CS Amuthanin's tamil padam was the first full length Tamil Spoof movie. According to me he succeeded in his JOB as Spoof movie director. Spoof movie need lot of extreme thoughts & Comic Sense, which was flavored throughout TP. This movie as a diff tag line - Expect a step ahead of Tamil Padam in his SECOND MOVIE.

Tamil Padam was much much better product than the Venkatprabu gumbal. that too premji.

oru vaatti paakkalaam type thaan. naduvula, esp, 2nd half la bore adichaalum, padam muzhukka oru flow irunthuchi.

munna maathiri naama theatre la mattum thaanaa padam paakkurom. when some scenes are shown in TV, it is still interesting for me.

but intha 2nd movie eppadi irukkumnu theriyala.

infact, after a point, lollu saba was more boring becos of highly repeated pattern.

Goa started out promising, then fizzled out. No thanks to PremG as well. TP fun as a movie fan, catching up on the references, laughing at the gentle poke on the cliches and formulas.

Goa's so-called humour is limited, much of it milked from Dude having crush on PremG, and the latter having no idea, blah, blah, blah, or and the poor Inglis. TP's source of joy comes from spotting the films, and "getting it". TP benefitted largely from the deadpan Siva as he seriously go through some of the most ridiculous things surrounding him. Everyone played it straight, even VAM, even Shanmugasundaram! And that was the main thing funny about it. Goa saw all of them trying to be funny, couple of scenes worked for me, but that's it.

no Rakesh, that gets tiring and boring after a while.
it can work in tv when you get that for 20 mins, but not in a full length movie.

take nielsen' airplane, it has lots of creativity
or mel brooks - heck he should be making his own movies and not spoofs.
- these are masters at making spoofs... with the required amount of creativity

TP at most is a ara vekkaadu film which assumes that all you need to do is copy scenes and reenact them,
you may get some smiles here and there, but thats it.

For example : Hospital ramana scene , Solaiyamma ponathula irunthu ivar ippdi thaan antha maari konjam scenes , Siva killing delhi ganesh , intro song imitations ... athellam verum scenes ah paatha nalla irrukum but padama 3 hrs paaka mudila... Athuvum antha D D nu :banghead:

Nice tactic to put an end to argument NOV. your comparison DSP :: Deva is not withstanding-nu thaane sonnen athukku ethukku muttikittu... mokkai saamy premjiya azhaga kalatti vittuteengha he has so much spoiling space with a white girl, songs, stunts, military gimmickism what not.

The comparison apart, like groucho said as a movie fan you will enjoy it its more of a journey rather expecting a rib-ticking, rotfl complete spoofs.
I would say that cinemapatti is the most crucial portion of this movie and it cannot be ignored.

1) Shiva's entry and Virumandi's exit :rotfl2: (Brilliant! and it cannot exist without railway stations)
2) Sollaiyamma's Rajkiran :clap: & Nattamai's present conditions (both are unwilling to give up while all others have left).
3) Trouser milk boy'ku sela - I forgot this that was good as well.
4) No way Route boards (without explaining much....)
5) Shanmugasundaram who else could have been a better person there :notworthy:

Its the misconception some think that the director/writer just voluntarily picked up some scenes and spoofed it no its not.

1) The rise of a star within a cycle pedaling.
2) The rise of a businessman within a coffee reach.
3) The rise of a son in engagement ruffle/twist and the flashback that follows up.
4) The climax fight/button attacks are all obvious 70's/80's cliches mogambo like..

There is a very good connectivity in binding the script without missing much.

NSK iruntha kalathula Thangavelu, T.R.Ramachandran, appuram Nagesh kaalathula CHO, Goundamani ku oru Senthil (although they hunted in pairs......), Vivek-Vadivelu....antha maathiri ipo field la paartha Santhanam thavira vera solo comedian yaarum irukkara maathiri therila..... Shiva can fill that comedian spot i believe.....

I'd categorise Imsai as more of a Satire. Very well written one. They could easily fall into the spoof trap of using English, and contemporary slangs.
