ஆரம்பம் - சினிமா விமர்சனம்
இந்திய அரசின் ஊழல் பெருச்சாளிகளை வேட்டையாடும் போலீஸ் அஜித். அப்புறமென்ன அடி தூள் ஆரம்பம்தானே!
தரமற்ற புல்லட் புரூஃப் உடை காரணமாக உயிரிழக்கிறார் அஜித்தின் போலீஸ் நண்பன் ராணா. அந்த பேரத்தை முடித்த அதிகாரிகளையும் அரசியல்வாதிகளையும் பழிவாங்கக் கிளம்புகிறார் அஜித். ஆனால், அவர் மீதே கொலைப் பழி சுமத்தி, கொலை செய்கிறார்கள் வில்லன்கள். ஃபீனிக்ஸ் பறவையாக 'தல’யெடுத்து அஜித் வில்லன்களை துவம்சம் செய்யும் கதை!
மும்பை தாஜ் ஹோட்டல் தீவிரவாதிகள் தாக்குதலில், தரமற்ற புல்லட் புரூஃப் ஆடை அணிந்திருந்ததால் உயிரிழந்த போலீஸ் அதிகாரி ஹேமந்த் கார்கரேவின் கதையை அஜித் ரசிகர்களுக்கு ஏற்ப சஸ்பென்ஸ் த்ரில்லராகப் பின்னியதில் ஸ்கோர் செய்திருக்கிறார் இயக்குநர் விஷ்ணுவர்தன்.

ஆர்யா அதிசயமாக மெனக்கெட்டு மேக்கப்புடன் 'குண்டு பையனாக’ நடிக்கவும் செய்திருக்கிறார். கேங்ஸ்டர் கேர்ளாக 'பில்லா’வில் செய்ததை இதிலும் டிட்டோ அடித்திருக்கிறார் நயன். அச்சுபிச்சு கேரக்டராக இருந்தாலும், 'ஹவ் ஸ்வீட்ட்ட்ட்’ டாப்ஸி! ஊழல் அமைச்சர் மகேஷ் மஞ்ச்ரேக்கர், 'டே போலீஸ் ஆபீஸர்... என் மூஞ்சியை எதுக்குடா பார்க்குறே..? வயரை பார்த்து கட் பண்றா!’ என்று சலம்பித்தள்ளும் க்ளைமாக்ஸில் பட்டாசு கொளுத்துகிறார்.
'மேக் இட் சிம்பிள்’ என்று பன்ச் பிடித்தது முதல் சிம்பிள் வசனங்களாலேயே காட்சிகளை நகர்த்துகிறது சுபாவின் திரைக்கதை ப்ளஸ் வசனம்.

Super machi ...100 % correct..meanwhile i watched the movie 6th time in blr gopalan cinemas . Full family crowd ,every one enjoying the Movie.

The Tamil Nadu box office is doing well with both Arrambam and Pandianadu doing good business. Especially Arrambam is doing extremely well at many centers

Ajith's Arrambam takes a tremendous opening at TN box office and leading in the collection of other diwali releases by huge margin. The film is said to have netted 50+ crores(approx) in the first eleven days of TN BO .

உயிர் நண்பன் ராணா, ஒரு ஆக்ஷனில் தீவிரவாதிகளின் துப்பாக்கிக்கு பலியாக… நொந்து போகிறார் அஜித். அடுத்த கட்டத்தில் தெரிகிறது ராணா போட்டிருந்த புல்லட் ப்ரூஃப் ஜாக்கெட்டின் லட்சணம். அவ்வளவுதான்… ஆர்ப்பாட்டத்தை ஆரம்பித்து விடுகிறார் அஜித். ஊழலில் சம்பந்தப்பட்ட டி.ஜி.பி., உள்துறை அமைச்சர், இன்னும் சில இடைத்தரகர்களை போட்டு வாங்கும் அதிரடிதான் ‘ஆரம்பம்’.

இணைய ஹேக்கிங்கில் சமர்த்துப் பையனான ஆர்யாவைக் கூட்டு சேர்த்துக்கொண்டு திட்டங்களை நிறைவேற்றும் பாங்கில் சூடாகப் பறக்கிறது திரைக்கதை. அஜித்தும், ஆர்யாவும் ஆரம்பத்தில் பரம வைரிகளாய் மோதுகிறபோது, ‘ஐயையோ… படம் முழுக்க இப்படித்தானா…’ என்ற பீதி லேசாக எழுகிறது. ஆனால், பணயக் கைதியாகக் காதலியை கொண்டு வந்து சேர்த்துவிட்ட காரணத்தால் அஜித்திடமே போய்ச் சேர்கிறார் ஆர்யா. புல்லட் ப்ரூஃப் ஊழலில் சேர்த்த பணத்தை ஆர்யாவின் மாஸ்டர் மைண்ட்(!) மூலம் கைப்பற்றி இந்திய அரசுக்கே திருப்பிச் செலுத்துகிற நேர்மையில் வெற்றி பெற்றார்களா, உயிரைப் பணயம் வைக்கும் பழிவாங்கலில் வெற்றி பெற்றார்களா… என்பது படம் மொத்தமும் வருகிற திக்… திக்… நிமிடங்கள்!

