The reports coming in suggest that the center is apparently planning upon conferring Padma Bhushan for the veteran for the services he has rendered towards the growth of cinema.

Yuvraj Singh and Vidya Balan are also likely to be the recipients of the Padma Awards 2014! The official announcement, however, is expected by midnight.

We had reported yesterday that Kamal Haasan is a proud recipient of the Padma Bhushan award. The actor had organised a press meet today, which is happening at his residence at the moment (26th January, 1:00 PM), to express his gratitude on the same.

Here are a few snippets on what Kamal Haasan is speaking about, in the press meet.

"I would like to dedicate this award to my Gurus, family and my fans. There are many unsung heroes in our country and a lot of talents have missed out on honours like this. I am glad that my work is recognised.

My search for excellence will never end. It's more like hunger for me. The world is always changing and my journey will never stop."

Kamal was apparently queried if he would write an autobiography for which he replied saying that he would not, as there would be a lot of truth in it, which may pain many, and he does not want to lie.

"Honours and Bronx cheers will not affect me," he says. "I was the same last year and I will remain the same forever."

The actor also gave us a quick update on Vishwaroopam 2. The CG works are on for the movie. He will announce its release date soon.

Thinking of watching Drishyam when I get a chance. Lal's just amazing and I've watched a few of his Malayalam hits. One of those was the original 'Kreedom' that Ajit remade. He was simply awesome ... Very few can do justice remaking Lal's classics and Kamal's is right on par!

All the lines quoted above are from his movies. I dont know why movie dialogues should be taken so seriously. He is just an actor, a professional who has been doing his job well. No one expects him to get involved in politics or raise his voice against his country. Simply showing terrorists as terrorists has made him suffer a lot. And now we blame him for enjoying the fruits of his labour?

If you feel he must have rejected the award, its just your opinion. IMO he deserves much more national and international recognition. For a man who does international business, every award he gets will help increasing his global reach.

All the lines quoted above are from his movies. I dont know why movie dialogues should be taken so seriously. He is just an actor, a professional who has been doing his job well. No one expects him to get involved in politics or raise his voice against his country. Simply showing terrorists as terrorists has made him suffer a lot. And now we blame him for enjoying the fruits of his labour?

If you feel he must have rejected the award, its just your opinion. IMO he deserves much more national and international recognition. For a man who does international business, every award he gets will help increasing his global reach.

Nope! Kamal IS taken seriously as a creator and an actor BECAUSE he chose to do films, write films which Sought to project - Moral Anger, Rebelling against religious dogma which bordered on what could be considered as Anarchy (a la Kejriwal's , well justified!). He carefully projected or emanated this as a creator.

That is why nobody cares about what "Ramakrishna madam + Dhayanandha saraswathi discourse lover" - Rajinikanth Says on issues like these, or even what a Socio-politically naive Ilaiyaraja says or acts in issues like these, but would carefully dissect people like Kamal.

This is an existential question for Kamal. 3 decades of carefully groomed image as a thinker/creator - now exposes that he selectively goes blind, amnesiac over important issues like the eezham genocide (comparing & contrasting to how he reacted in December 1992, March 1993 and for Kovai - February 1998 publicly)...

This is the morbid selective amnesia which will lead to questioning his motives, his selective silences!...

That is why Subramaniam Swamy and Cho Ramaswamy as open enemies of tha tamil ethnic identity would be "respected" a lot more than - "nanRikkadan seluththum" bleddy back-stabbers like Vairamuthu and on a idealogical plane - people lika Kamal's - aquiescence to Congress hindian nationalists machinations, would be despised more.

Thats from an archaic practice of calling the Apaches and other Native americans as "Indians", probably because Christopher columbus originally wanted to find a trade route to India (Chera naadu to be precise) but instead found the american continent.

And Marlon brando's refusal/rejection of the Oscar was not "Just" for the way the hollywood projected Native americans, but also for the Hundreds of years of injustices meted out to Native americans by the Occupying European colonial caucasians. BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. -- For 200 years we have said to the Indian people who are fighting for their land, their life, their families and their right to be free: ''Lay down your arms, my friends, and then we will remain together. Only if you lay down your arms, my friends, can we then talk of peace and come to an agreement which will be good for you.''

When they laid down their arms, we murdered them. We lied to them. We cheated them out of their lands. We starved them into signing fraudulent agreements that we called treaties which we never kept. We turned them into beggars on a continent that gave life for as long as life can remember. And by any interpretation of history, however twisted, we did not do right.

We were not lawful nor were we just in what we did. For them, we do not have to restore these people, we do not have to live up to some agreements, because it is given to us by virtue of our power to attack the rights of others, to take their property, to take their lives when they are trying to defend their land and liberty, and to make their virtues a crime and our own vices virtues.

But there is one thing which is beyond the reach of this perversity and that is the tremendous verdict of history. And history will surely judge us.
But do we care? What kind of moral schizophrenia is it that allows us to shout at the top of our national voice for all the world to hear that we live up to our commitment when every page of history and when all the thirsty, starving, humiliating days and nights of the last 100 years in the lives of the American Indian contradict that voice?

It would seem that the respect for principle and the love of one's neighbor have become dysfunctional in this country of ours, and that all we have done, all that we have succeeded in accomplishing with our power is simply annihilating the hopes of the newborn countries in this world, as well as friends and enemies alike, that we're not humane, and that we do not live up to our agreements.

Perhaps at this moment you are saying to yourself what the hell has all this got to do with the Academy Awards? Why is this woman standing up here, ruining our evening, invading our lives with things that don't concern us, and that we don't care about?

Wasting our time and money and intruding in our homes.

I think the answer to those unspoken questions is that the motion picture community has been as responsible as any for degrading the Indian and making a mockery of his character, describing his as savage, hostile and evil. It's hard enough for children to grow up in this world. When Indian children watch television, and they watch films, and when they see their race depicted as they are in films, their minds become injured in ways we can never know.

Recently there have been a few faltering steps to correct this situation, but too faltering and too few, so I, as a member in this profession, do not feel that I can as a citizen of the United States accept an award here tonight. I think awards in this country at this time are inappropriate to be received or given until the condition of the American Indian is drastically altered. If we are not our brother's keeper, at least let us not be his executioner.

I would have been here tonight to speak to you directly, but I felt that perhaps I could be of better use if I went to Wounded Knee to help forestall in whatever way I can the establishment of a peace which would be dishonorable as long as the rivers shall run and the grass shall grow.

