Finally some news on 'Ai' ....

The shooting of Shankar’s Ai is presently happening at Kanchipuram Railway Station. Starring Vikram and Amy Jackson in the lead, the film has AR Rahman’s music and PC Sreeram’s cinematography. Vikram’s portions will be completed by the end of December or by January first week. The whole film is expected to be wrapped up by the end of January, we hear.


After this mega budget project, Vikram is expected to join director Dharani. Our sources claim that this project might be produced by Ayngaran International.


Vikram on the other hand was reported to have signed a project with Gautham Menon. With Gautham, presently doing a film with Simbu and having agreed to start his Ajith starrer around February, the status of his film with Vikram isn’t clear yet.

ஷங்கர் இயக்கத்தில் விக்ரம் நடித்து வரும் 'ஐ' படத்திற்காக 2 குரலில் டப்பிங் பேச இருக்கிறார் விக்ரம். முதல் குரல் டப்பிங் முடிவடைந்து விட்டது.

விக்ரம், ஏமி ஜாக்சன் உள்ளிட்ட பலர் நடிப்பில், ஷங்கர் இயக்கி வரும் பெரிய பட்ஜெட் திரைப்படம் 'ஐ'. ஏ.ஆர்.ரஹ்மான் இசையமைக்க, ஆஸ்கர் நிறுவனம் தயாரித்து வருகிறது.

இப்படத்தின் பெரும்பகுதி படப்பிடிப்பு முடிவடைந்து விட்டது. இன்னும் ஒரு பாடல் மட்டுமே படமாக்கப்பட உள்ளது. அப்பாடலை ஏமி ஜாக்சனை கொண்டு அடுத்த மாதம் படமாக்க திட்டமிட்டு இருக்கிறார்கள்.

தற்போது 'ஐ' படத்தின் டப்பிங் பணிகள் படுதீவிரமாக நடைபெற்று வருகிறது. இப்படத்தில் இரண்டு விதமான பாத்திரங்களில் நடித்திருக்கிறார் விக்ரம். ஒரு பாத்திரத்திற்கான டப்பிங் முடித்துக் கொடுத்து விட்டாராம். அடுத்த பாத்திரத்திற்கான டப்பிங் அடுத்த மாதம் தொடங்க திட்டமிட்டு இருக்கிறார்கள்.

இப்படத்தில் ஏமி ஜாசன், தியா என்ற பாத்திரத்தில் நடித்திருக்கிறார். 'ஐ' படத்தினை முடித்துக் கொடுத்துவிட்டு தான் தனது அடுத்த படத்தின் அறிவிப்பை வெளியிட திட்டமிட்டு இருக்கிறாராம் ஏமி.

"எப்படி இருக்கும் 'ஐ' ? விக்ரம் அதில் எப்படி இருப்பார் ?" - எக்கச்சக்க சஸ்பென்ஸில்
காத்துஇருக்கிறது கோலிவூட் .
"எப்போ சார், 'ஐ' ரிலீஸ் ?" என்ற கேள்வி துரத்தியபடியே இருந்தாலும், அந்த
பதற்றம் துளியும் காட்டாமல், 'இந்த வெயில்க்கு இளநீர் நல்லது' என சிபாரிசு செய்துவிட்டு
பேச தயாராகிறார் ஷங்கர். தமிழ் மக்கள் ரசித்து ரசித்து கொண்டாடுகிற பிரம்மாண்ட
இயக்குநர்.

"நானே என் படத்தை பற்றி சொல்லிக்க கூச்சமா இருக்கு. ஆனால், பெரிய எதிர்பார்ப்பு எல்லாம்
இடத்துலையும் இருக்கு. நிச்சயம் எதிர்பார்ப்பை நிறைவு பண்ணும். அடுத்த கட்டம் போற அளவுக்கு

"ரொம்யான்டிக் த்ரிலர். என்னோட பிற படங்களின் சாயல் இருக்காது. அதே சமயத்தில் எங்கிட்ட என
எதிர்பார்க்கிறீர்களோ, அதெல்லாம் இருக்கும். சோஷியல் பிராப்ளம் தவிர, நடுவில் 'காதலன்', 'ஜீன்ஸ்' செய்திருக்கேன்.
சயின்ஸ் பிக்சன் போய் இருக்கேன் இதில், இது வரைக்கும் போகாத ரூட். 'எந்திர'னில் சில விசயங்கள் செய்து பார்த்து இருக்கோம். 'ஐ'இல் மேக்கப்பிற்குமுக்கியத்துவம் கொடுத்து இருக்கு. வேட்டா ஸ்டுடியோவில் பேசினோம். முன்னே கூட அவங்ககிட்ட பேசி இருக்கேன். அப்ப அவங்க பயங்கர பிஸீ. 'ஹாபிட்' படத்தில் இருந்தாங்க.

