I assume that the Tamil which I learned from Shanthi and from here is same as the Tamil taught in the Tamilclass website. It looks like I am learning the same Tamil as what I was learning from Shanthi and from the above mentioned website. If I get started with the Tamil that is commonly taught and spoken and then get into colloquial Tamil, it will save me ALOT of confusion.

Why don't you start learning Tamil using daily activities from the time you wake up! Example:
I woke up at 6 AM = naan (kaalai) aaRu maNikku ezhundhEn.
shakthi: Yes! It is sanskrit. In Tamil it is thirupthi.
