http://tamilcinemacritic.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/vj4.jpg?w=300&h=162 (https://tamilcinemacritic.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/vj4.jpg)
http://tamilcinemacritic.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/vij1.jpg?w=300&h=200 (https://tamilcinemacritic.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/vij1.jpg)

Nice article about Vijay and his parents, family by his mother.

Vijay's sister if not because of the cancer and was alive today would have been great to see the brother-sister bonding.....can see the vijay's loneliness and his missing of his beloved sister in his calmness and silence.....

Director Shankar : Vijay is actually busy with the Chimbudevan project. I called and asked if he could come for the launch. His immediate reply was, "Okay na'. I was shocked. I just asked him once and he right-away said okay. He told me, "What brother? You've asked, how will I not come? From the Nanban days, he's become my Nanban. Thanks to him for making this event really special.

''Love you till death, Vijay sir''
A dancer turned choreographer turned actor, Sathish Krishnan started his career in a television reality show. Today he is seen as the most sought after dancer / choreographer in the industry. He was noted for his work in Vijay's Thalaivaa and thereon his association with Ilayathalapathy grew stronger.
Sathish has always been a great fan of Vijay as mentioned by him in his twitter page. Yesterday’s star-studded Kappal audio launch event gave him another opportunity to share the same stage as Vijay. He danced for Vijay’s songs and paid tribute to Ilayathalapathy in his trademark style.
He tweeted“After a long time danced on stage for Kappal audio launch - a tribute to Illayathalapathy. Thanks Vijay Sir for the beautiful ‘Hi’ while I danced on stage :) Love you till death.”
Sathish’s debut as a choreographer was for the film Neethane En Ponvasantham, and he has subsequently worked with almost all the happening stars in the industry currently. He has also made onscreen appearances in films like Vaaranam Aayiram, Unnale Unnale and few others.

Couldn't get any better IMO. Vijay continues to make smart choices and the line-up just get's better and better. Vijay 61 could be ARM again given that they have delivered 2 blockbusters.

Kavalan, Nanban, Thuppakki, Kaththi (I am sure most of these would be in Vijay Top 5 for most of us) - 4 really good movies sandwiched between 2 commercial entertainers Velayudham and Jilla, this is such a good period for Vijay. He is putting his cinema career ahead of both SAC and Politics.

Looking forward to all 3 in the pipeline with keen interest.

My Personal Top 10 of Vijay

1. Kaththi - 2014
2. Thuppakki - 2012
3. Ghilli - 2004
4. Kadhalukku Mariyadhai - 1997
5. Priyamudan - 1998
6. Nanban - 2012
7. Thulladha Manamum Thullum - 1999
8. Kavalan - 2011
9. Kushi - 2000
10. Pokkiri - 2007

To me at least, 4 movies from the last 3 years in the top 10 list and 3 movies between 1997-1999.

He is on a roll, no doubt and this time it looks like he is intent on continuing his good form. Way to Go, Vijay!

Thuppakki always stands first in terms of quality rather than Kaththi as the first 45 minutes of the latter really not an absorbing one compares to

the former. IMO Thuppakki stands first rather than Kaththi because it contains all the ingredients mixed in right combination.

My Top 10 of Vijay.

1. Thuppakki

2. Kaththi.

3. Pokkiri

4. Ghilli

5. Friends

6. Thullada Manamum Thullum

7. Sachin

8. Poove Unakkaga

9. Love Today

10. Nanban

Thanks Vasudevan for sharing your list :).

Agree with you completely on Thuppakki being a perfect wholesome entertainer, but to me Kaththi sneaks through because of the twin-dimensions to his portrayal as Jeevanantham and Kathiresan. Better scope for performance, IMHO in Kaththi.

Movies such as Poove Unakkaga and Love Today are better products than Kavalan and were bigger hits too......but just because of Vijay's fall prior to Kavalan and the welcome change that it was to his usual portrayals, makes it special to me.

6.Nanban
7.Poove Unakkaga
8.TMT
9.Thirumalai
10.Thiruppachi

Somehow Pokkiri didn't find a place in my list. I always thought MB did a better job than Vijay. And Thirupachi entertained me more than Pokkiri. Other movies that I selected are purely on their repeat value.

What a welcome relief to the constant bickering Vijay's pages has been. Thank you Cedy.