இப்ப மறுபடியும் 'ஐ' படத்திற்கான தேவைகள் குறித்து தொடர்பு கொண்டபோது. 'ஆஹா.. இதுல எங்களுக்கே தூண்டுதல சில விஷயங்கள் கிடைக்குது.. கண்டிப்பா செய்ரோம்'னு சொன்னாங்க. அவங்க பண்ணிருக்கும் அந்த விஷயங்கள்தாங்க. 'இந்தியா சினிமா' தமிழ் சினிமா இதுவரை கண்டிராத' காட்சிகளா வந்து இருக்கு.கதையும் இந்த பட்ஜெட்டை, விஷுவலை, மேக்கப்பை டிமாண்ட் செய்தது.

சீனாவில் கால்வாசி படத்திற்கு மேல் படமக்கிருக்கோம். ஆரம்பிச்சா கொஞ்ச நேரத்தில சீனாவுக்கு 'டேக் ஆஃப்' ஆயிடுவோம்.இன்டர்வல் வரைக்கும் படம் அங்கே தான். சீனாவில் படம் எடுக்கிறது கஷ்டம். நம்ம ஆளுங்க மாதிரி பணிவாக, அன்பாக கூட இருப்பாங்க. ஆனால், சமயங்களில் எல்லா இடத்துலும் கண்ணுக்கு தெரியாத டென்சன் உருவாகும். அங்க இருந்த ஒவ்வொரு நாளும் மிஷன் மாதிரி தான். தேடி எடுத்த லொகேஷன்கள் அப்படி.. வழக்கமான இடங்களை பார்க்க வைக்க விரும்பல. தேவை பட்ட இடங்களை நானே தேடி போனேன். சீனாவில் பெரிய பூக்கள் நிரந்த ஃபீல்ட் இருக்கு. உங்களக்கு 'அந்நியன்' ஆம்ஸ் டர்டாம் தோட்டம் ஞாபகம் வருமே.. அதை எல்லாம் தாண்டி ஒரு இடம். அதை 'நண்பன்' படம் பண்ணும்போதே பார்த்துட்டு வந்திட்டேன்.

ஒவ்வொரு இடமும் தூரம். நிறைய டிராவல்.. கார், படகுனு தாண்டி போக வேண்டி இருக்கும். அதெல்லாம் டூரிஸ்ட் ஸ்போட்டும் இல்லை. 'மேன் இன் ப்ளாக்'கில்
வேலை பார்தத மேரி வாட், இதில் ஒரு பாடல் பண்ணி இருக்காங்க. அதெல்லாம் பார்க்க பெரிய ட்ரீட். தற்பெருமை போல எடுத்துக்காதீங்க.. அற்புதமாக வந்திருக்கு ஃபைனல் டச்

"விக்ரம் இதில் காட்டி இருக்கிற கெட்டப், வித்தியாசம் எல்லாம் இதுவரை இந்திய சினிமா கண்டிராத சோதனை முயற்சி. அவர் சம்மதிச்சது எப்படி பரஸ்பரம் நம்பிக்கையா? அல்லது உங்களில் யாருக்காவது இதை செய்தே ஆகணும் என்ற விருப்பமா?"

" நல்ல கதை.. எந்த நடிகரும் 'இதை நான் செய்யனும்'னு ஆசைப்படுகிற கதை. அவர் கேரியரில் இன்னும் 'பளிச்'னு சொல்ல கூடிய விஷயம். எல்லா நடிகரும் ஆசைப்படலாம்.. ஆனால், எல்லா நடிகரும் பண்ண முடியுமானு தெரியலை, ஈஸீயும் கிடையாது. அப்படி செய்தால் அவர்கள் சில தியாகங்களுக்கு தயாரா இருக்கணும். குறிப்பா, ஒரே நேரத்தில் இரண்டு படம் செய்ய முடியாது. இதில் உண்டான பெரிய சிரமங்களை கடந்து தான் வரணும். 'இந்த கதை, இது மாதிரி இனி எனக்கொரு வாய்ப்பு கிடைக்குமா சார்'னு விக்ரம் அடிக்கடி சொல்லுவார். ரொம்ப நெகிழிந்து போய் இருக்கேன்.
கூடவே, எனக்கு டென்சனா இருக்கும். அவர் ஜாலியா இருப்பார். 'நான் ஒவ்வொரு நாளும் சந்தோஷமா இருக்கேன்'னு சொல்லுவார். இவ்வளவு சிரமங்களைக்கூட சந்தோஷமா

'இல்லை சார், பாதிக்காத மாதிரி பண்றேன்'னு அவர் தான் சொன்னார். அவர் மனைவிகிட்டே, 'நான் சொல்லலைங்க, அவர்தாங்க ஆர்வமா எடுத்து பண்றார்.. அவர் ஹெல்தை பார்த்துக்கங்க'னு
சொன்னேன்.' சார், அவர் ஹேப்பியா இருக்கார்'னு அவங்க சொன்னது ஆறுதல்.

