Mynaa - Pleases the senses
IndiaGlitz [Monday, November 01, 2010]

‘Mynaa’ is a forthcoming film produced by Shalom Studios that is in the news for good reasons. It has already moved the industry biggies like Kamal Haasan who said at the audio launch that he is happy to see Tamil cinema growing with films like ‘Mynaa’.

‘Mynaa’ is the love story of two young people who live in a tribal area and problems they encounter. Prabhu Solomon who directed films Kokki, Lee and Laadam has also directed this off beat movie.

The film stars new comers Vidharth of ‘Koothu Pattarai’ and Anaka of ‘Sindhu Samaveli’ fame in the lead roles.

Music is by D. Imman. Yugabharathi has written the lyrics. The audio of ‘Mynaa’ was launched by ‘Ulaga Nayagan’ Kamal Haasan on September 23 at Sathyam Cinemas.

The story is an off beat story and Imman had contradicted his reputation so far and has given very delightful thematic songs in ‘Mynaa’.

1. Mynaa Mynaa - Listen here

Singer: Shaan

Lyricist: Yugabharathi

The title tracks flows smoothly and rises in the second half. As a tribal love song the tune may sound often heard but the rhythmic movements save the song. The sudden tempo rise in the second half is the finest aspect of this song. Shaan is a good singer but he sings ‘manala viricha kayira’ instead of ‘manala thiricha kayira’ in one place. The support instrumentation says Imman is melodic for a change. A

2. Kichu Kichu Thaambulam - Listen here

Singers: Baby Harini, Solar Sai

Lyricist: Yugabharathi

Children talk childhood fantasy mischief in this song. A basic arrangement lets the story be told through. The children chorus is playfully peppy. The rise and fall of the vocals is clearly audible with instruments backing rightly. A bit of Rajasthani folk is also mixed. Instruments like shenai and kamayacha gives a distinct rural feel. The closing bit is also notable.

3. Neeyum Naanum - Listen here

Singers: Benny Dayal, Shreya Ghoshal

Lyricist: Eknaath

Mischievously attractive opening tell you what’s inside. The romantic voices of Benny Dayal, Shreya Ghoshal have an enjoyable attitude in this song. Imman makes normal instruments sound big and different.

4. Jingu Chikka - Listen here

Singers: Solar Sai, Kalpana

Lyricist: Yugabharathi

Jingu Chikka is a gana kuthu with strong vocals. The very mischievous and rhythmic lyric borders vulgarity and may not be for family listening.

5. Kaiya Pudi - Listen here

Singers: Naresh Iyer, Sadhana Sargam

Lyricist: Yugabharathi

Pick of the pack! In this song there is good music, there is melody and there is harmony. Assorted rhythm and varied melodies together is a winning combo in this number. The orchestration is robust and the tune is memorable. Nicely lifted by the voices of Naresh Iyer, Sadhana Sargam.

On the whole as said earlier D. Imman has come out with songs which stand out. Given the jungle journey and tribal love as the plot, all the songs have that forest essence. Mood is what makes a song become popular and most songs in ‘Mynaa’ are filled with a mood. If at all there is one thing which could have been handled better, that would be making the make singers sing with more feel of the dark soil. Although they are all great singers the male singers do sound a bit posh.

Otherwise a welcome album from D. Imman and this should take him to the next league above.

Review by : Malathy Sundaram

Music Director : G.V.Prakash Kumar

Vocals : G.V.Prakash Kumar, Gana Ulaganathan, Andrea Jeremiah,
Bhargavi, Lakshmikanth.

Lyrics : Kumararaja, Shiva, R.Amarendran
Produced by S.Shashikanth and directed by Pushkar & Gayathri, this film stars Shiva, SPB Charan and Lekha Washington in lead roles supported by Abhinayasree, John Vijay, Craig, Kalyan and others. The accent seems to be on comedy here. G.V.Prakash Kumar scores the music.

Unnai Kann Theduthe...
Vocals: G.V.Prakash Kumar, Gana Ulaganathan
Lyrics : Kumararaja

A song of happy inebriation. Gently touching on the raga Vakulabaranam, the slow tempo of the song heightens the ‘spaced-out’ effect. Amusing to listen to!

Thediye Thediye...
Vocals: Andrea Jeremiah
Lyrics : Kumararaja
VA Quarter Cutting

Slightly wacky lyrics, but a jaunty Sankarabaranam mettu and neat strings make this a cheery number.

Saudi Basha...
Vocals: G.V.Prakash Kumar, Bhargavi
Lyrics : Shiva, R.Amarendran

Another lighthearted number on the Kiravani raga scale that vaguely reminds you of the Kishore Kumar hit’Zindagi Ek Safar hey Suhanaa’. Mad and rollicking, this song could find a place on the charts.

Saarpu Saarpu Ji...
Vocals: G.V.Prakash Kumar, Lakshmikanth
Lyrics : Kumararaja

It is entirely up to you to make what you can out of these lyrics! But an addictive arrangement of notes on the Natabairavi scale and the teasing accompaniment of nagaswaram and guitars make you want to listen to it shamelessly once again.

The Quarter Song...
Clubmix: Remix by Vijay Chawla

Tight and tingling, this song does get a tad monotonous towards the end.

Verdict:

There’s no way this album can ever be taken seriously. Prakash Kumar’s experimental side comes to the fore in the musical expression. Quite frivolous and wacky, some will just adore it outright, while some will take time getting used to it. But three cheers to GVP, Gayathri & Pushkar for trying something different.

Tha - You can give it a try
IndiaGlitz [Monday, September 27, 2010]

Shreya Films ‘Tha’ is an upcoming film which launches many a new faces in all major departments. It is Produced Rajesh Uthaman and directed by debutant director RK Surya Prabhakar who apprenticed under Samuthirakani. The lead pair Sri Hari, Benito and Nisha from Mumbai are also debutants.

The film is also first for music director Sri Vijay from Sri Lanka and lyricist RK Surya Prabakar.

‘Tha’ is a love story set in the dry lands of Coimbatore. The one liner about the film is this. “The one who bashes up ten is not a complete man. But the one who is liked by a woman.” “It is about a violent man whose heart undergoes a sea change after falling in love” says the director.

The audio of ‘Tha’ was launched in a simple function at Sathyam Cinemas recently. Actor Karthi released the audio and it was received by Samuthirakani.

The debutante music director has shown promise.

1. Yedho Oru Eakkamo - Listen here

Singers: Jeya Ragavan, Sowmya, Swathi

Lyricist: RK. Surya Prabakar

A joyous countryside love song with country imageries. The interludes are off beat. Not many instruments used in song except ‘parai’ drum which suggests the feel pretty well. Minor strings and violin combined with humming in interludes gives a very pleasing village touch. Lyricist is also noted in word like ‘Odambu mulusum Analaachu Manasula mattum mazhaiyachu’. A polite opening to the album.

2. Haiyo Haiyo - Listen here

Singer: Sri Vijay

Lyricist: RK. Surya Prabakar

Slow melody but very foot tapping tempo. The music and of this song sounds familiar yet refreshing too. Free flowing rhythms. Longing love captured well. The Violins we hear after a while is we wanted.

3. Ennai Thottu Puttaa - Listen here

Singer: Jeya Ragavan

Lyricist: RK. Surya Prabakar

This song is only carried by the voice of Jeya Ragavan. With low instrumentation the lyric has taken the upper hand in this song. No big trials in rhythms. The purpose and feel is similar to the first song. The flute is cajoling.

4. Emaai Thiranthen - Listen here

Singers: Sri Vijay, Kanthini Kishon

Lyricist: RK. Surya Prapbakar

The only pure duet in the album. Starts very romantically and holds on till the end. Predictable melody and likeable though. A folksy romance that is felt in heart.

5. Thalaikku Melea Ullagam - Listen here

Singers: James, Harish, Ashvin, Mahalingam, Akshaya

Lyricist: RK. Surya Prabakar

What is a Tamil movie today without a dapankuthu. This is it. A drunken man taking on things his style. Neat beats and disciplined arrangement make this passable.

6. Koottathile Vandhu - Listen here

Singers: Kumar, Mahalingam

Sounds a situational song. In the villupattu genre, the song is talking to society laced with some messages. The gradual rise in the tempo is pulsating. Simple naatupuram number.

Considering the fact that all the people associated with the music of this film are first timers you can give it to them. Music director Sri Vijay is a Sri Lankan and the odour is there. The instruments function as accompaniments telling the new musician has taken a traditional route in his first film.

Gouravargal - Curate's Egg
IndiaGlitz [Tuesday, October 19, 2010]

Director Sanjay Ram has made it as his signature style to dwell on the underworld and its dark shades. This time too in 'Gowravargal', he touches a similar theme in the company of Sathyaraj and Vignesh. What begins as an interesting fare slowly loses steam to be a clichéd affair.

Seemingly influenced a lot by 'Nayagan' and 'Thalapathy', Sanjay Ram has woven the story around a do-gooder, a role played by Saythyaraj. As Thondaman, he makes one remember the Velu Bhai of 'Nayagan'.

Vignesh who joins him as his assistant is ready to sacrifice everything for his master, like the evergreen Suriya role played by Rajinikanth in 'Thalapathy'. The movie boasts of a huge star cast that includes Monica, Yuvarani, Azhagan Thamizhmani, Bhanuchander, Ranjith and Alex among others.

Unfortunately there is nothing new in the script which is centered on Vignesh in the first half, while Sathyaraj takes the centre stage in the latter part. Most of the scenes are predictable, clichéd and romance stuffed that fails to strike a chord with the viewer. The baddies in the movie speak from the belly and punctuate their dialogues with a laugh that is tacky and artificial.

Ganesan (Vignesh), is an irresponsible youth in a village. He promises his mother (Kuyili) that he would be good and start earning. He joins a job where he bashes few wrong-doers. This impresses a do-gooder and a don Thondaman (Sathyaraj). He urges him to join him for work.

Thondaman is respected a lot for he provides justice to people in his own way. People in case of crisis approach him and not the police. Ganesan impressed by Thondaman's ways, develops an affinity with him and even decides to gives his life for him.

Meanwhile Ganesan falls in love with one Poonkodi (Monica). Turn of events leaves a local Minister's son going crazy behind her. Enters a police officer (Ranjith) who plays spoilsport in their romance. He threatens Thondaman and hatches a conspiracy to ensure that Thondaman and Ganesan part ways. But things happen otherwise.

It's a role that actors like Vignesh had played many times before. He is good in action, but lacuna is his dialogue delivery. Monica appears in a couple of songs including one hot number. Sathyaraj shoulders a major burden while Ranjith, Bhanuchander play baddies.

Dhina's music is loud and editor Riyaz is apparently caught napping in the second half. Leo's camera is good however. The lens has captured the stunts, chase and the rest in bright colour. On the whole, Sanjay Ram has conceived a convincing script, but seems to have lost out on the execution part.

Naane Ennul Illai - Mom and I
IndiaGlitz [Monday, October 18, 2010]

Veteran actress Jayachitra has taken up the mantle of making a movie that showcases the multiple talents of her son Amaresh Ganesh.

In his debut venture, Amaresh has not just played the lead role but composed music for six songs besides writing lyrics for a couple of numbers. The confident mom has ensured all is centered on Amaresh in a script that has no logic or magic.

While Amaresh plays a youth who strives to make a mark for him in the society, Arya Menon is the heroine and Raghav dons the role of a baddie. Nasser, Saranya, Radha Ravi, Kuyili, Lavanya form part of the cast with guest appearance by directors P Vasu and K S Ravikumar.

Amaresh (Amaresh Ganesh), a student in a Chennai college, loves his classmate Ishwarya (Arya Menon), who’s mother (Kuyili) wants her become an actress. There is one Ranjith (Raghav) who has an eye on Ishwarya.

This leads to enmity between Amaresh and him. Amaresh's father Vasu (Nasser) often chides his son for being callous and irresponsible in life. In the meantime, Ishvarya becomes a heroine in Tamil cinema and soon Amaresh too gets a chance from director P Vasu to act as hero in his film.

But Ranjith ensures that his dream is short-lived. However determined to succeed, Amaresh ends up becoming an actor. Soon he wins accolades from all quarters and even a National award for best actor

There are scenes where Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, director K Balachander appear to make some lengthy speeches about Amaresh. Finally, Amaresh teaches Ranjith a lesson and wins the love of his father. He also ends up marrying Ishwarya.

Amaresh reminds one of Silambarasan at many places. Arya Menon is artificial in the role while Raghav is tacky. Nasser, P Vasu and Ravikumar are the ones who lend some solidity. Saranya in mother's role is convincing.

There are enough clichéd sequences that may drive one to boredom. At many places the film proceeds at snail's pace. Adding to the suffering is a lengthy climax. Had more scenes be trimmed and characters tried their best to perform, the movie could have been a different one.

Review by : Malathy Sundaram

Music Director : Siddharth

Vocals : Karthik, Sumesh Babu, Saranya Easwaran, Malgudi Shubha, Arun Prabhakar, Harish Kumar, Siddharth, Prasanna, Chinmayee, Ceylon Jegani

Lyrics : Na.Muthukumar, Bharathkumar, Yugabharathi, Snehan, Manikai
Produced by Arumaichandran of Singapore, and directed by Manigai, this film has a new music director Siddharth from Mumbai. We have Nandha (‘Pugaippadam’ fame) Shaan (Inidhu Inidhu) and newcomer Yashica from Bangalore, Nizhalgal Ravi, Srinath and others starring in this romantic flick.

Vaada Poda...
Vocals: Karthik
Lyrics: Na.Muthukumar

Just when you brace yourself for some aggressive sounds from guitars, this song surprises you with its underplayed ‘rock’ effect. A neat song on a simple Natabairavi raga scale, this could find a place on ‘Friendship Day’ requests.

En Nenjile...
Vocals: Sumesh Babu, Saranya Easwaran
Lyrics: Bharathkumar
Murattukalai

Built on a simple Karaharapriya scale (reminds you a tad of ‘June Ponaal’) this dreamy duet is differently structured in terms of percussive arrangements. Very soft charanams with only keyboard and violins make for easy listening.