I would hope that those who are listening would not look upon this as a rude intrusion, but as an earnest effort to focus attention on an issue that might very well determine whether or not this country has the right to say from this point forward we believe in the inalienable rights of all people to remain free and independent on lands that have supported their life beyond living memory.

Thank you for your kindness and your courtesy to Miss Littlefeather. Thank you and good night.

''Tamil cinema has the talent to reach Hollywood levels'' - Kamal Haasan

Following the announcement of the Padma Bhushan for Kamal Haasan, various people from the film fraternity and the press met him to congratulate him on the same.

On that regard, today the 28th of January, Kamal Haasan's office at Eldams Road, Alwarpet, Chennai was flooded with celebrities and close friends of the legend. S.V Shekar, Dhananjayan, Actress Lissy, Ramesh Arvind, Crazy Mohan were a few among the people who were present at the venue.

The Behindwoods team too met the legend and congratulated him on being honoured with one of the most prestigious titles in India. Speaking to Behindwoods, the actor said

"I am happy to have received this award. There are many other deserving people in our country. I am happy for Vairamuthu and Santosh Sivan too. They truly deserve it - in fact they should have won it a lot earlier."

Talking about where Tamil Cinema stands, this is what he said

"Our industry is really getting better. We have numerous talents in Tamil Cinema who have the caliber to take our industry to the level of Hollywood. At the same time, the Oscars are given by an Academy.. Padma awards or the National awards are given by the govt of India.. rejecting this award means rejecting an honour bestowed upon an artist like Kamal Haasan..

so what is India? India can be any of the following ..

1. A country which is an off-shoot of the british colony called India
2. A country dominated by majorities such as Hindus or Hindi speaking people
3. The govt at the centre .. now the congress party and its corrupt coalition setup
4. The People of this country from varied cultures and races

etc etc ...

Kamal or any even me might have a slightly different idea of India.. a "Nation" (not a country) united by the ideals of our nationalist movement .. ideals like Satyagraha (though effective at the mercy of the British) .. now the democratic setup of our country is surely corrupt and these ideals suffer in the hands of politicians and bureaucrats.. though the majority among these clan is evil like those who sided with the Sinhalese in orchestrating a genocide, our nation also has good people.. people who are genuine, people who uphold human rights and people who truly appreciate the true achievers of our nation .. One can accept such awards in the hope of nurturing such ideals and the people who follow them, though they are a minority now ..

Kamal or any celebrity with high integrity, must speak up for atrocities like the one that happened in Srilanka when it has not been sufficiently highlighted in the main stream media.. I think Kamal has played a small role in speaking up for the affected .. he has done it since the 80's when he held a procession against the massacre in Colombo .. Tenali and now a few times in the media .. he could have done more but he cant be chided for his associations with Hindu Ram or DGP Karthikeyan .. who knows he might be arguing with them against their misdeeds..

Kamal Haasan to do Drishyam`s Tamil version

Director Jeethu Joseph will direct the Tamil version of Drishyam, produced under the banner of Suresh Balaji and George Pious`s Wide Angle Creations, with Kamal Haasan playing the lead. The shooting of the film has been scheduled to start during June this year.

Jeethu Joseph said: "We just signed the film and I am back in Kochi after meeting Kamal Haasan. The shoot will start in the second half of the year and the rest of the cast and other details are being worked out."

Drishyam has been a phenomenal success and is regarded as the highest grosser in Malayalam ever. The Telugu version of the film is being made with Venkatesh in the lead.

Jeethu had the option of directing the Tamil and Hindi versions. The talks on the Hindi remake are on and sources inform that there have been some discussions already with a few prominent Bollywood stars.

Remaking a quality movie like Drishyam for the tamil audience is not necessarily a bad thing. Kamal has a penchant to remake movies that he finds impressive with good content. After all, the movie in question is not some hit masala flick and ML is not some run-of-the-mill actor. I believe it has a high emotional content and thats right up Kamal's way.

I particularly found a comment that I can relate to and found interesting .. For those unfamiliar with Lal or haven't seen his movies, the guy can quite easily blend into a common man's role at ease.

"I am a devoted Kamal fan and also equally a Lalettan fan. Georgekutty character is like second nature to Lalettan, he can effortlessly transform himself as a common-man-without-face-or-identity. But Kamal has to try hard to hide the actor Kamal and unfold Georgekutty on screen. Kamal often takes aid of makeups to achieve this; will be interesting to watch what he does here.

I also think, the nativity and locale of the original is hard to match in Tamil. More than Kamal accepting this project, I am glad Jeethu is directing the Tamil version also. Any other director would be an insult to Tamil audience.. Remember Tamil version of Sibimalayil classic Baratham, Lal Jose’s Classmates or Fasil’s Manichitra Thazhu?

Eagerly awaiting the Tamil version, particularly the scene where Mohanlal comes running to avoid police inquiring his daughter. The emotions he showed while running and subtle panting, controlling his breath …awesome.

Some of Kamal’s versatility can’t be easily matched by any other actor, but clearly Lalettan is on his own turf here."

Indiaglitz, first broke the news of Ulaganayagan Kamlahassan reprising the role of Mohanlal, the Malayalam superstar, in the Tamil remake of the laletten's recent super hit film Drishyam. Jeethu Joseph who directed Lalettan, one of India's much acclaimed actors, in this critically acclaimed film is second time lucky for calling shots for Kamalhassan, who is equally acclaimed as great actor and also a renowned director.

The film is also being remade in Telugu with Venkatesh playing the lead role and Joseph is directing the Telegu version as well. Plans are underway to take the script to Bollywood.

Meanwhile Jeetu Joseph has told in a recent interview that his initial choice for playing the role of George Kutty a father of two teenage girls was Superstar Rajnikanth. Superstar, who has recently completed his part in the film Kochadiiyaan directed by his younger daughter Soundharya is said to have heard the script narrated by Joseph and liked it. However the star had apprehensions about the few scenes since he felt that they may not be suitable for the liking of Tamil audience. Hence he politely refused the offer.

After that, Joseph narrated the script to Kamalhassan. The star who is currently busy shooting Viswaroopam 2, the sequel to his 2013 super hit film Viswaroopam is said to have liked the script and instantly gave the nod to star in it.

Joseph also said that, Kamal who is also a renowned script writer, has assured that he will make a few suitable changes in the script. Joseph ended his interview stating that he will sit with the multi-talented star and finalize the changes in the script very soon.

