I'm not that big a fan of her mother roles off-late. But just the fact she had the most expressive face & was able to a create memorable character without much fuss in Nayakan (would say she slightly deserved over Archana's Veedu which won NA best actress, mostly coz it was more of an 'art film') lingers in a 80's child's mind. Archana/Saranya were in deed refreshing change coz the idea of performance in 80's were all about BR's & KB's caricatures (clue: Su-ha-si-ni)

I understand your point. So you mean to say that these two films might have tied and they distributed the award? Even if this is the case, the distribution is not balanced. They have awarded all major categories to Aadukalam (direction, original screenplay, best actor (it is shared), editing), but the malayalam film bagged best film, cinematography, background score with best acting (shared). Only two major categories for Malayalam, but still won best film without it's director and/or screenplay.
Anyway good news for TFI bagging good number of awards this time.

It’s raining national awards in Kollywood as Tamil cinema reaped a rich harvest at the 58thNational Film Awards which was announced on Thursday in New Delhi.

After a week of the Pithamagan of tinsel town, K. Balachandar, being chosen for the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Tamil cinema bagging as many as 14 National Awards in top categories including Best Actor to Dhanush for his performance in Aadukalam, Best Actress to Saranya Ponvannan for Thenmerkku Paruvakkattru and Best Director to Vetrimaran for Aadukalam.

Bollywood, which otherwise dominates the National Award scenario, was pushed to the background this year with Salman Khan starrer Dabangg and Ishqiy featuring Naseerudeen Shah being the only two films to pick up awards in major categories.

The jury members made a special mention about Dhanush and acknowledged the young actor’s good work.

“His is a riveting performance that fuses character and actor into one.” They also praised superstar Rajnikanth’s son-in-law for his raw and nuanced portrayal of a cocky young man Karuppu who learns his lessons about life the hard way in Aadukalam. He is the youngest actor to have won the award.

It did not come as a surprise when Saranya Ponvannan picked up the Best Actress Award for her offbeat role of a doting mother from a remote village. Her spellbinding performance had been critically acclaimed by the entire media and audiences.

For director Vetrimaran it was a double dhamaka. The new-age filmmaker won the Best Director Award for his path-breaking movie Aadukalam and his narrative style and presentation bagged him the Best Screenplay Award. It was the sixth time that ace lyricist Vairamuthu was adjudged the Best Lyricist at the national scene.

Meanwhile Rajnikanth’s Endhiran got the Best Special Effects Awards and Best Production Design Award.

Producer Aascar Ravichandran said, “There has been a healthy trend in Tamil cinema in the recent past. It is heart warming to see that the attention of National Awards has turned to Tamil films which also proves that Kollywood films do not lag behind.”

The dance master was in Switzerland working for a Tamil and a Telugu film when DC contacted him. “I am really sad that I was away from Chennai, not able to share my joy over the very big honour. Though, I have got state and other awards, this is the first time I am getting National Award. I dedicate this award to the entire Aadukalam team."

களவாணி படத்தில் நடித்த விமலின் நடிப்பை இயக்குநர் கே.பாலச்சந்தர் இப்படி விமர்சித்திருந்தார் - இயல்பான, எதார்த்தமான நடிப்பு, அருமையான நடிகர் தமிழ் சினிமாவுக்குக் கிடைத்துள்ளார்.

அங்காடித் தெரு படத்தைப் பார்த்து கலங்காத, பதறாத மனங்களே கிடையாது. பிரகாசமான வெளிச்சத்திற்கு மத்தியில் இருட்டு வாழ்க்கை வாழ்ந்து வரும் அப்பாவி இளைஞர்கள், இளம் பெண்களின் வாழ்க்கையை வெளிச்சத்திற்குக் கொண்டு வந்து போட்டு, மனங்களை உலுக்கியெடுத்த அருமையான படம்.