2. Piranthom...
Vocals: Malgudi Shubha
Lyrics: Na.Muthukumar

A rather severe arrangement of Shanmukapriya raga notes, it does impart the right kind of mood to this song which hovers between sorrow and hope. Brooding notes from the flute and strings add small sparkles here. Could make it to the charts if filmed well.

Nadanthal...
Vocals: Arun Prabhakar, Harish Kumar, Siddharth
Lyrics: Manikai

Though there is nothing that makes this song stand out from many such others doing the rounds, the cheery rap bit adds a bit of ‘dum’ to it.

Nammai Thaandi...
Vocals: Prasanna, Chinmayee
Lyrics: Yugabharathi

Oh well, Oh well, Anandabairavi raga in a ‘jeans clad’ avatar here! Quite a natty number where the deft use of ‘ga’ and ‘ma’ swaras give it a sharp western touch. With alternating low and high notes that describe the tumbling emotions, this song flits around like a butterfly. Interesting percussive arrangement too. Sure to hit the charts

Chennapattanathule...
Vocals: Ceylon Jegani
Lyrics: Snehan

The breezy prelude is a sure indication of what is to follow- a desi titillation number in a folksy style. Can be relished for its amusing use of the Chalanata raga here.

Piranthom...
Theme song

Instrumental: Aah, here we are able to savour the raga better with the violins and flute. More live instruments could have enriched it.

Verdict:

Though the limited number of orchestral instruments gives this album a slightly stiff and edgy feel, some really ordered thinking has gone into framing the songs. Certainly an album to listen and ponder over. Wish the film is equally tightly knit.

2. MURATTUKALAI MUSIC REVIEW

Review by : Malathy Sundaram

Music Director : Srikanth Deva

Vocals : Naveen, Hariharan, Shravya, Simbhu, Anuradha Sriram, Surmukhi, Malathi

Lyrics : K.Selvabarathy

Produced by Gunanidhi Amirtham and directed by K.Selvabarathy, this film stars Sundar.C., Sneha, Suman, Sindhu Tolani, Vivek and others. Srikant Deva scores the music.

Podhuvaga...
Vocals: Naveen

A neat reproduction of the old and delightful Natabairavi raga hit from the film of the same name. Naveen gives it his all, but you can’t help wondering if the slight quickening of the tempo robs it of its former mood of ‘innocent daring’. Could hover on the charts.

Punnagai...
Vocals: Hariharan, Shravya

An easy Karahapriya mettu where the interludes score over the song, funnily. May make a cursory visit to the charts based on this.

Sundara...
Vocals: Simbhu, Anuradha Sriram

Murattukalai

A rather ‘eyebrow-arching’ adaptation of the old Aberi raga hit ‘Aayiram Nilave Vaa’. What gives it a passable listen is the ‘Chandrababu’ like interludes and some enthusiastic singing. Hmm!

Dhavani...
Vocals: Surmukhi

Such bell-like clear articulation here. Is there so much to eulogise in a piece of ‘dhavani’? Anyway a liberal use of harp and flute add melodic value to this song, which could hit the charts.

Bhonda...
Vocals: Malathi

A ‘desi’ item number, this one. Malathi’s vocal prowess amuses, as usual. Needless to say, the nagaswaram and thavil bits alone contribute some interest value to this number.

Verdict:

Well, at least one cannot accuse Srikant Deva of any originality as far as this album is concerned! So many songs float into our minds as we listen. One certainly wishes he had put in better work, which he is capable of, going by ‘Marupadiyum oru Kadhal’.

3. AAYIRAM VILAKKU MUSIC REVIEW

Review by : Malathy Sundaram

Music Director : Srikanth Deva

Vocals : Naveen, Velmurugan, Harish Raghavendra, Chinmayee, K.J.Yesudas, Karthik, Rita.Karthik

Lyrics : Vairamuthu.

Produced by HMi Pictures and directed by S.P.Hosimin, this film stars Satyaraj, Shantanoo, Sana Khan, Delhi Ganesh, Suman and others. Srikant Deva scores the music and all lyrics are by Vairamuthu.

Madura Madura...
Vocals: Naveen, Velmurugan

A song that takes you around the throbbing city that Madurai is. Energetic beats and lively nagaswaram add the right life to the song. But nothing special.

Radhiyae...
Vocals: Harish Raghavendra, Chinmayee

Harish, after such a long time! This is a nice number but reminds you of a yesteryear Hindi hit and an old Tamil hit. The violins and mouth organ hold up the song somewhat. Harish is as pleasant as ever.

Enna Thavam...
Vocals: K.J.Yesudas
Aayiram Vilakku

The song of an emotional father, who rediscovers the world through his son and who better than Yesudas to bring it alive? Deft notes from the flute and santoor add softness to this song which appears to be in Aberi raga.

Jigardanda...
Vocals: Karthik, Rita

What an impressive show of lung power by Karthik! He alone makes this song come alive in a sweet way. The raga scale appears to be Harikamboji and the playful use of trumpets and nagaswaram bring a smile to your lips. Could hit the charts for its liveliness.

Utthama Putthirane...
Vocals: K.J.Yesudas

Hmmm, a soft pensive number, sung just as well by Yesudas. Brings out mild pathos

Poraale...
Vocals: Karthik

Well, this short number has more of music than vocals. The flute is melodious.

Andipatti...
Vocals: Karthik

This song is somewhat similar to song no.1 in its attitude. Trumpets and mandolin try to hold your interest but your mind wanders.

Verdict:

Good use of live percussive instruments and flute characterize this album, which tries to be slightly different from routine Srikant Deva stuff. It does succeed in parts.

4. MAGIZHCHI MUSIC REVIEW

Review by : Malathy Sundaram

Music Director : Vidyasagar

Vocals : Chandrayi, Karthik, Manikkavinayagam, Velmurugan, Karunanidhi,

Tirutthani, Gopal Rao, Rajalakshmi, Chitra, Roshini, Madhu Balakrishnan, Binny Krishnakumar

Lyrics : Vairamuthu, Tirutthani, Vaiyampatti Muthusamy, Arivumathi, Pachiyappan

Produced by ‘Athirvu Thiraippattarai’ Manivannan and directed by Gowthaman, this movie, based on Neela. Padmanabhan’s literary work ‘Thalaimuraigal’ is eagerly awaited, because of its weighty story value. It has Gowthaman, Anjali, Seeman, Santhanam, Ganja Karuppu and others starring in it. Vidyasagar scores the music for the film and the album lists six tracks.

Ootthu Thanni Aatthoda...
Vocals: Karthik, Chandrayi
Lyrics: Vairamuthu

A neat folksy number on the Natabairavi scale with pleasing violins, so typical of this melody-maker. Could make it to the charts on the strength of its sultry lyrics.

Thaekku Maramaattam...
Vocals:Manikkavinayagam,Velmurugan, Karunanidhi, Tirutthani
Lyrics: Tirutthani, Vaiyampatti Muthusamy

Another fast paced folk number with some heady drum work. The lyrics are amusing, really. Clear rendering of words from the singers.
Magizhchi

Ucchukkotta Icchu Vacchu...
Vocals: Gopal Rao, Rajalakshmi
Lyrics: Arivumathi

A delightful number in the Karaharapriya raga scale and Tisra Nadai, where the flute darts into a bit of Hemavathi and Kanada notes, though fleetingly. This sweet duet has been well sung too. The second interlude on the strings with a western touch is very nice.

Selai Kattiya...
Vocals: Karthik, Chitra, Roshini
Lyrics: Vairamuthu

This is a song of blessing and benediction, interlaced with brother-sister sentiments. Energetic use of thavil, ghatam and native drums add a festive feeling to the song. Karthik brings a rare sowkyam to this number with his voice. The song seems to swing between Anandabairavi and Mohanam ragas.

Kanne Kaniyurangu...
Vocals: Madhu Balakrishnan, Binny Krishnakumar
Lyrics: Pachiyappan

A lullaby, this song. My, what a voice this lady has! Her effortless high-pitched notes lend this song a mild poignancy as do the rare ‘prayogas’ of Harikamboji raga notes used here. Madhu Balakrishnan comes on only at the end.

Koorappattu...
Vocals: Karthik
Lyrics: Pachiyappan

A bit of a dirge, this number. Probably serves to underline sorrow.

Verdict:

Vidyasagar strictly adheres to the theme and tone of this rural story. But he also weaves in his creativity here and there. High on ‘native touch’, this album surprisingly dips a little where melody is concerned. Let us see how they shine in the movie.

Kanimozhi - You'll get younger after listening
IndiaGlitz [Monday, August 02, 2010]

‘Kanimozhi’ is a love story produced by actress Sona’s UNIQ Creations in association with T Siva of Amma Creations.

The film is directed by debutant Sripathy a former associate of Venkat Prabhu. Jai and Vijay Vasanth of ‘Chennai 600028’ fame have performed the lead roles while newcomer Shazahn Padamsee plays the heroine. Shazahn is from Bollywood, She was last seen opposite Ranbir Kapoor in the film ‘Rocket Singh’.

Music of the film is by Satish Chakravarthy who was an assistant of AR Rahman. ‘Kanimozhi’ album consists of 4 straight songs and one instrumental version. Three songs are written by Na. Muthukumar and one is written by Pa. Vijay.

‘Kanimozhi’ music album was launched on July 22 by Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi.

1. Penne Pogathey - Listen here

Singers: Clinton Cerejo, Sam Keerthan, Timothy Madhukar

Lyricist: Pa. Vijay

“Penne Pogathey” sound a teen pop with a lot of Yuvan feel in it. Clinton voice is credible in this yuppie song sung by the hero after he has seen the heroine for the first time. Lavish guitar flows throughout reminding bubblegum pops. The purpose of having this song is achieved.

2. Muzhumadhi - Listen here

Singers: Vijay Yesudas, Bela Shende

Lyricist: Na. Muthukumar

“Muzhumadhi” is a soft melody delicately paced so well to follow and be with. The interlude bits are great with a clean mix of instruments. Particularly the flute in the second. Na. Muthukumar’s metaphors make this number a wholesome love duet. Vijay Yesudas and Bela Shende are excellent in this. Pick of the pack.

3. Yaaro Ival Ival - Listen here

Singers: Mukesh, Bela Shende

Lyricist: Na. Muthukumar

“Yaaro Ival Ival” Is a real cheerful number with hearty drums. The tempo rocks you thorough out the song. Shenai interludes give a divine status to this love song. Again Bele Shende excels this time with Mukesh. The simple words of Muthukumar and the pulsating rhythm combined with beautiful vocals makes this song memorable. Very impressive you can fall in love. Another Pick of the pack.

4. Thada Thada - Listen here

Singer: Clinton Cerejo, Satish Chakravarthy

Lyricist: Na. Muthukumar

“Thada Thada” is as pleasing as a 80’s Illayaraja lovelorn melody. Minimal rhythmic notes taken to top by the vocals. Interludes are pleasingly different with assortment. Strings and veena one time and a neat slow rap the other time. Nice.

5. Muzhumadhi - Listen here

Instrumental

A delightful instrumental interpretation of ‘Muzhumadhi’ song. Piano and flute ably conducted by drums. As good as the original.

When you finish hearing all the songs of this album you feel you’ve become few years younger and more positive. The album is definitely worth its money. All the songs are fitting to a romance, particularly the songs Muzhumadhi and Yaaro Ival Ival are O… HO. Satish Chakravarthy who debuted with a dull ‘Leelai’ has come back very strongly but notably influenced by Yuvan.

Now the only concern is the visuals and picturisation of these songs match the creativity and inherent sweetness of the songs.

Review by : C. Karthik

Music Director : Harris Jayaraj

Vocals : Aalaap Raju, Naresh Iyer, Mahathi, Gopal Rao. Richard,
Karthik, Prashanthini, Emcee Jesz, Kash n’ Krissy, Raninia Reddy, Harish Raghavendra, Chinmayi.

Lyrics : Thamarai, Vaali, Emcee Jesz, Kash, Madhan Karky, Na. Muthukumar.

Engeyum Kadhal, earlier titled 'Ich', has been in the news for quite a while. With Prabhu Deva calling the shots, Jayam Ravi and Hansika Motwani have acted in lead roles. Produced by AGS entertainment, Harris Jayaraj returns to the

Engeyum Kadhal

marquee after a hiatus in Tamil in Engeyum Kadhal. The audio of the movie is out and let us see what this album has in store.

Engeyum Kadhal…

Vocals: Aalaap Raju

Lyrics: Thamarai

Is there a romantic movie without melodies? The album starts well with Aalaap Raju's lovely rendition of Engeyum Kadhal. Thamarai's lyrics add charm to this brilliant number. Close your eyes and imagine a frosty afternoon in Paris and you would not want to open your eyes till the song ends. The western influence in the middle is very typical of Harris' earlier albums. Simple arrangements comparing Harris' standards but it surely works. Do you want to press the rewind button?

Thee Illai…

Vocals: Naresh Iyer, Mahathi, Gopal Rao

Lyrics: Vaali

This one is for the broken hearted. If you think this will be moody and blue, Harris surprises us with something different. Vaali is at his best with verses like "Thee illai Pugai illai ... oru Velvi seigirai vizhiyile", "Nool Illai thari illai... oru Kaadhal neigirai manadhile" and "Ennai unnidam izhakiren...irunthum illaiyai irukiren....". Harris strives to be different but the interluding music and the chorus does not substitute well. Naresh and Mahathi give life to the song and though it does not appeal instantaneously, it will catch you like fire.

Nangaai…

Vocals: Richard

Lyrics: Vaali

Richard screams out 'Valliye Chakkaravalliye' at the start of this song. Just when you think we are going to listen to something different, Harris turns to Michael Jackson for inspiration. Heavily loaded and typically western, Nangaai defies the meaning of the word with the kind of arrangements used. The song falls flat in the middle where there is a brief desi (read kuthu) influence. With lots of energy, this song will be liked by a section of people. This one may spring a surprise!

