அஜீத்குமார் நடித்து, ஏ.எம்.ரத்னம் தயாரித்த படத்துக்கு கடந்த ஒரு வருடமாக பெயர் சூட்டப்படாமல் இருந்தது. படம் முடிவடைந்து தணிக்கைக்கு அனுப்பப்படும் நிலையில் அந்த படத்துக்கு, ‘ஆரம்பம்’ என்று பெயர் சூட்டப்பட்டு இருக்கிறது.

பெயர் சூட்டப்படாத படம்

பொதுவாக ஒரு புதிய படத்தை தொடங்கும்போது, முதலில் அந்த படத்துக்கு பெயர் சூட்டப்படும். பிறகுதான் படப்பிடிப்பை தொடங்குவார்கள். அஜீத் கதாநாயகனாக நடிக்க, ஏ.எம்.ரத்னம் தயாரித்த புதிய படத்துக்கு பெயர் சூட்டாமலே படப்பிடிப்பை தொடங்கினார்கள்.

கடந்த வருடம் ஜூன் மாதம் இந்த படத்தின் படப்பிடிப்பு தொடங்கியது. மும்பையிலும், துபாயிலும் படம் வளர்ந்தது. கடந்த மாதம் முழு படப்பிடிப்பும் முடிவடைந்தது. இருப்பினும் படத்துக்கு பெயர் சூட்டப்படவில்லை. கதைக்கு பொருத்தமான பெயரை தேர்ந்தெடுப்பதில் அஜீத், டைரக்டர் விஷ்ணுவர்தன், பட அதிபர் ஏ.எம்.ரத்னம் ஆகிய மூவரும் கவனம் செலுத்தினார்கள்.

‘ஆரம்பம்’

படத்தின் பெயரை தெரிந்துகொள்வதில் ரசிகர்கள் மிகுந்த ஆர்வம் காட்டினார்கள். இந்த நிலையில், அஜீத் நடிக்கும் படத்துக்கு, ‘வலை’ என்றும், ‘தல’ என்றும் பெயர்கள் சூட்டியிருப்பதாக சில கற்பனையான செய்திகள் வெளிவந்தன.

இப்போது இந்த படத்துக்கு, ‘ஆரம்பம்’ என்று பெயர் சூட்டியிருப்பதாக பட அதிபர் ஏ.எம்.ரத்னம் நேற்று ‘தினத்தந்தி’ நிருபரிடம் தெரிவித்தார்.

அஜீத் நடித்து முடித்துள்ள ‘ஆரம்பம்,’ மும்பையில் நடந்த ஒரு உண்மை சம்பவத்தை அடிப்படையாக கொண்ட கதை.

நயன்தாரா

இதில் அஜீத் ஜோடியாக நயன்தாரா நடித்து இருக்கிறார். ஆர்யாவும், டாப்சியும் இன்னொரு ஜோடியாக நடித்துள்ளனர். யுவன் சங்கர் ராஜா இசையமைத்து இருக்கிறார்.

இந்த படம், செப்டம்பர் மாதம் திரைக்கு வர இருப்பதாக ஏ.எம்.ரத்னம் கூறினார்.

‘ஆரம்பம்’ படத்தின் படப்பிடிப்பின்போது நயன்தாராவுக்கும், டாப்சிக்கும் இடையே எந்த கருத்து வேறுபாடும் ஏற்படவில்லை. சண்டையும் நடக்கவில்லை’’ என்று டைரக்டர் விஷ்ணுவர்தன் கூறினார்.

அஜீத்–நயன்தாரா ஜோடியாக நடித்து, ஏ.எம்.ரத்னம் மேற்பார்வையில், விஷ்ணுவர்தன் டைரக்ஷனில் தயாராகியிருக்கும் படம், ‘ஆரம்பம்.’ இந்த படத்தின் படப்பிடிப்பு முழுவதும் முடிவடைந்தது. பின்னணி இசை சேர்ப்பு வேலைகள் நடைபெறுகின்றன.

‘ஆரம்பம்’ படத்தை பற்றி டைரக்டர் விஷ்ணுவர்தன் கூறியதாவது:–

‘‘இது, ஒரு ஆக்ஷன் டிராமா. கதைக்கு பொருத்தமான பெயர் சூட்டப்பட்டு இருக்கிறது. ‘ஆரம்பம்,’ முற்றிலும் புதிய களத்தில் படமாகியிருக்கிறது. நான் இதுவரை டைரக்டு செய்த படங்களில் இருந்து மாறுபட்ட கதையம்சம் கொண்ட படம். அஜீத் கதாபாத்திரம் புதுசாக இருக்கும். அவரை, ‘கிரே’ கலர் சிகை அலங்காரத்துடன் திரையில் காண்பிக்க நான்தான் முதலில் ஆசைப்பட்டேன். ‘மங்காத்தா’ படத்தில் வெங்கட்பிரபு முந்திக் கொண்டார்.

