl going to the cinema will be beaten and people would watch (Madras) or a child getting raped will be watched by 4 adult men because they were "scared" (Bombay).   That still doesn't excuse your friend, I was just him being a kannadiga had nothing to do with his running away. In any case, even animals seem to stand up for each other, I have seen a National Geo film where an elephant defended warthogs from lions, but we, human animals from India don't stand up for our fellow men/women.   Dravid Messaiah must be a fool! I think, he does not know even the history of this land. Bangalore is a Tamil land. In 1956 they had taken it away from the Tamils along with a good portion of the forest. Vengalore was the original Tamil name of Bangalore. The KRS dam was built by the Tamils.   Whenever I read abt Cauvery dispute , I just think where is the world going? Just go thru all this posting.even well educated people cant speak logically abt an issue.most can only discuss abt kannadigas , tamilians and hindi(I am lost….how this is related with the issue?). When there is a problem, have you ever heard of any farmer from kannda creating all those violence in B’lore. Troublemakers will be waiting to make trouble. They don’t see veerappan as a decoit. They see him as a tamilian and act as though the whole tamilnadu urged him to do all those atrocious things. So lets not talk abt them. Tell me how many of kanndigas know the true situation in tamilnadu. pls understand tamilnadu is not Chennai. It is there in the south where the poor farmers were struggling for food. How many of you watched people eating rats ‘cos they don’t have any food? How many of you felt ashamed when it was there in msn or when it was showed in discovery channel? believe me, it was not told that those people were tamilians but only as INDIAN. Do the farmers of Karnataka really know the situation in tamilnadu?? Why it is left to politicians who will only care abt their egos and selfishness to explain abt such sensitive matter ? why there is not even single person who can see the problems from both side?? Karnataka says that they cant give 205 tmc to TN ‘cos they don’t have enough for their own. So do you all think that it is ok for a state to use all the water where as another state people will live like animals digging to get SOMETHING to eat. Let us think rationally.   There are only two solutions to Cauvery issue.
  the first one is to merge the Districts of Bangalore, Mysore, Kodagu, Chamrajnagar, Mandya, Kolar, Tumkur and Mangalore with Tamilnadu since those were once a part of ancient Tamilagam,Or to play caste card. Vokkaligas, Lingayats and Idigas living in the Cauvery Belt are formerly Tamil Lingayats, Idigas and Vokkaligas. So these people must take a quick decision to save their brother farmers in Tamilnadu.