Lolita…

Vocals: Karthik, Prashanthini

Lyrics: Thamarai

Karthik begins well in this song but it is hard not to think of Harris' earlier compositions. With synthesised voices, the lyrics seem to drown under the music a bit. There is nothing special about this romantic number other than Thamarai's catchy lyrics. Steel drums and sounds of saxophone add value towards the end but the song is only an addition to the album. A regular Harris' number!

Bathing at Cannes…

Vocals: Emcee Jesz, Kash n’ Krissy, Raninia Reddy

Lyrics: Emcee Jesz, Kash

Kash n' Krissy return to Engeyum Kadhal after breaking Endhiran's heart. Bathing at Cannes reminds of many English pop songs. A short song with overwhelming English lyrics, it is hard to categorize this one. It leaves a feeling that it is a slow-mo version of a latest hit song. Does not appeal as much!

Nenjil Nenjil…

Vocals: Harish Raghavendra, Chinmayi

Lyrics: Madan Karky

Has the Harris-Harish team ever disappointed us? Here, Harish has the brilliant Chinmayi for company too! With 'mirudangam' and chimes in the background, this song is a definite entry into the charts. Madan Karky's lyrics add a different dimension to the existing romance. Nenjil Nenjil is mesmerizing and is a must-listen!

Dhimu Dhimu…

Vocals: Karthik

Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

Fantastic guitar strums invite you to Dhimu Dhimu. Karthik's voice and the path the song travels later follows a routine but is listen-worthy, Harris takes his time in getting you involved in this song. Though it subdues in certain points, Karthik picks up the pace and does keep us engaged. A good end to a romantic album!

Verdict:

Overall, Engeyum Kadhal is a breezy, romantic album with a few different sounds and percussions. A few songs bear the typical Harris Jayaraj stamp and the rest are ready to stay in the Top 10 list for a while. We feel that Harris wanted to play it safe, devoid of any experiments, though Bathing in Cannes could appeal as a new genre in Tamil music. The album will definitely appeal to the masses and once the videos go on air, it is certain to make more people inquisitive!

Review by : C. Karthik

Music Director : GV Prakash Kumar

Vocals : GV Prakash Kumar, Velmurugan, Yogi B, Kay Kay, SP Balasubramaniam, SP Charan, Prashanthini, Yogi B, Navin Iyer.

Lyrics : Snehan, Yegathasi, Yugabharathi, VIS Jayapalan, Yogi B.

Just as we are coming out of the Uthama Puthiran fever, Dhanush is here to strike again with Aaduklam. Teaming with his good friend Vetrimaran, Dhanush has Tapasee Pannu as the heroine in the movie. Produced by Kathiresan, Aadukalam will be released under the Sun Pictures banner. GV Prakash is back with the Polladhavan 'kootani'. We will see what he has in store for us.
Aadukalam

Yathe Yathe...
Vocals: GV Prakash Kumar
Lyrics: Snehan

Just a few seconds into the song and GV Prakash spreads his infectious energy to us too. You can sense he is at ease singing this song. Though it is an ‘I-have-fallen-in-love’ song, we dare not call it typical. There are so many layers of sound used here and the flutes and violins in the slow-paced sections are a treat to listen to. The joyous nature is evident throughout. This one is a sure chartbuster. Replay?

Otha Sollaala...
Vocals: Velmurugan
Lyrics: Yegathasi

The mood passes onto a kuthu number. Though the base of the song is the usual beat that we have already heard, GV tries to experiment with new sounds that have not been used in a song of this nature before. It his high on pep for sure but never gets overboard, thanks to GV. Velmurugun has a casual yet different voice and it adds some value to the folksy number. It has the potential to be a crowd favourite!

Porkkalam Tamil-Rap...
Vocals: Yogi B
Lyrics: Yugabharathi

We are introduced to the Aadukalam now: The essence of the movie. The entry into the field is intriguing until Yogi B's opens up furiously to give us an essence of the Aadukalam environment. Yogi B has done it before but it takes a few listens to understand the Tamil lyrics. Yugabharathi's lyrics about competing and the way to win are good. 'Poradinal naam vellalam... vaan veethiyil kaal vekkalam' is a testimony. May sound alien to people who are new to this 'Tamil-Rap' culture.

The English-Rap, with lyrics from Yogi B himself, sounds a proper song than the Tamil version. Yogi B voice gives the song a 'rock' feeling but a subdued back beat suggests otherwise. It is again an interesting listen and may feature on air frequently.

En Vennilave...
Vocals: Kay Kay
Lyrics: VIS Jayapalan

The sudden swing of emotion is a little too much to handle with Kay Kay taking charge in En Vennilave. This one could have been placed better in the album. Very basic sound arrangement and chorus used, but Kay Kay's voice is so soulful that he engages you nonetheless. We just feel it is a touch too poignant at a certain point. A worthy listen just for the fantastic Kay Kay.

Ayyayo...
Vocals: SP Balasubramanian, SP Charan & Prashanthini
Lyrics: Snehan

Prashanthini's breezy introduction paves way for the father and son combination. You immediately have a smile on your face once they take over. With very minimal beats, GV allows both the singers do the talking... ahm singing. We travel back a couple of decades as the song makes you desirous about yesteryear melodies. The tempo remains the same till the end as neither the dad nor the son take backseat. An absolutely mellifluous song! Another one which has the potential to make it to the top!

A Love Blossoms
Performed: Navin Iyer

It is blossom time in winter. Yes, Love blossoms! A crisp and sweet instrumental about a guy falling in love, the excitement he has in his heart can be easily visualised and you simply feel it. Navin Iyer must be praised for this effort, especially for the electronic wind instrument-like sounds in the second half of the song. A perfect ending to the album!

Verdict:

Aadukalam, as an album, is complete. GV Prakash Kumar has shown more promise with this album. It is quite evident that he has either tried to be on the same scale or be subdued and not go overboard, even if there are opportunities in this album. His experiments with contrasting sounds do pass to an extent. The songs would certainly make an impact if they are situational as there is no fantasy involved. A couple of songs would be on the charts for a while!

Review by : C. Karthik
Music Director : James Vasanthan
Vocals : Sukhwinder Singh, Benny Dayal, Sunandan, Thanjai Selvi, Gerard Thompson, Padmanaban, KS Chitra, Malgudi Subha.
Lyrics : Na Muthukumar, Mohan Rajan, Yugabharathi
Kollywood's 'Vetri kootani' is back with Easan. Producer, director and actor Sasikumar is ready with his next venture Easan. With his dear friend Samudhirakani and Vaibhav in lead roles, Easan also has producer AL Alagappan and Abhinaya playing vital characters. Sasikumar has again turned to James Vasanthan, who had earlier scored music for Subramaniapuram. The music of Easan was released recently and we will see what James Vasanthan has in store for us.
Easan

Meyyana Inbam...
Vocals: Sukhwinder Singh, Benny Dayal, Sunandan
Lyrics: Na Muthkumar

James Vasanthan churns a techno number in the form of Meyyana Inbam. Though the beats are thoroughly western, the voice selection stands out. Sunandan's voice complements the other two brilliantly. A fresh, young and fizzy song about night-life in a city, this one spreads the energy for sure. Na Muthukumar stands out with lyrics like Intha iravu thaan poguthey poguthey...izhuthu katta thaan kayiru kondu vaa nanbane nanbane. Grand start to the album! Rewind or next track?

Jilla Vittu...
Vocals: Thanjai Selvi
Lyrics: Mohan Rajan

The mood reverses completely as we take a ‘U’ turn from the city straight to a village. Though this is a usual 'village thiruvizha-like' song, Thanjai Selvi's voice stands out. The instruments used are also slightly different from the ordinary. Mohan Rajan's lyrics are worth a listen. Jilla vittu just adds variety to the album more than anything else.

Get Ready...
Vocals: Benny Dayal, Gerard Thompson
Lyrics: Na Muthkumar

Get ready for some western notes again, this time with a pop-rock style of song. With electric, bass guitars and drums for company, Benny Dayal and Gerard seem to give their best. But the interludes give a feeling of being a touch too noisy. But James must be appreciated for this new experiment. For those who are familiar, the rock and metal-like sections in the middle should appeal. A worthy listen but not easy to remember!

Kannil Anbai...
Vocals: Padmanaban
Lyrics: Na Muthukumar

Interesting chimes and digitized flute sounds welcome you to Kannil Anbai. James Vasanthan again tries to be different here and the effort is quite evident. Padmanabhan's voice and Muthukumar's lyrics add charm to the song. The song is melodious and has great potential to score big but somehow misses the mark. Worth listening too but does not warrant enough attention. This could prove to be the underdog after the movie’s release!

Sugavasi...
Vocals: KS Chitra, Malgudi Subha
Lyrics: Yugabharathi

Sugavasi has an interesting start to the song and continues to be so. With a fusion of western and Indian sounds, the song reaches high point with Chitra and Malgudi Subha's excellent rendition of the song. The electric guitar sounds in the background distracts us but luckily the song does not lose track. A good end to the album!

Verdict:

Overall, James Vasanthan has showcased his broad-eyed view of music. From techno, folk to pop-rock, Easan makes an interesting album to listen to. Specific mention must be made for the choice of singers for the songs. In an attempt to be different, James Vasanthan has merged a lot of unusual sounds which give a feeling of weariness. But his effort must definitely be appreciated. Easan is a well-rounded album nonetheless!
- Songs to Watch out!

MANMADHAN AMBU MUSIC REVIEW
Review by : C. Karthik
Music Director : Devi Sri Prasad
Vocals : Kamal Haasan, Andrea Jeremiah, Priya Hemesh, Mukesh, Suchitra, Trisha, Devi Sri Prasad
Lyrics : Kamal Haasan, Viveka
After the Superstar, it is now the time of the Ulaga Nayagan. With KS Ravikumar wielding the megaphone, Manmadhan Ambu has Kamal Haasan, Trisha, Madhavan, Sangeetha in important roles. The grand launch of the audio was held recently at Singapore with the team landing there after spending three days on a cruise. This also marks the second time Kamal Haasan has joined hands with music director Devi Sri Prasad after Dasavatharam. Let us see what this album has to offer.
Manmadhan Ambu

Dhagudu Dhattham...
Vocals: Kamal Haasan
Lyrics: Kamal Haasan

The start of this song sounds like a slowed-down version of a yesteryear Michael Jackson song which forms the base. Before we get on to more assumptions, Kamal Haasan takes over. Devi Sri Prasad has used Western arrangements for this, otherwise, it is a folk song. It makes an interesting listen with drums beating to glory instead of the usual sounds we get to hear. Kamal explains the divide between the rich and poor which is quite typical of him. A worthy listen and is sure to be aired more often.

Who's the hero...
Vocals: Andrea Jeremiah
Lyrics: Kamal Haasan

A sober start to the song with underplayed tones and trumpets give way to the lovely Andrea. Devi experiments with Jazz in this song. Lovely music arrangements with the saxophone, trumpets and bass drums that take us right back to the glory days of Jazz music. And Andrea...gives her full commitment and concentration for this song. With English and Tamil lyrics interlaced (Kamal becomes the hero and Zorro), this may not be a popular song with a section of the audience but DSP must be praised for his effort. The second half of the song leading to the end.... huh, no wonder Kamal said "Ennala ivlo dum pudichi paada mudiyathu".

Neela Vaanam...
Vocals: Kamal Haasan
Lyrics: Kamal Haasan

Lovely sounds of violin welcome you to the blue sky. It is Kamal's show again in Neela Vaanam. Soaked in pathos Neela Vanam is simple but grand while listening. Kamal's high-pitched voice literally overtakes the music. "Naam vaazhntha vaazhvukku saandravathu... innoru uyir thaanadi".. shows Kamal's passion towards his love interest. The classical interludes with tabla and chimes are exquisite. Surely will evoke the right emotions when heard more!

Oyyale...
Vocals: Mukesh, Suchitra
Lyrics: Viveka

Three different songs and just when you are missing DSP, he assures he has not gone anywhere. A kuthu song adds more variety to the platter. Mukesh and Suchitra sing this effortlessly and this song is not the usual DSP kuthu song. If the harmonium sounds add authenticity, underlying rhythm beats suggest otherwise. A peppy delightful number to listen to. Definitely a crowd favourite!

Kamal Kavidhai...
Vocals: Kamal Haasan, Trisha
Lyrics: Kamal Haasan

Most awaited number of the album. The initial reaction is that Trisha's pronunciations could be a little better but the girly voice catches up with you. Kamal is one of the very few who can discuss and convey tabooed social messages without leaving a smirk on the face. "Aadayai kalaigaiyil kooduthal pesinal.. anubavam mikkaval echarikkai, kalavi mudintha pin kidanthu pesinal... kaadhalai maaridum echarikkai"... is testimony to his writing. While Trisha speaks about the state of women, Kamal talks about a woman's prayers about her wishes. Listen very carefully to the lyrics. Adorable!

Theme of MMA...

The essence of the movie is best conveyed with choirs. Racy with a sprinkling of French lyrics here and there. DSP's rhythm machines would have been happier if this has continued for a little while but just the right theme for the movie.

Manmadhan Ambu...
Vocals: Devi Sri Prasad
Lyrics: Kamal Haasan

Is there a DSP album where he has not sung a song? This song might be familiar to the few who have watched the trailer. Manmadhan Ambu is youthful and fresh. DSP is in full swing in this song with beats and many other instruments. A fusion of pop, folk and rap, Man Madhan Ambu (the names of the three pivotal characters?) is exciting to say the least. Sure to top the charts!

Verdict:

Overall, DSP can be very proud of this album as he has deviated from his normal offerings. A westernised folk song, jazz, melodies, a poem and a kuthu...an album could not ask for more variety and DSP has delivered. Though the music gets a little heavy at times, he has Kamal, with his voice and lyrics, to save him. The new experiments shows his maturity and his intention for being innovative. With the movie's release soon, the songs must be playing non-stop on air.\

Kanden Music Review

Kanden - Come fall in love

IndiaGlitz [Tuesday, December 21, 2010]

‘Kanden’ is an upcoming romantic comedy film written and directed by Mugil, and produced by TCS. It stars Santhanu Bhagyaraj and Rashmi Gautham in lead along with Santhanam, Vijaykumar, Ashish Vidyarthi and others.