அப்புறம் நியூசிலாந்தில் இருந்து எனக்கு போன். மேக்கப் பண்றவங்க, 'சார், உங்க ஆர்ட்டிஸ்ட் 'ஹெட் ஷேவ்' பண்ணிபாரா.. எங்களுக்கு மேக்கப் ஈஸீ ஆகிடும்'னு சொன்னாங்க. எனக்கு விக்ரம் செய்வார்னு தெரியும். ஆனால், நாம் எல்லாத்தையும் 'கிரான்டட்'டா எடுத்துக்க கூடாது இல்லையா ? அதனால அவர்க்கு போன் பண்ணி சொன்னேன். 'சார், இந்த படத்திற்காக எதையும் செய்வேன்'னு சொன்னார். எனக்கு நெகிழ்ச்சியாகி விட்டது. இப்படி ஒரு ஆர்டிஸ்ட் கிடைச்சா, அது எப்படி ஒரு கொண்டாட்டம் !

அது மட்டுமில்ல.. நாங்க விதவிதமா சாப்பிடுவோம். விக்ரம் ஒரு ப்ளாஸ்டிக் டப்பால இரண்டு, மூணு காய்கறி வகைகளை சுரண்டி சாப்பிட்டுகிட்டு இருப்பார். சந்தேகமில்லை, விக்ரமின் சிரமத்திற்கு, ஆர்வத்திற்கு, உழைப்பிற்கு, நடிப்புக்கு, பெரிய பலன் கிடைக்கும்!"

A grand finish to Ai

As reported earlier, the shooting of Ai is done with just one song remaining. This last song is apparently being planned to be shot in ten days starting this month end. A typical Shankar-esque massive set is currently under construction at Prasad Lab, Chennai, we hear. With that song, the film will be done and ready for its release in the last week of May or early June.

Here’s an update on Shankar’s mega budget that might not please the fans of AR Rahman. The music of Ai, which was expected to release in may, has been postponed by a couple of months. Sony Music India is yet to receive the master from AR Rahman, we hear and the Academy Award winner is apparently working day and night to deliver the best for Shankar.

Starring Vikram and Amy Jackson in the lead, Ai has immense scope for the hero to tryout different looks and the famous Weta Studios has assisted the director in makeovers and costumes.

Upen Patel, Ramkumar Ganesan and Suresh Gopi have played character roles in Ai and PC Sreeram has cranked the camera for the project.

Shankar opts for a grand set for Amy’s song in Ai

Shankar’s Ai, which has been in the making for a long time, is nearing completion. The crew is expected to wrap up the shoot with a song, which will feature Amy Jackson, in the city. We hear that a lavish set for a whopping sum has been erected for the interesting number, said to be Amy’s introduction song in the film.
It looks like Shankar's penchant for huge settings continues with Ai as well. A source close to the unit says, “A huge set designed like a sliced lemon at a cost of about 2 crore has been erected in a studio in the city. The team has been working on this set for more than a month. Amy will shoot for this song this week for about six days. The song will not feature Vikram but just Amy and Upen Patel. This is the only song pending in the film and with this shoot, the Ai crew will pack up.”
This isn’t the first time that Shankar has opted for a lavish set. In his earlier films like Sivaji, Indian and Mudhalvan, the director had opted for a royal backdrop in certain songs.
We also learn that Vikram has completed his portions in the film and is currently on a vacation with his family abroad.

Ace film-maker Shankar's next project Ai, featuring Tamil superstar Vikram and British model-turned-actress Amy Jackson, has been delayed further and will not release in June as planned.

Apparently, the delay in background score, coupled with the deferred release of Rajinikanth's Kochadaiyaan and Kamal Haasan's Vishwaroopam 2, is responsible for the postponement of the release of Ai, which has been in the making for the last 18 months. The movie, one of three biggest projects in Tamil in recent times, was scheduled for release during mid-2014. But things are not going as planned for Shankar. "This is not new for a movie directed by Shankar. As a master story-teller, he wants everything to be perfect. He does not compromise even if there is even two per cent variation. He is of the opinion that a delayed release is better than facing flak from the audience," a top distributor from Chennai said.

We hear that Shankar was not happy with a few scenes, involving Amy Jackson and he was forced to reshoot them with the actress. At the same time, A R Rahman, who is composing music and the background score of the movie, has reportedly sought more time to make it perfect.

Shankar is also particular that Ai gets an extended run in theatres without any interruption. Kochadaiyaan is releasing on May 23 and Vishwaroopam 2 is likely to hit the theatres in July or August. As both movies command huge market, including overseas, Shankar does not want Ai's performance to be affected.

"The movie has an interesting storyline with an universally appealing subject. He plans to release Ai in Telugu and Hindi other than the original Tamil. There are plans to release the movie in eight other Indian languages as well (dubbed). He has grand plans and therefore he does not mind waiting for the right time to release," a little birdie from Mumbai said.

It is said that the protagonist is a senior citizen, who tries to woo the winner of a beauty pageant by transforming himself as a youth. The actor, we hear, had reduced his weight to fewer than 50 kg during the shoot. The shooting for the movie had been put on hold for some time, owing to financial complications.