கதை

மற்ற எல்லா படங்களையும் விட அஜீத்தை ‘ஆரம்பம்’ படத்தில் மிக அழகாக காட்டியிருக்கிறேன். அவருடைய ஸ்டைல் இந்த படத்தில் நிறைய இருக்கும்.

கதையை பொருத்தவரை ஒரு வரியில் சொல்ல வேண்டும் என்றால், இது ஒரு பாதிக்கப்பட்ட மனிதனின் போராட்டம் என்று கூறலாம். இதில், தாதாக்களின் கூட்டம் கிடையாது.

இந்த கதைக்கு மும்பை நகர பின்னணி தேவைப்பட்டது. பெரும்பகுதி காட்சிகளை அங்கேதான் படமாக்கி இருக்கிறோம். துபாய், குலுமனாலி, மத்திய பிரதேசம் போன்ற இடங்களிலும் படப்பிடிப்பு நடத்தினோம்.

நயன்தாரா

இதுவரை பார்த்திராத அஜீத்தையும், நயன்தாராவையும் இந்த படத்தில் பார்க்கலாம். நயன்தாராவை பொருத்தவரை சில படங்களில் காதல்–டூயட் காட்சிகளுக்கு மட்டுமே பயன்படுத்தியிருப்பார்கள். இந்த படத்தில் அவருடைய கதாபாத்திரம் முழுவதுமாக மாறுபட்டது. கனமான கதாபாத்திரம்.

இதில் அவரை காதல்வசப்பட்ட பெண்ணாக காட்டவில்லை. படம் முழுக்க வருவார். அஜீத் நடத்தும் போராட்டங்களுக்கு உறுதுணையாக இருப்பார்.

ஆர்யாவும், டாப்சியும் இன்னொரு ஜோடியாக வருவார்கள். இரண்டு கதாநாயகர்கள் இருப்பதால் இருவரும் சகோதரர்களாக நடிக்கிறார்களா? என்று நிறைய பேர் கேட்கிறார்கள். இரண்டு பேரும் சகோதரர்கள் அல்ல. இரண்டு பேருக்கும் இடையே எந்த உறவுமுறையும் கிடையாது.

சண்டையா?

பொதுவாக இரண்டு கதாநாயகிகள் சேர்ந்து நடித்தால், அவர்களுக்கு இடையே சண்டை வந்து விடும் என்பார்கள். ஆனால், ‘ஆரம்பம்’ படத்தில் அது நடக்கவில்லை. நயன்தாராவுக்கும், டாப்சிக்கும் இடையே ‘‘யார் உயர்ந்தவர்?’’ என்ற எண்ணம் ஏற்படவில்லை.

படப்பிடிப்பின்போது இருவரும் ஒன்றாக அமர்ந்து பேசிக்கொண்டிருப்பார்கள். படப்பிடிப்பு முடிந்த பிறகும் சேர்ந்து சுற்றுவார்கள். இரண்டு பேரும் நெருக்கமான சினேகிதிகள் ஆகிவிட்டார்கள்.’’

இவ்வாறு டைரக்டர் விஷ்ணுவர்தன் கூறினார்.

Thala Ajith had made quite a few heads turn with his daring act in the 2011 superhit, Mankatha. His 'sans makeup' 'salt and pepper' looks and mean villainy in the movie were lapped up by the masses. Now, for his upcoming Arrambam, he is continuing his much loved 'salt and pepper' looks and director Vishnuvardhan expects that Arrambam will prove to be a trendsetter for other mass heroes to also try similar films.

In Arrambam, there won't be any 'running around trees' romance, unbelievable stunts or society reforming punch dialogues from Ajith and such image building scenes have been avoided totally. This in itself would kickoff a new trend for mass heroes like Ajith, feels Vishnuvardhan.

Since Ajith is one who doesn't care much about his onscreen image, the director's job was made easier. Vishnu also vouches that no other actor can carry off this 'salt and pepper' look as casually and stylishly as Ajith has been doing.