The film introduces a new music director Vijay Ebenezer who was an associate of Harris Jayaraj. Vijay Ebanesar was an evangelical composer debuting in films. Though his background is very alien to his present job, Vijay has learned things fast. All the songs of ‘Kanden’ are very filmy and have no trace of his religious music.

Popular lyricists and popular singes have featured in the songs. From the veteran Vaali to the currant sensation Thamarai have written the lyrics. All the happening singers of the new generation have lent their voices. The only conspicuous factor in the album containing really good songs is that it has the stamp of Harris Jayaraj in all.

‘Kanden’ album was released by Harris Jayaraj on December 9, 2010 in the presence celebrities like Suriya, K. Bhagyaraj and Yuvan Shankar Raja. The curiosity factor over this album was high as it is the first audio of the new music label Photon Kathaas founded by Gautham Menon.

1. Enge En Idhayam - Listen here

Singers: Dr.Burn, Krish & Prashanthini

Lyricist: Thamarai

A breezy romantic number with a rhythmic tune is for good listening. Lively beats curving through out the song keeps the spirit on a high. Even violins are backed by lovely beats. The beats are well paced and the voices flow in tandem. The governing Krish and the reactive Prashantini ooze romance. Dr. Burn’s flashing rap sessions are also tuneful.

2. Oru Paaravai - Listen here

Singers: Gurupriya & Krish

Lyricist: Krish

Another freely flowing melody from the new comer that has a similar pulse that of the Kandene song

Tender flute gives a romantic night effect. The haunting tune and neat use of the singers seems heavily inspired from Harris Jayaraj. Gurupriya is amazing in the support of Krish. Classically engaging like a Bombay Jaishree song under Harris.

3. Narmada - Listen here

Singers: Haricharan & Suchithra Karthik Kumar

Lyricist: Krish

This is a trendily fast paced feel good romantic number. The later part of the song is very yippee.

Guitars play a character and the arrangement has understood the pulse of the youth. Haricharan is dominating yet Suchitra holds her forte. Suchitra’s voice is feministic romantic and that is lovable.

4. Ninivugal - Listen here

Singer: Devan Ekambaram

Lyricist: Ravindran

A sweet melody that will grab your attention in spite of its length. Devan has a peculiar ability to bring in some delightful nuances as he has done in many of his numbers for ARR.

5. Aa Haa - Listen here

Singers: Krish & Ujjayinee

Lyricist: Thamarai

Another Krish brand of song. Ever sine his ‘June Ponal’ became a rage you just feel all his songs are similar. But every time he surprises you. ‘Aa Haa’ is one song which has got everything almost perfect. Neat guitars and beautiful arrangements and Krish make this song a terrific experience. Ujjaiyanee is content with supporting Krish.

6. Yavarukum Thalaivan - Listen here

Singers: Chinmayi & Senthil Dass

Lyricist: Kavignar Valli

“Yavarukum Thalaivan” sounds a Christian devotional in a folk background with traditional instruments playing the tune. A novel combination works out here well. Timeless Kavignar Valli is seen with his original strength. Chinmayi is as usual great.

7. Casanova - Listen here

Singers: Rahul Nambiar, Samcy & Sheeba

Lyricist: Ravindran

Again a Shorty Indipop, may be for the dance floor. Rahul Nambiar, Samcy & Sheeba gives a heady party mix with a dose of English lyrics. A genre for its kind of lovers.

Overall, the album has the sign of Harris Jayaraj in every bit. Vijay Ebanezar like his master has used guitars and drums explicitly. Though the music is fresh sans experiments you cannot stop the feeling of a revitalizing mix of all Harris Jayaraj all time hits so far.

In spite of Harris Jayaraj, this Vijay Ebanezar’s maiden album is thoroughly pleasing and enjoyable. He is a welcome addition to Tamil music industry.

Aridhu Aridhu Music Review

Aridhu Aridhu - Not so rare music

‘Aridhu Aridhu’ is a film produced by Jaya Krishnan under the banner JK Creations and directed by KR Mathivanan who was an erstwhile assistant to director Shankar. Director said,” The film is based on the line ‘Aridhu Aridhu Manidarai Pirathal Ardhu’ from Avaiyar which means’ it is rare to be born as a human.

New faces Harish and Uthara are playing the lead characters in this film. Harish is the son of the famous Audio Company Five Star owner Kalyan. Uthara, a new face is a winner of a beauty contest in New Zealand in 2008. Hollywood actress Princess Jasmine of ‘Ghost Rider’ fame is also acting in an important role in this film.

Thaman has composed the music. ‘Aridhu Aridhu’ music was released at a function was held at Sathyam Cinemas on June 12.

1. Oo! Lalali - Listen here

Singer: Suchitra

Lyricist: KR. Mathivanan

“Oo! Lalali” song is very Techno sounding with its arrangements and the song is not for its lyric. Suchitra’s trademark attitude in the vocals adds sensuousness to the song. A bratish girl song with Tanglish words may be aimed at a particular group only and not in audience general. Thaman’s too much dependence on electronics hampers the lyric but again likeable for the arrangements.

2. Kanavugal Eduvarai - Listen here

Singers: Thaman. S, Benny Dayal

Lyricist: KR. Mathivanan

Again a song with super fast music arrangements. Seems a song of liberation and human emotional freedom, but the lyric could have been let little more freely audible by Thaman. More a rap and reggae mixed with heavy bass strings. Would have been a great song if only the heavy rhythms had been little under played and some importance given to the words.

3. Missing Something - Listen here

Singer: Reeta

Lyricist: KR. Mathivanan

The opening violin is a prelude to what’s inside this lovely romantic solo. The voice of Reeta is silky, smooth and at the same time and sounds like that of a passionate lover. The heroine is from New Zealand and so looks this song filled with a lot of English. Simple background rhythms and ensemble with percussive instruments and guitars makes this song worth a listen. Pick of the pack.

4. Azhaghai Sirithaiyada - Listen here

Singer: Thaman. S, KR. Mathivanan

Lyricist: KR. Mathivanan

This is a philosophical duet by the film director Mathivanan and music director Thaman. Mathivanan sounds little Illayarajaistic in this reflective song.

5. Saturday Girlodu - Listen here

Singer: Ujjaini

Lyricist: KR. Mathivanan

This considerably peppy song by Ujjaini is very cosmopolitan. We heard a similar Ujjaini in "Nee Marlyn Monroe Clonongaa" in ‘ATM’. Lyric may be silly but the energy is intact throughout the song. Rhythm techniques are as usual as normally used for these kinds of songs.

6. Un Uyirai - Listen here

Singer: Karthik

Lyricist: KR. Mathivanan

“Un Uyirai” is the only soft melody in the album. Karthik as always breeze through beautifully. A thoughtful lyric has been sensitively handled by Thaman. Though the track is slow to begin you will not realize when the song ends. So nicely it flows.

After Eeram, Mundhinam Paartheney and now with Aridhu Aridhu, Thaman is surely coming on his own. But he should also give some importance lyrics. In fact he did in his previous films. Even in a mass, commercial song words do matter for a listener however crappy they are. Filmy audiences don’t want to hear instrumentals. On the whole this album is passable with a couple of good numbers like “Missing Something” and “Un Uyirai”.

Review by : C. Karthik

Music Director : Vidyasagar

Vocals : Tipu, Swetha, Karthik, Suchitra, Benny
Dayal, Megha, KK, Rita

Lyrics : Pa Vijay, Yugabharathi, Viveka, Kabilan

Vijay's movies always create a buzz when it is ready to strike with the audience. The curiosity factor has increased this time as Vidyasagar has joined hands with Vijay in this movie as has Asin. Kavalan has been written and directed by Siddique and has been produced by Romesh Babu. With the music released just recently, we will see what Vidyasagar has in store for us.
Kavalan

Vinnai Kappan...
Vocals: Tipu, Swetha
Lyrics: Pa. Vijay

Trumpet sounds and heavy beats mark the introduction of Kaavalan. This is not a typical Vijay intro song, but falls in the same category as it is reminiscent of earlier such songs. Pa. Vijay's lyrics are aptly rendered by Tipu and Swetha. The female voice in this song gives an interesting feel to it. This one is for Vijay's fans!

Yaradu...
Vocals: Karthik, Suchitra
Lyrics: Yugabharathi

Violins pave way for synthesised beats but Karthik and Suchitra's voices make this a delightful song to listen to. Having created a name for himself in churning out melodies, Vidyasagar can be seen at ease rendering this song. An undisturbed rhythm, creative sound mixings and the romantic feel to the song makes us want to listen to this more than once. A crowd favourite most definitely!

Step Step...
Vocals: Benny Dayal, Megha
Lyrics: Viveka

We can't help but visualise Vijay tap-dancing at the beginning of this song. ‘Step Step’ is an energetic number with the sudden downscales in rhythm causing no interruptions to the song. As is the case with some of Vijay's songs, this one must gain popularity once people see the visuals on the screen.

Sada Sada...
Vocals: Karthik
Lyrics: Yugabharathi

This song appeals right from the start. With the rhythm machine in use, this song hardly misses a beat. Karthik makes the song all the more lively and enjoyable to listen to. Vidyasagar's experience is seen here yet again as he does not deviate from the course. A worthy listen!

Pattamboochi...
Vocals: KK, Rita
Lyrics: Kabilan

A romantic number, Pattamboochi is simple in terms of music arrangements. Vidyasagar can be appreciated for not going overboard with music as he has KK and Rita delivering the required emotions with ease. This song may be a favourite with young fans of Vijay!

Verdict:

Overall, Vidyasagar's music album for Kavalan is quite different from his earlier albums for Vijay. The music is fresh and youthful. As is the case, a couple of songs will attach with the audience once the movie gets released. The most interesting aspect is that Vidyasagar has not gone overboard to emphasise Vijay's star value and has delivered what the movie requires, which augers well for the movie itself. A desirable collection of songs!

Review by : C. Karthik

Music Director : Vidyasagar

Vocals : Ranjith, Udit Narayan, Surmukhi, Roshan,
Malathy Laxman, Priyadharshini, Srivardhini, Ranjith, Suchitra, Roshans

Lyrics : Na. Muthukumar, Viveka, Arivumathy, Pa. Vijay

Siruthai is out of the jungle and is ready to entertain us. We can see Karthi in a dual role in the movie while Tamannah will be his love interest. The movie has been produced by KE Gnanavel Raja and is directed by Siva. Music for Siruthai has been scored by Vidyasagar. The audio of Siruthai was launched recently and let us see what Vidyasagar has in store for us.
Siruthai

Naan Romba Romba...
Vocals: Ranjith, Chorus
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

This is the Rocket Raja exclusive! Ranjith sings for one of the Siruthais, who is self-aggrandizing about himself. A usual introduction song for the hero! Na. Muthukumar's lyrics like "sollurathellam suthamana poi... vekkurathu ellam pocket la kai" reveal the character as much as possible. Must be a strong favourite among Karthi's fans!

Chellam Vada Chellam...
Vocals: Udit Narayan, Surmukhi, Roshan
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

A short romantic number, Chellam Vada chellam has neat and simple beats as the base arrangement. With Roshan's rap-like interludes, Udit Narayan and Surmukhi deliver a poesy number. When we just think that the song will lose track in the second part, Vidyasagar makes sure that it does not slip away. A worthy listen!

Azhagha Poranthuputa...
Vocals: Malathy Laxman, Priyadharshini
Lyrics: Viveka

A very different beginning to the song but don’t be fooled, as the song has a lot more to offer. This song is about the heroine raving about his 'man'. The beats and the voice remind us of yester-year village songs where the heroine sings praises of her fiance. The song may appeal more when we see a brisk Karthi on the screen!

Thalattu...
Vocals: Srivardhini
Lyrics: Arivumathy

Srivardhini sings a delightful Thalattu. Though there is nothing new about the song itself, it is a refreshing listen. A peaceful song considering what is to come next.

Adi Rakkamma Rakku...
Vocals: Ranjith, Suchitra, Roshans
Lyrics: Pa. Vijay

Ranjith is back with Rakkamma Rakku. A cheerful and energetic song! Suchitra gives the song what it requires: zest. A folk arrangement with synthesised music (the trend nowadays) makes the song an interesting listen. If slipped in at the right moment in the movie, the song is sure to create ruckus in movie halls.

Verdict:

A surprisingly short album, the total time adding up to less than 20 minutes, Siruthai emphasizes the fact that it is a commercial entertainer. This may not be Vidyasagar's best album but he has given what the movie requires: A crisp album with short and sweet songs. The songs also have impressions of earlier hits, but Vidyasagar has cleverly given a new look and feel to each of them. Overall, Siruthai is a worthy listen to and must appeal to Karthi's fans is a huge way.
- Songs to Watch out!

ILAIGNAN MUSIC REVIEW

Review by : C. Karthik

Music Director : Vidyasagar

Vocals : Karthik, Anvesha, Chinmayi, Tippu, Shreya Goshal, Hariharan

Lyrics : Pa Vijay

Ilaignan is releasing this weekend and has many distinctions to its credit before its release. Being Kalaignar's 75th film as a story and screenplay writer, this movie has been directed by Suresh Krishna who will be directing his 50th movie of his career. Music is by Vidyasagar and the lyrics for the songs have been written by Pa Vijay, who happens to be the hero of the movie as well.
Ilaignan

Mazhayil Kulitha Malarvanam...
Vocals: Karthik, Anvesha

The album opens on a refreshing note and settles down to nice rhythm. Vidyasagar makes you forget that he was missed in Kollywood by producing deluxe music for this song. Karthik and Anvesha infuse blood into Pa. Vijay's lyrics and make this song a memorable romantic number. Watch out for the visuals of this song!