I wanted to work in Ai: Peter Hein
Chennai: Peter Hein, celebrated action director, who has choreographed breathtaking sequences for many south Indian films, is currently busy coordinating some crucial scenes from the much talked about bilingual, Baahubali. He’s having a tough time, handling 2,000 stuntmen and several elephants on the sets, but it’s going to be worthwhile waiting for the film, according to him.

“Each and every shot has been dealt with in a studied manner. Since it’s a period flick, there are huge requirements that we don’t see in regular movies. I have worked earlier with S.S. Rajamouli, the director, and Prabhas, the male lead in the film, which makes me feel at ease improvising various scenes.”

After Baahubali, Peter is likely to work with Karan Malhotra of Agneepath fame for a B’town movie and a Hollywood project.

He regrets having missed out on Shankar’s magnum opus, Ai, due to prior commitments. “He gives people the freedom to explore and come up with their best. He it was who catapulted my career to another level,” Peter says.

As someone who has worked with the master filmmaker in three consecutive films — Anniyan, Sivaji and Endhiran — Peter reveals that Endhiran had him ‘sweat it out’ to get it right. The stuntman, who broke 19 bones during the film, says that food had to be injected into him through the hip part of his body as his mouth and hands couldn’t open.

“I realised that a small act of carelessness on my part can have huge repercussions,” Peter says, “and I do try to be careful. My family worries, but they know that I am enjoying what I am doing.” Deprived of the normal joys of childhood, such as school, Peter holds his family close to his heart.

Chennai: Shankar, known for his highly experimental filmmaking style, is at it again. For the first time, the director is introducing a gay character in a pivotal role in his upcoming flick, Ai, which stars Vikram and Amy Jackson as protagonists.

High-profile make-up artiste, Ojas Rajani, who is behind the stylish looks of celebrities like Aishwarya Rai, Priyanka Chopra, Sridevi, Katrina Kaif and others, has bagged the role. Ojas will be playing himself, a celebrity make-up artist from Mumbai, in a character called Osma in Ai.

The film is produced by Aascar Films and Ojas’ role has much bearing on the script.

The B’town celebrity stylist is in Chennai in connection with a glitzy wedding when DC caught up with him. “My association with Shankarji began right from the days of his film, Hindustani. I did the make-up for Urmila in that film. Then I did Anniyan where I was the make-up and hair artiste for Sada. Later, Sivaji and Robo happened. Shankarji has always been fascinated with the way I work and with my character — the way I am. He used to tell me that he would cast me one day in his films,” Ojas tells us.

Gays are not always portrayed in a well researched or rounded manner in films, be it Hindi or Tamil, and didn’t he have apprehensions about the role? He responds, “Shankarji’s vision is different. I do agree that in Bollywood, we are shown in a demeaning manner in films. But what Shankarji offered me was an awesome character where I play myself in a love triangle. That’s the main reason I agreed to go on board. In fact, I was brought into Ai for Amy Jackson’s styling. Incidentally, I turned an actor,” Ojas says.

Ojas adds, “I designed my own wardrobe. Shankarji gave me a good budget for my clothes. Since I had worked with Vikram in Anniyan, the comfort levels were high. I wrote my dialogues in Hindi and English. Since my work involved doubling as a make up artiste for Amy, it was quite a tightrope walk.”

Will his acting stint continue? “If something interesting comes up, why not?” he says with a laugh. “I am not passionate about going in front of the camera. I am happy in my own space being a celebrity make-up artiste,” he ends.

Shankar spends a bomb on ‘Manoharudu’ set
Shankar’s magnum opus Manoharudu, is going to be one of his costliest movies till date. The director had already spent a whopping amount for a song starring Amy Jackson and Upen Patel.
Now, yet another majestic set has been erected for this film. A china park set has been specially built in Pollachi. This set costs around 1 crore, and it took more than 6 months for building this structure.
Some crucial scenes and a song will be shot in this set. Shankar and Vikram are teaming up once again after the blockbuster ‘Aparichithudu’.
Vikram is currently going through a rough patch in his career as some of him past movies bombed at the box office.

Ace cinematographer PC Sreeram is working with director Shankar in the director’s magnum opus, Ai. About Ai, PC Sreeram, in a recent interview, said, “I can only say that Shankar has taken technology to a totally different level in the film. Actor Vikram’s make-up, for instance, is a big highlight and I was pleasantly surprised to learn that some of the assistants of Paa’s makeup specialist Dominique, like Shaun, are involved in Ai.”

PC Sreeram, who has a habit of working in just one movie at a time, will hop on next to the Balki directorial Shamitabh, starring Dhanush, Amitabh and Akshara Haasan.

Ai team to release a video of Vikram’s lifestyle regimen
Vikram's weight gain and loss for his upcoming film with director Shankar, titled Ai, has been the topic of interest for those in the film industry for quite some time. Now, reliable sources say that the unit is to release a video made using shots that were filmed during Vikram's weight gain and loss programme for the film.

