Looks like namma Vijay has had a great start this new year. While his film with Neason, Jilla, will hit screens this Pongal, we hear he has "found himself a place in the top 10 most searched celebrities of 2013". "According to a list provided by a search engine, Vijay is one of the most searched celebrities of last year. His Tamizhan co-star Priyanka Chopra is also part of the list. The song he has sung for Jilla — Kandangi — and the making video have also been voted as one of the most popular numbers. He's quite kicked about the film," says a source.

Meanwhile, the actor spent the New Year's Eve and the New Year with his family. "There were no celebrations, and the actor kept it quiet and low- key with a family get-together.

He will be taking a break for a couple of more days till his film releases. He will then commence shooting for his film with AR Murugadoss," the source adds. We hear that the actor is quite kicked about his second film with Murugadoss. There had been reports about how the film will be set in Kolkata. However, the source clarifies, "The locations haven't been finalized yet, and Vijay and Murugadoss will meet up soon to chalk out a schedule. Along with this film, the actor is also expected to sign on another project, an announcement regarding which will be made soon."

Actor Vijay spent more than 30 minutes interacting with his fans on micro-blogging website Twitter, today. Not a regular on Twitter, Vijay personally replied to some tweets. He thanked his fans for coming in large numbers to theatres to watch Jilla.
The movie directed by Neason featured Vijay, Kajal Agarwal, Mohanlal, Soori and Mahat Raghavendra among others in prominent roles. Produced by R B Choudhary, it had music by D Imman.
Expressing happiness to interact with fans, Vijay tweeted, ‘It was a great experience sharing the screen with Mohanlal’.
He also said, ‘I would love to do a Malayalam movie and work again with Lal sir’. Asked about his words of advice to his fans, the Thalaivaa actor, said, ‘do well in your job and make sure you take care of your family. Your life will be good’.
Fans of Vijay and Ajith clash quite often, especially when their movies are released around the same time. When queried about this, Vijay said that it is not healthy at all. He also urged is fans to avoid indulging in such things.

Director Atlee grabbed our attention with his super hit debut movie 'Raja Rani'. Now the latest is that the director is busy writing the script for his next movie and the buzz is that he is talks with Ilaiyathalapathy Vijay.

I would rather prefer Sasikumar-Vijay after the ARM project. Despite so many good reviews for Raja Rani, i found it to be less engaging when i watched it.

Post the success of Jilla, Ilayathalapathy Vijay is apparently on a signing spree. The actor will begin his project with AR Murugadoss very soon, in which he pairs opposite Samantha. Following that will be a film for PT Selvakumar’s banner and Thameens Films.

We now hear that the actor also has given his nod for Atlee. The director of the super hit Raja Rani apparently narrated a script recently to Vijay and the actor was floored it seems. It must be noted that Atlee worked as the assistant director of Shankar in Nanban that starred Vijay in the lead.

Trusted sources of ours reveal that the collaboration might happen soon after the AR Murugadoss project. Atlee might also retain his technical crew from Raja Rani.

Veeram is doing wonderfully well all through and why do you want to open old wounds? Do you remember Ajith's biggest hit before Arambham and its BO collection according to actress Radhika?

Many people including me believe Vijay has all what it takes to be the darling of masses, which he already is.

Thalaivaa ran into political issues hurting the movie's business prospects and casting a fear/doubt on Vijay's future movies. Ajith delivered Arambham which was his best in a long time.

Isn't this what is exactly happening for the current pongal releases? One movie leads in TN by some margin...whereas another one leads worldwide by some margin. ..and even though no official numbers are released. ..from whatever sites have released the box office numbers...there isn't much to choose...so I don't follow how one movie becomes a blockbuster whereas the other one is being portrayed as a failure.

Secondly, I read quite a few sarcastic remarks around success meet. Didn't Surya conduct one for Singam 2 on the 2nd or 3rd day...and it did go on to become one of the highest grossers.

It's very evident from the day of release that some vested interests were just waiting for the release, so that they could start spreading negative rumours about Jilla. After the premier shows and after the morning shows on Friday, few of these self proclaimed reviewers were all over giving biased and negative reviews. It didn't manage to do the damage that was intended is a different matter. Jilla doing well in the 2nd week despite mixed reviews is purely due to Vijay's star power. And yes, Mohanlal's presence obviously did have an impact.
