Dear Neel,

naazji..
poove unnai nEsithEn... is from paruva rAgam ( ravichandran-kannada and juhi chawla film) md is amsalekha I think..
Neel...
one more request of SJ song from piriyAvidai..
"ennuyirE.. ponnoLiyE.. en kAdhal mannA..
unai kaNdadhum nenjam neruppAnadhE..
enna seivEn...
vArAyO pAlootRi aNaikka..
probably this is the tamil equivalent of "seesha ho yaa dil ho aakhir... toot jaatha hai!"
yes it is indeed pathetic that "asha " had to be borrowed! But in a moment of madness Aasha became athumping hit and so people naturally had to remake it!
For all it is worth they may have named it Lorry driver Rajakannu part II.
MSV was valiant here as he was in Amara kaviyam but it was a lost battle , a lost cause.
As an MSV admirer I would rather not go into his 80s efforts for every gem you uneaarth you will find 10 so so songs ( hits maybe for other composers but not for mellisai mannar)

To borrow LRE's words, "Enakku (m) Ji Pottaa Joram Varum!" :-)
Paruva Raagam..."dubbing" padam? Why did I get into that loop, I wonder! Thanks for the detail!
Pramila endha padaththil vandhaalum, enakku koodavae oru chinna bayam varum...Vaazhaiyadi Vaazhai-odu aarambiththa bayam, innaal varaikkum...But I must also say this: She was a fine performer who took on the so-called "negative" roles and turned in memorable portrayals. She was excellent in Vaazhai, Arangaetram, Thangappadhakkam, Sadhurangam...
Piriyaavidai...eppadaa theatre-ai vittu pirivom-nnu...you get my drift. :-)
"Rajaa Paarunga..." was a nice duet (Dhaekho Dhaekho-ji...hindi-il.) I have not heard the SJ solo you mention in years.
"Maanai Thaedudhu Maanvizhi..." Any details on this?

Sumangali = Aasha? Oh my, is all I can summon. :-) And I agree that MSV's star was on the decline from the mid-80s.
Hi Naaz
I think "oru mAnai thEdudhu mAnvizhi.." sung by SJ and a singer called Ashok ( not sure) from the film "vEli illA mAmaram"
padam veLiliyila vandhuchO ?

I am truly amazed by your memory! For some weird reason, I am always searching to fill in these data gaps, for I only remember odd tunes here and there...
It is great to have such a resource at TFMpage! Thanks!
(Don't ask why I get into loops of songs from unreleased films! :-))

I think a judicious assessment would be that MSV stayed true to his talent; it is the sound and groove of a generation that really changed.
baroque, Naaz & Usha, you are welcome.
madhu, I remember ennuyirE ponnoLiyE. I will look for it.
vengayam, I agree with you as well as Naaz. The change in the trend may be the reason. However, Andha 7 Naatkal, Janani, and Kanne Kaniyamudhe are some of his films that had many good songs.

Jack
NeelD,
I just stumbled upon Ilaigal midhum from kulir kaala meghangal. On hearing the song I was instantly bowled over.
I feel that CVS would have made amusic director of me too if he had so desired. What a man!!
