Kalakalappu (கலகலப்பு ) is an upcoming Tamil action comedy film directed by Sundar C and produced by his wife Kushboo Sundar. It stars Vimal, Shiva, Anjali and Oviya. Music composer is Vijay Ebenezer (Kanden fame). P. Vijay penned the lyrics for all songs. Kalakalappu is Sundar's 25th movie as director. Sundar C's next film originally called Masala Cafe has been renamed Kalakalappu.

Its same cycle! some start with glamour and goes ahead with performance roles. Some start with good performance but later to survive, goes ahead with glamor. Even after she is quite popular, she is not getting many films it seems. so she is taking the glamor route but looks naaraasam(some stills paathen!) TFM is filled with tons of heroines. And Our heroes too has become too high prolific. Kamal rajini rangela varushathukku oru padam thaan panraanga! appuram engernthu heroines kku many chances kedaikkum!

There is only one thing that annoyed me in the movie, it was Anjalis voice. It was like watching her in Engeyum Eppothum again.

சினிமா எடுக்கலாமா வேண்டாமா என்ற தயக்கத்தோடு உள்ள ஏவிஎம் போன்ற ஜாம்பவான் நிறுவனங்கள், சின்ன பட்ஜெட்டில் காமெடி படம் முயற்சிக்கலாமா என்ற யோசனையில் உள்ளது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

இந்த புதிய ட்ரெண்டில், சந்தானம் காட்டில்தான் பேய் மழை. இதற்கு முன் எந்த காமெடியனும் வாங்காத அளவுக்கு பெரிய சம்பளத்துக்கு அவர் தாவிவிட, இன்னொரு சந்தானத்தை உருவாக்கிட்டா போச்சு என, அடுத்த கட்ட காமெடியன்களைப் பிடிக்க ஆரம்பித்துள்ளனர் முன்னணி இயக்குநர்கள். இவர்களின் சாய்ஸ் இப்போது பரோட்டா சூரிதான். டைமிங் காமெடி மற்றும் வடிவேலு மாதிரி உடல்மொழி உள்ள நடிகர் என்பதால் இவர் கைவசம் ஏகப்பட்ட படங்கள். இன்னொரு பக்கம் புதிய காமெடி நடிகர்களைத் தேட ஆரம்பித்துள்ளனர் பிரபல இயக்குநர்கள்.

Ithae thaan enakkum thonuchu. Vadivelu in place of Santhanam nallarunthurukum. As I expected Vimal was not good. Siva's expressions and dialogue delivery is never boring :lol: ... Ilavarsu was very funny ... nalla time pass ... Anjalikaaga nalla print vantha piragu innoru vaati paakanum.

very good move - compared to OKOK

Too many characters, nobody (actors) stole the show and hence Sundar C is the Winner without vadivelu. Siva, Anjali, Santhanam (some extent) were good. padam yaarukku pudikkutho illaiyo, siruvar sirumikalukku nallave pudikkuthu. vizhunthu vizhunthu sirikkuraanga :lol:. So better go with siruvars / childs

santhanam was very funny - much better than okok.

Watched second time @ chitlapakkam varadharaja with my family and enjoyed a lot more than what I did in first time. Second half is certainly laugh riot after looong time in tamil cinema. This time many kutti kutti scenes and kutti kutti dialogues attracted me. Even I noticed 'vaa vaa pakkam vaa prelude' in climax fight :rotfl: bgm.

If kamal would have acted in this movie, the thread would have reached part-8 (this is page 8 :lol2:) and many pandits would have raved. But kamal gave a mokkai comedy M.Ambu, what a waste effort kamal sir. Ofcourse, this is almost like a kamal comedy movie (not in clever angle), may be Sundar C got inspirations from them. Also traces of his Winner found, especially climaxa ezhuthukitte povathu.