For kamal, Refusing to accept padma is not a huge issue - Kamal could have even refused privately and someone would have just leaked that out later.

The point that he is taken seriously enough to be expected to symbolically represent Thamizh Angst - is a measure of the respect that he has, is an implicit pointer. Most ppl miss it!

That he is caustically criticized for not doing it is the exasperation of people who have seen him tear into the Hindutva wolves during Feb.1998 right after the bomb blasts at Kovai; and his deliberate acquiescence to congress lobbies is at the heart of this exasperation.

I lost many personal friends because i criticised/argued/fought against BJP/Hindoo goons, during that incredibly charged atmosphere of Feb 1998 in TN. One who had really seen and felt it, would realise the point am driving home.

And BJP ascended to power the very next month and conducted the Pokhran tests in May 1998, which resulted in India being sought to be economically barricaded by western powers and denied many Trade-commerce ventures. One such venture was Kamal's then ongoing "Maruthanaayagam" which had to be shelved - because French/british and American governments refused to clear any tie ups in production ventures in india, in any field.

Kamal gave so many acidic interviews against the Hindutva parivar at that juncture, and this forced him to make his classic anti-hindutva, with his unmistakable dravidianesque narrative, "Hey Ram" after Marudhanaayagam was dropped because of Pokhran Tests.

That Kamalhassan - now refuses to symbolize the tamil angst against congi sponsored Tamil genocide in eezham, and even refuses to give even a passing remark against the Koodankulam nuclear plant - being imposed upon TN people.

Kamal Haasan to do Drishyam`s Tamil version


Director Jeethu Joseph will direct the Tamil version of Drishyam,
produced under the banner of Suresh Balaji and George Pious`s Wide
Angle Creations, with Kamal Haasan playing the lead. The shooting of the
film has been scheduled to start during June this year.

Joseph said: "We just signed the film and I am back in Kochi after
meeting Kamal Haasan. The shoot will start in the second half of the
year and the rest of the cast and other details are being worked out."





Drishyam has been a

It has been confirmed beyond doubts that Padma Bhushan actor Kamalhassan is going to star in the Tamil remake of Malayalam super hit and critically acclaimed film Drishyam. Jeetu Joseph who directed Malayalam Superstar Mohanlal and Meena in the film is all set to direct the Ulaganayagan who will be reprising Lal's role of a father of two teenage girls.

As reported earlier, the script of the film will go in for minor changes suiting the taste and preferences of Tamil audience and Kamal himself will be discussing and finalising the changes along with the director. Since the star is busy with his commitments for the magnum opus VIswaroopam 2 and Uthama Villain the film to be produced by director Lingusamy and to be directed by his good friend and actor Ramesh Aravind, Drishyam in Tamil will go on floors only in the second half of this year.

Regarding the heroine of the film, sources close to the team say that Meena will be reprising the role played by herself in Malayalam. Meena's role in Dirshyam has been well appreciated by critics as well as fans and if she does the same in Tamil, it will be a worthy comeback for this actress referred fondly referred by Tamil audience as a woman with beautiful eyes.

Meena, who remained as one of the leading heroines in all the four industries of South Indian Cinema until the last decade paired up with Kamalhassan in only one film, which is Avvai Shanmugi directed by K.S.Ravikumar, that released in 1996. This apart, the actress has made a cameo appearance in Kamalhassan's 2001 super hit film Thenali, which was directed by Ravikumar again.

It is well known that Padma Bhushan Kamal Hassan will be acting in the Tamil remake of Drishyam, the Malayalam super hit film directed by Jeetu Joseph.The original had Malayalam superstar Mohanlal playing the lead role and Ulaganayagan is set to replace Lalettan in the tamil version directed by the same man, while Meena is expected to be retained. However the actress who has earlier paired up with Kamal in the 1996 film Avvai Shanmugi has stated that she has not been contacted by anyone for Drishyam Tamil remake as yet.

Kamal will be start working on the film in the later half of this year after finishing his magnum opus directorial venture Viswaroopam 2 and also Uthama Villain to be directed by his good friend and co-actor Ramesh Aravind

Now the latest we hear about Drishyam Tamil remake is that Kamal has offered 50 days call sheet for the project and demanded 20 crores as his salary to act in the film. We also hear that Suresh Balaji of Wide angle creations who is going to produce the Tamil version of Drishyam has agreed to met the demand, considering the Indian and overseas market share enjoyed by the star. Trace circles also say that Drishyam Tamil remake with Kamalhassan's name, can be sold for an amount not less than rupees 30 crores in Tamilnadu alone and it is certainly a worthy deal for the makers.

Heard from my seniors sometime in the 90s that there was a rivalry between the two when Nadhiya was one of the Top heroines.. Nadhiya acted with almost all top heroes that time but not with Kamal.

In my observation, Nadhiya seems to have serious "feminist attitude problem" worse than Radhika or Sugashini or anybody I know of. I dont think she respects any "Heros" including Rajni and Kamal in Tamil! :)

Nadhiya pair up with Kamal for the first time?

Drishyam, the Malayalam superhit film starring Mohan Lal and Meena in the lead roles is being remade in Telugu and Tamil Whil Venakatesh and Meena will reprise the lead roles in Telegu Ulaganayagan Kamalhassan is going to take up the role played by Mohan Lal in Tamil .

Regarding the heroine of the Tamil version, initially it was said that Meena would reprise the role played by her in Malayalam. Now we hear that popular Tamil and Malayalam heroine of the 1980's Nadhiya is being considered for the role.

Sources even say that Nadhiya has better chances to grab the offer since she has never paired up with Kamalhassan in the past. Meena has played the same role in Malayalam and she has already paired up with Kamal in the film Avvai Shanmugi.


Another version of the story says that Nadhiya may be included in the cast to play the role of the Lady Inspector General played by Asha Sarath in Malayalam.

The lead lady of Drishyam Tamil will be Nadhiya or Meena or some one else? We will have to wait for a few more weeks for things to get cleared

மோகன்லால், மீனா நடித்து மலையாளத்தில் ‘திரிஷ்யம்’ படம் வெளியாகி வெற்றிகரமாக ஓடியது. ரூ.50 கோடிக்கு மேல் வசூலையும் ஈட்டியது. இப்படத்தை வேறு மொழிகளில் ரீமேக் செய்ய போட்டா போட்டி நடக்கிறது.