Imaithuthane...
Vocals: Chinmayi

This song again emphasises that Ilaignan is a periodical movie. The richness of the music, especially in the interludes, gives us a feeling of being in the middle of an orchestral ocean. And Chinmayee, with her shrill voice, conveys the pathos intended. Worth listening to!

Neeya Neeya...
Vocals: Tippu

A situational song, Neeya Neeya's opening is as huge as the ship constructed for the movie. But surprisingly, Tippu's voice gets submerged in the ocean of Vidyasagar's music. The song appeals for two reasons: music and lyrics.

Oru Nila Oru Kulam...
Vocals: Karthik, Shreya Ghoshal

A feel-good romantic number, Oru Nila has Karthik and Shreya Goshal singing with ease. It does not come as a surprise especially from a music director of Vidyasagar's calibre. He does stamp his authority in a lot of places and hence this song is soothing to listen to.

Thozha Vaanam Dooramillai...
Vocals: Hariharan

The chorus right at the beginning of the song is aptly supported by Vidyasagar's grand orchestral accompaniment that follows. An inspirational and revolutionary song, the message is conveniently conveyed by Hariharan, Pa. Vijay and Vidyasagar. The music is rich, grand and is fantastic to listen to.

This song is sure to raise goose bumps when seen on screen blended with the visuals. A royal finish to the album!

Verdict:

Ilaignan's music should be of great strength to the movie when it gets released. The grandeur, which the directed had intended to convey, has been easily put through to the public by Vidyasagar. Lyrics are a great plus to the album and Pa. Vijay must be lauded for his efforts too. The songs must have a greater impact when visualised on the screen. A good album overall!

Review by : C. Karthik

Music Director : Mani Sharma

Vocals : Naveen, Rahul Nambiar, Ranjith, Sainthavi, Karthik, Rita, Ranjith, Janani, Mukesh

Lyrics : Viveka, Annamalai, Na Muthkumar, Sai Ramani

Singam Puli is one of the latest movies to feature in music stores. Jiiva and Divya Spandana star in the movie which has been directed by Sai Ramani. Music has been scored by Mani Sharma who has given numerous hits in Tamil and Telugu. It would be exciting to listen and know what the album has to offer.

Singam Puli

Figaru...
Vocals: Naveen
Lyrics: Viveka

The album starts on an interesting note and the raga scale changes after the intro. The song is peppy but Viveka's lyrics leaves much to desire about. Looks like an introduction to the hero! The song uncharacteristically slows down in the middle sections. A possible favorite among teenagers!

Poove Poove...
Vocals: Rahul Nambiar
Lyrics: Viveka

Poove Poove is a melody sung by Rahul, who has given life to the song. The simple arrangements used in the song makes it all the more interesting. The song captures our attention like the heroine who has captured the hero's heart in the movie.

Varrale...
Vocals: Ranjith, Sainthavi
Lyrics: Annamalai

And here we go: the expected Kuthu number. This one takes off right from the word go! Ranjith and Sainthavi's voices complement the high energy evident in the music. Varrale… could just be the perfect song to showcase Jiiva's dancing skills.

Kangalal...
Vocals: Karthik, Rita
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

The first few moments of the song makes us inquisitive about what lies ahead. Karthik and Rita, along with Na. Muthukumar, do make this song worthy. But Mani Sharma loses track again in the middle sections, as in the first, with a mish-mash of musical experiments, rap et al thus leaving a faint impression after listening to it.

Ullasame...
Vocals: Ranjith, Janani
Lyrics: Sai Ramani

Synthesizers in full flow here! A fast, high octane number that has Ranjith singing and Janani adding English touch to it. Mani Sharma has used the electric guitar sounds in the middle to optimum effect. Ullasame can be heard on air many times just for the pace of the song.

Naadilla...
Vocals: Mukesh
Lyrics: Viveka

This song is for the Singam or Puli (the one who leads a carefree life). Mani Sharma has not made this a usual kuthu number by adding western notes to it. We get a feeling that this is to complement the first song of the album. A neat finish to the album!

Verdict:

Singam Puli is definitely not bad as an album. It has all the ingredients for a mass entertainer: Kuthu song, fast paced numbers and a melody too. Mani Sharma has usually struck the right chord with the audience with such albums in the past. This one may not be called as one of his best but has the ability to make people dance to his tunes.

VIRUDHAGIRI MUSIC REVIEW

Review by : C. Karthik

Music Director : Sundar C. Babu

Vocals : Shankar Mahadevan, Hariharan, Chinmayi, Senthildas, Srilekha, Manicka Vinayagam, Sadhana Sargam, SP Balasubramaniam

Lyrics : Vaali, Snehan, Yugabarathi, Na Muthukumar

Vijayakanth's movies are nothing short of sensational. Already a prominent face in the state's politics, his movies of late have had a dose of political innuendos in them. Produced by Captain Creations and directed by the Captain himself, Virudhagiri has Vijayakanth and Meenakshi Dikshit in lead roles. The music has
Virudhagiri
been scored by Sundar C. Babu. With the assembly elections round the corner, there were rumours that Viruthagirl will be politically inclined in terms of songs and dialogues. Let us see what we have in store.

Makkal Oru Puram...
Vocals: Shankar Mahadevan
Lyrics: Vaali

What fans expected is right here, in the first song itself. The Murasu (Vijayakanth's party symbol) sounds loud in all eight directions. Makkal oru pakkam.... is Vijayakanth's agony, frustration and hopes of a better governance beautifully penned by Vaali. Shankar Mahadevan is in absolute ease singing this and could easily be liked by many. A perfect start to the album which sets the tone for the rest of the album!

Devathai Ondru...
Vocals: Hariharan, Chinmayi
Lyrics: Snehan

We move to a slightly melodious number, though the base rhythm is slightly up in pace. Hariharan and Chinmayi make us travel a few years back as the song is reminiscent of yesteryear melodies. Snehan's lyrics and Sundar C. Babu's music do not gel so well and hence the song does not remain in our memory after we listen to it.

Mannavane Mandhirane...
Vocals: Senthildas, Srilekha, Manicka Vinayagam
Lyrics: Yugabharathi

Mannavane is another racy number in the album. Sundar C. babu tries hard to add new sounds to this song but sadly cannot help prevent from giving it an 'orchestral' feeling to it. Yugabharathi's lyrics again sing praises of the Captain and the rap interlude stands poles apart. Just another song to add to the collection!

Pookkal Endrom...
Vocals: Sadhana Sargam
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

Muthukumar pens down a song in respect of the fairer sex. Sadhana Sargam's voice stands apart from the jarring music in the background. Not sure if a rap sequence is required for an otherwise mellifluous song. Though the music is distracting, Muthukumar and Sadhana Sargam combine to give us a decent number.

Yezhaigal Thozha Va Va...
Vocals: SP Balasubrahmanyam
Lyrics: Snehan

Another one for the Captain's fans! Another anthem for the party with elections round the corner! Sundar C. Babu makes sure that the vigour in SPB's voice is reciprocated well by setting up a neat arrangement. This song is sure to connect well with the audience when seen on the silver screen. A nice choice to end the album like the way it started!

Verdict:

Overall, Vijayakanth, being the director of this movie, has shown no qualms in his intentions of making this movie a political statement. The lyrics are definitely overdosed with political insinuations and also about praising the leader himself. Sundar C. Babu has not had much to do here but could have shown some restraint in a couple of songs where the melodies warrant a subdued arrangement. The album is saved to an extent by the voices and efforts of singers like SPB, Hariharanm SHankar Mahadevan and Sadhana Sargam. Virudhagiri is strictly for the Captain's fans and must be a rage when he reflects the same on the screen!

Veppam Music Review

Veppam - Has right ingredients to hit the success

IndiaGlitz [Wednesday, January 12, 2011]

Veppam, another new venture of Gautham Menon’s is already creating hype among the youths and when it comes to music, it’s been quite a while since we have heard Joshua Sridhar’s signature melodies. Veppam music comes with a package of different genres from delightful mix of lilting melodies to quick beats and 'kuthu' chants.

1. Mazhi Varum

Singers: Naresh Iyer

Lyricist: Na. Muthukumar

‘Mazhai Varum’, a solo song which comes in two versions was sung by Suzanne and Naresh Iyer. This song has an emotion of empathy where a lonely lover thinks about his lover and the feel of the music is aesthetically produced by Joshua. Suzanne’s version is a bit better than Naresh Iyer’s, however in essence both renditions are brilliant and moving.

2. Kaatril Eeram

Singers: Karthik, Sricharan

Lyricist: Na. Muthukumar

‘Kaatril Eeram’, a happy go lucky song sung by Karthik and Sricharan is quite an up beating one in this album. Karthik’s voice is so touchy and makes you to get into the mood of the song as soon as you listen to this number. Na. Muthukumar’s work is clearly visible in this track as the rhythm blends with lyrics so fine, with some lively beats.

3. Minnale Pudikire

Singer: Benny Dayal

Lyricist: Na. Muthukumar

‘Minnale Pudikire’, by Benny Dayal is a song for all the young guys who want to dance to the tunes and listen to it simultaneously. However, it’s a cliché where the beats are little overpowering the track and the lyrics are little preachy. Benny Dayal’s work is clearly shown in this song and his style of singing and modulation is fascinating.

4. Oru Devathai

Singers: Shwetha, Clinton

Lyricist: Na. Muthukumar

‘Oru Devathai’, is a song where it creates full positive energy to the album and the voices of Shwetha and Clinton creates magic to this number. Though this track is quite happening with new interesting lyrics the rhythm and the tune of the song is mediocre. This song has the essence to dominate the album but other tracks take over with much more unique beats.

5. Veppam

Singers: Josh, Naresh Iyer

Lyricist: Na. Muthukumar

‘Veppam’, which is a title track sung by Josh and Naresh Iyer is full of vibe and energy. The lyrics are little intense as the song demands it. Since it’s the title track of the movie it has the entire ingredient which requires it.

6. Rani Naan

Singer: Apoorva

Lyricist: Na. Muthukumar

And then the kuthu number 'Rani Naan' which has become an essential of Tamil movies! The lyrics are fun but Apoorva's voice takes the cake! The harsh quality of her voice gives the kuthu that extra pep and zing. It may not be the best in the genre, but it's a sure contender.

As a whole, ‘Veppam’ music has all the right factors to hit the success launch pad appropriately. Music and lyrics are one big part which plays a vital role in a movie and big kudos to Joshua Sridhar and Na. Muthukumar as their work is really shown.

PATHINAARU MUSIC REVIEW

Review by : C. Karthik

Music Director : Yuvan Shankar Raja

Vocals : Hariharan, Bella Shinde, Yuvan Shankar Raja, Karthik Raja, Shankar Mahadevan

Lyrics : Karthik Netha, Snehan

Pathinaaru is an upcoming movie which has Shiva, Madhu Shalini and Abhishek donning important roles. Directed by D Sabapathy and produced by A Sivashankar, Pathinaaru's music has been scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja. It is not a surprise that Yuvan's albums generate curiosity when it is released and so has Pathinaaru. We will review how pleasing the album is!
Pathinaaru

Ada Da En Meethu...
Vocals: Hariharan, Bella Shinde
Lyrics: Karthik Netha

Bella Shinde's voice stands out in the initial moments of the song which has a techno touch to it but settles down to a wonderfully soothing rhythm. Hariharan is a perfect choice for this song as he and Bella weave magic with Karthik Netha's lyrics. The flute interludes are blissful. A fantastic song to start with!

Yaar Solli Kadhal...
Vocals: Yuvan Shankar Raja
Lyrics: Snehan

Yuvan's deep voice works well again in Yaar solli kadhal. Yuvan's trademark soul-blue genre is quite eminent and begs to be different from his earlier songs. The music is just apt for this song and is pleasant to listen to. Though it is a bit lengthy, the song is right up there among the best.

Kaattu Chedikku...
Vocals: Karthik Raja
Lyrics: Snehan

Karthik Raja gets a song with a more formal tune. He displays a restricted rendering of the song which has interesting sounds and orchestration. Yuvan has displayed his skills wonderfully in this song and the end product is quite pleasing to the ears. Another song which adds to the charm of the album!

Vaanam Namadhe...
Vocals: Shankar Mahadevan
Lyrics: Snehan

Just a few seconds into the song and Shankar Mahadevan's bold voice gives an insight into the song. Having a philosophical outlook, Vaanam Namadhey has throbbing music by Yuvan. Snehan shines in this song in many places. 'Yaaro nadai potta disaiyil naam pogamal naam pogum disai nalai vazhiyagalam' is testimony to this. Inspiring song and a good listen!

Theme Music...
Yuvan Shankar Raja

Yuvan's theme music sums up the album. It could be just what the director wanted as someone of Yuvan's caliber can deliver more pulsating music as a theme. But just the right end to the album nonetheless!

Verdict:

Pathinaaru's music is youthful and lovely to the years. The visuals may add more value to the song. But Yuvan has delivered another hit album for sure. Lovely orchestrations, right chords and soulful voices make Pathinaaru a worthy album to have in your collection. Pathinaaru is 'Sweet Sixteen'.

[tscii:579dd7b095]THOONGA NAGARAM MUSIC REVIEW

Review by : C. Karthik

Music Director : Sundar C. Babu

Vocals : Palghat Sriram, Hariharan, Chinmayee, Chandrababu, Karthik, Madhu Balakrishnan, Shankar Mahadevan.

Lyrics : S Gnanakaravel, Thamarai, Narayana Kavi, S Annamalai

Dhayanidhi Alagiri is introducing Gaurav to Kollywood as a director and an actor in his latest production Thoonga Nagaram. The movie has Vimal, Bharani and Anjali acting in important roles. The music of Thoonga Nagaram has been scored by Sundar C. Babu. The audio of the movie
Thoonga Nagaram
was launched recently at Sathyam Cinemas in Chennai and let us see how the album fares.