My personal top ten
1.Kaththi (for his immaculate performance. That pressmeet scene alone is enough for Kaththi to remain in my all time top spot)
2.Thuppakki ( if it wasn't for the not so impressive climax it could have shared the top spot)
3.Priyamudan (chocolate eating scene at the airport. Total badassness. Love the multiple shades to his character Vasanth)
4.Thullatha Manamum Thullum (Vijay and Simran. Enough said.)
5. Thirumalai ( I know a lot of you probably love the scene at the pier but my personal favourite is the wedding hall scene. The characterization is brilliant. This movie is even more special because it came after a string of flops when most people had written him off)
6. Love Today ( birthday scene after his arrest. The father son relationship portrayed by Raghuvaran-what a performer, and Vijay is the best ever in Tamil cinema IMO)
7. Sachein and Vaseegara (because it's Sachein and Boopathy <3. They gotta be the cutest fictional characters ever)
8. Ghilli ,Thirupachi,Sivakasi, Pokkiri
9. Nanban (Kolantha othachan line and his expressions)
10.Poove Unakaga(You just can't not love this movie. I bet it's in everyone's list) and Kadhaluku Mariyathai.

I know it technically ain't top ten, more like top fifteen but whatever. I see a pattern here, everyone has Kaththi Thuppakki Poove unakaga and Thullatha Manamum Thullum in their list. I'm (pleasantly) surprised to see TMT making its way to everybody's list.

Oh man, it is so hard to say after what movie but I can maybe say in what period of time. I don't remember exactly when as I slowly grew to like him. When I was young I did not care much about any other actor's movies because all I needed was Rajini and MGR but I think it was during 2003-2004 that changed everything. The very first movie that made me become a huge fan of Vijay was Thirumalai. I loved everything about that movie. I started dressing as Thirumalai and I even started copying the way he takes his cigarette even though I was like 12 years old then. Then came Ghilli. Oh that Ghilli craze. Every where I went it was nothing but Ghilli. I instantly fell in love with his comedies and action. After that I watched all his older movies whenever it was on TV. So Thirumalai will always hold a special place.

Hi Guys,

I am from Kerala. I became VJ fan after watching TMT in 1999. I still remember that day when I watched that film from Ajantha theature trivandrum. To be honest I won't watch Tamil films at that time and since I watched all other movies playing , my friend pulled me for this one. We missed first 10 mins and we don't know the hero's name also. After the movie I liked that and went outside the theature and finds out hero's name - VIJAY. Next day morning show we again watch the same film next day

After that watched all the movies of VJ from theature.

My favorities are
1. Pokiri
2. Thuppaki
3. Kaththi
4. Gilli
5. Thirupachi\Velayudham
6. Kushi
7. Badri
8. TMT
9. Shajahan\Sachin\Vaseegara
10. Thirumalai

Kadhalukku Mariyadhai, without a doubt to me. Remember watching it in theatres as it was nearing its 50 day run and both Vijay and Shalini became instant favourites.

Ilayaraja Sir's songs right from 'Ithu Sangeetha Thirunaala' takes you on a musical ride and Vijay's youthful exuberance and elegance were a treat to watch. You could feel, the next generation to Rajni-Kamal is here. Remember Textile Shops selling Vijay T-shirts, the posters of Vijay/Shalini placed in every poster shops, the video cassette of KM being shared among households and all the songs occupying at least the top 3 spots in Philips Super 10. Over the next few years, you could see many a Vijay's songs rampaging through Super 10, Pepsi Ungal Choice and Neengal Ketta Padal.

Many thanks to Director Fazil, for changing Vijay's image forever! Vikraman's Poove Unnakaga was an important break too, but KM was a game changer.

Remember how in an interview few years ago, Chiyaan Vikram also had mentioned how Vijay became a household name after Kadalukku Mariyadhai.

No wonder, Ennai Thalatta Varuvala became such a rage those days. The song which begins with a 'heart beat' and Vijay walking casually, just that 4 minute song took Vijay into many a household, I guess. Easily, the best song for Ilayathalapathy.

Somehow, I guess Vijay looked entirely different in KM, compared to all his previous movies. He was neat, had just the right physique and his dresses were are all top notch.

No turning back, ever since :)

I grew up watching and enjoying Rajinikanth movies like Muthu, Baadshah as many of you and at that time know Vijay only as one of the actor, later I become his fan after watching his movies like Kushi, Friends, Priyamanavalae with my family. He really had something to attract and not to forget Vijay's songs were always been chartbusters. It was not easy to listen to mp3 songs or video songs like nowadays then, where we rely mostly on television and never misses to put the volume on high :) whenever his songs are played. Songs from Badri, Youth, Bagavathi, Sachin, Shahjahan and many still has some of my favourite songs to listen

100 cr Thuppakki
After the hat-trick hits, Vijay acted in AR Murugadoss Thuppakki, which went on to gross Rs 100 cr in Tamil cinema. The film broke many records and stood next to Superstar Rajinikanths Endhiran.