தீவிரவாத தடுப்புப் பிரிவில் பணிபுரியும்போதும் சரி, தனியாக விலகி ஆக்ஷனில் கதற வைக்கும்போதும் சரி… விறைப்பும், முறைப்பும், மிடுக்குமாக கேரக்டருக்கு உயிர் தருகிறார் அஜித். நிதானமாகப் பேசி, குரலை உயர்த்துவது நமக்கே நெஞ்சுக்குழியில் சில்லிட வைக்கிறது. ஆக்ஷனில் மொத்தப் பேரையும் கொத்தும்போதும், அனல் வசனத்தில் கன்னம் சிவக்கும்போதும் அழகு கூட்டுகிறது. ‘எவ்வளவு பேர் வேண்டுமானாலும் படத்தில் இருந்திட்டுப் போங்கப்பா… இது என் படம்’ என்கிற அலட்சியத்திற்கு இந்த மேனரிசம்தான் காரணம்.
நயன்தாரா ‘பில்லா’வில் மிச்சம் வைத்திருந்த கவர்ச்சியை இதில் அள்ளி வழங்கியிருக்கிறார். மினிமம் உடையில் வில்லனை மயக்கும்போது… மயங்குவது வில்லன் மட்டுமல்ல! டாப்ஸியை நாமெல்லாம் ரொம்ப சீரியஸாக எடுத்துக்கொள்ள வேண்டாம். நயன் இருக்கும்போது டாப்ஸி கடைசி ‘விக்கெட்’தான்.

ஆரம்பத்திலேயே… அஜித் முன்பு ஆர்யா அடங்கிவிட்டார். கடைசி வரை ஸ்டைலில் ஆர்யாவை மிஞ்சுவதால் அஜித்திற்கு பதற்றமே ஏற்படவில்லை.

'Arrambam' Box Office Collection: Ajith Starrer May Touch ₹100-Crore Mark Soon

Tamil film, "Arrambam" has earned big in the first week, raking in ₹53.9 crore worldwide and it is still doing strong at the box office. With no new releases last Friday, it is expected to do good business in the second week and touch ₹100-crore mark in a week's time.

"Arrambam", directed by Vishnuvardhan and featuring Ajith, Nayantara, Arya and Taapsee Pannu in the lead roles, was released on Diwali in more than 500 screens in Tamil Nadu.
Opened to positive reviews, "Arrambam" became Ajith's best opening film till date. According to senior film journalist Sreedhar Pillai, the film collected ₹8.75 crore from Tamil Nadu and ₹1.55 crore from rest of the country, taking the first day earning to ₹10.30 crore.

The action-packed entertainer continued to do well at the box office despite release of two films - "All in All Azhaguraja" and "Pandiya Nadu" - a couple of days later. It collected ₹36.6 from domestic box office and ₹17.3 from overseas in the first week, taking the total to ₹53.9 crore, according to Andhra Box Office.

With "Arrambam" turning a big hit, all eyes will be on Ajith's next film, "Veeram" where he acts with Tamannah. Directed by Siva and produced by Vijaya Productions, the film is scheduled for release on 10 January 2014.

Chennai: Ajith Kumar starrer ‘Arrambam’ has registered a blockbuster opening of Rs 9.21 crore on the first day in Tamil Nadu and bagged over Rs. 91.63 crore gross in the first weekend.

Flick, which released on Thursday worldwide, is expected to cross the 100 crore mark at the Box Office overseas. The film was made in a budget of Rs 60 crores.

“The festival weekend helped Arrambam to mint more”, said trade analyst Trinath.

“That was the best opening for an Ajith’s film. The overall buzz has been positive, and therefore, the film is expected to register a record worldwide,” he added.

Arrambam even had set a record by hitting the maximum number of screens worldwide. It is also reported that makers are planning to bring out the Hindi version of the film.

Directed by Vishnuvardhan, film also features Arya, Nayanthara, Rana Daggubati and Tapsee Pannu. The film went under the production banner Sri Satya Sai Movies.

The Telugu version of the film titled Aata Arrambam is slated for a November 21 release. The dubbing rights were reportedly sold for a whopping Rs 6 crore which is highest for an Ajith film.

Malaysia has always been a good market for Tamil films and films featuring most of the saleable stars in Tamil Nadu, generate good income in Malaysia too.

Ajith's Arrambam which released on October 31 has been performing well all over the world and Malaysia has been no exception. His previous films such as Billa and Mankatha were good hits in Malaysia and now Arrambam has collected close to 5 crores (788469 USD) in its opening weekend (October 31 to November 3), from 80 screens with a healthy per screen average of 9856 USD

Arrambam opened at Number 2 in the said weekend behind only Thor: The Dark World. Azhaguraja opened at Number 3 while Krrish 3 was at Number 9.

