Watched the movie last week all alone as that was the last show in my area. There were only about 10 people but that's all you can expect on a weekday here.
The visuals are stunning, music is just divine to say the least. The themes that IR used for some portions like a show of kindness, the feeling of pain etc just stays with you for a long time. To top it all is the placement of the song Thalattu Ketka Naanum which serves a release of emotions for not only Myskin but also the viewers. No one could have done a better justice to that song than IR.
Overall, a beautiful movie, you have to experience it.
NAs are based on censor cert date, isn't it?
For e.g. nAn kadavuL got award for 2008 though it hit the screens in 2009.
There were discussions earlier in this thread about NL fighting for some NAs.
Question : When was NL censored (BTW, what is the rating?) and will it be competing in any category for 2010?
saw nandhalala.a real hope among lifeless robots. a true definition for the word inspiration.myskin and raaja..........made for each other.

It would be very difficult to use one raaja BGM in a given movie in another different movie. Because his music becomes a character by itself in the movie.
Very rarely I post comments in blogs.
One such is here :-)

Possibly even I could've done such stereotyping in the distant past, but vowed not to do anymore sometime back!
The fact is, the catagory of "life-long-ratnA-cafe-only-eaters" no longer exists, IMO (possibly never existed even). "That X is a fan of somebody = X is not exposed to anybody else" is such a stupid generalization and the very definition of being a kiNaRRuththavaLai.
Today, most people are open minded to taste and see all kinds of / all variety of art forms. Well, such quest had always been there but there are a lot of avenues now thanks to communication revolution.
If X has developed a strong taste for something despite such varied exposure only means that X likes / loves / prefers that something so much.

app_eng,
Generally I find this sort of arrogance in lot of places. A sort of 'I know everything about you guys' type of arrogance. And this leads to the paradox that you have mentioned.
I am fully for disagreements and criticism and I personally hold Raja is not beyond criticism. Criticism helps a lot in developing our own aesthetics and also understand that there could be multiple points of view. The blog author does make a comparison between the Japanese movie and Raja's BGM and feels that the Japanese one was better. Fair enough but to say that if you didn't feel so then you 'Ratna Cafe' type is where he goes beyond criticism and into unnecessary generalization.
app_eng,
And I guess people don't happen to read much of the discussion that happens here where Raja is criticized for anything he does also for things he doesn't do. I found your comment quite sensible and mild but already someone is advising the poster that Raja fans are fanatics and that he should be careful while posting anything about Raja!!!