Ajith’s Arrambam to have a low profile release

There are few reports coming up suggesting that the much awaited music of Ajith-Vishnuvardhan’s Arrambam would release on the birth day of composer Yuvan Shankar Raja, which falls on the 31st of August.

Refuting the rumours, sources close to Yuvan claim that the music would come much before his birthday. However, another source close to the team maintains that the audio launch would be a low profile one, probably in a popular radio station.

Meanwhile, the film starring Ajith, Nayanthara, Arya, Taapsee, Rana Daggubatti, Atul Kulkarni, Mahesh Manjrekar and Suman Ranganathan is expected to be a September release. Om Prakash has cranked the camera and Sreekar Prasad has edited the project.

Q: What are the pressures involved in directing a mass hero like Ajith?

A: I thoroughly enjoy working with an actor like Ajith. We are friends at the first place. When I started my career as assistant director in Asoka I got acquainted with Ajith. The rapport between us is very comfortable. Ajith is an intelligent actor. He knows his limitations. If given an option, he will open up. He pulls it off on screen with elegance eventually.

Q: How different is Arrambam from Billa?

A: Billa was like old wine in a new bottle. And first things first. Arrambam is no gangster film. The story has enough twists and surprise elements and it travels to several places. It was shot in a contemporary and stylish way. ‘Arrambam’ is an action-drama and there are enough emotional elements in it.

Q: On working with such a huge star cast?

A: It was not a conscious decision to have a huge cast. As and when we were developing the story, the need to have such a team was felt. Interestingly, the actors tend to reflect their real life character on screen too. There tends to be some logistic problems when you shoot for multi-starrers and thankfully we overcame all that to ensure the whole movie was shot in just 120 days.

Q: What are the highlights of ‘Arrambam’?

A: Whatever I say, in the end it is an Ajith film. His charm and charisma is everything. At the same time, a team of talented technicians have come together to add more polish. I am joining hands with writers Subha for the first time. Their forte is writing and I got a new perspective interacting with them. National award winning art director Ilayaraja’s work and Om Prakash’s cinematography are strengths for me.

Q: Your rapport with Yuvan Shankar Raja?

A: All through my career, I have travelled with Yuvan Shankar Raja. We are good friends and it goes beyond our working relationship. He knows my taste and preference and exactly reproduces the same. He gives me enough inputs and gives a patient hearing to what I need.

Q: Why was the title of the movie made known so late?

A: We had no intention to keep it a secret. From day one, we wanted to have a title that fits well for the story. There were many suggestions. Finally we arrived at ‘Arrambam’. It suggests a beginning. I felt it was appropriate for the story for it signifies a beginning towards change.

Ajith’s ‘Aarambam’ scene leaked in Internet

While Ajith’s ‘Arrambam’ with Vishnuvardhan gearing up for release next month, a 57 second rough cut of a scene from the film has been leaked. The scene leaked shows Ajith hanging upside down and being beaten by the bad guys. It is obvious that the guy who leaked it had secretly filmed it during the making.

Thala Ajith is the most talked about person on social media networking sites and the leaked scene spread like wildfire. An agitated Vishnuvardhan tweeted “It’s very disappointing to see the visuals leaked. I can assure it’s not from any of my technical departments. My guys are on the job of finding the source. Let’s just ignore this and look forward to the film.”

It is said that the particular scene with Ajith hanging upside down was shoot a year back in Mumbai. The sequence was apparently taken for a whole night. The buzz is that Ajith denied the idea of using a dupe for this scene in Aarambam and wanted to do it himself and the the star for a whole night was hanging upside down.

The long-awaited announcement that Ajith’s multi-starrer is to be titled Arrambam has come at a time when the film is almost complete. The immediate question that arose after the announcement was what did this “beginning” refer to? “We didn’t want an extravagant title. I could have just named the film ‘Thala’, but I knew it would focus too much on the star and not on the film. That’s why I zeroed in on Arrambam (‘Beginning’ in English),” says the film’s director, Vishnuvardhan. This 'beginning' refers to the ordinary man’s fight against an important issue in society. Declining to state what the issue is, the filmmaker simply says it is ‘a fictional story based on a real incident’.

The phenomenal success of the filmmaker’s earlier collaboration with Ajith, Billa, which showcased the actor as a stylish gangster, could not have made things easy. What frame of mind was Vishnuvardhan in before starting to work on this film? “Obviously, I didn’t want to repeat the style and treatment of Billa. There are no black coats, sunglasses or ramp walk in this film. Also, Arrambam isn’t a gangster flick. While Billa was basically old wine in a new bottle, this film has action in its DNA. I have given it a contemporary touch,” says Vishnuvardhan.