Arrambam continued its presence in the Malaysian Top 5 in its second weekend as well and the gross at the end of the 2nd weekend is awaited.

Chennai Box-Office (November 8 to 10)


Ajith`s Arrambam continues to rock the CBO, in its second week and is the number one. The film has collected around Rs 8.5 Crore from Chennai city and suburbs and is a solid hit.
In the second position is Vishal`s Pandiya Nadu, which has more screens and shows in its second week. The word of mouth has also helped it to get the family audiences.

And at number three is Hrithik Roshan`s Krrish 3, which got a limited release when it opened on Diwali day. But now it has increased from 67 to 94 screens in Hindi and Tamil in Tamil Nadu in its second week. And in the fourth position is All in All Azhaguraja and at number five Gravity continues to hold on.

Ajith's "Arrambam" is doing fantastic business in overseas markets.

The action-packed entertainer has turned out to be the fifth highest grosser of all Tamil films in the US. According to Behindwoods, "Arrambam" grossed $369,150, approximately ₹2.3 crore (as of 9th November), at the US box office.

The film has surpassed the collections of Vijay's "Thuppakki" and "Thalaivaa" and Suriya's "Singam 2". Only four films including "Endhiran" (Robot - $1.6 Million ), "Vishwaroopam" ( $1 Million), "Sivaji" ($600,000) and "Dasavatharam" ($500,000) are ahead of "Arrambam" in collections.

The Ajith starrer has been received well in other overseas markets including UK, Australia, Singapore and Malaysia. Particularly in Malaysia, "Arrambam" has done great business as against new releases in Tamil and other languages. The country is one of the key markets for Tamil films and most of the films that have big stars perform well at the box office.

The film has grossed better collections than Bollywood film "Krrish 3", which grossed $102,707 at the end of the second weekend. However, the screen count for these films varies. While "Arrambam" is shown in 80 screens, "Krrish 3" is played in just 21 screens. Malaysia is one of the key markets of Tamil films where films of big stars perform well. Generally Tamil films do better business over other Indian films in the country, as Tamils reportedly constitute the largest percentage among Indian minority there.

"Arrambam" got the best ever opening minting close to ₹5 crore ($788,469) in its opening weekend (October 31 to November 3) at the Malaysian box office. The film opened at the second spot next to "Thor: The Dark World."

However, the Vishnu Vardhan directorial dropped to the fourth spot in the Malaysian box office chart. Karthi's "All in All Azhaguraja" (AAA) took the fifth spot grossing $456,341 (as of 10 November) from 40 screens. "Thor: The Dark World" still continues to rule over films from all over the world earning $6,908,684 from 219 screens.

We have regularly been reporting about Arrambam's box-office exploits, in India as well as in overseas markets. In Malaysia, the film was in the nationwide Top 10 chart over the first 2 weeks and in its third weekend, it continued its presence in the list.

At No.7 in the Top 10 chart in its third week, Arrambam has proved its longevity in Malaysia too, in addition to its steady run back home in Tamil Nadu. Thor: The Dark World, continues its hold on the top for the third straight week in Malaysia.

At the end of last weekend (November 10), Arrambam had collected more than 8.66 crores in Malaysia and the figures at the end of the third weekend (November 17) are eagerly awaited.

With these we can say that VV & YSR never concentrated too much in the music dept though the songs were good. Had they concentrated the output would have been on a different. Sheer THALA power.

Didn't really expect the film to do this well. Given the weak screenplay managed by few wow moments here & there in the 2nd half, I think it managed well with its brilliant 1st half. Vishnu just like how he struggled in billa, fails to close it properly in the 2nd half. I'm more disappointed with the archaic story which was beaten to death recently by ARM which would have made Captain and Arjun look proud. Thala should focus more in the coming days though I'm not complaining this time as I can see improvement from Mankata [I liked Billa 2 :D] . Having said that, Vishnu va vachi ippadi oru hit kodutha thala.. We have made many hypocrites rethink their strategies :rotfl: . I mean.. we have closed the arguments from both sides by delivering a hit with a not-so-called big director Vishu and also a relative new-bie Venkata Prabu [now VP is big just like ARM :wink: ].

What is even more satisfactory is that the collections are on par with purported blockbusters. :wink:

Having said that, not having much expectations in Veeram. Anything delivered will be bonus. But who cares when you get to see thala within a gap of 4 months :clap: Director Shiva + NagiReddy productions :thumbsup:

Arrambam continues its golden run at the CBO and is still the number one, as it is able to attract the majority of the viewers during the weekend.

The film still continues running in daily four shows in the biggest screen at multiplexes, which has enabled it to hold on.

In the number two position is Pizza 2-Villa, which opened on Thursday and got only limited shows in small screens in multiplexes. The film got mixed reports and is just an average film. And in the third position is Pandiya Nadu, which got the family audiences.

