Read about Nambaduvan who gave moksha to a brahmin. This story is celebrated as Kaisika puRanam by Ramanuja and his followers to this day

Karimaaran:
I don't think anyone is denying what was then. It is the current practice among the population that people are objecting to. I checked some photos at the Bhakti list the other day, I couldn't find a single non-Brahmin. Is it because they are excluded or because non-Brahmins have no Bhakti or what is it?
I hope you can see the difference between what Ramanuja practiced and what is being currently practiced by his followers. Eventhough Ramanuja followers may celebrate Kaisika Puranam, they are closing the door to people like Nambaduvan today, that is the problem.
Anyhow, I hope our Indian society will extend basic human rights to everyone of its citizens irrespective of financial or caste backgrounds.

Did you check out the mention of Parayar as one of the only four Kudis in Purananuru?

Not true. Just because they have not been photographed does not mean they exsist. Thre are over 1300 members and believe me, it would be impossible to put up all their photos.

To an extent, yes. But exceptions are there. The sthalAtha mudalis at Srirangam are not brahmins. The pAnars of who Thiruppanalwar was an ancestor was carried on the shoulders of the brahmin priest Lokasaaranga Muni.
Nammalwar was an Isai VellAlar, his student was Madurakavi who was a Brahmin. There are so many even in the present day who teach Divya Prabandham who are non-brahmins to other brahmins.
Check Triplicane in Madras if you want. There would be a plethora of the same.

Karimaran,
Thanks for the info. If I talk any further on this issue, I will be branded as being anti-Hindu. So let me stop here.
Happy Deepavali.

Nammazhwar was an Isai Vellalar. He is the Kulapathi for all Iyengars