தமிழ் ரீமேக்கில் கமலஹாசனும், தெலுங்கு ரீமேக்கில் வெங்கடேசும் நடிக்கின்றனர். இந்தியிலும் இப்படம் தயாராகிறது. மோகன்லால் கேரக்டரில் அக்ஷய்குமார் நடிப்பார் என தெரிகிறது.

It is well known that Kamalhassan is acting the male lead role in the Tamil remake of Mohanlal starrer Malayalam film Drishyam. The film directed by Jeetu Joseph had Meena playing Lal's wife. The Tamil versions is going to be helmed by the same director and the initial talks about the Ulaganayagan's pair in the film pointed to Meena. Later it was said that Nadhiya will replacey Meena in the Tamil version since the former has never acted with the Padma Bhushan actor.

Now some other sources reveal that Simran is one of the strong contenders for the role. Soruces also state that Simran has apparently conveyed her wish to pair up with Kamal for the third time after Pammal K.Sambandham and Panchathanthiram. The films released as back to back ventures of the Kamlahassan which lead to rumours linking the two.

Simran's marriage to Deepak Baga put an end to those rumours and in a few years Simran was back to acting. Though she has done a few memorable roles in silver screen like the one in Gautham Menon's Varanam Ayiram her second innings in k-town has not been so successful so far. Hence the actress started concentrating on small screen and is now busy with mega serials and television shows. If she grabs the offer to star in Drishyam Tamil version, it will surely help to stabilise her position in the tinsel world.

Moondram Pirai- One movie which still baffles me. Before pelting me with stones for my opinion ( and possible misinterpretation), I hope you read this with an open mind and correct me if I'm wrong (I'm still learning and evolving as a film student).

Kamal, comes across as a bit of a loner who resuces Sridevi and takes the role of her carer willingly. I'm with the director until this point but he completely shocks me when he begins to show a completely sane man who is a teacher (which again borders on a carer role) developing feelings for a woman who has regressed into the mind of a young kid (taking on the teacher-younger student dynamic now) who he knows is in no capacity to return his feelings. It seems twisted and wrong on so many levels and maybe that is what the director intended to accomplish, I have no idea. I have the strongest feeling the romantic angle was introduced for commercial purposes and somehow marred the beauty of what could have otherwise been a world class movie. Any takers to enlighten this young mind??

I watched the movie long back and I don't remember many of the scenes. But in which scene did you see Kamal show his 'romantic feelings' to Sridevi? The despair and frustration his character shows in the climax are just because she does'nt even remember him. Loneliness and losing a close friend makes him cry.

மூன்றாம் பிறை படத்தில் எனக்குப் பிடிக்காத பாத்திரம் என்றால் அது சில்க் ஸ்மிதாதான். பாலுவே வணிக நோக்குடன் அதை இடைச் செருகியிருக்கிறேன் என ஒரு பேட்டியில் குறிப்பிட்டிருந்தார். அப்படியே நாம் எடுத்துக் கொண்டாலும், சில்க் பாத்திரப் படைப்பு, வசனம் எல்லாம் மலிவான உணர்ச்சிகளை மக்களிடம் சுரண்டும் எண்ணத்தில் கையாளப் பட்டிருக்கும் ஒரு அதீதம். இயல்பாகவே அப்பாத்திரம் வெளிப்படுத்துவதாகவே அமைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கலாம். மோகமுள் படத்தைப் போல.

Kamal might deserve padmabhooshan for his immense contribution in giving back tremendously to the cinema field which had given him many things, but in general the clamor for giving awards / titles / undeserving accolades to film fraternity should get reduced.....there are so many achievers in various fields who are not even taken note of............

Moondram Pirai - Romance

While writing that title, I felt that it was not a suitable one, but as the topic in hand revolves around it, I could not find an appropriate one. Its been a while (say few years) that I have watched Moondram Pirai,but the images are still intact and I am just recollecting few points from the notes I had taken while watching the film.

A womanhood is culturally described as multidimensional where she takes up different roles in her life. That was exploited by many film makers. What Balu Mahendra (BM) puts forward is the male version. The 2 main characters share emotions from the male POV where he supports her as a father, brother, friend, teacher & of coarse dreams of his body needs. Here is where BM carefully - in the sense without using any vulgarity - showcases lust. About the other needs, caricatured as Sins are also present in the movie.

Yes, Kamal plays a teacher, but his student is a different one. She is not a kid but an adult. So the angle of 'teacher-student' should be approached with care, as its not that which is highlighted but how Kamal sustains himself before the 'Adult-Kid' whom he met initially with other intentions. He is the teacher of that immature mind and not for the matured body (it goes well age wise too). Add in being single and the symbols that provoke him in the day to day life through magazines and other mediums. The emotional break-down is the point here, where he over comes his body needs. If he was shown manhandling Sridevi, then there is something wrong, but never he does that. Thoughts are those grasses, cut them short and your mind becomes a decorated garden. He keeps her in this decorated garden by mowing down all those unintentional thoughts, which climb up inside any normal human being.

Here is where Silk comes into picture. Silk and Kamal are parallels - Silk living with a 'body' older & Kamal living with a 'body' younger - but both spirit does not know their true potential where the old one thinks he is still capable, and the young one has no clue what its capable. Thus Kamal and Silk form a lusting pair, where Silk has no boundaries, but Kamal has a well defined one. Its for this notion we have the provocative incidents - one such is where silk uses her feet to seduce Kamal but Kamal covered the feet of Sridevi when the saree gets misplaced.

The whole saree dream episode is on the Adult (body) of Sridevi (repeat - the circumstances he meet her, more importance is to the motive). But what he sees is actually the Kid form where the mind overtakes the body, well for both of them. Thus Kamal accepts the reality, his duty, and bundles up all his selfish desires and goes ahead to cure her accepting a rather hypothetical outcome. Here again it shows the cultured man in Kamal where he does his duty by striving forward keeping aside all the hindering and disturbing thoughts seeing only the pointer and not the beautifully carved arrow.

And the climax, Kamal looks for that kid and not the parting adult Sridevi. That's another clue that he has overcome the "romance" and is craving for the "affection". So concluding the togetherness to be romantic means the search was incomplete. Romance is just a charged force which Balu Mahendra uses to sky-rocket a relationship's pure form.