At number four is Sanjay Bhansali`s Ram-Leela which took a strong opening in Chennai multiplexes, and carries a good word of mouth. In the fifth place is Thor : The Dark Side.

No comments on bringing in Shankar - as you wish, if you believe in those so called "king" concepts - myself brought in Kumararaja while addressing these terms : "not-so-called big director" & "newbie"

Keeping in mind SPB Cheran & Ajith's connection, I strongly believe its possible. I also believe that Kumararaja will come up with a character on the needs of the story which only actors like Ajith/Vikram (or Vijay Sethupathi) can give a nod to. Rest will build-up a character and script it accordingly which we have been most commonly seeing till date in TFI.

Whoever it is, all I wish is to see a movie with a good story without any "fan-boy-affecting" factor so that I can talk about the movie with all/others OPENLY. Seeing Ajith coming out of such cliches, he can take our cinema extensively to non-Tamil speaking audiences. My claim was always that : if Bollywood can, why can't we. His brand name can bring in distributors and these talented director can bring in that much needed break and create a whole new path. I am not a twitter giant or an analyst, just saying viz a viz the response I saw and experienced in a cinema hall (which is not in Chennai/India) while watching an Ajith film.

AJITH - MAKING BAD LOOK SO GOOD
Ajith is blurring all the lines.

When the Arrambam trailer first released it became clear the film would be a highly stylized action flick; but what was not clear was whether Ajith would be a knight in shining armor who saves the day, or a powerful-criminal conducting games for people to survive in. After seeing the film one can still debate whether the super star played a good guy who was forced to resort to bad, or someone whom circumstances gradually turned dark. Director Vishnuvardhan referred to his role as “gray” and with such convincing scenes in which ‘AK’ is seemingly unopposed to hurting innocent people on his path of revenge, all that is really certain is that, looking at his last few films, we can’t see where Ajith is going creatively, and that is the best part.

Ajith playing a villain or questionable-hero is not new. Although younger Thala fans might associate Ajith’s “villainy” with his gangster roles as of 2007, let’s not forget that we’ve seen him ‘go bad’ well before that, and he was so good at it. In Vaali he was a murderous twin-brother intent on possessing his own sister-in-law and in Varalaru he was a scorned child focused on ruining the father he presumed abandoned him. Then the age of Billa and Mankatha introduced us to the stylish criminal version of the ultimate star. What do all these films have in common?: visionary directors and a progressive star who saw more for Tamil cinema.

By the very laws of nature fans are fundamentally wired to root for the good guy. Why would directors like S.J. Suryah, Ravikumar, Venkat Prabhu, Vishnuvardhan, and Ajith himself,get together to make everyone’s favorite hero go evil? Ajith and these directors must have recognized that a celebrated star didn’t always have to be seen as the typical good guy; like in other movie industries, there was room for experimentation that would be appreciated if done well. With comic book movies dominating theatres every month, actors who play villains have become some of the most respected names in Hollywood. It can very easily be argued that these directors saw the same opportunity to advance Tamil cinema because of Ajith’s extreme acting range and open-mindedness. What transpired were tinyrevolutions in this industry, where audiences were suddenly questioned if their devotion to a star was because of their onscreen image, or because they truly appreciated their acting talent. When Ajith went from being a wholesome lover boy who could beat up the bad guys, to one of the bad guys himself, we as fans were forced to examine whether we loved Ajith the onscreen hero, or Ajith the whole package –the actor, who canfill a role to its fullest, with a singular style and commitment; the artist, who is willing to reinvent himself for the sake of good cinema; and the star, who conducts himself with social responsibility knowing that his actions have a profound impact on the public due to his popularity (ex. his promotion of bike safety during publicity for Arrambam). When he’s so good at acting bad on screen &being good in real life, how could we choose anything but the latter.

Of course these experimentations have paid off, especially with the recent “Thala Deepavali” success of Arrambam; with these risks that have turned into roaring successes Ajith Kumar has expanded his position in Tamil cinema, like the Jokers and Bains of the west.

This continued bout of “shady heroes” on screen does not mean Ajith is now trapped in villainous roles. With his upcoming action-comedy Veeram we will see him in a village setting, but maybe future collaborations with cutting-edge commercial directors could take him back to his westernized bad-boss ways. We honestly don’t know, and that unpredictability is exactly what fans should be proud of. We have no idea what direction Thala is heading, and that’s one way he, and the visionary directors who help steer him, set Tamil cinema on a course for advancement.

I would say VV packaged the film very well. I dont get bored of any where..
my parents liked it.. though they like family drama much than action.. they said the film is with good message.
And whom ever saw the film in my apartment, they said it is good film.

I think as a fan we expect a lot.. and i personally feel we get biased by negative comments and tend to keep low profile and keep our expectations more..But media reviews are good.. think we should keep our expectations low and go with fresh mind..
Ajith is very clear in what he want to present.

But what i observed is people like to watch the movie with good message at least a good ending ! so Ajith has to be shade positive role always.. he can take negative role ones in a while.., he can play double role in case he want to shade negative role.
Though people surprised to see a hero without duet song and romance scene.. which is surprise for many.

