I was thinking of posting the song,Surmayee Ankhiyon..., from Sadma(1983), a Hindi remake of Moondraam Pirai(1982).
The song from Moondraam Pirai:
KaNNe kalaimaane.....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0EQHDOqpRA
The movie was also dubbed into Telugu as Vasanta Kokila (1982)
The song from Vasanta Kokila:

Balu Mahendra: May his soul rest in peace.
Swarup: B.S.Kalla's name was listed along with Emani Sankara Sastri as music directors in a movie, possibly a Hindi remake of a Telugu movie. I think the Hindi movie was 'Bahut Din Huwe'. I think Bala Nagamma is the original. It is an old movie porduced by S.S.Vasan (Gemini Studios). I am not sure I posted a song from Bahut Din Huwe. I will post a song later.
From Bahut Din Huwe (1954)
Chanda Chamke Neel Gagan Mein.....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qyUOlmU4fU
This movie is a Hindi remake of Bala Nagamma(1942)(Telugu) . Both were produced by Gemini's S.S.Vasan.
Both versions had two music directors.
Hindi version had Emani Sankara Sastri and Balakrishna S Kalla.

From the MalayaLam movie 'Swati Tirunaal'.
Jamuna Ki naare........Bansuri Bajaave...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uftAisbUcr4
The movie is in MalayaaLam.
The composer was Maharaja Swati TirunaaL of Travancore state (a malayaaLi).
The composition is in Hindi. He composed a few songs in Hindi and Telugu even though most were in Sanskrit.
The singer BalamuraLi Krishna, a well known carnatic vocalist, is from Andhra, a Telugu.
But he resides in Chennai.
These facts were mentioned by one vocalist when he sang this song.
RR,
Tilak Kamod is Nalina Kanti in carnatic music. For some reason this raaga began to appear in Tamil movies in recent (for me) times. One song is 'endhan nenjil neengaadha thendral needhaanaa'. :) The most popular caarnatic composition is 'Manavyaalakincharaadhathe' by Thyagaraja. There are very few compositions in this raga.
Thank you Raj! :) Great selection indeed. For any serious music lover, the movie SWATHI THIRUNAL is a must see/listen to production.
The movie has a great collection of Swathi Thirunal compositions, the only exception being "Mokshamu galadaa puvilo...."
by Thyagaraja Swami. The singers include Balamurali Krishna, KJY, SPB, Neyyatinkara Vasudevan, Chithra, Aundhathi and Ambilikkuttan.
Music/orchestration for the movie was by the late M.B. Srinivasan.
This is probably not the right thread for this list; but music is beyond language, culture, etc! Here it is:
Pannakendra sayanaa.... (Balamurali Krishna, KJY & Neyyatinkara Vasudevan)
Alar sara parithaapam....(KJY & Arundhathi)
Mokshamu galadaa puvilo....(Balamurali Krishna)
Parama purusha Jagadeeswara....(KJY & Neyyatinkara Vasudevan)
Sumasaayaka viduraa....(Arundhathi)
Paarvathee naayakaa paahimaam....(KJY & Chithra)
Saarasa mukha sarasi janaabhaa....(KJY)
Geethaku mithu thaga dheem (thillaanaa)....(Ambilikkuttan)
Maamavaa sadaa jananee....(Neyyatinkara)
Devanukei pathi indraa....(SPB)
Krupayaa paalaya souree....(KJY)
Jamunaa kinaarei pyaarei....(Balamurali Krishna)
Kosalendra maadhavaamithaa....(Neyyatinkara)
Chaliyei kunjanu mo thum....(Chithra)
Most, if not all the songs are available on Youtube.
Raagadevan, Thanks for reminding . I like the parama purusha rendition a lot..
Raj, that's what the 'textbooks' say but I can't see how nalinakanthi and tilak kamod are similar. To me, each have key signatures that put them worlds apart. I am all ears if you can explain..
BTW, jamuna kinare is a wonderful song. BMK takes it to a different level. Sung in Pilu I guess..

You are welcome RD! :)
RR: There was a discussion in the old hub about Nalinakanthi/Tilak Kamod where the claimed the equivalence ! :) That was more than 10 years back around the time I came to know about this hub. If you can find that thread and post your comment we can see how they respond. May be it is another case of 'manasuloni' and 'samaja vara gamana'being classified under Hindholam even though they sound different (due to a change in one note) . I think they have renamed the scale for 'manasuloni' as Varamu, yet to be accepted by all! :)
In fact, one of my friends who knows ragas in both systems told me about the equivalence/similarity about 30 years back. If I meet him I will ask him about the ragas! :)
Guess the raga for the song I just posted here! :)
Raj, I like the challenge but this raga is an easy one.. Any Mohan, or Mathyapradesh capital city people can find it ;)
I actually like to read your snippets/experiences related to the song.
Rajraj, The Lata Mangeshkar song above from Bhabhi Ki Chudiyaan (1961) sounds a bit like a A.M Rajaa song from Missiamma 1953. The Telugu version starts with 'telusukonave yovathi'. There is also a similar one by P.Leela in the same film. I wonder whether I am imagining it or whether it is the same raaga behind both.
It is supposed to rain this month. We have not seen any so far. May be a raga that brings rain will help ! :)
From Malhar(1951)
Garjat Barsat Bheejat Ayilo.....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4AhC1UdAewM
Raga of the song? The clue is in the title of the movie! :)
Swarup: Jyoti Kalsh Chalke is in Mohanam as RR hinted. 'Telusukonave Yuvathi' and 'Pazhaga Theriya VeNum' from Missiamma(Tamil) are also in Mohanam, an ancient raga.
Raj, it sure has worked. Raining here cats & dogs after a long dry spell.. :)
I was in 8th or 9th standard (third or fourth form as it was known those days) when Sansar(Hindi) and Samsaram(Tamil) were released in 1951. One popular song was:
Ammaa Roti De Baabaa Roti De.....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cijAc1zW3w8
From the Tamil version:
Ammaa Pasikkudhe... ( ammaa I am hungry...)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EbYEdoN9PNo
Children used to tease their mothers singing 'ammaa pasikkudhe', if the meals were delayed !
I did that too ! :)
The most popular song was probably 'ye sansar ye sansar' ( samsaram samsaram in Tamil). I posted this long time back.
Yesteryear actress Nanda is no more :( RIP...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qn9GDeIHioE
The most popular of Nanda's movies must be Gumnaam (1965). At least that's where I recall seeing her first on screen (in Mannargudi, raj :) ). I don't think I knew much hindi then but the movie was really engrossing. Nanda seemed to fit the character well and helped give a handful of scares to the audience. I saw the movie again couple of times on tv during later days, and interestingly had the same observation. I couldn't help compare the tamil version here. Can't say much about the heroine there. I think Ravichandran also overacted and copied Manoj kumar's body language a lot. Anyway I have to admit both movies are classic thrillers..!

This, I think, is Ilaiyaraja's first Hindi film song... from Balu Mahendra's SADMA (1983),
the remake of MOONRAAM PIRAI. Here is Suresh Wadkar singing "ye zindagi gale laga le..."

Raja used this tune in the 1984 Tamil movie THAMBIKKU ENTHA OORU, with SPB singing for Rajni...

By the way, the song used in MOONRAAM PIRAI for the same situation was "poongaatru...":