This video, they say, will be used by the team to spearhead the film's promotional campaign. If one is to go by what sources say, Vikram had to weigh just 50kg for scenes in the first half and around 110kg for those in the second.

A source close to the film unit says, "A beefed-up Vikram will be seen in the second half of the film. There are no graphics involved. To prove this point, the team has decided to showcase his hardwork. So, they filmed every move of Vikram's weight loss and gain programme. They are now planning to use these shots and release it in the form of a video in which Vikram will be seen sweating it out in the gym. The video will also give details of his diet plan and his lifestyle during the period he worked out. This video, which will be released a month before the film hits screens, will be the main promotional strategy."

கோடம்பாக்க அகராதியில் பிரமாண்டம் என்றால் ஷங்கர். ‘ஐ’ படம் தொடங்கப்பட்டு இரண்டு ஆண்டுகள் கடந்த நிலையில், கொஞ்சமும் சூடு குறையாத எதிர்பார்ப்பை உருவாக்கியிருக்கும் படம். இடையில் ‘ஐ’ படத்தைப் பற்றிய எதிர்மறைத் தகவல்களும் வலம் வந்தன. ஆனால் ஐ படத்தை வெற்றிகரமாக முடித்துக் கடந்த 17-ம் தேதி தனது பிறந்த நாளை மகிழ்வுடன் கொண்டாடியிருக்கிறார் ஷங்கர். விக்ரம் ஏற்றிருக்கும் கதாபாத்திரத்தின் ரகசியம் பொத்திப் பாதுகாக்கப்பட்டுவரும் நிலையில் இந்தப் படத்தின் டீஸர் டிரைலரை கட் செய்து பார்த்திருக்கிறார் ஷங்கர். அதை நமக்குத் திரையிட்டுக் காட்டினார் படத்தின் தயாரிப்பாளர் ஆஸ்கர் ரவிச்சந்திரன். இரண்டு வருட உழைப்பை ஒரே நிமிடத்தில் கண் முன் நிறுத்துகிறார்கள்.

‘ஐ’ படத்தில் ஷங்கர் கண்டிருக்கும் கனவு, விக்ரமின் உழைப்பு ஆகியவை என்ன என்பதற்கு இந்த டீஸர் ஒன்றே போதும் எனத் தோன்றுகிறது. முதல் ஷாட்டில் விக்ரம் கயிற்றில் தொங்கிக்கொண்டு வருகிறார். படத்தின் ஸ்டில்களைக்கூட ஏன் வெளியிடாமல் ரகசியம் காத்தார் ஷங்கர் என்பதற்குப் படத்தின் டீஸரில் பதில் இருக்கிறது. விக்ரமின் ஒவ்வொரு மேக்கப்பும், இது விக்ரமா என்று கேட்க வைக்கிறது. ‘ஐ’ தன்னளவில் ஒரு மைல்கல்லாக இருக்கும் என்று முதல் டீஸரைப் பார்க்கும்போது தோன்றுகிறது.

ஷங்கர் - விக்ரம் கூட்டணி உழைப்பு

How has the process of working on Ai's album been so far?
Ai has been radical, I think it's going to be a kick-ass album, it`s going to be a groundbreaker. Shankar and Rahman have always created something different.

Enthiran was a radical movie where Shankar kind of went into science fiction. But with Ai he's taken an even more different turn. It's got great singers, every song is brilliant. AR is going to take Tamil music through another change with this album. I can see the songs just taking off.

I was called to finish the project. I worked on it for about two months; everything was done and there were a few ancillaries to be recorded and some corrections to be done. It'll still come back to me. Tweaks will keep happening until the film comes out...and sometimes after all the time we spend tweaking we end up going back to the original


The plot of Ai is very heavily guarded. But what we know for sure is to expect grandeur. Can you tell us how the music complements the grandeur of the film?
You know what happens between Rahman and Shankar! The understanding between them is mind-blowing. Everything just falls in place. I don’t think anyone will complain. Everything absolutely complements – every theme, every little bit and piece.

It's 2014 AR and Shankar - you can only imagine what's going to happen. Everybody's been places, everyone's done stuff. Computers have only got faster. It's amazing the kind of stuff that can happen musically and visually with graphics. It's quite different. There are a lot of physical transformations from Vikram. That's one thing I can tell you, that after seeing the film it's just...wow...he's worked hard. Everything looks good. I can't wait for the film to release!

கடந்த 1986-ம் ஆண்டில் சிவாஜி புரடக்*ஷன் தயாரித்து பிரபு நடித்த 'அறுவடை நாள்' படத்தில்தான் கடைசியாக நடித்தது.