Box office collections of Kollywood movies will never be transparent owing to various politics!
So people take this unclear situation to their advantage will give watever they like! Our intention here is to bring some facts and throw some light on the BO collections.


We need to understand the BOX OFFICE ECONOMICS before starting our analysis,

Producer puts money and take a movie. Either they will sell it to some big production house (Thiru Kumaran Entertainmemt, the producer of Pizza does this often) or they will sell it directly to distributors. Apart from Rajini Sir film..Vijay Ajith Surya & Kamal Sirs film will be sold approximately for following prices as per the past 5 years trend;


TN Area 30-45 crores

Rest of India Up to 10 crores

Overseas Up to 20 Crores

Satellite Rights Up to 20 crores


So if a film releases with high expectations with big stars, directors etc.. it will fetch a good price for producer. Eg: Films like Maatran & Thuppaki has done excellent pre-release business. Maatran fetched more than 80 crores in pre release business, Singan 2 & Thuppaki close to 70 crores & Arrambam got around 65 crores. Surya has an edge in this aspect due to his Telugu market, which is next to Superstar. But Ajith n Vijay don't have this advantage. Ajith films will be always in the lower side due to his mixed BO record and lack of family audience support for his movies. Billa-2 pre-release business was around 45 crores only.


Now let's discuss about Arrambam, This movie was sold for 35 crores in TN Distributors. Now they have to release the movie in cinemas, for which they have to pay the rent which would be 30-45% depending on the theatre. Multiplexes fetch maximum rent than single screen theatres. So assuming an average theatre rent of 40%,the movie has to collect around 58 crore just to break even, then only it will become profit for distributors. If a big star movie carries negative reports on first day then it will be curtains for the distributor.

Ajith sir films always will take bumper opening, with positive word of mouth only sky is the limit. Billa - 2 took an earth shattering opening (more than Thuppaki in terms of gross) but lost its steam from day 2 itself. Hence it struggled to break even, producing loss to distributors. But in case of Arrambam, every body witnessed the opening it got. Any common man can predict that the collections will be much higher than Billa-2 & Thuppaki but reports arrived on the next day saying that it collected 8.75 cr... This was totally absurd..coz the movie with its no of screens released would have easily fetched close to 12 cr.. but nobody cared..main reason told was due to an IT ride the producer was not keen on projecting the BO figures unlike Thuppaki & Singam-2.Opening day collection in TN is definitely crossed 12 cr.. and day 2 close to 9 cr. Due to AAA & Pandiyanadu day3 & 4 put together gave 14 cr. Hence first weekend gross & net (no tax) is 35cr. It went stronger as AAA got poor WOM. Once family audience started liking it the movie has become profitable and will end its lifetime TN gross close to 90cr. Out of this 35 cr will go to theatre rentals, 55cr is the distributor share i.e 20 cr profit for distributors. Thuppaki & Arrambam along with are the only other films grossed close to 90 cr in TN box office. Sivaji grossed 80 cr & Singam 2 close to 70 cr. Endhiran is number 1 by a long distance as it fetched 125+cr in TN box office alone.


Lets have a look at overseas box office, Arrambam was sold for 10cr approx., as Ajith movies are not as famous as Vj & Surya in overseas. But this time Thala showed his real starpower and the movie raked in the moolah faster. USA & Canada collections touched a whoppping 600,000 USD first time for a non Rajini/Kamal starrer. In UK , which is a territory for masala movies (Vijay is the most successful after Rajini & Kamal) the movie got a record opening but fell slightly short of Singam 2 and Thuppaki. But considering the price it was bought the movie is more profitable than the other two films. In Malaysia which is the second largest market to Tamil movies after TN, the movie is expected to collect close to 11 CR ( equals S2 & Thuppaki). Singapore fetches close to 4 cr. France fetched more 1cr. SL, Aus, Gulf and rest of the World gave around 5cr.. So the movie grossed more than 25cr in overseas BO which is close to 300% of the initial price and a clear blockbuster in overseas. (S2 & Thuppaki due to the higher sold price gave less profit compared to Arrambam).


Satellite rights for 13 - 15 cr, Kerala BO sold for 2 cr and grossed close to 10 cr, Karnataka grossed close to 5cr. Now hindi remake rights are to be sold for a whopping price. Andhra rights already sold close to 4 cr. Hence the movie HAS ALREADY CROSSED 150+ CR from BO, Satellite rights, Dubbed & Remake business. The budget (including marketing cost) was close to 60 cr.



Profit for producer close to 22cr, profit for TN distributors close to 20cr, Profit for Overseas & Rest of India distributors close to 20cr. Hindi remake rights if sold for good amount will fetch more profit for producer.



So profit wise Arrambam is overall no:2 next to Endhiran. Thuppaki eventhough has grossed almost same amount its profil is next to Arrambam only.