Moondram Pirai- One movie which still baffles me. Before pelting me with stones for my opinion ( and possible misinterpretation), I hope you read this with an open mind and correct me if I'm wrong (I'm still learning and evolving as a film student).

Kamal, comes across as a bit of a loner who resuces Sridevi and takes the role of her carer willingly. I'm with the director until this point but he completely shocks me when he begins to show a completely sane man who is a teacher (which again borders on a carer role) developing feelings for a woman who has regressed into the mind of a young kid (taking on the teacher-younger student dynamic now) who he knows is in no capacity to return his feelings. It seems twisted and wrong on so many levels and maybe that is what the director intended to accomplish, I have no idea. I have the strongest feeling the romantic angle was introduced for commercial purposes and somehow marred the beauty of what could have otherwise been a world class movie. Any takers to enlighten this young mind??

This is the beauty with all classics (movies, literature etc) - one can interpret it in multiple ways :-)
I have my own interpretation - which many would not agree - but I think it is one of the best movies I ever watched.

I will not go so far to decipher the title by keeping in mind its related to moon and accommodating all its phases. Its a tale which is clung between Entry & Exit of Sridevi in Kamal's life, a phase in his life. Moondram Pirai (third quarter moon) is one of the prettiest phase of the moon, before the New moon. It's also a rarest site in the sky. A similar happy moment intervened Kamal's life. Just like its definition - it visible when the moon is at right angle with Earth & Sun - these 2 just get along as right as fine could be. But Moondram Pirai is the shortest phase in a moon's life cycle, immediately plunging the sky into darkness (New Moon). So does the parting of Sridevi crashed Kamal in her total absence.

Moondram Pirai - Romance

While writing that title, I felt that it was not a suitable one, but as the topic in hand revolves around it, I could not find an appropriate one. Its been a while (say few years) that I have watched Moondram Pirai,but the images are still intact and I am just recollecting few points from the notes I had taken while watching the film.

A womanhood is culturally described as multidimensional where she takes up different roles in her life. That was exploited by many film makers. What Balu Mahendra (BM) puts forward is the male version. The 2 main characters share emotions from the male POV where he supports her as a father, brother, friend, teacher & of coarse dreams of his body needs. Here is where BM carefully - in the sense without using any vulgarity - showcases lust. About the other needs, caricatured as Sins are also present in the movie.

Yes, Kamal plays a teacher, but his student is a different one. She is not a kid but an adult. So the angle of 'teacher-student' should be approached with care, as its not that which is highlighted but how Kamal sustains himself before the 'Adult-Kid' whom he met initially with other intentions. He is the teacher of that immature mind and not for the matured body (it goes well age wise too). Add in being single and the symbols that provoke him in the day to day life through magazines and other mediums. The emotional break-down is the point here, where he over comes his body needs. If he was shown manhandling Sridevi, then there is something wrong, but never he does that. Thoughts are those grasses, cut them short and your mind becomes a decorated garden. He keeps her in this decorated garden by mowing down all those unintentional thoughts, which climb up inside any normal human being.

Here is where Silk comes into picture. Silk and Kamal are parallels - Silk living with a 'body' older & Kamal living with a 'body' younger - but both spirit does not know their true potential where the old one thinks he is still capable, and the young one has no clue what its capable. Thus Kamal and Silk form a lusting pair, where Silk has no boundaries, but Kamal has a well defined one. Its for this notion we have the provocative incidents - one such is where silk uses her feet to seduce Kamal but Kamal covered the feet of Sridevi when the saree gets misplaced.

The whole saree dream episode is on the Adult (body) of Sridevi (repeat - the circumstances he meet her, more importance is to the motive). But what he sees is actually the Kid form where the mind overtakes the body, well for both of them. Thus Kamal accepts the reality, his duty, and bundles up all his selfish desires and goes ahead to cure her accepting a rather hypothetical outcome. Here again it shows the cultured man in Kamal where he does his duty by striving forward keeping aside all the hindering and disturbing thoughts seeing only the pointer and not the beautifully carved arrow.

And the climax, Kamal looks for that kid and not the parting adult Sridevi. That's another clue that he has overcome the "romance" and is craving for the "affection". So concluding the togetherness to be romantic means the search was incomplete. Romance is just a charged force which Balu Mahendra uses to sky-rocket a relationship's pure form.

Moondram Pirai - Wandering Mind.

I can't thank you enough for that wonderful write up, Sir. I have never seen Moondram Pirai as the struggle of an intelligent mind who comes to terms with suppressing his primitive needs and provides untainted love to a woman who isn't capable of reciprocating the (then) platonic love he holds for her. I'm going to give the movie a repeat to see it through your eyes. Thank you again.

Tamil movies prior to 90's maybe '95 differentiated punidhamana kaadhal vs. kaadhal contaminated with kaamam, lust or sexual intent. In case of moondram pirai or guna for eg. it was the former. Love in its purest form. Recall in Guna when he pushes Abirami away as she tries to kiss him in the cave fearing 'kalangam' to the divine relationship. Similarly in Mooram Pirai his love for sridevi was devoid of any lust - he looked upon her as a kid at heart, woman as in physical attributes etc. And she was his only connect with life.

Silk lusting for kamal is the other extreme where he strongly pushes her back saying 'Naa nandri uLLa naai'

With all due respects, thamizh, I believe the whole discussion is treading towards a different direction. All that I was trying to home were the analogies the movie shared with Balu Mahendra's life and his relationship with Shobha. Its a fact that it was her death that got him to write Moonram Pirai and that is pretty much evident from the characters on screen. I dont want to be judgemental nor do I want to comment on as to what transpired as for one I wasn't even born at that time. And Venki- I've read a couple of his interviews wherein he mentions Moonram Pirai and how Shobha's death was a driving factor for him write the movie.

''Fox Star Studios should revive Marudhanayagam''

Kamal Haasan's dream project, Marudhanayagam kicked off amid great hype in 1997 in the presence of Queen Elizabeth 2 but the project went through financial roadblocks and the film remains an unfulfilled dream for Padma Bhushan Kamal Haasan till date. He had shot for a few segments of the movie and the trailer of the movie is a much-seen and discussed video till date.

There are talks every once in a while about the film resurfacing but nothing concrete has happened till date. Today at the music launch of Cuckoo, the president of the Tamil Film Producers Council, Keyaar appealed to Fox Star Studios to take up the production of Marudhanayagam and revive Kamal's lifelong dream. Keyaar was all praise for the Ulaganayagan at the meet.