இப்படி ஒரு கதையை தமிழ் சினிமாக்காரர்கள் ஏன் இத்தனை காலமாக மக்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கவே இல்லை என்று அத்தனை பேரும் அதிசயித்துப் போன படம் அங்காடித் தெரு. அபாரமான நடிப்பு, அருமையான திரைக்கதை, இயல்பான இசை, இயற்கையான நடிப்பு என படம் முழுக்க சிறப்புகள்தான் அதிகம்.

அதேபோல இசைக்காக பேசப்பட்ட படம் நந்தலாலா. அதன் கதை, வேறு ஒரு இடத்திலிருந்து உருவி எடுக்கப்பட்டது என்றாலும் கூட படத்தின் பி்ன்னணி இசை மிகப் பிரமாதமாக இருந்ததாக அத்தனை பேராலும் பேசப்பட்ட படம் நந்தலாலா. இசைஞானி இளையராஜா என்ற ஒரே ஒரு மனிதரின் அபாரமான இசைதான் இந்தப் படத்தை தூக்கிப் பிடித்து நிறுத்தியது என்று கூறலாம். இந்த இசைக்கு விருது தரப்படவில்லை.

பிறகு மைனா. இந்தப் படத்தைப் பாராட்டாத வாய்களே இல்லை. கமல்ஹாசன் படத்தின் ரிலீஸுக்கு முன்பே கூறி விட்டார். தமிழ் சினிமா இனி நன்றாக இருக்கும், நான் நிம்மதியாக தூங்குவேன் என்று கூறி விட்டார். படம் வெளியான பின்னர் அதைப் பார்த்த சூப்பர் ஸ்டார் ரஜினிகாந்த்தோ, இந்தப் படத்தில் நான் நடிக்காமல் விட்டு விட்டேனே என்று ஆதங்கப்பட்டார். படத்தைப் பார்த்த அத்தனை பேரும் பாராட்டிய விஷயம், இயல்பான கதை, அருமையான திரைக்கதை, அபாரமான நடிப்பு, அழகான இசை ஆகியவற்றைத்தான்.

இதேபோல ஒரு சாதாரண கதையை மிக மிக அழகாக, கவிதை போல வடித்திருந்தார் இளம் இயக்குநர் விஜய் தனது மதராசபட்டணம் படத்தில். இப்படத்தின் கதையும் சரி, அதில் நடித்த எமி ஜாக்சனும் சரி, இசையும் சரி எல்லாமே பிரமாதம். இந்தப் படத்தைப் பற்றி பல பக்கங்கள் கொண்ட மிக நீண்ட விமர்சனத்தை எழுதி சிலாகித்திருந்தார் கே.பாலச்சந்தர். உலகின் மிகச் சிறந்த இயக்குநர் வரிசையில் விஜய் அமருவார் என்றும் புகழாரம் சூட்டியிருந்தார். விஜய்யின் இயக்கம் அவ்வளவு அபாரமானதாக இருந்தது.

இப்படி எத்தனையோ படங்கள், சிறப்பான படங்கள், அபாரமான படங்கள், சிறந்த நடிப்பு, இசை, இயக்கம், திரைக்கதை என வந்திருந்தும் இந்தப் படங்களுக்கு ஒரு விருது கூட தரப்படாமல் புறக்கணிக்கப்பட்டிருப்பது பெரும் வியப்பாக உள்ளது. சிறப்புக் குறிப்பில் கூட இந்தப் படங்களில் ஒன்று கூட இடம் பெறவில்லை. அதுதான் பெரிய ஆச்சரியமாக உள்ளது.

உட்கார்ந்து யோசித்தாலும், படுத்தபடி யோசித்தாலும் கூட ஆடுகளத்திற்கு இத்தனை விருதுகள் எப்படி கிடைத்தன என்பதற்கு சத்தியமாக விடை தெரியவில்லை. உங்களுக்கு ஏதாவது தெரியுதா?

angadi theru is the only movie can stand against AADUKALAM from last year release.....the other mentioed movies are worthless for considering or thinking for national awards.... dhanush did very good job and his voice modulation is excellent.... looks like dhanush is the youngest person to receive the national award in best actor category... kudos dhanush...

Angadi Theru is a Masterpiece and the movie deserves much work ethics than these awards.