Vaigai Siricha Thoonganagaram...
Vocals: Palghat Sriram
Lyrics: S Gnanakaravel

Palghat Sriram gives an outlook of Madurai in this song. The city is the hero in this song. Nothing special about the music here but S Gnanakaravel perfectly describes what Madurai is all about. From ‘Sanga Tamizh' and 'Lanthu Tamizh' to the markets, theatres and the gopurams, Vaigai Siricha is like a travel guide to people. The song also throws light into the friendliness and the gutsy behavior of Madurai people. An apt song to mark the start of the album!

Koorana Paarvaigal...
Vocals: Hariharan, Chinmayee
Lyrics: Thamarai

Koorana Paarvaigal is a melody song. The music arrangements are surprisingly low key but augers well for the song as Hariharan and Chinmayee's voices are clear and lovely to listen to. Thamarai's lyrics are poesy and add value to the song. A breezy number which will catch up on you after a couple of listens.

Kalyanam Kalyanam (Remix)...
Vocals: Chandrababu, Karthik
Lyrics: Narayana Kavi

Legendary actor Chandrababu's Kalyanam Kalyanam song is brought to life here. A bit of DJ mixing in between with some usual sounds is what this remix is all about. Karthik does a decent job in describing marriage and its bliss. This song should be aired on radio and television just for the popularity of its original version.

Ettu Kangalukkum...
Vocals: Madhu Balakrishnan
Lyrics: S Gnanakaravel

The start of this song start on the same notes of a popular yesteryear song but this one is about friendship and the bond friends share for years. Again the music does not impress much and Madhu Balakrishnan's effort does not help the cause either. The song fails to make an impression!

Nee Siricha Kondattam...
Vocals: Shankar Mahadevan
Lyrics: S Annamalai

This is like a 'thiruvizha song'. We can easily visualize the song while listening to it. Shankar Mahadevan's subtle modulations give the required zest to the song. This high octane number must catch up with the audience once they see Madurai's beauty on screen.

Rhythm of Thoonganagaram...

An intriguing start paves way for the traditional drums (molam) and trumpets and though it is short it is quite an interesting listen.

Theme of Thoonganagaram...

The theme generates curiosity as you travel with it. Just when the music gets grander nearly reaching the peak, it comes to an abrupt end leaving us with a heavy feeling. Maybe that is how the movie intends to be...

Verdict:

Overall, Thoonga Nagaram shines in bits but is not a well etched album. Though Sundar C. Babu has used different sounds with the traditional folk instruments, the songs fail to live in our memories for long. The songs could fit in the movie with apt situations. Thoonga Nagaram is a decent album to listen to but fails to captivate us.

Ko - Fusion of western and classical

Harris Jayaraj who has given a lot of hits in Tamil films is back with ‘Ko’. The music composer who is understated when it comes to attitude is yet to strike with his work again; ‘Ko’s music is vivacious with different genres of romantic songs, hip hop and nevertheless even poetic.

1. Aga Naga

Singers: Vijay Prakash, Tippu, Ranina Reddy, Priya Subramani, Solar Sai

‘Aga Naga’, is a complete hip hop song, with techno based music. The rap bit is the introduction of the song which creates a vibe and stays over the song completely and the rap lyrics is by Srik and Emcee Jesz. Pa. Vijay has done a great job with the lyrics overall and it’s very well connects with rythm and beat of the song. With so many singers in a song like Vijay Prakash, Tippu, Ranina Reddy, Priya Subramani and Solar Sai, the song is yet to make a mark in the Tamil music industry. It’s a song where you feel like hearing again and again atleast for the lyrics and the beats.

2. Amali Thumali

Singers: Hariharan, Chinmayi

‘Amali Thumali’, a random peppy song which sounds okay for the first time. As you listen to this song, you have a cling of cliche with the music and the singers. Hariharan’s and Chinmayi’s modulation is quite effortless, could have done wonders with this song. However Swetha Mohan has done a good job. Lyrics by Viveka is not much to talk about it overall, the song reminds you of old duet songs where the rythm and music is predictable.

3. Ennamo Aedho

Singers: Aalaap Raju and Prashanthini

‘Ennamo Aedho’ song wouldn’t be new to us, as this song has been repeated in the teasers and it’s one of the best song of the album. With ryhming lyrics, Karky’s work is clearly visible in this song and the lyrics are catchy and cute. Aalaap Raju and Prashanthini’s coordination of the song is so quirky and everything is perfect in this track. Rap lines by Sricharan and Emcee Jesz are unique and it’s sure to capture the senses of listeners for the first time itself.

4. Gala Gala

Singers: Tippu, Krish, Haricharan and Sayonara Phili

‘Gala Gala’, a song with a league of young and happening singers to bring the youthful feel. Much like ‘Aga Naga’, this song shoots a line of singers like Tippu, Krish, Haricharan and Sayonara Phili. It’s been a long time we heard the electrifying voice of Sayonara after Rajnikanth’s ‘Athiradi’ song in ‘Sivaji’. She rocks with her bold intonation. The lyrical lines by Kabilan are passable.

5. Netri Potil

Singer: Naresh Iyer

‘Netri Potil’, anthem of Youth. The song opens with an interlude on electronic piano followed by male chorus. The song blows up the overpowering realms of youth at the present and thereby marks the endeavoring feats of youngsters. Naresh Iyer picks a perfect modulation adhering to the nature of song.

6. Venpaniye

Singers: Bombay Jayashree and Sriram Parthasarathy

‘Venpaniye’, a song for all ages where you can listen to it again and again. So soothing with both instrumentals and vocalisms, the song boasts of elegance with the rendition of Bombay Jayashree and Sriram Parthasarathy are just inevitable. Not to mention about lyrics by Pa. Vijay, who once again reminds us that his words wave along with tunes.

Seedan Music Review

Seedan - Master class

IndiaGlitz [Wednesday, February 09, 2011]

Not all music albums are special. But Seedan is one, since it is the 50th film of Dheena. The music composer, director Subramaniam Siva and Dhanush came together before for ‘Thiruda Thirudi’ and the number ‘Manmadharasa…’ went on to become a craze among youngsters.

Now the trio has come together for ‘Seedan’. More an album with a mix of peppy and soft numbers, ‘Seedan’ has some big names crooning the songs like Shankar Mahadevan, Kavitha Krishnamurthy, Shreya Ghosal and Hariharan.

The lyrics by Pa Vijay and Yugabharathy fit the tunes very well. Subramaniam Siva has the knack of getting good songs in his films. He doesn't disappoint music lovers this time too, getting the best from Dheena.

Check out how the songs are:

1. Munpari

Singer: Shreya Ghosal

Shreya Ghosal is one rare voice who impressed one and all with her cool rendition touching high and lower octaves with consummate ease. With a clear diction, she has rendered this song tuned by Dheena in her typical style. Soft-throated and simple tune, the song works out wonders on listeners. Lyrics by Pa Vijay deserves a special mention.

2. Valliyamma

Singers: Shankar Mahadevan and Chinna Ponnu

The song to watch out for in the album. Three Cheers to Shankar Mahadevan for rendering it with right gusto. Dheena has gone full throttle and the song is sure to climb the charts. Kudos to Pa Vijay again. He has penned the song with catchy lines that stick to our heart in just one listening. Dheena has ensured that the pace doesn't drop down anywhere.

3. Enadhu

Singers: Prasanna and Janaki Iyer

The song penned by Yugabharathy has young guns Prasanna and Janaki Iyer. Dheena's orchestration deserves a special mention. The highlight of the number is the catchy interludes. Dheena has ensured that the music doesn't dominate the lyrics anywhere. Would be a real treat if watched on screen with visuals.

4. Saravana Samayal

Singers: Hariharan and Dhanush

This Pa Vijay's number, apparently the intro song of Dhanush, is perhaps the pick of the album. Dhanush who plays a special role in this movie has crooned the number along with Hariharan. More a song that dwells on food, the tune has mass appeal. Dheena has used instruments that provides a different feel to the listener. Sure to make it among Dhanush fans, the song has right energy all through. Dheena's orchestration is the highlight.

5. Yadhumagiyae

Singers: Shankar Mahadeva and Kavitha Krishnamurthy Subramaniam

It's no typical Dheena stuff. He has chosen to cautiously deviate from his typical style to render a different tune. The mellifluous number by Shankar Mahadevan and Kavitha Krishnamurthy is pleasant to hear to. More a charming one with interesting interludes and soft preludes, the number is a delight for those who love different music.

On the whole, ‘Seedan’ is a cool and catchy album by Dheena.

NARTHAGI MUSIC REVIEW

Review by : R. Richard Mahesh

Music Director : G.V. Prakash.

Vocals : Naresh Iyer, Saindhavi, Tippu, Harini, Unni Krishnan, Sudha Raghunathan, Vijay Yesudas, Vijay Prakash and Prashanthini.

Lyrics : Na. Muthukumar.

G.V. Prakash-Na. Muthukumar combination has proved of its success relentlessly with previous albums. Sounds like ‘Narthaki’ is a musical-dance drama as the title ‘Narthaki’ (starring Aashish and Kalkai in lead roles) itself signifies and so are the songs. The album has some famous brands on tracks like Naresh Iyer, Tippu, Unni Krishnan, Sudha Raghunathan, Vijay Yesudas, Vijay Prakash and others.

Narthagi
The Destiny...
Vocals: Naresh Iyer, Saindhavi

Experience the carnatic feast by G.V. Prakash. The music director gears up for a radically distinctive work. The songs take off with Naresh Iyer’s chanting accompanied with a prelude on flute and sustained notes on Tambura. A minute later, it’s a complete show by Naresh Iyer, Saindhavi and chorus. The highlighting USPs of song is the instruments of flute and Mridhangam. ‘The Destiny’ is purely for the ardent admirers of Carnatic music.

Poovin Manam Poovil Illai...
Vocals: Tippu, Harini

A poetic beauty indeed!!! Na. Muthukumar’s finely exquisite lyrical lines are evident from the opening lines ‘Poovin Manam Poovil Illai’ itself. The real life couple Tippu and Harini has delivered the song at their best (call it best on-track chemistry). Especially Harini is mellifluous with her crystal-clear clarity. The song is loaded with lots of instrumentals in the accompaniment, but is played mildly, thereby gaining more grandness for the vocalisms. Much alike the previous number, G.V. Prakash makes best usage of flute and Mridhangam with slow-strings heard throughout the song. The vocal parts and rhythmic patterns heard in interludes are reminiscences of ‘Pookal Pookkum Tharunam’ (Madharasapattinam with the same combination of Harini and GVP). The song is a cherry-pick of this album.

Vaan Mazhaiyin Thuligal...
Vocals: Unni Krishnan, Sudha Raghunathan

The song sticks to the same musical genre as the other songs in the album with GVP making use of same instruments. But sudden introduction of Chenda Melam evokes our interest. The vocalisms by Unni Krishnan and Sudha Raghunathan are good at places. But the loud rhythmic sessions trivialize their finest renditions. The highlighting traits of the song are the mild notes of vibes played along with the vocals that embellishes the song.

Jai Jai Madha Sonthasi Madha...
Vocals: Vijay Yesudas

Sounds like a situational track focalizing on father’s farewell to daughter for her journey of revival. Vijay Yesudas croons commendably, but the music is a little loud, perhaps demanded by the situation. The song lacks the basic feel of emotions that are very well delineated through Na. Muthukumar’s lyrics. Maybe with visuals, we can expect some better results. The song’s reprise version is heard during the end of album with the different title ‘Pooyevaa Magale Pooyevaa’

Chinnanchiru Idhayathil...
Vocals: Vijay Prakash, Prashanthini

G.V. Prakash utilizes newfangled rhythmic pattern completely dissimilar from rest of the songs. The mellisonant duet has Vijay Prakash rendering with a different style. The young and vibrant playback singer is far-famed for his high-voltage numbers like ‘Veera’ (Raavanan), ‘Hosanna’ (Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya). He has attempted something new like crooning with his bass voice, but gradually touches higher octaves at places. The rhythmic aspects and mild instrumentals enhance the intensity of romantic feel delivered through the singers. The song sets into our senses like slow poison and it’s gonna be a special melodic delight for the listeners.

Verdict:

Having churned out back-to-back chartbusters with ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’, ‘Madharasapattinam’ and ‘Aadukalam’, G.V. Prakash has boldly taken up an experimental project. Hats off to GVP for his endeavouring attempt on trying new genre of Carnatic, which is precisely rare of its kind in Tamil film industry. With ‘Poovin Manam’, ‘Vaan Mazhaiyin Thuligal’ and ‘Chinnanchiru Idhayathil’ being highly noticeable numbers, the album can expect some good responses.

Theneer Viduthi Music Review

Theneer Viduthi - Aromatic & Native based

Thanks IndiaGlitz

‘Theneer Viduthi’ is making a vibe with decent tracks boasts of good melodies; S.S. Kumaran who delivered genuine numbers in the past had done a reliable work in this album.

1. Mellanna Siripalo - Listen here

Singer: Kousik, Mirudula

‘Mellanna Siripalo’, is quite an interesting track as it starts on an exotic mode comprising of saxophone and piano followed by Kousik’s top-notching vocalism, the singer has done justice with this song. Murugan Manthiram’s lyrics are catchy; however the children chorus phase is not much appealing perhaps the movie demands it.

2. Ennavo Pannudhu - Listen here

Singers: SS. Kumaran, Chinmayee, Shuruthi, Malavika

‘Ennavo Pannudhu’, is a typical native theme based song. Nowadays a lot of albums are coming up in this genre so this type of music becomes a cliché in our industry. The melody part is fine and so is the lyrical lines penned by Murugan Manthiram. Perhaps, S.S. Kumaran could have stayed away from rendering this number perhaps a singer like Srinivas or Karthik would have been better choice while the female singers have done their parts well.

3. Oru Maalai Pozhudhinil - Listen here

Singer: Sona Mohabatra

‘Oru Maalai Pozhudhinil’, is the kind of a song where you might have heard a lot in 90s. Everything is perfect in this song when it comes to music or lyrics or the singer. Sona Mohabatra made this song so lively kudos to her, as she sticks to the core of the song by inducing the emotional pathos of a girl so sensibly. Listen to the instrumental version of ‘Oru Maalai Pozhudhinil’ and you are sure to fall in love with the melodious flute and violins.