கடந்த 27 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு பிறகு இந்தப் படத்தில் 'பிசினஸ்மேன்' கதாபாத்திரத்தில் நடித்துள்ளேன். 'ஐ' படத்தின் இசை வெளியீட்டு விழாவில் ஹாலிவுட் நடிகர் அர்னால்டு கலந்துகொள்வதாக கேள்விப்பட்டேன். ஒரு தயாரிப்பாளராக படத்துக்கு செய்யும் 'எனி பப்ளிசிட்டி.. குட் பப்ளிசிட்டி' என்பதுதான் என் கருத்து. அந்த வகையில் அவர் வருவது மகிழ்ச்சி அளிக்கிறது.

படங்களைத் தயாரித்து முதலாளியாக இருப்பவன் நான். நடிப்பது ரொம்பவே கடினமான வேலை. மீண்டும் ஒரு படத்தில் நடிப்பேன் என்றெல்லாம் நினைத்து பார்க்கவே இல்லை. ஒரு பெரிய படம். அதில் நம்மோட பங்களிப்பும், அனுபவமும் சிறிய அளவில் இருக்கட்டுமே என்று சம்மதித்தேன். அவ்வளவுதான் இனி தொடர்ந்து நடிப்பதை பற்றியெல்லாம் நினைக்கவே இல்லை. அதுக்கு இயக்குநர், கதை என்று நிறைய விஷயங்கள் இருக்கிறதே''. இவ்வாறு ராம்குமார் கூறினார்.

MUMBAI: The Hollywood action star Arnold Schwarzenegger is to attend the audio launch of Director Shankar's upcoming movie AI, in Chennai on the 15th of September, 2014. Sony Music has acquired the audio rights of the film for which music has been composed by Oscar Winner A.R. Rahman and is extremely delighted at Mr. Schwarzenegger's arrival. Ai is a romantic action thriller Tamil film produced under the banner of Aascar Film (P) Ltd by V. Ravichandran, starring Vikram and Amy Jackson, due to release for Diwali 2014.

One of the most expected album of the year ‘I’ is all set to release on September 15th and here we get you the official track list from the album. The album consists of 8 tracks which are penned by Kabilan & Madhan Karky. So far, the A.R. Rahman – Shankar combination have kept beating their previous records in terms of quality/revenue and ‘I’ seems to carry forward the trend.

Anirudh has sung ‘Mersalaayitten’ and Sid Sriram, who rendered ‘Adiye’ in ‘Kadal’ has crooned ‘Ennodu Nee Irundhaal’. Out of 8 songs, there’s a remix and a reprise of above mentioned songs. The countdown to the big music extravaganza of the year has officially begun. The track list is not yet officially confirmed by the audio label, but our reliable source has confirmed that it more or less the same. However there were lot many things, like the initial portions & fast screen-play in Dasavatharam which guaranteed a success for the movie.

Mersalaayitten – Anirudh Ravichander, Neeti Mohan

This track falls in the same category as “Magudi Magudi” and “Sonapareeya”. Be it natural or auto-tuned, Anirudh’s voice seems like a misfit for Vikram, however Neeti Mohan excels outstandingly in her portions. Generally there isn’t much happening in the interludes except that eccentric Violin which strikes a super goal. The Thappattai percussion loop seems forcefully inserted for ethnic appeal in this otherwise international track. This can easily be passed off as a tailor-made track for Dhanush or Vijay.

The glitzy and snazzy arsenal of sounds are pedestrian according to this day and age as every high-end club has songs of this category competing with each other in the DJ’s playlist. Beyond all this emerges a very haunting melody that if extracted from the song and e.g. heard on a piano is bound to give listeners the chills and goose bumps so much so that the all skepticisms and doubts on whether ARR has compromised whilst composing this are pleasantly vindicated.

The remix is a result of the original being put to a higher gear trying to persuade listeners to shake their legs if they didn’t in the former.

Ennodu Nee Irundhaal – Sid Sriram, Sunitha Sarathy, Chinmayi

Sid’s sophomore track with ARR proves to be as opulent as this duo’s previous venture, although he sounds a tad bit like Yuvan in the intro. The reverb effect on the drums gives a radiant concert impression followed by choir portions which provide a gospel cum Gregorian chant aura. Sunitha Sarathy who always sounds Anglophonic sounds very Indian here for a change and furthermore she’s never sounded so mellow before.

ARR employs Western Classical instruments and their use is very subtle but is definitely a fine touch for this track which progresses to be a Rock number in its penultimate portion.

The reprise takes a U-turn for the better. The acoustic guitar immediately paints an image of a night camp fire. ARR continues to give Chimanyi mesmerising compositions and as a return favour she never lets him down.

Ladio – Nikita Gandhi

This track belongs to the Scouse lass with the backing of Nikita Gandhi who sings with a competent effort. ARR again does not compromise when it comes to melody in this international club banger. It might not be everyone’s cup of tea but those who follow this musical genre will know ARR has carried out full proof research into the conventions of current international pop scene to deliver a commendable job like this which might have been out of his comfort zone. Overall ARR proves he can handle pressure with ease and does not need to ape sounds from other artists to cater to the majority’s needs.