Kaththi (the second 100 cr movie) & huge expectations for upcoming projects Kaththi and this time the actor has joined the 100 cr club again.
Now Vijays market value stands next to Rajinikanth in Tamil cinema. Proof of that lies in the fact that four key territories of his next film have already been sold even before the completion of its first schedule.

So another year has passed by just like that? Nope, this year was a memorable one thanks to Kaththi's resounding success :) More than Kaththi's success and the impressive pipeline that he has, the thing that amazes me is as Vinod puts its., the love for his job.

This man never looks tired or weary and winning/losing, success/failure seems to have the same effect on him. He puts behind things and keeps moving on and on. Looks like he has everything planned meticulously and hardly looks stressed. He works round the clock, 2 movies a year on an average, is there for all key promotions, makes sure he honours his confidants by being right beside them be it a movie pooja or an audio release or a marriage function or an award function, finds time for philanthropy and amidst all, looks young, super cool and relaxed.

Another 22 in the beckoning! Keep Going Vijay!

The name Ilayathalapathy Vijay resonates with several things. Than his glorious 22 years of acting career, it is the qualities as a human being wtih a golden heart that make him a dear one to me.
Here’re the top 22 qualities that make Vijay a darling of all.
Amazing: Vijay is an amazingly talented actor who has been excelling in all kinds of roles. From a child artist to a romantic hero and action lead, his talent is amazing
Adorable: While the film industry is notorious for celeb tantrums, actor Vijay comes as an adorable youngster with impeccable manners.

Cool and gentle: Vijay is known for his cool nature and there has never been an instance where he has lost his cool-be it with his colleagues, family or friends.
Dedication: Vijay’s dedication to work is something everyone should emulate in their areas of work. In a career spanning three decades (including his child artist days), there has never been an incident to show that he did not give his 100%. Even while he was writhing in back pain for a song sequence in a film in which he paired with Simran, he stay put with the shooting after taking medication, and floored the crew with his supple movements.

Humility: “Humility is the foundation of all virtues,” said Confuscious. True to the saying, Ilayathalapthy Vijay’s humility is the foundation for all his virtues.
Non-judgmental: Never had we heard anything about actor Vijay being judgmental in his approach. He is someone who never judges people but allow them to remain what they are.

While Vijay has many qualities that have helped him elevate to the top, one important aspect that I love is his action. While plenty has been said on his dancing abilities, his ability to excel in action sequences has hardly been discussed here. He is not a trained martial arts exponent or has a beefed up body that would scare the opponents. But there are some qualities which help him to look convincing as an action hero.

1. His Eyes

http://lh6.ggpht.com/-xweFU3fTpE8/Tq09P5Z5W_I/AAAAAAAAADU/PRqOuRE4X-E/316967_307631449252980_100000183830771_1425659_158 5804686_n.jpg

He has a very powerful pair of eyes which comes handy for his action sequences. You can watch any fight scene of his post Ghilli and find the cinematographer giving importance to his eyes. The latest being Kaththi, where G C Williams, uses a few seconds, to focus his eyes in the pre interval fight. Another example is the police station fight in Jilla where Ganesh Rajavelu starts the sequence from Vijay's eyes. And even in the small sequence where Vijay injures Pradeep Rawat, see where the emphasis is on..

http://i.ytimg.com/vi/nDkYdeG0YAc/0.jpg

2. Speed and style

Like I said earlier, he may not be menacing with his lean body. But can keep you engrossed with his speed. Be the climax fight of Kaththi or the dog fight in Thuppakki, he makes his moves with terrific speed and style. A similar knife fight was done by Allu Arjun in Iddarammayilatho, stunt choreographed by the same Kecha. But you can see the difference straightaway.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=504hRHOx9x0

While Allu uses knife with speed, he doesnt have any style. He does a 'karikkadai bhai'. But Vijay uses the right kind of pauses, subtle mannerisms like lifting the shirt, etc coupled with speed. A treat to watch

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=moBjeZH79-U

3. Usage of kicks

Even though he is not an exponent like Arjun, Vijay has had some training in stunts during his initial days. His flying kicks are second to none. In almost all fight scenes of Priyamanavale, Kushi and even in Kaththi he uses them to perfection.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWuPZsuaM40

And this fight scene is the best of all..