4. Uyirodu Uravadi - Listen here

Singer: SS Kumaran

‘Uyirodu Uravadi’, isn’t captivating as the previous numbers. Though the musical part is impressive, we don’t find the vocal part to be a commendable one. S.S.Kumaran stumbles down the way while crooning the song with his bass voice. Maybe, he can try his luck with the songs that has some high pitches.

5. Ye Evan Panthakaaran - Listen here

Singer: Yash Golcha

‘Ye Evan Panthakaaran’, is a peppy song that will make high at places if the visuals are done on par with excellence. S.S. Kumaran has nailed the lyrics for this short-duration song. The interlude parts over the whistle and beats are overwhelming; not to miss out Yash Golcha’s thriving voice and his energy which makes the song listen even more worthwhile.

Overall, ‘Theneer Viduthi’, comes with a good package of sound tracks where it as the best ones like ‘Oru Maalai Pozhudhinil’ and its instrumental version are just sways us away with music and melody.

Singam Puli - Mani (Sharma) makes many things
IndiaGlitz

Whenever Mani Sharma, a top music composer in Tollywood, works for a Tamil film, he would ensure that he gives nothing but his best. Toeing the line of ‘Youth’, ‘Pokkiri’ and ‘Sura’, he has ensured in ‘Singam Puli’ too that the album has something in store for everyone who loves entertaining music.

Interestingly, this is not the first time for Mani Sharma to score music for a Jiiva starrer. During the initial days of the actor in filmdom, it was he who had composed tunes for ‘Aasai Asaiyai’.

With a young brigade of singers such as Rahul Nambiar, Ranjith, Karthik, Sainthavi and Rita at the helm of affairs, ‘Singam Puli’ audio album presents a variety fare. A song by song look awaits below:

1.Figaru...
Singer: Naveen
Lyrics: Viveka

A faithful rehash of ‘Hare Rama…’ of ‘Okkadu’ (‘Ghillie’ original version), the song speaks the mind of a happy go lucky youngster. Presumably the intro song of Jiiva, Viveka’s lyrics and Naveen’s rendition add more fuel to the peppiness.

2.Poove Poove...
Singer: Rahul Nambiar
Lyrics: Viveka

Rahul Nambiar simply mesmerises with his meliflous voice in this melody. Mani Sharma, known for the evergreen ‘Chakkarai Nilave….’, has carefully crafted this song, which has all the qualities to attract those in love.

3.Varrale...
Singers: Ranjith, Sainthavi
Lyrics: Annamalai

Here comes the much awaited kuthu number, which would presumably have the ‘mass’ Jiiva (he is playing a dual role in ‘Singam Puli’) shaking the legs. Ranjith and Sainthavi’s voices give that much needed energy to the number.

4.Kangalal...
Singers: Karthik, Rita
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

Na Muthukumar’s pen is a magic wand. The lyricist proves this once again in ‘Kangalal…’, a song which is ably complemented by Karthik and Rita. Mani Sharma’s touch is visible (read audible) all over.

5.Ullasame...
Singers: Ranjith, Janani
Lyrics: Sai Ramani

Ranjith is at work once again, this time in the company of Janani. A stylish, fast song, ‘Ullasame….’ can be heard for the sounds used by Mani Sharma. Adding more pep to the already peppy song are the English lyrics.

6.Naadilla...
Singer: Mukesh
Lyrics: Viveka

The closing ceremony of the album is with ‘Nadilla…’. Mani Sharma seems to have spent more time in this fast number which is a collage of local and foreign music. Mukesh chips in with high energy which he passes on to the listener too.

To sum it up, ‘Singam Puli’ songs mark the presence of Mani Sharma with a bang.

Ayyan Music Review

Ayyan - Time no bar for Evergreen Music

IndiaGlitz [Thursday, February 03, 2011]

Illayaraja has been a prominent composer of film music in south Indian cinema since the late 1970s, he integrated folk lyricism (in Tamil) and introduced broader Western musical sensibilities into the south Indian musical mainstream.

When it comes to ‘Ayyan’, the music maestro has done a good job with certain tracks. It has his brilliance only in slices, with only two stand out songs.

1. Yai Sivakami - Listen here

Singers: Rahul Nambiar, Rita

‘Yai Sivakami’, remains me of 70s song, it’s not very much not up to the expectation. This track is little disappointing as the song has high folk beats. Listening to this song you can really flashback your memories to your past where you might have heard a similar song like this.

2. Unmaiyae Naan - Listen here

Singer: Maya

‘Unmaiyae Naan’, sung by Maya has really did a fair job. This track has simplicity when it comes to music and lyrics.

3. Enakena Ooruthy - Listen here

Singer: Rahul Nambiar

Raaja sir’s makes his comeback by blowing trumpets and weaves magic in ‘Enakena ooruthy’, which was beautifully sung by Rahul Nambiar. It’s a romantic track where the flute soothes you to melody. This song makes you to listen again and again. Our music composer really scores in this track as this song is apparently a hit.

4. Manasoram - Listen here

Singers: Sadhna Sargam and Sriram Parthasarathy

‘Manasoram’, has the bygone charm of Ilayaraja, with a melodious rendition by Sadhna Sargam and Sriram Parthasarathy makes this song a delight to listen. The song is full of gratifying melodies soaked in love, but amidst underwhelming arrangements.

5. Katrinai Polingu - Listen here

Singer: Tippu

‘Katrinai Polingu’, is a transient track that is neither middling nor interesting, but it does have shades of Ilayaraja’s brilliance, not tunewise, but in modulations. Tippu’s voice modulation and singing is appropriate.

6. Viduthalaikuyil Naan - Listen here

Singers: Illayaraja, Nehga

‘Viduthalaikuyil Naan’, is a liberation track in Ilayaraja’s style, that is templatized for most parts. But you never should miss out the maestro singing, and at his age, he stuns you with his rendition, Nehga does a neat job.

Kadhal 2 Kalyanam Music Review – A pleasing effort by Yuvan

kadhal 2 kalyanam Music Review
Kadhal 2 Kalyanam Music Review

Song: Ithu Kadhalai Irinthidumo

Singers: Benny Dayal, Chinmayi

Rating: 4/5

The song has a very techno vibe to it with the bass emphasized thoroughly through the song, the break away sections create a great contrast thanks t the romantic melodies interwoven beautifully, but to be honest this was far away from the melodic songs Yuvan could deliver. Benny Dayal has to be appreciated for a good job and so has Chinmayi.

Song: Natpin kadhaigalai

Singers: Krish

Rating: 4/5

A Latin arrangement here, this one is so soothing you know this is what precisely what a melody and the accompanying rhythm can do when they prefer to be simple yet musical. We love to hum this tune, it has a very modern vibe too it certainly. We think Yuvan loves experimenting using effects on the vocals every now and bringing subtle changes to the vocal texture with the spooky effects. Good job Krish we like your execution in this one. A special one indeed.

Song: Naa Vetta Pora Aadu

Singers: Yuvan Shankar Raja, Roshini

Rating: 3/5

Hey Yuvan! you love singing your rap don’t you? This track has a peppy vibe to it, with enormous beats doing their job backing Yuvan’s rhythmic singing. Well, Yuvan is the limelight in this one and Roshini does her assigned job well. Good rhythm and voice modulation happens yet again when Roshini comes in for the concluding parts in the song although Yuvan is singing throughout.

Song: Vellai Koda

Singers: SP Balasubramaiam and SP Charan

Rating: 3/5

What can we say about this number, we were mesmerized and it is the perfect one to sing along to while have you a walk in the park munching your summer ice cream. Try doing it if you haven’t yet!

The ice-cream can only get more sweeter, what’s there to lose anyway.

Song: Thedi Varuven

Singer: Toshi

Rating: 3/5

Here is an up tempo track that seemed promising, but we really won’t say it is the best in the album, there are the guitars backing the song. Actually on a second thought we think it is the perfect song for a band like setup. With drums and the guitars doing their job well. Folks, there is still no news of the guitarist who played this one so if you come in touch with him let us know guys, he definitely deserves a big hug from us. Is Yuvan in plans to start a band soon we wonder?

Song: Enakkaaga unakkaaga

Singer: Naresh Iyer

Rating: 3/5

So here is Naresh Iyer finally singing along with the gorgeous Andrea Jeremiah, but we were so disappointed that after starting the song with so many ‘mickey mouse’ effects on Naresh Iyer’s vocals we could hardly make out it was Andrea singing who met a similar fate. Yuvan Sir you you could have spared her lovely voice. Moments later we hear her voice untreated and are definitely happy about it. As the song progress there are many tweaks that happen throughout and it bends towards an easy going song with many frequency manipulation effects, just imagine the dj’s going crazy twisting the knobs.

Everything’s going to be ok seems to be the message this one brings along and hence the album concludes on a hopeful ending.

Verdict:

Kadhal 2 Kalyanam is surely a well produced album and Yuvan has a love for playing around with the vocals of his singers particularly , some of the songs are really standing out and provide the much needed contrast to the whole album .Have a listen guys you will certainly like it, it may be disappointing for a few that there are no kuthu numbers in here, for that there is always Mani Sharma. You know guys Kollytalk always has recommendations for all types of listeners.

Stay hooked and come back for a discussion on daddy Ilayaraja’s album Azhagarsamiyin Kudhirai soon.Until then have a great time.

KULLANARI KOOTAM MUSIC REVIEW
Review by : Divya Murali

Starring: Vishnu, Remya Nambesan, Appukutty

Direction: Sri Balaji

Music: Selvaganesh

Production: Aasish Jain

Vocals: Karthik, Chinmayi, Krishna Iyer, Mukesh, Hariharan, Shankar Mahadevan, Rashmi, Kalpana

Lyrics: Na.Muthukumar, V. Elango, Suryaprabhakar

Directed by Sri Balaji and produced by Aasish Jain, Kullanari Kootam stars Vishnu and Remya Nambesan in the lead along with a huge cast. A film that is set in Madurai, but one that has nothing to do with violence or revenge, as the movie makers claim that it does not even have a villain. So we are bound to wonder how the songs will be for a soft and breezy Madurai film like this one. Tuned by Carnatic percussionist Selvaganesh who has given some delightful music in the films Venilla Kabadi Kuzhu and Kola Kolaya Mundirika, the music was launched by Maestro AR Rahman at his studio in a very low profile affair.

Vizhigalile…
Singers: Karthik,Chinmayi.
Lyrics: Na.Muthukumar.

The song begins with captivating soft beats as flute notes breeze through, giving way to Chinmayi’s melodious voice. Karthik and Chinmayi blend with perfection to make the song retain its melody throughout. The strong point of the song is the instrumental medley that comes before the second stanza. Can become an addiction, just for the singers’ voices and the intelligent use of instruments.

Aadugira Maatai…
Singers: Krishna Iyer, Mukesh
Lyrics: V. Elango

The song opens with the drawling voice of Mukesh and 15 seconds into the song, we hear the familiar kuthu music that sounds apt for the lyrics. No surprises here, the usual percussion instruments and nadaswaram make their presence felt all through the song. But despite all this, the song is something that will make you want to tap your feet along until the very end. Given the popularity of kuthu songs, this number will be on the charts and on TV for quite some time.

Kadhal Enbadhai…
Singers: Hariharan
Lyrics: Suryaprabhakar

Hariharan impresses yet again and melts your heart with his soft voice. The song is slow paced with an interesting and rare mix of wind instruments and percussion beats that we have previously heard in the impressive Thoda Thoda Malarnthathenna from Indira. Hariharan has scored yet another hit song, for it hangs on around for a while after the song ends.

Kullanari Kootam…
Singers: Shankar Mahadevan
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

The super fast song gets over before you realize it, for Shankar Mahadevan’s peppiness oozes in every line and he just steers you through it in break neck speed. The song has nothing new about it and will work only if shot differently well.

Acham…
Singers: Rashmi, Kalpana
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

The song surprises you with two crisp and husky female voices, symbolizing freedom of women. The lyrics, overall, conveys, “Why should men have all the fun?” and it is sure to make the women listeners happy. The song definitely stands out in terms of novelty, but the question is - will the listeners like an unconventional number that lacks uniformity.

AZHAGARSAMIYIN KUDHIRAI MUSIC REVIEW
Review by : Sureshkumar

Starring: Appukutty, Saranya Mohan

Direction: Suseenthiran

Music: Ilaiyaraja

Production: P. Madhan

Vocals: Ilayaraja, Thanjai Selvi, Snehan, Leninbharathi, Hemambika, Murugan, Ayyappan, Master Reegan, Senthildas, Anita, Karthik, Shreya Ghoshal

Lyrics: Francis Kiruba J, Yugabharathi

There were huge expectations, when we heard the news about Ilayaraja composing music for a film titled “Azhagarsamiyin Kudhirai” and directed by Suseendran (the one who made “Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu”). Ilayaraja has met with the expectations and how!

song: Kudhikkira
Singer: Ilayaraja
Lyricist: Francis Kiruba J

Ilayaraja’s in-character singing apart, Kudhikkira song’s melody and rhythm have an innate innocence, chirpiness and charm from the beginning. The flow with which the song reaches the part “Rotti Vaikatta, Jodi Katti Vaikatta” and proceeds from thereon to interlude, brought a smile to my face. Ilayaraja provides dense layers of rhythms, bass and orchestration and yet they come together to sprinkle a feather like breezy mood. Interludes are packed with delightful parade of melodies. The song on the whole is orchestrated with an ear pleasing combination of Synth and acoustic layers - that used to be always at odds with each other in Ilayaraja’s songs sometime ago. That layer of strings, which bows in support of the lead melody, somewhat hesitantly in the beginning, and more freely latter, is the reason why we still eagerly wait for an Ilayaraja soundtrack.

song: Adiye Ivale
Singer: Thanjai Selvi, Snehan, Leninbharathi, Hemambika, Murugan, Ayyappan, Master Reegan, Senthildas, Anita
Lyricist: Snehan

While our so-called sensible film makers move towards authentic Tamil folk songs in the films, in Adiyae Ivalae Ilayaraja walks the line between “Karumathur Kattukkullae” (Virumandi) and “Kodi Yetthi Vaippom” (Pithamagan). Ilayaraja swings between his signature filmy folk style - that has additional ornamental instruments, and authentic folk that has only those instruments that are used for such performance in real. I hope at least this time, the song features in the film.

song: Poovakaelu
Singer: Karthik, Shreya Ghoshal
Lyricist: Yugabharathi

In “Poovakaelu” song, the first stanza ends with Karthik stretching the words “Poovakkaelu” and “Kaathukkaelu” and going by the rule book, the song should proceed to the interlude, but it does not without repeating the first line in its original form, thereby bringing the charanam to a satisfactory closure. The song is full of such little surprises. The percussions – the solo Ghatam in the beginning, the snare that gently hits and misses our ear drums in the latter portions of the song, the Celtic violin fillers that every line of the song is entailed with, Raaja’s typical electric guitar strains and piano puddings, create a magical mood space that a listener would love to lose themselves into.

