Madodoyo was the first film I saw which was directed by Kurosawa.
For those who have not seen it: Madadoyo means "not yet".
There is an annual party, for moving a year closer to the end, held by the students of a retired professor where the master loudly declares - Madodoyo- I am not done yet ! :-)
Did he intend that to be his last film ? If so - then it is as poetic as Prospero's burying his magic wand in Tempest - Shakespeare's last play.