Ilayathalapathy Vijay - 22* years of surviving and succeeding
When an actor is coming from a film family, he is no stranger to publicity, crowd and the world of media. This actor, that we are talking about, was born to director-producer SA Chandrasekhar and singer Shoba Chandrasekhar; and has now become one among the all time favorite stars in the industry.Ilayathalapathy Vijaystepped into the industry exactly the same day 22 years ago as a lead hero, with the release of the film Naalaiya Theerpu. Thereon, he faced many ups and downs during his acting tenure and now this down to earth star is one of the most desirable men in the Indian film fraternity.
This multifaceted personality is also known for his playback singing and philanthropic activities apart from acting. FromBombay City Sukkha Rottiin the film Rasigan toSelfie Pullain Kaththi he has sung many songs - melodies and dancing numbers. The actor is not just the face of his movies, but also has an organisation for his fans named Vijay Makkal Iyakkam, with the motive of serving society in whichever way possible.
Vijay is known for his poised nature when he appears on the public platform and is always respected by all strata of the society. He is also among the top trending actors in Twitter with a huge fan base. Vijay is now all set working for his upcoming untitled project with director Chimbudevan. A film with Atlee is also coming up in the new year.
We wish Vijay good luck for his future endeavors and a happy film anniversary.

ILAYATHALAPATHY VIJAY – EXPERIMENTS AND EXPLORATIONS IN 22 YEARS OF JOURNEY
Live and Let live happens to be his basic mantra that has inspired millions and in fact it made him a man of regal appeal with a Brobdingnagian empire. He is soft-spoken and yet his trenchant transmission of ideologies through his deeds rides him on the majestic lanes. Well, his birthday falls on June 22, but he is actually still the same 22yrs old in looks and heart with youthful attitude and his act of helping others keeps him in the hearts of people something beyond a tag of Matinee-idol....
Top 10 Cinema on this occasion of Vijay completing 22 years of film journey brings you some of important films in his career.
BREEZY FEEL-GOOD ROMANTIC ENTERTAINERS
Vijay easily conquered the hearts of women centric base with his cute next-to-door boy looks and his characterisations that respect motherhood and of course a fun-filled lover boy. His ultimate turn in career happened with Poove Unakkaaga that was released in 1996. Even today, the film is regarded as the ever best romantic entertainer. What followed next was a tale of friendship, romance and reverence for father titled Love Today that had its release in 1997. The same year, Vijay broke his own record of a romantic hero in Kadhalukku Mariyadhai directed by Faasil. Apart from the beautiful performances of Vijay and Shalini, there is one thing that makes the film so poignant and poetic. Both the characters never even hold the hands together and it was in complete contrast to what romantic films are projected in these contemporary days. His spree of yet another beautiful romantic entertainer came in 1999 titled ‘Thulladha Manamum Thullum’, which was an unique concept. The audiences were completely endowed with emotions and the climax with tears of joy is something that remains unforgettable till now.
However, his career was not at a commendable graph as only Kadhalukku Mariyadhai was a blockbuster and other movies were just average grosser. In 2000, a sudden gold rush came his way with SJ Suryah’s KUSHI that was a stupendous hit and even in the recent release; Vijay had openly admitted that if not SJ Suryah, his career would have vanished into thin vapour. What followed next were decent films like Priyamaanavale (2000) followed by Shahjahan (2001). Nearly for ten years, he took a break into some experiments with action genres and made his comeback with Malayalam remake of Bodyguard titled Kaavalan (2011). The film revived his career with excellence and yes, we were able to see the cute, soft and innocent Vijay back with his usual magic.
EXPLOSIVE COMMERCIAL ACTION SPELL
For the audiences who were so much fascinated by the cute good romantic roles of Vijay, the new decade marked his new avatar in action packed roles. After some downfall in the gap of three years, he made a rocking comeback with the Thirumalai in 2003. Although, the film was released on the festive occasion of Diwali along with Vikram-Suriya starrer Pithamagan and Ajith Kumar’s Anchaneya, it manages to win the box office race effortlessly. Vijay adapted new stylish acts and it was acclaimed as the perfect mass commercial entertainer.
The very next was something that Vijay himself cannot forget and it was perfect realms of Vijay as a mass hero in ‘Ghilli’. No words needed to describe it and you’ve indeed experienced it with much of exhilarations. Everything was perfectly tailored for the actor in terms of songs, comedy, action and dialogues.
Vijay managed to deliver back to back family action entertainers with director Perarasu in films like ‘Thirupaachi’ and ‘Sivakasi’ that were released in the same year of 2005. In spite of being action movies, these movies gained good response from female audiences as Vijay plays a lovable son and brother in both these flicks.
But what offered him yet another blockbuster after Ghilli was Prabhu Deva’s remake of Pokkiri that was sleeper hit leaving the box office kings stunned. Vettaikaaran (2009) and Velayudham (2011) were some of the decent hits from the actor and instantly, he grabbed the 100Crore box office club with an unbeatable Thuppakki.
In spite of facing some issues, his Thalaivaa managed to achieve it status and what followed next was Jilla that made decent collections in box office.
UNEXPLORED PANORAMAS AND CRITICAL ACCLAIMS
When everyone in the industry and box office trade analysts termed Vijay as a romantic and action hero, he didn’t miss to get onboard of some unconventional experiments. His 25th film Kannukul Nilavu with the same team of Kadhalukku Mariyadhai was released. Although, the film was not a hit, Vijay unleashed his complete energy and attempt to prove his prowess in acting. His other film Udhaya that didn’t steal the spotlight was yet another attempt, which if it had released at the appropriate time would have made a good show. Azhagiya Tamizh Magan was a bold choice of Vijay that happened immediately after Pokkiri in 2007. It was the first film to have Vijay playing the dual roles based on the concept of ESP. Shankar’s Nanban was a beautiful experience, where Vijay didn’t have much to work on fists or just romance, but conveyed a beautiful message through his role. Of course it’s a remake of 3 Idiots and yet, it turned to be an impeccable soft entertainer. His recent release Kaththi doesn’t require words. He had played a fantastic roles as Jeevanandham and Kathiresan. It’s not just a 100-Crore club film, but will remain to be a special film in the career of Vijay forever. Now his upcoming film Vijay 58 is yet another bold attempt, where he is reported of playing dual roles as a warrior in period portions and a short guy in modern day. This is something that already created the best sensation across the towns.