Pookkalae Sattru Oyivedungal – Haricharan, Shreya Ghoshal

Immediately catchy hummable as it’s a song that you might feel was already inside you just waiting to reach your ears. In comparison to the other tracks the diction sounds very authentic i.e. not relying on international influences. The title of the song is it’s hook line and what a killer line it is. ARR’s recent accompanier, classically trained Haricharan supports him once again and with Shreya Ghoshal this romantic number doesn’t fall short of taking the listener to cloud 9. Shreya’s “Alaap” is just another feather in her versatility cap. This song should storm the charts without much delay and there’s no denying that it’s my favourite purely because of the involvement of such great singers. On a side note it feels like ARR is trying to pay homage to “Kadhal Anukka’s” second interlude in this tracks second interlude.

Aila Aila (Koncha Konchamai) – Aditya Rao, Natalie Di Luccio

ARR rightfully abandons structure in this track and the result is purely experimental something akin to “Boom Boom Robo Da”. Those operatic vocals by Natalie Di Luccio merging with the contrasting Hindi verses and Bhangra Dhols are the highlight of this track. The track is simply worth a repeat just to hear the blend of musical genres that aren’t likely to fall in the same equation. Whattay treat?!

Rahman Ji and Shankar once again provide another memorable album, though some songs are more memorable than others the product in conclusion is apt for today’s generation and fans expecting vintage ARR shan’t be disappointed either.

Ravichandran is someone who has never come out in the public eye and you would wonder if this is the man who has churned out mega blockbusters such as Anniyan, Dasavatharam and now 'I'. Till date there hasn't been a single photograph of the man, who is among the most powerful producers and distributors in the country.

I don't have a family photo as I am not used to it. For my marriage too, there was no photo. Even in my family picture (which he shows us), my kids would be standing just with their mother.

The whole city is excited about the arrival of international megastar Arnold Schwarzenegger, who will be sharing the stage along with our very own Superstar Rajinikanth, for the audio launch. A grand teaser of the movie would also be launched along with the music. Ravichandran makes sure that all the arrangements and financial requirements are met, sitting in his spacious office room, also comprising a home theater system. He is confident of releasing 'I' for Diwali, with the film's production work almost complete and the post-production going on in full swing.

Considering the 2 year long production period of 'I', when you mention the word 'delay', Aascar bounces back quickly.

Shankar has done just 10 films in his 25 year long career. 'I' has also been filmed at his general pace and there isn't a big delay, save a couple of months postponement due to the CG work and Vikram's ill-health.

Ravichandran is naturally filled with pride while talking about 'I'

We are increasing the level of a film's content, with 'I'. It will be the peaks of grandeur and magnificence. I have screened the rough teaser to more than 10000 people. All were stunned.

Indian film history would be split into 'before I and after I'. Warner Bros were shocked at what they saw. If a Hollywood company like that releases 'I', the film has the potential to do mind-boggling business in excess of 5000 crores. We don't have that privilege here, but are still trying to the best of our capabilities.

Half the film has been shot in China and we are trying for an agreement with the government there to screen 'I' in maximum theaters. We have to reach 'I' to the nook and corners of the world as it deserves that reach and exposure. We have to be proud of what Shankar and team have achieved.

The strain involved in the project is huge, 2.5 years of hard work is there. We have employed about 10000 people for the film. 'I' would be a jaw-dropping experience. The whole world would look back at Indian cinema and recognize Shankar as India's James Cameroon. It's unimaginable - people will be moved to tears. P.C.Sreeram's work is remarkable too, he is after all the Godfather of all current cameramen. 'I' means grandeur, each song would be equally fascinating.

The whole family can enjoy the movie and it would be totally worthy of the ticket money spent. People have already decided to see 'I' with their entire family. It caters to 60% of the audience base. They are just waiting for me to release the movie. It's the same case in Andhra too.

I - SKY IS THE LIMIT

He also screens to us, the high-pitched melody number 'Ennodu Nee Irundhaal, Uyirodu Naan Iruppen' filmed on a beastly Vikram and the angelic Amy Jackson. He keeps humming this song even while speaking to us. The visual output is stunning and seeing Vikram in this song is sure to bring about a jaw-dropping effect, not to forget A.R.Rahman's truly grand and international composition. Before playing the song, he explained a bit about Vikram's shocking efforts for this song.

All this is original make-up. We have about 4000 hours of footage of the elaborate make-up process alone, from the film's start to prove that there is no CG involved. Vikram weighs just 45 kgs in this song, and there was about 12 hours of make-up involved every day. Vikram used to be in a large fridge when the shot wasn't happening, and food was given to him through a tube. The song was shot for 2 hours each day and a doctor was there on the spot everyday to monitor Vikram's health.

Despite many big films clashing for Diwali and a possible theater crunch ahead, Ravichandran doesn't seem to be perturbed one bit

We will screen 'I' in the available theaters. My film will surely get theaters and if a film is good, people will accept it even if many films are releasing simultaneously. If all films are good and achieve success, it would be very healthy. People ll be thrilled to see such good films together.