The Producers Council President also said that among 2014's releases, Goli Soda has been the only profitable movie to all parties concerned and he appreciated Lingusamy, who was also present at the launch, for taking up the theatrical distribution of Goli Soda.

‘உலக நாயகன்’ என்று சும்மாவா சொன்னார்கள்? அவருக்கு தெரியாமல் பாம்பு கூட ‘படம்’ எடுக்க முடியாது. உலக அரங்கில் எங்கு ஒரு படம் வெளியானாலும் அது தரமாக இருக்கிற பட்சத்தில் அவரது ஹோம் தியேட்டருக்கு வந்துவிடும். அப்படிப்பட்டவரிடம், ‘இது என்னோட படம்’ என்கிற இறுமாப்பில் எவர் போனாலும் அவருக்கு காசியில் வாழப் போன காக்காவின் கதிதான். வெந்நீர் எது? விபூதி எது? என்று தடுமாறி தவிக்க வேண்டியதுதான். அண்மையில் ஒரு இயக்குனருக்கு நேர்ந்த அதோகதிதான் இப்போது நாம் சொல்லப் போவது.

சமீபத்தில் மலையாளத்தில் வெளிவந்து ஏகப்பட்ட கோடிகளை குவித்த படம் த்ரரிஷ்யம். கலெக்ஷன் மட்டுமல்ல, தரமான படம் என்று பார்த்தவர்களையெல்லாம் கொண்டாட வைத்த படம். இந்த படத்தை தமிழில் முன்னணி ஹீரோக்களான கமல், விக்ரம், ஆகியோர் பார்த்து மயங்கினார்கள். எப்படியாவது ரைட்ஸ் வாங்கி அதில் நாம நடிச்சிருணும் என்கிற ஆசை இவர்களுக்கு இருந்தாலும், அந்த உரிமை யாரிடம் இருக்கிறது என்கிற புதையலை தேடப் போனால் அதிர்ச்சி மேல் அதிர்ச்சி. அது நடிகை ஸ்ரீப்ரியாவிடம் இருந்தது. இந்த படம் வெளியானவுடன் அதன் தெலுங்கு மற்றும் தமிழ் ரீமேக் ரைட்சை வாங்கிவிட்டாராம் அவர்.

இதில் கமல் நடிக்க ஆசைப்படுகிறார் என்றதுமே ஸ்ரீப்ரியாவின் மனசில் ஒரு ஆசை. உலக நாயகன் கமல்ஹாசன் நடிக்க அதை நாமே இயக்கினால் என்ன? அந்த அதிர்ஷ்டத்தை தவற விடவே கூடாது என்று நினைத்துக் கொண்டு நேரடியாக அவரிடமே போய் தனது விருப்பத்தை சொல்ல, தேங்காய்க்கு ஆசைப்படுற எலி, அதன் ஒட்டுலேயே நாக்கை தீட்டுதே என்று சிரித்துக் கொண்டாராம் கமல். ‘த்ரிஷ்யம் படத்தில் நான் நடிக்கிற ஐடியாவே இல்லை’ என்று அதிர்ச்சி வைத்தியம் கொடுத்தாராம். பிறகு மெல்ல மனசு மாறிய ஸ்ரீப்ரியா, ‘இந்த படத்தின் தெலுங்கு ரீமேக் ரைட்ஸ் எங்கிட்டதான் இருக்கு. அதில் வெங்கடேஷ் நடிக்கணும்னு ஆசைப்படுறார். நான் அவரை வச்சு இயக்கிக்கிறேன்’ என்று விலகிக் கொண்டாராம்.

அதே நேரத்தில் த்ரிஷ்யம் படத்தை இயக்கிய ஜித்து ஜோசப்பே கமல் படத்தை இயக்குவதாக முடிவானது. இருவரும் சந்தித்தாக வேண்டுமே? சந்தித்தார்கள். மலையாளத்தில் மிகப்பெரிய ஹிட் கொடுத்த இயக்குனராக்கும் என்கிற காலர் உயர்த்தலோடு கமலை சந்திக்க வந்தாராம் ஜித்து. அவரது சித்து கமலிடம் எடுபடுமா? இந்த படத்தின் ஒரிஜனல் படமான ஜப்பானிய மொழி படத்தை பற்றி எடுத்துவிட்ட கமல், ‘இந்த கேரக்டருக்கு ஒரிஜனல் ஜப்பான் படத்துல வர்ற அந்த கேரக்டரோட வசனத்தை அப்படியே வச்சுருக்கலாமே’ என்று கூறியதுடன் அந்த ஜப்பானிய வசனத்தையும் எடுத்துவிட, ஏதுடா… மனுஷன் உயர்த்திய காலரை மடக்கி வச்சுதான் அனுப்புவாரு போலிருக்கே என்று அரண்டு போனராம் ஜித்து.

‘உலக நாயகன்’ என்று சும்மாவா சொன்னார்கள்? அவருக்கு தெரியாமல் பாம்பு கூட ‘படம்’ எடுக்க முடியாது. உலக அரங்கில் எங்கு ஒரு படம் வெளியானாலும் அது தரமாக இருக்கிற பட்சத்தில் அவரது ஹோம் தியேட்டருக்கு வந்துவிடும். அப்படிப்பட்டவரிடம், ‘இது என்னோட படம்’ என்கிற இறுமாப்பில் எவர் போனாலும் அவருக்கு காசியில் வாழப் போன காக்காவின் கதிதான். வெந்நீர் எது? விபூதி எது? என்று தடுமாறி தவிக்க வேண்டியதுதான். அண்மையில் ஒரு இயக்குனருக்கு நேர்ந்த அதோகதிதான் இப்போது நாம் சொல்லப் போவது.

சமீபத்தில் மலையாளத்தில் வெளிவந்து ஏகப்பட்ட கோடிகளை குவித்த படம் த்ரரிஷ்யம். கலெக்ஷன் மட்டுமல்ல, தரமான படம் என்று பார்த்தவர்களையெல்லாம் கொண்டாட வைத்த படம். இந்த படத்தை தமிழில் முன்னணி ஹீரோக்களான கமல், விக்ரம், ஆகியோர் பார்த்து மயங்கினார்கள். எப்படியாவது ரைட்ஸ் வாங்கி அதில் நாம நடிச்சிருணும் என்கிற ஆசை இவர்களுக்கு இருந்தாலும், அந்த உரிமை யாரிடம் இருக்கிறது என்கிற புதையலை தேடப் போனால் அதிர்ச்சி மேல் அதிர்ச்சி. அது நடிகை ஸ்ரீப்ரியாவிடம் இருந்தது. இந்த படம் வெளியானவுடன் அதன் தெலுங்கு மற்றும் தமிழ் ரீமேக் ரைட்சை வாங்கிவிட்டாராம் அவர்.