Congratulations to the man, Vijay, who is the sole reason for me, personally, to start watching and following tamil movies; on completing 22 years in the industry. Despite all the odds stacked against him at times due to vested interests, it's amazing to see how he just continues to fight them with his trademark silence, and moves on. Like Ajay and Cedy said, his planning is so immaculate that he and his fans always have line of sight of his next 2 to 3 movies at least.

The top 10 of Vijay shared by friends here few pages back was proof that Vijay is one actor who has been accepted and successful in different genres, be it action, comedy or romance. Everyone had a balanced mix of his movies across these genres.

The other thing that stands out is his humility..and anyone who works with him first time vouches for this. Despite being the star that he is, he seems to be well grounded. He never goes about praising himself or claiming or boasting big things about himself. Even the whole superstar issue was well handled ...where he said that the title belongs and suits only one man. There are many such instances where his humble nature has come to the fore. No wonder he is in good books of some of the most reputed personalities in the industry (who may not be on any social media). Eg : he is one of the guys on the invitee list of Kamal's birthday party for past few years.

Here's wishing more strength and more success to the man who gives immense joy and entertainment to his many fans like me. Hope to see more of quality products like Kaththi, Thuppaki and if possible some good experiments with good directors.

Had taken time of mine for this small write up on 22 years of Vijayism..Anything & Everything for Thalapathy..

Sustaining in cinema for 22 Years in any department is not an easy thing today considering the improvement in media and increase in competition. Being a top hero in the industry for such a long period of time is nothing but a lifetime achievement.

Vijay's target is everyone!
He is not only a perfectionist in acting, dancing, singing but also an expert in attracting all age groups as his fanatics. Vijay is the only actor in the current generation who has fans in all ages!! If we call his fans for special occasion, we would be surprised to see small kids, teenage guys, girls, couples, grandfathers & grandmothers too. This is a very rare scenario in tamil cinema.

Celebrated as a brother by his fans
It is not only the love of his fans on Vijay, who in turn reciprocates his love on his fans. He loves his fans in such a way that even after he goes to sleep at 1'o Clock in the night after shooting, he attends a marriage function of his fan in the next day morning. You cannot see him having an assistant to hold Umbrella for him in the shooting spot anytime. This shows the respect he has for the fellow human beings. That is the reason he is being celebrated as a 'Brother' by his fans which is again a privilege that everyone strives for!!

Silence his powerful weapon
Vijay is the only actor who has faced a lot of problems in Tamil cinema in the recent years. Being the record holder of giving the 1st 50 Crore Movie in Tamil(Ghilli) and being the hero who had given two 100 crore movies in Tamil (Thuppakki, Kaththi). Vijay also holds the record for being targeted for the most number of times by the people who want to establish themself as an important personality in the society by using his name. What he gives them back is just a smile.

Vasool Chakravarthy
Trade pundits & theatre owners have claimed him as vasool chakravarty "n" no. of times. His films top the charts in major markets like Kerala, Karnataka, UK, US & Malaysia. With 4 areas of distribution in TN for V58 being sold even before the first schedule is completed marks his movies as hot cakes among the trade.

Proud to be your fan Thalaivaa!!