Strong characterisation

Despite the fact that this is an ‘Ajith Kumar film’, one can’t help but notice its stellar cast: Ajith, Nayantara, Arya, Tapsee, Rana Daggubati, Mahesh Manjrekar, Atul Kulkarni… How difficult was it to write a script to justify their presence in the film? “Even as I was writing the script, I found that each of these characters gradually grew stronger. That is how Arya, who plays a hacker in the film, was roped in. None of the actors in the film play trivial characters. Every character has been so designed that if removed from the script, the film will fall apart,” he explains. The film’s speciality, says Vishnu, lies in the way it unfolds in a non-linear fashion. “The characters come with multi-layers that peel off as the story evolves,” he says.

Can fans expect to see a different side of Ajith in this film? “Indeed. You will notice that his energy level has gone up. He has no inhibitions as an actor. He is someone who will do anything if the character demands it,” he says.

The last little part of work that is remaining in Ajith's Arrambam is set to be completed and one of the actresses in the movie, Taapsee, has reported for duty in Chennai and with this schedule, it's a wrap-up. Ajith has meanwhile left for a little break for Bangalore and it isn't known yet if he would be working for this schedule.

Yuvan's music for the movie is expected to be released sometime in September and the expectations from him are high as always.

The team of Arrambam have started opening out to some interviews, and the marketing drive is slowly but surely being commenced. The recent interview on a leading channel was attended by Vishnuvardhan, Arya and producer A.M.Rathnam and they shared a lot of exciting tidbits about the movie.

Arrambam is being targeted as a Diwali release and with Kamal's Vishwaroopam 2 also eyeing the festival of lights, it sure promises to be the big daddy of all clashes if Arrambam and V2 collide.

Vishnuvardhan directed 'Arrambam' starring Ajith, Nayanthara, Arya and Taapsee is gearing for a Diwali release with the last and final schedule starting today in Chennai. The film is almost wrapped with just some patch work being completed in this schedule. Handsome hunk Rana Daggubati, plays an important role in the film produced by AM Rathnam's Sri Surya Movies, in association with A Raghuram's Sri Satya Sai Movies.

The team has shot some high energy action sequences in Dubai, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Mahabaleshwar, Jaisalmer, Leh and Ladakhs. Arrambam's music for an auspicious occasion ?

The latest buzz around town about Ajith's Arrambam is that the music of the film might be released on the 9th of September, to coincide with Vinayaga Chathurthi. We decided to investigate on this further and this is what we came up with.

Sony Music, the rights holder, say that they are yet to receive the final master of Arrambam's music. Yuvan Shankar Raja has handed over the final master of the music to the producers of the movie, but they are yet to hand it over to Sony Music. The date of the launch will be decided by the producers, according to Sony Music.

Sources close to the director feel that September 9th might be an appropriate day to release the music as it is an auspicious day, but they weren't willing to commit the exact date.

Yuvan is the toast of the town for his rocking Biriyani score, which was released yesterday, and the expectations for Arrambam, which were already high, have hit the roof.

The announcement of Arrambam's music launch date is sure to send Ajith's fans into frenzy mode.

Arrambam Is Not A Gangster Film – Vishnuvardhan

Vishnuvardhan is among the newer crop of directors, who have built a lot of reputation for themselves. The man behind Ajith’s stylish ‘Billa’ is working with the actor again in ‘Arrambam’. He has already sent the fans’ pulses racing with the bits of information and visuals released so far.

He continues to work on wrapping up the hugely-hyped project which has a star-studded cast and looks forward to delivering a hit once again. Vishnu is pretty much upbeat about the prospects of ‘Arrambam’ and is all praise for Ajith. The film is expected to be a Deepavali release.

In a free-wheeling chat, Vishnuvardhan talks about working with Ajith (whom he prefers to call Thala) and their film ‘Arrambam’.

First things first, tell us about ‘Arrambam’ and working with Ajith…

It has shaped up very well and I am excited about it. Ajith is a great person to work with. He is an intelligent actor who knows his limitations.

You directed Ajith in ‘Billa’, which was a huge hit, so do the expectations weigh you down?

Yes, naturally expectations are high as I have teamed up with Ajith after a mega hit like Billa. I know I have to deliver my best. I think I have done a great job and have to thank Thala for his cooperation. Arrambam is an action-drama and a contemporary film.

