My info is based on Satyaraj's interview telecast on doordarshanin 1988. Already theres A CLUE

Correct. As per the interview given by Satyaraj ......
1986 did not seen many superhits with Punnagai Mannan releasing late in the year going on to become a silver jubilee. As some people noted, there were hits like Amman Kovil Kizhakkaale, Mythili ennai Kathali, Mouna Ragam etc, but in the mid 80s standards, these films were not superhits in all centres. ( A , B , C centres ).
The year also saw the 2 Jaambavans burning their fingers by producing Vikram and Maaveeran. " Paalaivana Rojakkal " starring Lakshmi, Satyaraj, Prabhu and Janakraj is an often underplayed film with the superhit song "Kaadhal enbadhu podu udamai"
However, if Satyaraj had told this to please the new CM M.K., who scripted the movie, then I stand corrected. IMO, Satyaraj is usually straight forward and calls a spade a spade.