Udhayanidhi Stalin is waiting for Ilayathapathy Vijay

In a moving gesture, Vijay sent an emotionally nostalgic thanksgiving note yesterday to mark his completion of 22 years in the industry. Vijay fittingly thanked all his producers, directors, co-stars, family, friends and fans. In the long-list of producers, Udhayanidhi Stalin was also one. He’s probably one of the few contemporary producers in the list which is dominated by veterans. In fact, Udhayanidhi Stalin debuted as a producer and launched his banner Red Giant Movie with Vijay’s Kuruvi directed by Dharani.
Quiz him about when he will join hands with Ilayathalapathy again, Udhayanidhi candidly says “wenever ilayathalabathy vijay na gives his dates.” Will Vijay give dates to Udhayanidhi amid his busy line-up of films?

Vijay overtakes Ajith by 10!

So, it's that time of the year again. The Forbes India's Top 100 Celebrities list release time. The verdict is out and the celebrities have been ranked on their earnings and popularity in the year 2014. Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Sharukh Khan, MS Dhoni and Akshay Kumar top the list in that order. Bollywood usually does pay more than Kollywood so it is no shock to see them up there.

Now, let's come to Kollywood. Vijay takes the 41st ranking, while Rajni, Ajith and Dhanush rank in 45th, 51st and 78th positions respectively. Quite a feat, eh? Vijay fans must be sky high in joy hearing that their Ilayathalapathy overtook Thala in the ranking of Forbes India. AR Rahman stands at number 13 while Mahesh Babu is 30th and AR Murugadoss is at 39. Not a bad show for Kollywood at all.

Ilayathalapathy Vijay firmly holds the first place

We are living in a time and age when Google has become an indispensable part of our lives. We switch on the internet, log into Google and search for anything and everything under the sky, and the search engine promptly and quickly spews out a barrage of worthy links which are bound to educate and enlighten us on whatever that we were searching for.

Google has come out with its 'Top Charts' for various categories like People, Movies, Bollywood Actor (Male and Female), so on and so forth. We can see the data for 2014 and also for the preceding years way back to 2004. We can also see the data as a whole for the period 2004 - 2014, and also filter it based on location.

If we explore the search trends, among the senior lot of Tamil stars, Ilayathalapathy Vijay leads the pack as the most searched actor for 2014 and also for the period 2004 - 2014. Suriya follows in the second place. In the years 2006 and 2009, Suriya was the most Googled actor whereas Vijay holds the first place for all the other years in this decade.

The rank list of the most searched Tamil actors for 2014 is as follows
1. Vijay
2. Suriya
3. Ajith
4. Rajinikanth
5. Vikram
6. Kamal Haasan

The rank list of the most searched Tamil actors for the period 2004 - 2014 is as follows

Google Trends: Vijay outshines Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Ajith yet again
Ilayathalapathy Vijay has outperformed his colleagues in the industry for the fifth consecutive time in Google Trends’Most Searched Actorcategory in Tamil cinema. 2014 is finally coming to an end. While everyone is busy making year-end listicles, Google has released its Top Trends in Searches category wise for the year. Vijay is shining at the top beating other stars including Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Ajith and Suriya.
Interestingly, Suriya occupies the second slot and Ajith is placed third. Rajinikanth, Vikram and Kamal Haasan occupy fourth, fifth and sixth places respectively. In fact, in the past decade (2004-2014), Vijay has lost the top crown to Suriya only two times (in 2006 and 2009). For all the remaining years for the Most Searched Tamil Actor, Ilayathalapathy royally owns the Google Trends on top. http://www.onlykollywood.com/google-trends-vijay-outshines-rajinikanth-kamal-haasan-ajith-yet-again/

Good one SD :)

Now a two-pronged trend is emerging.

To Google, Forbes, Rentrak Box Office and to all online trackers - Vijay gives money.

For fans celebration and Frenzy - Vijay takes money from fanclubs

As illogical or stupid the above two statements might sound :), still its all money, money and money.

We need to check our bank balances too, Ajay, Dammy, Vinod, SD, Raikks, MB, SD, Kumaran, Ramkumar, GSV, Samajith and all of us., either we may be receiving money from SAC/Selvakumar/Vijay or we many be contributing to Vijay's bank accounts. We need a check on our bank balances.

Even Aamir Khan spoke about how except Rentrak every other BO number is fudged. But we need to tell Aamir that even Rentrak could be fudged and that's how Kaththi butt-piercing records in US, Malaysia, UK, Australia, Middle East and other places were achieved.

Vijay is all over Rentrak and I was LMAO reading SamAjith's comment the other day urging our Mahatma to find some place there. A serious blank record there.