Arrambam Highlights:


1) Arrambam content & screenplay wise is not as good as Thuppaki but it collected as much as Thuppaki (within a short time) tells that STAR POWER of AJITH is next only to Rajini.


2) Opening collections of the movie was still the talk among distributors, few of the distributors were speechless after seeing the opening. Not only next to Rajini, it is close to Rajini.


3) Eventhough the BO figures are not revealed by anyone officially, distributors says that 4 week of Arrambam collections will equals Thuppaki lifetime collections in TN BO


4) Arrambam is the first non Rajini/Kamal film to gross 25+ cr in overseas BO.



5) US market distributors, after seeing the speed at which they got their returns and profit from Arrambam, are now preffering Veeram over Jilla.

Bollywood ka Baadshah is all praise for director Vishnuvardhan, after watching the trailer of Ajith starrer 'Arrambam'. Vishnuvardhan was formerly an associate to director Santosh Sivan, of 'Asoka' fame. Recently, SRK and Vishnuvardhan met each other and was reported to be reminiscing their 'Asoka' days. It is worth mentioning that Vishnuvardhan has worked on 'Asoka', which starred Shahrukh Khan in the lead and also Ajith in a pivotal role. Traversing through various topics, Shahrukh came to 'Arrambam' and said that he was impressed with the film's trailer.

But the actor has not yet been able to catch the full movie, owing to his tight schedule with 'Happy New Year'. Leaving the meeting with a happy heart, Vishnuvardhan tweeted "Met SRK, loved catching up and remembering 'Asoka' days. He loved 'Arrambam' trailer." It is happy news indeed, as most part of 'Arrambam' was shot in Mumbai and that the film is receiving good reception from B-town. Arrambam has completed its 25 days run in Tamil Nadu and the movie has sustained very well, into its 4th week. Ajith fans celebrated this little milestone by flooding theaters yesterday, which was the 25th day, and gave the movie a grand reception, yet again.

Now, all eyes are on the film's Telugu version, Aata Arrambam, the music of which was released yesterday in a grand event held at the Shilpa Kala Vedika auditorium in Hyderabad, in the presence of many fans and celebrities. The Arrambam crew was in full attendance and the likes of Arya, Rana, producer A.M.Rathnam and director Vishnuvardhan made their presence felt.

The Telugu version of the movie will release on December 6th and the trade is hoping that the film reaps handsome success in Andhra too, like the rest of the world.

కథ :

ఒక్కప్పుడు క్లాస్ మేట్స్ అయిన అర్జున్ (ఆర్య), మాయ (నయనతార) అనుకోకుండా ఎయిర్ పోర్ట్ లో కలుసుకుంటారు. అర్జున్ తాను అనిత (తాప్సి) ని ప్రేమిస్తున్నాను అని మాయ కి చెబుతాడు. వీరిద్దరికీ తెలియకుండా అశోక్ కుమార్ ( అజిత్ ) వీళ్ళని ఫాలో అయ్యి ఇద్దరినీ కిడ్నాప్ చేస్తాడు. మాయ ని చంపేస్తానని బెదిరించి అర్జున్ చేత ఒక టీవీ ఛానల్ ప్రసారాలని హాక్ చేయిస్తాడు. మాయ కూడా అశోక్ కుమార్ మనిషే అని తెలిసి అర్జున్ అశోక్ కుమార్ ని ఎదిరిస్తాడు. కాని అశోక్ కుమార్ తెలివిగా అర్జున్ ప్రియురాలు అనిత ని ఇరికిస్తాడు. గతి లేని స్థితి లో అశోక్ చెపింది చెప్పినట్టు చేస్తూ పథకం ప్రకారం అశోక్ ని పోలీస్ కి పట్టిస్తాడు. అసలు ఎందుకు అశోక్ ఇలా మారాడు, అర్జున్ అశోక్ గురించి నిజం తెలిసి ఏమి చేసాడు అనేది మిగతా కథ .
విశ్లేషణ :

దర్శకుడు విష్ణు వర్ధన్ ఈ సినిమా ని చాల స్టైలిష్ గా తీసాడు. తెలుగు సినిమా " పంజా " లో విఫలం అయినా "ఆట ఆరంభం " తో విజయం సాదించాడు. సినిమా మొత్తం పగడ్బంది స్క్రీన్ ప్లే తో నడిపించాడు . కొన్ని చోట్ల మాటలు చాల బాగున్నాయి. ఇక సినిమా హీరో విషయానికి వస్తే అజిత్ తన స్టైలిష్ నటన తో సినిమా మొత్తం అలరించాడు. సీరియస్ ( మరీ ముఖ్యం గా అతుల్ కులకర్ణి / రాణా దగ్గుబాటి ) సన్నివేశాల లో తన నటన చాలా బాగుంది . అజిత్ కి జోడి గా నటించిన నయనతార పాత్ర చాలా కీలకం . హీరో కి వెన్నుదన్ను గా ఉండే పాత్ర . దీన్ని ఆమె చాలా సమర్ధవంతంగా చేసింది. ఆర్య పాత్ర లో రెండు విబిన్న కోణాలు ఉంటాయి (సస్పెన్స్) . లవర్ బాయ్ గా కనిపించాడు. కొన్ని హాస్య సన్నివేశాల తో మురిపించాడు . తాప్సీ జర్నలిస్ట్ గా నటించింది. ఆర్య ప్రేమికురాలిగా అందంగా అమాయకంగా కనిపించింది. కిడ్నాప్ సన్నివేశం లో తన నటన ఆకట్టుకుంటుంది. మన తెలుగు హీరో రాణా దగ్గుబాటి ఒక ప్రత్యేక పాత్ర లో నటించాడు . అతుల్ కులకర్ణి నటన కూడా బాగుంది.

