chithram is a classic........it was remade as "engirundho vandhan" in tamil with sathyaraj in lead.......MSV-TKR joined hands after a long time for this movie.....

i have seen a english movie "walk in the clouds" with similar story....maybe they were all adopted from a novel.... .....also it was remade in Hindi with govinda....