Forget Rentrak. How about some unknown Archana from CinemaLead walking up one fine day (and despite overwhelming sources/stats outside including the famous '45' tweet), writing out of no where (tagging the news to DoneChannel) that someone miraculously has 3 movies in the 100 Crore club. What prompted someone out of sweet blue to write an article to promote a '0' to a '3' suddenly?
Nah, na, na no money involved here, could be a freakish coincidence or absolute insanity from the writer. Mahatma stays clean.

Then, you see Ramesh Loss posting 2 pictures from 'Queue' saga every fortnight, one a full size photo offering clear view of the queue, the second a half-size close-up where our modern mahatma flashes a 1000 watt smile at the camera.
Nah, na, na no money involved here, could be a freakish coincidence. Mahatma stays clean.

The recent Farmer-avatar :):)

So our Modern Mahatma is growing vegetables in his open terrace. See how these cunning journalists have climbed Mahatma's house in the midnight braving dogs and caught a glimpse of it.

Biryani, Cycling, Aero-modelling, Aathi Chudi, Gym, what else?

Last month, I think it was Guitar classes and just a fortnight ago, planting vegetables on rooftop.

All self-interests which we all including Vijay might do it as a routine, but for our Mahatma though, some how these things reach the cunning journalists purview. Not to mention bike accident video, the stick-walk photos, that upside down spanking video, the iphones, etc., etc.,

Nah, na, na no money involved anywhere here, not at all.

And that gloriously stupid articles on how 'Mahatma likes Vanganna', Mahatma likes 'Self Pula' and predicts it to be super-hit for Vijay :):)

.....................

Kumudham's poll of 2013 is reflected in Forbes fame rank in 2012, 2013 and 2014.

Google says Vijay is the most popular South Indian actor from 2004-till present.

Rentrak BO tracking put's Vijay below Rajni-Kamal and Surya following Vijay.

....................

But we know how he gives and gets money (?) to achieve all this.

I understand when someone doesn't like an actor. Some people may obviously dislike Vijay for their own genuine reasons. ..but when this hatred is unnecessarily channelled to spit venom and personal abuse...and 1 or 2 even go to the extent of bringing his dad...family etc to try and pull him down...shows the mental state of these haters. Not that we as fans should worry about it...as such people are born to hate. Nor does it affect Vijay in anyway as he is only growing. People abusing him should realise that even his average fares make more money than so called hits of other stars.

"I" - Hero Vikram & heroine Amy Jackson are fans of Vijay.

Vijay, Suriya and Dhanush are Amy's picks

Amy Jackson, the pretty British lass, who is coming into her own in the Indian cinema space, thanks to movies such as Madrasapattinam, Thaandavam and importantly the upcoming Shankar movie Ai, recently interacted with Behindwoods on a variety of topics. Here she talks about her favorites in Tamil cinema, her future projects, her hobbies and also her dream role

"There is so much talent in Tamil cinema and I feel Dhanush has great performance skills. I also like Suriya and Vijay a lot.

Recently I happened to watch Raja Rani in a theater and the response was overwhelming. I thought Arya did a great job.

Regarding my future plans, I have finalized a couple of scripts and I will reveal them, when I sign on the dotted line. But, if someone has an action packed script, they may approach me as playing a role such as Lara Croft, is my dream.

My hobbies include horse-riding, yoga, of course shopping like all girls and spending time with my family and friends."

'Ilayathalapathy' Vijay Gives Thumbs Up to Aamir Khan's 'PK'
'Ilayathalapathy' Vijay took some time off on Christmas Day to watch the recently-released Hindi movie "PK" starring Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma. The Tamil star apparently is impressed by the performance of the Bollywood superstar and liked its content.
Reports say that Vijay watched "PK" with his family members at Sathyam Cinemas in the evening on 25 December. The "Thuppakki" star was impressed by Aamir Khan's performance and gave thumbs up to the Bollywood Perfectionist's dedication. He also appreciated the subject and director Rajkumar Hirani's execution.
Vijay had earlier praised Aamir Khan's "3 Idiots". It eventually paved the way for the Tamil actor to remake the movie in Kollywood as "Nanban", which was directed by Shankar. This flick, like its original version, broke several records at collection centres.
Coming to "PK", the Aamir Khan starrer has taken the nation by storm. The movie has made record-breaking ₹155 crore in just a week. Now, the film is getting ready to be remade in Telugu and Pawan Kalyan is likely to feature in it.
However, the buzz says that the film is unlikely to be remade in Tamil as filmmakers here think that the content might not go well with the conservative Kollywood audience.
Meanwhile, Vijay, after his hit movie "Kaththi" directed by AR Murugadoss, has moved on to his next flick with Chimbudevan. It is a fantasy-adventure movie, which also features Sudeep, Sridevi, Shruti Haasan and Hansika Motwani in key roles.
The film unit is busy shooting key portions. The actor has taken a short break to celebrate Christmas. The untitled movie will hit the screens in mid 2015. http://www.ibtimes.co.in/ilayathalapathy-vijay-gives-thumbs-aamir-khans-pk-618325