Throw some light on what ‘Arrambam’ would be…

Contrary to expectations, it is not a gangster film. It will be an action-packed, fast-paced venture, much to the liking of Ajith fans.

You seem to share a great rapport with Thala…

(Smiles) Yeah. I have (always) thoroughly enjoyed working with Ajith. We are friends and share an excellent rapport. Ajith pulls it off on-screen with elegance.

How different is ‘Arrambam’ from ‘Billa’?

‘Billa’ was like old wine in a new bottle. ‘Arrambam’ is no gangster film and has been made in a contemporary and stylish way. There are enough twists and emotional elements in it.

How close is the film to the finish line?

(Pauses) Very much. One final schedule is currently underway and now we hope to finish it quickly. The next step would be post-production and audio launch. It is going to be an exciting final lap.

About Yuvan Shankar’s Raja’s music…

He is an awesome composer and has delivered consistently. Fans can expect great stuff in Arrambam too.

Ajith's Arrambam directed by Vishnuvardhan has been in production for more than a year now and the film is nearing completion with just a little patchwork remaining. The team, including Taapsee and Nayantara, was spotted shooting in a popular college in Chennai City over the past week.

Arrambam's music by Yuvan Shankar Raja is rumoured to be releasing in the first week of September around the auspicious Vinayaga Chathurthi day. But, there isn't any official word about the music release date yet.

A section of the trade was expecting the movie to release for Diwali to cash in on the festive period. Others films such as Vaalu, Ivan Vera Mathiri and Endrendrum Punnagai are already in the Diwali race while Kamal's Vishwaroopam 2 might be pushed back to get a solo release window.

Now, we hear that Arrambam might also not make it for Diwali as work on the movie might not be complete by then and also, solo releases work better for big star ventures such as this.

Ajith has had a successful love affair with Diwali as quite a few of his superhits such as Villain and Varalaru have released for the 'festival of lights'. This time around, it looks like Thala might miss his Diwali date.

We are waiting for an official word from the producers of Arrambam on their release plans and to clear the air. Thala fans are all ears for this announcement.

A simple request to both Vijay and Ajith fans..... Either trust a source fully or do not trust it at all...... If you are gonna believe the news just posted in behindwoods about arrabham it is well and good..... Then please do the same for all news irrespective of the actor that you patronize..... Saw some posts in Thalaiva thread previously that Nanban did not do as well as expected and was a breakeven according to sify ....... But Behindwoods report here says otherwise .... these collections and stuff, nobody can say for sure as it is not transparent ...... But the least we can do is stick to our stand and believe all the news that is reported by a particular source..... This banter between Ajith and Vijay fans is good as long it stays within decent limits ....Friendly banters do make the thread lively..... But with the use of certain distasteful words it makes viewing these threads unpleasant

The strong run that Nanban is having in certain circuits even a month after its release has got the distributors raving about the wonders it has performed at the box office. Nanban has shown nothing less than phenomenal performance in the Madurai and Coimbatore belts. The distributors for these areas, Ramesh and Sivakumar, respectively have stated that almost all centres are witnessing repeat audiences and that is sustaining the collections in a big way. The gross collection of Nanban from 4 circuits of Coimbatore is around Rs. 5.5 crores. This is next only to Superstar’s Endhiran that had done a business of Rs. 8.0 crores during its initial month in the same 4 circuits. Yes, a difference of 2.5 crores in a months run in a district between two movies is quite huge. But, one must also take into account the fact that the tickets for Endhiran during the initial week had sold out for Rs. 500 and above while Nanban tickets were in the normal range of Rs 70-100 in both Madurai and Coimbatore. What does this mean? Well, it’s a complex issue of various factors. That a star can command houseful audiences even with tickets selling for Rs.500 is an indication of the crowd pulling power that he has. At the same time, if Nanban has gone on to make nearly 70% of Endhiran’s collection within the same running period, it means that it commanded a lot of repeat audiences, which the distributors say is true. Of course, we should also understand that the lower ticket rates is also a factor in attracting repeat audiences; which is something that Endhiran could not have done with ticket rates hitting the ceiling.

All said and done, the final numbers state one fact; in many circuits the business that Nanban has generated is second only to Endhiran; and it is definitely the highest ever numbers generated by a Vijay starrer; not to forget Jiiva. And, in the midst of Endhiran, Nanban, Rajni and Vijay, we should not forget the one man common to all this- shankar. He has truly emerged as the biggest revenue generating director of the industry.