I revise the rating for this movie. This is good movie :). Sundar C :thumbsup:

I saw it again over the weekend. As Sanjeevi pointed out, I was able to enjoy minute dialogues that I missed in the first view. Shiva stands out and couldn't control laughing whenever he appears on screen. Last 30 minutes were too good. Yes.. It is similar to a Kamal comedy film. But for Kamal we have our own expectations and standards. We will go to the theater and return disappointed. After a while we will watch it on TV number of times and appreciate it internally. (doesn't apply to MMA though). It happened with me for PKS. didn't really like it initially but was able to watch it many times on TV except few mokkai scenes here and there.

Sundar C should continue direction. Acting ellam venamae :oops:

Santhanam is good in this movie but he should avoid uttering dialogues everywhere though they were funny. One example, he says "appadiye tire vachha road roller maathiri iruppengada" after 4 adiyals over him, I think some facial expressions n body languages (where vadivelu scores) would be opt in this scene.

oviya is looking better than Anjali.. Anjali is on the edge to become out of shape..

it has been long time we have seen these kind of fun.. last was "winner".. in those sundar c films comedian will overtake lead actor.. but here Santhanam comes only in 2nd half.. Siva takes care the first half..

i like these kind of comedy films.. padatha adhu pOkkulaye vittudanum.. adhula comedy add pannanum..

True for most comedies, except the greatest ones. Padam paraalla, theater la paathirundha innum konjam better-a irundhirukkum.

The best line for me was:

Watched the movie yesterday. Shiva :bow: He makes an entry 20 mins after the movie starts but his scenes are the best. The movie would have been better if they had made him accompany Vimal, to bring back Anjali. Next to Shiva, the one who made me laugh was Amitabh Mama Illavarasu.

Santhanam, though is only seen post-interval is not bad. Vadivelu would have been apt for this character and somehow, IMO it doesn't suit Santhanam. There are some funny scenes(like the one quoted by B(K) above) :rofl: but the movie starts dragging after Santhanam/Manobala's entry. The last 15-20 mins are marana mokkai.

Typical Sundar.C movie. Clean, illogical, chaotic, but funny. Definitely better than OKOK.

One thing common in all Sundar.C movies is he makes elderly actors, who are known for serious roles, play a comic character. Jai Ganesh in Ullathai Alli Tha, Gemini in Mettukkudi/Naam Iruvar, Nambiar in Winner. In Kalagalappu, there is V.S.Raghavan and also Santhaanam's grandfather (Is he an yesteryear actor?).

Comedy is coming naturally to Siva... looks like he enjoyed doing this role..

Vimal - Anjali combination is good .. Anjali has done similar role earlier in "Engeyum Eppodhum" as well.

Compared to Anjali, Oviya is looking better.

Sundar should continue taking movies like this at least one per year ...

Fine film. Was smiling throughout except may be the first few mokkai minutes. Songs are torchal but ctrl+right arrow :-) Fan of Vimal thanks to pasanga/kalaV/VSV but he was far from impressive. Anjali on the verge of becoming a mumtaj. Oviya nothing special. Show stealers are Siva, ilavarasu, sirippu police, koogil and Santhanam in that order.

Couple of brilliant things:
1. Choice of name and Vimal's explanation for Koogil.
2. Parody on Anjali's voice.

Favorite moments:
-Ilavarasu scenes, Amitabh Maama esp.
-Each and every scene in which Shiva appeared, including the serious scenes.
-Sirippu police was absurdly hilarious
-John vijay on Shanmugasundaram's bathroom followed by the scene at cafe.
-Santhanam in the chase scene / lake.
-Surya smile

Santhanam vaaya moodaama pEsittE irukkaapla but half the lines are mokkai. As a film > BEB but in terms if laughs, a little below. Also not sure how this would fare on revisits.

@Nerd - It was better when I watched second time. Probably Sundar C got inspirations to think for humour scenes from Naalaiya Iyakkunar's programme (he was/is the judge).
