Ram's Thanga Meengal - Yuvan Shankar Raja
Gautham Vasudev Menon’s Photon Kathaas is on a production spree, one has to say. The production house, which is currently making ‘Veppam’, ‘Azhagarsamiyin Kudhirai’ and ‘Nadunisi Naaigal’, has planned its next.
Titled ‘Thanga Meengal’, the film will be directed by Ram of ‘Katradhu Thamizh’ fame. The director himself will play the protagonist of the movie, which will be produced by Gautham along with R S Infotainment.
Says Ram, “I made a decision to play the lead role myself since I thought that it would fit well to me. The movie is about a bad son, who becomes a good father later. An eight year old girl is acting along with me.”
Shooting of ‘Thanga Meengal’ will start in Nagercoil on January 18. A host of new faces will be part of this venture. Music is by Yuvan Shankar Raja and lyrics are being penned by Na Muthukumar.

Why ya? Anyway he will do a better job than the highly inconsistent jeeva of Katradhu thamizh.
Raam in neeyaa naanaa said veedu is the only edhaarthamaana cinema in TF history because it was the reflection of lower-middle-class in the late 80s. According to him, edhaarthamaana films should reflect the society. I think that fuelled him to make Katradhu Tamizh based on the IT industry boom in the noughts. But his social commentary was very amateurish. But the romance in the film was kickass. Looking forward to this now

Silly decision, no one will give two cents if he's gonna play the leading role. even if a low key actor maybe (Prasanna, Vishnu, Aadhi) the film would take an opening.
Films like Gauthaman's Magizhchi and Karu Pazhaniappan's Mandhira Punnagai weren't bad - but no one gave two cents because the hero was a director. (hope Cheran notices this tooo)