కథ గా చూస్తే ఇది ఒక సాధారణ ప్రతీకార సినిమా. కాని దర్శకుడు తన స్టైలిష్ స్క్రీన్ ప్లే తో సినిమా ని ఆద్యంతం ఇంటరెస్ట్ గా మలిచాడు . రాజకీయ నాయకుల అక్రమాల వల్ల దేశానికి ఎంత నష్టం వస్తుందో హీరో అజిత్ ద్వారా చెప్పించారు . పాటలు సంధర్బోచితంగా ఉన్నాయి. సంగీత దర్శకుడు యువన్ శంకర్ రాజా మంచి నేపధ్య సంగీతం ని అందించాడు . విసువల్ గా కూడా చాలా బాగుంది.

‘Aata Aarambham’ is a dubbed version of Tamil blockbuster hit Arrambam, directed by Vishnuvardhan. It is a stlylish revenge drama in the backdrop of a political scam. It has Ajith, Arya, Nayantara and Taapsee in the lead roles. Rana Daggubati appears in a small yet very important role.
Story Line:
Ashok (Ajith) successfully blasts three bombs and creates terror in the city of Mumbai. Arjun (Arya) gets duped into Ashok’s plan of hacking one system after another, beginning with a flash network. Ashok gets closer to his goal but gets caught by the police, thanks to Arjun’s smart moves.
Maya (Nayantara), Ashok’s girl friend and ally, narrates the past to Arjun. What is Ashok’s past, why he creates terror in Mumbai, what is his goal and how he achieves it with the help of Maya and Arjun forms rest of the story.
Performances:
Ajith is at his best in ‘Aata Aarambham’. He is stylish yet subtle. He has shown his comic skills in flashback episode in the scenes with Rana. Arya has equal screen space as that of Ajith except for the flashback. He is neat. His chubby get up in his college days is funny. Though Rana Daggubati is seen in a brief role, the entire plot of ‘Aata Aarambham’ is based on his character. He has done a splendid job as a tough cop.
Nayantara is okay. You may get disappointed if you expect her to be a Sasha in Billa. Taapsee is cute and bubbly as Arya’s girl friend. Kishore is good in an important role of a strict police. Mahesh Manjrekar, Atul Kulkarni and Murli Sharma are routine. Suman Ranganathan is seen on Telugu screen after a gap of 12 years (her last film was Bava Nachchadu). She is okay in a negative role.
Technical Aspects:
I underestimated Sreekar Prasad as a bad editor after watching films like Sarvam, Panjaa, Mausam, Shakuni, David, Kadali, etc. He proved me wrong with ‘Aata Arambam’. He showed what he can do if a director gives him a film like ‘Aata Aarambham’. His editing is slick and perfect with no boring or unnecessary scene.
Yuvan Shankar Raja has given one of his career’s best BGM. It haunts you even when you are out of the theater. His tunes are good but AM Ratnam’s Telugu lyrics and the singers who sung in Telugu for these tunes have spoiled them. If you don’t like Yuvan’s music in ‘Aata Aarambham’, listen to the Tamil version songs once. You will change your opinion.
Om Prakash’s cinematography is splendid. The writer-duo Subha aka Suresh and Balakrishnan have written a much complicated script. But Vishnuvardhan made it interesting with a neat and impressive screenplay adding right amount of salt and pepper. ‘Aata Aarambham’ is undoubtedly Vishnuvardhan’s best work till date.
Analysis:
Vishnuvardhan is a film maker who studied pros and cons of Ajith in detail. His brilliance lies in fitting a larger-than-life Ajith perfecly into a cleverly written script without distrubing its essence and at the same time, not damaging the actor’s image. Vishnuvardhan didn’t take the story out of its way to show heroism of Ajith. He needs a pat on his shoulder for not going for a duet between Ajith and Nayantara. As usual, he stayed away from meaningless comedy which is quite common in Tamil flicks.
Right from Ajith to Akshara Gowda, ‘Aata Arambam’ has plenty of characters with different characterizations. The film stands as a testimony for Vishnuvardhan’s screenplay writing skills as he narrated this kind of complicated plot with various characterizations in a simple way giving no room for confusion to the audience. Just like a dialogue in the film, he made it simple. His clarity and grip over the script is outstanding.
On the flip side, villain’s characterization could have been better. Ajith keeps on implementing his plans successfully without much difficulty. If the negative characters played by Mahesh Manjrekar, Atul Kulkarni and Murli Sharma were having brains, ‘Aata Aarambham’ would have been more interesting. ‘Aata Aarambham’ is not made with a universal concept. It will be definitely liked by action lovers and people who like slick and stylish flicks. But for others, it may end up as an okay-watch.
Conclusion:
‘Aata Arambam’ is a stylishly made action film which remains faithful to its genre. It’s racy screenplay doesn’t bore you even for a moment. Though it is not a path-breaking flick, it remains as one of the good films of the year due to its clever writing. It has every chance to stand as Ajith’s comeback film in Telugu. Three cheers to Vishnuvardhan, after all, it is a director’s film.

