Eros International to co-produce Rana

Sultan progresses at brisk pace
Eros International has joined hands with Soundarya Rajinikanth's Ocher Studios and will now co-produce Rajnikanth's Rana (earlier titled Sultan-The Warrior).

A press release from Eros International states that Rana will have Rajinikanth in triple role , to be directed by K S. Ravikumar and music by AR Rahman.

The film will start rolling from March and will be released in 2012 in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu. Ratnavalu will be the cinematographer, Antony will be the editor, art direction is by Rajeevan and technical & special effects director will be Soundarya Rajnikanth and Charles Darby of Eyeqube Studios.

Mr.Sunil Lulla, Managing Director, Eros International Media Ltd says: "We are extremely excited to join hands with Tamil industry's most popular super star Rajinikanth for Rana and this time audiences will be treated with their favourite actor donning a triple role in the film. Rana is going to be far different from any of the recent Rajini films, a complete live action magnum opus with loads of entertainment for his fans".

Ms.Soundarya Rajinikanth, Director of Ocher Studios Private Limited adds: "We are very pleased to announce this partnership with Eros International for Rana. There are doubts in Kollywood that ‘Rana’, the trilingual announced by Superstar Rajinikanth on Friday, is nothing but the revival of ‘Sultan the Warrior’, the top actor’s first animation film.

“Since the film involves huge budget and requires more live scenes, it has now been given the avatar of a feature film in association with Eros International,” a section of Kollywood pundits felt.

However, those close to Ocher Studios, the production house run by Soundarya Rajinikanth which would produce ‘Rana’ along with Eros International, were quick to deny this claim.

“This is a fresh script to be directed by K S Ravikumar. To be produced on a huge budget, the movie will be simultaneously made in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. A popular heroine will be paired opposite the Superstar,” they say.

KSR is best known for his touch up works. He worked on the incomplete Varalaaru footages and ended up giving a blockbuster. He wud do the same with Sultan/Hara/Rana too..

Rajni to team up with Shankar again?

Looks like our Superstar Rajinikanth is on a signing spree. Sources close to the actor reveal that after completing Rana, Rajni is likely to team up with director Shankar again for the third time. The proposed project will be produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin under his home banner Red Giants Movies.

Meanwhile, Rajni's Rana is likely to go on floors in March and Bollywood sensation Deepika Padukone will be the heroine. Rajni will be seen in a triple role and A.R. Rahman will compose music for this magnum opus. The cinematographer would be Ratnavelu and the special effects will be handled by Rajni’s daughter Soundarya. Rana will be made simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

Rajini's next after 'Rana'

There is some more action on the Super Star front. Just a few days after his 'Rana' was announced we have started hearing about his next film.

According to our sources, Rajini will join hands with Shankar again after completing ‘Rana’. Interestingly the current projects of the actor and the director are starting almost at the same time. If Shankar has just begun his 3-Idiots 'Nanban', the super star film would start rolling from March.

The Rajini-Shankar combination film will be produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin and the official announcement is expected soon after the state assembly election gets over in May.

Meanwhile the Bollywood sensation Deepika Padukone is keeping her diary free for ‘Rana’. She is even said to have opted out of a film with Akshay Kumar to accommodate 'Rana' it comes to her finally.

Rajini’s Rana inspired by Dasavatharam

Nobody would forget the ten characters played by Kamal Haasan in his magnum opus Dasavatharam. The Kamal-KS Ravi Kumar duo combination broke all the records at the box office, before the Rajini-starrer Enthiran hit the theatres.

Now Kollywood is abuzz that Rajini’s Rana, which is to be directed by KS Ravikumar, has drawn inspiration from Dasavatharam. According to a source, during the discussion about the ten roles and their unique characterization, Kamal and KSR created the best 13 characters and out of 13 they had picked 10 characters suitable for the movie.

The left out 3 characters are said to be the role played by the Rajini in the movie Rana. KSR is very close to both Rajini and Kamal and it is said that this is one more example of their friendship.

Rajinikanth's Rana clarifications

Finally, producer Soundarya Rajinikanth and director KS Ravikumar were forced to hold a press conference, to make clarifications about their Rana.

Daily rumours were making the rounds about Rekha demanding Rs 4 Crore, Vidya Balan, Madhuri Dixit and so many others approached for the film.

At a joint press conference attended by Soundarya and Ravikumar, things were made clear.

Said Ravikumar: " First and foremost, I would like to make it clear that Rana is not a new avatar of Sultan The Warrior. Both are different films, Rana is set in the 17th century, and the story plot is Rajinikanth's."

Ravikumar also made it clear that Rekha, Hema Malini, Vidya Balan, Madhuri Dixit, Ileana, Trisha and Asin, who were touted to be part of the project have never been approached. Said Ravikumar: “ “I just don’t understand how these rumours start.

As of now, only Deepika Padukone has been signed. Rajinikanth has three get up's and there are many other characters in the film. We are fine tuning the script and will start shoot only April end."

Rana is a big budget movie that will cost Rs 100 Crore plus and is produced by Eros International, AR Rahman is the music director with Ratnavel as the cameraman.

A R Rahman, is a busy bee these days working in a handfull of movies. It includes a biggie - Superstar Rajinikanth’s Rana.

Buzz is that rahman has completed two songs, which have impressed Rajini and director K S Ravikumar a lot.

According to sources, the Oscar-Grammy winner is now busy tuning the rest of the songs for the mega venture, which would have Rajini playing a triple role, including that of an emperor.

'The two songs composed by Rahman have all the qualities to become chartbusters. They will be shot on lavish sets and beautiful locations soon. Shooting of Rana will start later this month,' sources further say.

Rana will have Deepika Padukone as heroine. Story is by the Superstar himself.

Rajinikanth Raana shooting will restart in October

Chennai, July 30 (TruthDive): Usually Film directors may have to wait for A.R. Rahman to compose music to complete the schedules. But for Super Star Rajinikanth’s Raana four songs are ready for shooting. The first schedule of Raana shooting was a song sequence already started in April. But Rajinikanth health put a break in the schedules.

After undergoing treatment in Singapore Rajini returned this month. He is taking rest. The Director K.S
Ravi kumar has already observed that Rajinikanth is no more a patient. This time the shooting will go uninterrupted for 100 days. A mammoth set resembling a great ship is being built at Ramoji Rao studio in Hyderabad for Raana’s next schedule.

The other artists may not oppose rescheduling their commitments although they are busy in other languages.Deepika Padukone has declared that it is her duty to adjust dates for her reschedule.

There are reports that Rajini is looking for Prakash raj to join the Raana team. Praksh Raj a talented artist is not getting chances due to change in trends of Tamil screen.The acting of Prakash Raj is now considered stereo typed and his body language and delivery of words are boring.

Another person who is expected to be given a revival in Raana is comedy actor Vadivel. He has been in undeclared ban after his campaign for DMK in the recent elections.

Meanwhile a rumor spread in the industry that the title of the film may be changed which is denied by Ravi Kumar. The Poes Garden house of Rajinikanth has been altered for Vastu to chase the evils which caused ill health to Rajini. Now the sentimental opinion on the title of the film to be the cause for Rajini’s troubles need not be addressed.

Ultimately it is the Rajinkanth’s film. Whichever may be the title and whoever may be the heroine the film is bound to run successfully for Rajinkanth only.
