I think as fans, our duty is to educate non-NT fans, younger generations who have missed out on seeing this magnificent actor strutting his stuff on films and (I missed out on this) on stage. He has generously poured out his heart on his craft, and was never stingy in giving his all in front of the camera.
I am one in the opinion that the screen performances in not only Tamizh films, but world all over has deteriorated in quality. Yes, Hollywood too. This is where films of Nadigar Thilagam can come in, and used as useful tool in teaching the younger generation of actors who are mostly deluded by "non-acting is best acting" mission statement.
These actors are cheered on by fans who has very little idea on gigantic impact created by NT on the first place during his time, and his influence on the current seniors of Tamizh film industry. These fans need to be educated about what acting is. How tough the job is. How it takes one to forgo the image issue and contribute tirelessly to the script, whether the writing is bad or not. How to work as a great team member, and if the responsibility lands on one's shoulder, a leader for that production team. These and much more qualities are inherent in the works produced by NT in his lifetime, a lifetime dedicated to the artistry called screen and stage performances.
I think I have slacked of late, in not discussing on his acting alone in this thread, I shall make ammend. But this is my call, also on behalf of Joe, of all of us to talk NT, his cinema, and how it has and should influence many lives, actors and fans alike. Our humble request, and sorry if I have offended anyone.