Ilayathalapathy Vijay makes it memorable for his fans

Dec 31, 2014
Ilayathalapathy Vijay has had a splendid year entertaining his fans with movies like Jilla and Kaththi. Both the movies earned well, with Kaththi particularly going on to achieve a blockbuster status all over the world.

The actor is currently on a schedule break from 'Vijay 58' and yesterday he spent some free time in meeting and interacting with a large group of his fans in ECR, Chennai. It is said that about 600 Vijay fans came and took snaps with their idol. The star patiently posed with all of them and signed off, by wishing them all a very happy new year.

We appreciate Vijay for this little initiative which sure must have made the day memorable, for all the fans who met him yesterday.

'Ilayathalapathy' Vijay the Good Samaritan

Ilaiyathalapathy Vijay is always known for his philanthropic activities and kind gestures. The actor has financially helped many poor students for their education and also assisted the medical expenses of needy people.

The latest is that Archana (25) , an ardent Vijay fan who is affected by health related ailments expressed her wish to meet Ilaiyathalapathy. When Archana’s parents conveyed this to their area fans club of Vijay, they immediately passed the message to the actor who readily agreed to meet Archana.

Interestingly Vijay met Archana on her birthday, December 30 and spent his quality time with her family. The actor casually interacted with the family and made them feel better.

Another example why Vijay is a sweetheart!

Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s great hearted gesture!
Vijay’s magnanimous gestures towards the general populace is widely known. Recently, after seeing a viral picture that is going rounds on the internet on a girl named Bala who needs bone marrow transplantation, Vijay immediately donated 2 lakhs through Bussy Anand, Treasurer of his social welfare movement Makkal Iyakkam. Anand visited Ramachandra hospital and handed over the cheque in person. It must be noted that Sivakarthikeyan also contributed funds for Baby Bala.
Earlier this week, Vijay visited his ardent fan Archana who was celebrating her birthday. Archana is suffering from severe heealth issues and expressed her wish to meet Ilayathalapathy. When her well-wishers passed on the information to the nearby fan club in Rangarajapuram. They brought the matter to Vijay and he immediately obliged. Amidst his neckdeep busy schedules, Vijay’s gesture towards his fans and hungry to do something good for the society is commendable indeed! http://www.onlykollywood.com/vijay-greathearted-gesture/

1. The business rules for stars like Rajini, Vijay are different compared to others.
2. In the case of Jilla, obviously it was sold at a much higher price (purely on Vijay's box office pull as Neason had a zero track record...and people claiming Mohanlals presence as a major factor even in TN have been silenced with the fact that Kaththi made more money than Jilla in Kerala itself), assuming it will get a tax exemption. As soon as it wasn't given tax exemption, I think it was very thoughtful of Vijay and RB to call for the meet as 30% revenue is too much to lose for a big star movie during festival time.

Thanks for sharing this anyway Ajay. Cheers!

#1YearSinceJillaMassVictory Let me begin with Jilla's satellite rights record :smokesmirk:
VIJAY'S FILM SOLD FOR HIGHEST PRICE?
We all know that the kids and family audiences are big fan of Vijay. Whenever Vijay movie is shown on TV the TRP rating will be good and he is called as TRP king by the media circle. Vijay's movies are always have a good market in satellite rights and his Nanban is the first film which is sold for more than 10 crores in Tamil cinema. After Nanban , Thuppakki is also sold for an unheard amount to Vijay TV.
Due to market competition Sun TV snapped Vijay's Thalaivaa rights even before the shoot and sources say it has been sold for 15 crores which is one third of the film's budget. Now again sources claim that Jilla is sold for 18 crores and if it is true then Jilla is the highest sold Tamil film in Satellite market. With Jilla's budget is said to be 50 crores, the producers have recovered more than one third of it in satellite rights.
With AR Murugadoss project is on cards looks like no one can stop Vijay's rising market .

Some news that Shankar-Vijay doing the PK remake in Tamil. Although it's just rumours for now, I do not wish to see this to happen for 2 reasons.

1. Shankar needs a fresh script for Vijay, not another remake story. Shankar's only remake in his career is Nanban which as we know, a Vijay starrer.
2. Too many religious sentiments with the film. Who can forget the Thuppakki issues?