Before, big stars like Rajini, Kamal, Vijayakanth, Bhagyaraj and TR used to have their films released together. 5 films would be confirmed for every Diwali, with the same Raja sir providing music for all of them.

Now, people are hesitating and shying away from competing. Releasing a film solo in too many screens, may result in deserted halls by the matinee shows. But even then, success parties are being celebrated on the night of the release day itself when the ground reality is clear. This is shameful. People are clear and know what is true and can never be cheated by such misleading campaigns.

Theaters will also act quick and shift a good film to the bigger theater as soon as the public verdict becomes clear. I have personal experience in this regard.

Mersalaayitten seems tailor-made for Anirudh’s digitally-enhanced vocals; even sounds techno-enough like his own music, barring that very-Rahman’ish violin interlude. Ennodu nee‘s reprise works better than the original’s soul gospel choir where Sid Sriram laboriously force-fits Tamil; worked in Adiye, not here. Aila‘s experimentation works, though – an accessible melange that mixes techno-pop, classical opera and a surreal Hindi choir with ease! Nikita Gandhi’s new form of Tamil fits the zany, but flippant techno-mix in Ladyo. Finally, it’s Pookkalae that wins the soundtrack, with its beautifully simple and hummable melody. Despite its personal pronoun title, this is a rather modest soundtrack!

It is indeed a marvelous promo-presentation by Shankar and team. The posters & trailer are mind blowing. Glad that Shankar is still exploring ‘the’ classics and literary works in his films, be it, at least in a song. After having inspired from Frankenstein, Dracula or Arsène Lupin, Shankar embarks into Fanstasy (Terriying) Romance in his new movie "I". The few poster revealed and the 60sec trailer gives us a clue from where he got his inspiration this time. Its not only the idea that is significant but its incorporation in a modern format is mere class.

The teaser looks mighty impressive. Been a long time since I was hooked so much to a teaser. Hopefully the movie lives up to the expectations created. As for its competition with Katthi and Poojai, I am a little apprehensive about the sharing of screens. For movies as big as these (atleast the first two ;) ), a safe bet would be a solo release. (It is known that Aascar isn't a huge of fan of this concept and I for one believe he's gonna stick to his date). But looking at the way things have panned out for I,there is a good chance of the tide turning against the other two if they release on the same date. Personally I would like it though..;)...Oru kallula rendu maanga aana kathai aayidum..Seriously getting to watch a tamil movie here in Chicago is tough. It is indeed a marvelous promo-presentation by Shankar and team. The posters & trailer are mind blowing. Glad that Shankar is still exploring ‘the’ classics and literary works in his films, be it, at least in a song. Amy is the core role of story who brings things together.Vikram plays a role of villager. Amy (NRI) plays
a role of a model.Amy comes to her birth place (vikram's village) after 16years, since childhood. She
accidentally meets Vikram there. Situations brings them closer.

Once, Vikram admires her pics where she posed for her modeling. He himself dreams to
be a model someday. Meanwhile, Amy becomes a brand ambassador for a MNC and also as a PROMOTIONAL MODEL for Olympics, Beijing. She gets this opportunity defeating the so-called villain Upen,who was former brand ambassador for that MNC.

He leaks a spam video of Amy to spoil her fame. He does a lot to it, where he gets information about Vikram and his dream too.In the event, there comes a situation where,Upen gets spoiled by his own experiment failing him. (His own beauty gets spoiled by his attempt to spoil Amy)His anger develops much stronger. He uses his father's chemical factory to develop a medicine to gain his beauty back.

He wanted to test it with someone, where he remembers of Vikram, who dreams to be a
model. He uses Vikram's dream as an opportunity and cheats him to inject the chemical into him. He
also asks Vikram to body build for better results.

As a result of all this, Vikram becomes the most charming model in no time. He's being
selected to be one of the top models.Amy admires him for such a massive looks and improvements.
She starts loving him (she already admires Vikram's character in the beginning, which now getting into love).

Vikram knows nothing about Amy's love. When everything seems going fine, there begins the side effects of the chemical.The chemical had no positive effect on Upen,which made things worse.

Interval breaks in there...

Then comes the scenes of Rapid changeover from normal Vikram to animal Vikram. His anger grows day by day on his own beauty.When he got to know the result is due to the chemical used, his grudge on Upen gets
stronger.

Adding to it, he thinks Amy is also into this chemical injection.Upen is nowhere to be found. He hides himself.Animal Vikram going in search of Upen.Meanwhile, Amy plays a typical model, whostarts hating Vikram (due to his change in luks tat became ugly). She is getting engaged to a
rich guy.

There Vikram finds her and kidnaps her,(thinking he might get Upen by kidnapping her) But when he knows the truth, its too late.

Upen is now grown into an worse animal than Vikram. And rest is a usual Hero versus Villain, with a
slight difference of both being Animals.