இதில் கமல் நடிக்க ஆசைப்படுகிறார் என்றதுமே ஸ்ரீப்ரியாவின் மனசில் ஒரு ஆசை. உலக நாயகன் கமல்ஹாசன் நடிக்க அதை நாமே இயக்கினால் என்ன? அந்த அதிர்ஷ்டத்தை தவற விடவே கூடாது என்று நினைத்துக் கொண்டு நேரடியாக அவரிடமே போய் தனது விருப்பத்தை சொல்ல, தேங்காய்க்கு ஆசைப்படுற எலி, அதன் ஒட்டுலேயே நாக்கை தீட்டுதே என்று சிரித்துக் கொண்டாராம் கமல். ‘த்ரிஷ்யம் படத்தில் நான் நடிக்கிற ஐடியாவே இல்லை’ என்று அதிர்ச்சி வைத்தியம் கொடுத்தாராம். பிறகு மெல்ல மனசு மாறிய ஸ்ரீப்ரியா, ‘இந்த படத்தின் தெலுங்கு ரீமேக் ரைட்ஸ் எங்கிட்டதான் இருக்கு. அதில் வெங்கடேஷ் நடிக்கணும்னு ஆசைப்படுறார். நான் அவரை வச்சு இயக்கிக்கிறேன்’ என்று விலகிக் கொண்டாராம்.

அதே நேரத்தில் த்ரிஷ்யம் படத்தை இயக்கிய ஜித்து ஜோசப்பே கமல் படத்தை இயக்குவதாக முடிவானது. இருவரும் சந்தித்தாக வேண்டுமே? சந்தித்தார்கள். மலையாளத்தில் மிகப்பெரிய ஹிட் கொடுத்த இயக்குனராக்கும் என்கிற காலர் உயர்த்தலோடு கமலை சந்திக்க வந்தாராம் ஜித்து. அவரது சித்து கமலிடம் எடுபடுமா? இந்த படத்தின் ஒரிஜனல் படமான ஜப்பானிய மொழி படத்தை பற்றி எடுத்துவிட்ட கமல், ‘இந்த கேரக்டருக்கு ஒரிஜனல் ஜப்பான் படத்துல வர்ற அந்த கேரக்டரோட வசனத்தை அப்படியே வச்சுருக்கலாமே’ என்று கூறியதுடன் அந்த ஜப்பானிய வசனத்தையும் எடுத்துவிட, ஏதுடா… மனுஷன் உயர்த்திய காலரை மடக்கி வச்சுதான் அனுப்புவாரு போலிருக்கே என்று அரண்டு போனராம் ஜித்து.

Drishyam, the Malayalam film that made powerful waves all over is getting ready to be remade in Tamil and Telugu. While Sripriya will be directing the Telugu version, Jeetu Joseph who directed the Malayalam film will continue to wield the megaphone for the Tamil version too.

Initially there were quite a few names that were interested in the Tamil remake, like Superstar Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. But as the events unfolded, Kamal is said to be reprising Mohanlal’s role in Tamil.

While talking about this, director Jeetu Joseph says, “Rajini sir was interested in the beginning to do the Tamil remake but later withdrew. I still don’t know the reason”. Jeetu also adds that Rajini is one actor who does not wish the script to be changed for his sake.

When Behindwoods investigated a little more on this, we found that it seems Kamal Haasan was very reluctant to take up the remake in the beginning and he almost had said no to the project. There are unconfirmed murmurs that Rajini and Kamal might have had a chat over the remake and probably the former might have suggested to the latter to take up this challenging project.

It must be noted that even in Malayalam, Mammootty was initially supposed to do Drishyam before the other superstar Mohanlal took up the project. History seems to have repeated itself in Tamil too.

Meanwhile in the Tamil remake, Simran is said to be doing the role that Meena did in Malayalam. Stay tuned for more updates on this!

''Paying taxes is more important than donating at temples''

Kamal Haasan has always been known as someone who is regular at paying his taxes. He was recently honored by the Income Tax Department for his commitments towards tax payment and was also invited to be the chief guest at the inauguration event of a 2 days' cultural program at the IT Department's office in Chennai. Kamal's speech at the event was impressive and candid as ever.

"Paying taxes regularly is like donating for the upkeep of the country. It is even more important than offering money at temples. The results of paying taxes can be instantaneous and can result in better roads and facilities for all our countrymen. With this hope, the IT department was formed along with the constitution of the country.

I wonder why there is a dread surrounding tax payment. It is an ancient medieval habit which has stuck on, as tax collection officers were cruel then and had no consideration. People think that not paying taxes is like a national duty but they fail to remember that it is us who own the country now.

But service tax for artists and actors like us is slightly confusing. Hopefully there is a dialog in this direction which leads to a better resolution. Whenever an industry is feeling over-taxed and over-strained by tax, there may be black money generation and people may choose to not disclose their income."

Kamal also encouraged all the participants who were set to participate in all the cultural activities by saying that

வெள்ளைக்கே வெள்ளை சேர்த்த ராமராஜ் காட்டன் அதிபர் கே.ஆர்.நாகராஜன் முயற்சியால் உருவானதுதான் இந்த புத்தகம். அதனால் புத்தகத்தை அவரே வெளியிட்டார். 1960-ல் திரைத்துறையில் நுழைந்து, 55 வருடங்களாக தனது உழைப்பின் மூலம் தமிழகத்தின் பெருமையை தரணியில் உயர்த்திய தமிழனுக்கு ராம்ராஜ் காட்டன் நிறுவனத்தின் சமர்ப்பணமாக இப்புத்தகம் அர்ப்பணிக்கப்படுகிறது என்றார் அவர்.

Ilaiyaraaja to score music for Drishyam remake?
There
has been no confirmation yet but there are reports that the composer
will score the music in the Tamil version of the Malayalam hit Drishyam. The original starred Mohanlal and Meena in the lead, and was a huge success at the Box Office.