the scenes i enjoyed most in 'arrambM'

1.after kidnapping arya and nayan, ajith will threaten arya,........at the time the way he talks, walks and facial expressions, mannerisms and how he looks in those black t shirt -100 marks :clap:

2.then comes baby plus iron plus bad guy no 1-after getting what ajith wanted, when he was leaving ...he turns around and shoots point blank at the bad guy. n the expressions on arya and bad guy's wife faces were priceless. :lol:

3.the scene where he brings arya after kidnapping him to his place to meet taapsee for the 1st time. ajith opens the door and walks in with arya and nayan, the way he walks looked so..so cute, i loved it. :cool:
people say he walks a lot in his film, but they have to agree that he has the most stylish walk in tamil cinema

4. and then ajith kidnaps bad guy no2 with the help of nayan , he brings bad guy no2 to his place, he learns that arya told the truth about ajith to taapsee.
then argument and fight between ajith and arya and police come in...
they escape in a car and the car overturns...... i loved all of them.. :thumbsup:

then ajith escapes the prison van and jumps to arya 's car...... it was quick and so good to watch ... :clap: again

6.the flashback scene with rana..especially he and rana go to rescue the hostage situation. ajith looked great in those uniform and the fights inside the small space
with hostage villains.
and the sad part where rana dies :cry2: ... ajith 's acting was so realistic and superb... 110 marks

7.dubai scenes...from the song 'tamilachi' upto akshara jumbs from the boat :lol: ... i enjoyed all.

Ajith’s Aata Arrambam- Verdicts from Andhra!

Ajith and Vishnuvardhan’s Arrambam’s Telugu version, Aata Arrambam released big in Andhra Pradesh yesterday, 6th December 2013. The movie seems to have been getting good reviews there too, with Ajith being unanimously praised for his screen presence. The BO numbers are apparently impressive too. The presence of Rana Daggubatti, Nayanthara and Taapsee has worked in favour of the movie.

Meanwhile, Arrambam is doing great business down south too. The Tamil version is still going strong and has been declared a Super Hit.

On the other hand, Ajith is gearing up for his next release. Director Siva’s Veeram, starring Ajith and Tamannah in the lead will release on January 10th 2014. Also, Ajith will begin his project with Gautham Vasudev Menon in February 2014.

Reviews,Tweets all conveys one thing its not the Script or Vishnuvardhan getting rave reviews only Ajith's Magic has got Whistles,Hungama in Theatres .

Usually in Andhra among the Dubbed Films Rajini gets such whistles etc for His Style/Dialogue inspite of Director From Baasha..Muthu ..Narasimha(Padayappa).Arunachalam... etc..Such a Phenomenon has started for Ajith too(atleast this film) Just for Walks/Dialogues His Stlye ...

One Thing Varalaaru remake was bought by Chiranjeevi back then in 2006...but he didnt do it If it was dubbed.followed by Billa..He would hav been almost as Surya level now in AP market...
Ajit was the first among the currnet gen to make entry in AP through Premalekha(KadhalKottai) then following Adbutham(amarkalam) Kandukondein till Vaali he had a great run among dubbed ..Failing to Stabilise on that and after long time Gambler did become decent hit...Now Arrambam is getting response more than expected... indeed a great comeback without Shankar,Murugadoss,GVM likes is a feat...

The Ajith starrer is still getting screened in theatres even after completing 40 days at the box office.

"Arrambam" is estimated to have grossed ₹12 crore at the Chennai box office. The action entertainer, which released on 31 October, is still managing to get decent theatre occupancy, thanks to no big releases.


Although several films released in the last month, they were not able to score big at the box office and it appears that the audience still prefers to watch "Arrambam" over other films.

The film has already been declared a super hit. According to reports, the Ajith starrer reportedly grossed over ₹100 crore at the worldwide box office, with Tamil Nadu contributing a major chunk of it.

"Arrambam" has performed well in key overseas markets including US, UK, Singapore and Malaysia.

The Telugu dubbed version of "Arrambam", which released on 6 December, is also doing well at the Andhra Pradesh box office. The film took an average opening on the first day of its release, despite other Telugu releases.