The Tamil version will have Kamal Haasan playing the lead and Simran
is likely to play his wife. Now, we hear that music maestro
Ilaiayaraaja will be scoring the music for the film. This is just a news

Simran says she is not a part of Drishyam

Drishyam, the Malayalam film directed by Jeetu Joseph has created waves across the film industries which has resulted in the remake of the film in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada. While the Telugu film is being directed by Sripriya, Tamil version will be helmed by Jeetu Joseph himself.

For the character of Meena in the original version, many heroines were considered and it was said that Simran will be reprising Meena’s role in Tamil version. However the Pammal K Sambandham heroine has come out in the open and denied her involvement in the film.

She states, "I'm not doing any role in any language in any remake of Drishyam, I shall reveal my professional plans to the media at the appropriate time".

Now that the actress has denied her presence in the film, it looks to be seen who will do Meena’s role in the remake. Drishyam Tamil remake will have Kamal Haasan doing Mohanlal’s role.

In 2012, Kamal Haasan’s critically acclaimed film Pushpak completed 25 glorious years. That year, i managed to get in touch with the lead cast of the film, barring Kamal, to hear them share their experience about working on the film.

Tinnu Anand and Akkineni Amala, who were in the cast, recall their enriching shooting experiences and the powerful impact the film made on audiences. Also starring Pratap Pothan, Farida Jalal, P.L. Narayana, K.S. Ramesh and Loknath, director Singeetham Srinivasa Rao’s Pushpak released September 10, 1987

Actor-director Tinnu Anand said: “The film ran for 35 weeks in Bangalore, and left a deep impression.”

Not only that, the hospitality Tinnu received from Bangaloreans was simply overwhelming.

“My few visits to Bangalore after the release of the film quite amazed me. People would not even let me pay my bill in a hotel or restaurant. They would recognise me from the film and volunteer to pay the bill,” he said.

Tinnu played the role of an assassin, who uses a dagger of frozen ice to kill the character played by Kamal Haasan.

“I remember every night we used to fill the dagger mould with water and deep freeze it before going to sleep. By morning, though it would’ve frozen, it would eventually break when it was taken out. Finally, our director made a frozen dagger for the shoot with acrylic that looked almost real.”

The success of Pushpak doesn’t lie solely on one individual. It was neither the director nor Kamal Haasan, but a team effort, said the actor.

“We worked as a team and there was no schedule per se that was followed. Kamal had all the time for the film, and so did all of us. The director would sit in one corner and supervise us as we would prepare for the scene. We were given all the freedom to experiment and improvise with the output.”

In this age of remakes what surprises Tinnu Anand is that no one is thinking about a remake of Pushpak.

“I’m surprised that nobody even bothered to remake this classic. I would love to act in the remake ofPushpak. However, I would expect to be given the same freedom that director Singeetham Srinivasa Rao gave us on the sets of the film,” said Tinnu Anand.

It goes without saying that Pushpak was special for every actor who was part of the project. Amala, who played a magician’s daughter in love with Kamal Haasan, feels the film changed the course of her career forever.

“It was a film that changed the trajectory of my career in films and got me recognition as talent. The filming of ‘Pushpak’ was like going to acting school or film school for me,” said Amala.

“I learned so much about cinema and acting from Singeetham Srinivasa Raoji and Kamalji and all the talented technicians at that time. It was a great learning experience for me, a fun project to work on and an amazing response and recognition. These are films that actors remember and the audience never forgets”, she added.

Pushpak had a great effect on people and the actress realised it when she walked into an office a few years ago.

“I remember walking into an office a few years ago and an unknown gentleman came across the room to greet me, and I noticed his prosthetic arm. He told me how he had an accident during his college days and his arm was amputated. To cheer him up, his friends brought the DVD of Pushpak and played it every day till he got over the shock of losing his arm”, she said.

Pushpak may be 25 years old, yet its impact endures.

Last week Ulaganayagan Kamalhassan started Uthama Villain directed by his good friend and co-actor in many films Ramesh Aravind. The film being jointly produced by director N.Lingusamy's Tirupathi Brothers and Kamal's home banner Rajkamal Films International is rapidly progressing as it is planned as a quickie.

Now the latest we hear his that Kamal has planned to finish his part in the film within 60 days. The shoot is expected to complete in mid May. After this, Kamal will start working in the remake of super hit Malayalam film Drishyam where he reprises the lead role played by Mohan Lal in the original.

The Padma Bhushan actor has allotted 50 days call sheet for the film directed by Jeetu Joseph and has reportedly signed the film for Rs.20 crores as remuneration.

Kamal & Sruthi's effort to bridge south and north east

Actor Kamalhassan and his actress cum singer daughter Sruthihassan have collaborated with an Assamese Singer Joi Barua in an effort to connect the south and north east. Joi Barua and Sruthi have sung together a 'Soulful fusion' of Tami and Assamese.

The Tamil lyric for the tune composed by an Assamese musician was written by Ulaganayagan Kamalhassan.
The song serves as a beautiful blend of Tamil language spoken in South India and Assamese spoken in North East India. The video of Joi Barua and Sruthi singing together is available in INKtalks website.
The fusion song would captivate not only the Assamese and Tamils but even the people who are new to both the languages, as they say music has no boundaries.

Yesterday Kamal Haasan met Roshan Baig, the Information and broadcasting minister of Karnataka and discussed in detail about establishing a Hollywood kind of film city in Karnataka

It is said that Kamal wants to have all kind of recent technologies in this film city and as Roshan Baig is handling the information and broadcasting sector, the actor has met him and conveyed his ideas.

Why is Kamal Haasan going to Delhi?

Actor, director, writer Kamal Haasan, who is currently working on Sandalwood director Ramesh Aravind's film Uthama Villain, is all set to fly to delhi this Monday.

The actor will be flying to Delhi on Ugadi not to join the election frenzy, but to receive his Padmabhushan Award. A reliable source tweeted, "Ulaganayagan leaving to Delhi Tom for receiving Padmabhushan awards Happening on Monday." Kamal is currently busy working on Uthama Villain and the post-production work of his film Vishwaroopam 2. Looks like the actor has his hands full with projects and a packed travel schedule.

Meanwhile, Uthama Villain's shoot is progressing at a brisk pace in Chennai. The film, which was initially being shot in Bangalore, had to shift to Chennai due to some uncomfortable situations in the Sandalwood industry at that point of time. However, all is well now and the film too is progressing in a smooth manner.