Verdict: The songs of “Azhagharsamiyin Kudhirai” were composed after Suseendran shot the entire film. He showed the entire film to Ilayaraja and asked him compose songs wherever he feels necessary. That is how a film soundtrack has to be made and when it is made that way, with a composer like Ilayaraja, you get what could be called the real Movie soundtrack. Azhagharsamiyin Kudhirai is a real movie Soundtrack.

Review by : R.Richard Mahesh

Starring: Str, Anushka, Bharath, Vega, Santhanam

Direction: Krish

Music: Yuvan Shankar Raja

Production: Cloud Nine Movies (Dhayanidhi Azhagiri)

Vocals: Silambarasan, Yuvan Shankar Raja, Abhishek, Lawrence, Benny Dayal, Andrea, Srikanth Deva

Lyrics: Silambarasan, U1, Na. Muthukumar, Abhishek, Lawrence

Evandi Unna Pethan
Vocals: Silambarasan, Yuvan Shankar Raja
Lyrics: Silambarasan, U1

Overpoweringly attractive is the simple verdict to mark ‘Evandi Unna Pethan’ for its electrifying beats and an excellent sound engineering. Silambarasan’s lyrical lines are catchy but he could have limited himself from certain lines. This track has become the favorite amongst youngsters. The accompaniment by bass guitar adds more intensity to the song. It’s a perfect song for the party animals.

Vaanam
Vocals: Yuvan Shankar Raja
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

This is the cherry-pick of the album as it establishes the soul of this film. Having worked on the song nearly for three months, Yuvan Shankar Raja has come up with a remarkable performance. Na. Muthukumar has penned the song based on philosophical theme of ‘Where God is? Nowhere but in the hearts of those who repent for their sins’. Sounds like the song will appear during the crucial point of this film. The mild and beautiful chords played on guitar followed by distorted guitar heard during interludes embellish the song. ‘Vaanam’ is one of the best compositions of Yuvan Shankar Raja. The producers should have got this number as single-track album as it would have gained more attraction for the movie.

Cable Raja
Vocals: Abhishek, Lawrence
Lyrics: Abhishek, Lawrence

A mass number exclusively meant for STR fans. It sounds like an introduction song for Silambarasan and it is reminiscent of Yuvan Shankar Raja’s yesteryear song ‘Variya’ (Pudhupettai). The song includes the titles of Simbhu’s previous and upcoming movies.

Who Am I
Vocals: Benny Dayal
Lyrics: Na. Muthukuma

Yuvan takes us for a ride through heavy metals and live drums that sound perfectly as a rock number. The lyrical lines centers upon a young man’s quest of himself just as the title signify ‘Who Am I?’ It may take some more time for the song to get its hold upon the listeners. The reason is because the instrumentals sound louder, thereby eclipsing the clarity of lyrics. Perhaps, if the essence of song is perceived clearly by listeners, it’s sure to make its way on top of charts. It sounds like the song is about a character confused to decide between his dreams and outside influences.

No Money. No Honey
Vocals: Silambarasan, Andrea, Srikanth Deva
Lyrics: Na. Muthukuma

A time-worn song that speaks about ‘Role of Money’ in everyone’s life and it’s an unstrained effort from entire team. Years back, we have come across a similar song titled ‘Chenna Pattanam’ from the film ‘Allithantha Vaanam’. Simbhu and Yuvan have picked a part of tune from ‘Nalam Thaana’ (Silambattam). With the song involving Simbhu, Anushka, Santhanam and producer Ganesh, we can expect that the song will gain more attraction with the visuals. Andrea steps out of her usual pattern of crooning melodious numbers and experiments with a fast-Kuthu number.

Verdict: ‘Vaanam’ can be regarded as one of the Yuvan’s better composition and it is sure to make high waves now. While ‘Evandi Unna Pethan’, ‘Vaanam’ and ‘Who Am I’ touches the surpassing degrees on different styles, ‘Cable Raja’ and ‘No Money’ caters to the tastes of mass audiences.

MAPPILLAI MUSIC REVIEW
Review by : Behindwoods Review Board

Starring: Dhanush, Hansika Motwani, Vivek, Manisha Koirala

Direction: Suraj

Music: Mani Sharma

Production: Sun Pictures

Vocals: Rahul, Rita, Mukesh, Saindavi, Ranjith, Vijay Yesudas

Lyrics: Snehan, Pa. Vijay, Viveka, Gangai Amaran

Mappillai stars Hansika Motwani opposite Dhanush and also has Manisha Koirala playing his haughty mother-in-law. It is directed by Suraj and is a remake of Rajinikanth's 1989 film of the same name. Comedian Vivek will tickle our funny bones and Asish Vidyarthi, 'Kadhal' Dhandapani will play prominent roles. Knowing the genre, music by Mani Sharma won’t have much role of play except for glorifying the hero's image.

Aaru Padai…
Vocals: Vijay Yesudas, Mukesh;
Lyrics: Viveka

Lyrics of this song seem to re-emphasize on the fact that Dhanush is god fearing. Sung by a soft voiced Vijay Yesudas on the praise of Lord Muruga, this should give a colourful, superstar like intro for the hero. Apart from this, it is just the usual Nadaswaram and Thavil that we hear.

Love Love…
Vocals: Rahul, Rita;
Lyrics: Snehan

Mani Sharma’s trademark beats heard throughout. Rahul and Rita’s energetic singing will give scope for great dancing from the lead pair. Such songs have become a rage before and this might follow suit.

Onnu Rendu…
Vocals: Mukesh, Saindavi;
Lyrics: Pa. Vijay

Two things about this song- dappankuthu and Saindavi! The heavy usage of instruments almost camouflages the singing. Foot tapping to an extent, the song’s fate depends on its visuals.

Ennoda Rasi…
Vocals: Ranjith & Chorus;
Lyrics: Gangai Amaran

Filled with painfully familiar music once again, this ends up being a tasteless cocktail of percussion beats, nadaswaram strains and Ranjith’s voice. Mani Sharma has failed to give variety.

Ready Readya…
Vocals: Ranjith, Saindavi;
Lyrics: Snehan

We have heard this before haven’t we? Well, that’s how usual this song sounds. With soft keyboard tunes and peppy beats it bears resemblance to ‘Namma Kaatula’ from the movie Pattiyal. Should be a hit, for the song is foot tapping but definitely not novel.

Ready Readya (Remix)...
Vocals: Ranjith & Chorus;
Lyics: Snehan

This is a slightly faster version of original song and that’s about it. Few western beats are thrown in here and there and the use of chorus works in favour.

Mapillai Theme Song
Vocals: Ranjith & Chorus

Has less of singing and more of instruments. This will be popular for the lyrics that nuance Dhanush’s mass image and that’s it.

Verdict: An average album whose success depends heavily on the visuals.

Noor, Mukesh
Lyrics: Na.Muthukumar, Pon Eravindhan, S.A. Nanakaravel, Uvari. K. Sukumar, Andal Priyadarshini, Kabilan

Actor Vimal who has been riding high on success with back to back hits like Pasanga and Kalavaani is back with the film Ethan. The film is produced by ‘Kalavaani’ Nazir under the banner Sherali films and has story, screenplay, dialogues and direction by L.Suresh. Sanusha of Renigunta fame is Vimal’s love interest and Jayaprakash plays a substantial role. Music has been scored by new comer Taj Noor.

Mazhaiyudhir Kaalam...
Vocals: Vijay Yesudas, Saindhavi
Lyrics: Na.Muthukumar

The eclectic chemistry between the singers’ voices is the stand out factor. The usual melody and soft instrumentals, this song soothes but has nothing novel.

Kannadasan...
Vocals: Ananthu, Solarsai, Sri Ranjani
Lyrics: Pon Eravindhan

Attention grabbing ‘dappankuthu’ with a medley of new voices. The very familiar ‘saavu melam’ bit recurs every now and then. This song might work its way into the charts.

Ethan Kalambittanya...
Vocals: MLR Karthikeyan, Bhagyaraj, Rap Remi, NM Akthar
Lyrics: S.A. Nanakaravel

Rap Remi is the newest ‘rap’ kid in the block! A foot tapping number loaded with western beats and Tamil lyrics, the song’s best quality is its short duration. An absolute party song!

Sivappu Thamaraiye...
Vocals: Ananthu
Lyrics: Uvari. K. Sukumar

Pretty much novel compared to what we have been hearing so long, this turns out to be an impressive solo number. Soft strains of tambura in between the song make it all the more lovely.

Kalaiyile Kan Vizhichu...
Vocals: Vel Murugan
Lyrics: Andal Priyadarshini

This song is in the lines of Ilaiyaraja’s Thenpaandi Cheemaiyile. A short number, it is commendable for the sober voice of the singer and the arrangement of the instruments.

Jim Jim Para Para...
Vocals: Mathangi, Roopa, Taj Noor
Lyrics: Andal Priyadarshini

A hassle free song with a mix of folk and local beats. A small piece of instrumental music (should I call it music?) keeps recurring all through the song and that sounds curiously like a dysfunctional vehicle horn. Just a dance number and nothing more.

Kadana Kodutha Nanba...
Vocals: Mukesh
Lyrics: Kabilan

It seems heavily inspired from a lot of songs that it is hard to point out any particular song that sounds like this one. A youthful number with lyrics that is sure to hit the right note with young men and boys.

Verdict: A variety fare

Avan Ivan Music Review
Avan Ivan - Yuvan, heaven
IndiaGlitz [Wednesday, April 20, 2011]

It takes either lIlayaraja or Yuvan Shankar Raja to compose music for a Bala film. Or at least this is the trend from ‘Sethu’ till ‘Avan Ivan’ and let’s hope this would continue to give us good music.

Coming to the just launched ‘Avan Ivan’ album, it is a collection of five songs, carefully crafted by Yuvan to cater to the demands of Bala. For, in the music composer’s own words, “It’s hard to satisfy Bala sir with tunes but he is happy with the output for Avan Ivan.”

1. Rasathi - Listen here

Singer: Haricharan

Haricharan’s voice gels well with Na Muthukumar’s words to present us a beautiful song, which eminently speaks about Yuvan’s talent. Describing the feeling of love, the song starts on a mild note and picks up momentum as it progresses. And it captures a place in our heart too.

2. Dia Dia Dole - Listen here

Singer: Suchithra

What else can a bubbly song could we expect when it is Suchitra at the helm of affairs. Dance lovers can’t stop shaking their legs while listening to this folk number, which, in other words, can also be described as Tamil rap.

3. Oru Malayoram - Listen here

Singers: Vijay Yesudas, Baby Priyanka, Baby Srinisa & Baby Nithyashree

If the first two are solo numbers, here comes a song crooned by Vijay Yesudas in the company of three young singers. A soothing melody, ‘Oru Malayoram…’ could take you to a wonderland if you listen to it by closing your eyes. And you might also see Illayaraja there.

4. Mudhal Murai - Listen here

Singer: Vijay Prakash

A typical Bala song, expressing the grief of life. Vijay Prakash has given the number the right modulation, with Yuvanshankar Raja’s music and Muthukumar’s lyrics adding more emotions.

5. Avanapathi - Listen here

Singers: T L Maharajan & Sathyan

An energetic end to the album, ‘Avanapathi…’ is celebration of effervescent beats. Arya and Vishal should have danced together for this number on screen. The song pumps in loads of energy right from the beginning till the end.

Songs from Bala’s films never failed to disappoint us. The director has repeated the magic this time too and the credit goes to Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Deiva Thirumagan Music Review

Deiva Thirumagan - Direct to heart

IndiaGlitz [Monday, April 18, 2011]

Bharathiraja- Illayaraja. Mani Ratnam- A R Rahman. Gautham Vasudev Menon- Harris Jayaraj. Selvaraghavan- Yuvan Shankar Raja. There is one more pair to join this elite list and as you would have guessed it right by this time, they are Vijay and G V Prakash Kumar.

It would be clichéd to say that the duo has recreated its ‘Kireedam’ and ‘Madraspattinam’ magic in ‘Deiva Thirumagan’, the Vikram starrer. For the album sets a new benchmark in terms of a complete fusion and certain new things have been attempted all through.

1. Kadhai Solla Poraen - Listen here

Singers: Vikram, Shringa S

Lyrics: Na Muthukumar

The singer in Vikram is in full form. With the funny lyrics all set to catch the attention of kids, it is a different experience to listen to Vikram here. In other words, a story has been narrated in a song, in a simple and elegant way.

2. Vizhigalil Oru Vanavil - Listen here

Singer: Saindhavi

Lyrics: Na Muthukumar

A special song in many aspects with the main highlight being Saindhavi, G V Prakash Kumar’s sweetheart. A soft number, Saindhavi’ voice just leaves us mesmerised. Remember it is the same song which made Anushka, on whom the number was shot, to cry on the sets.

3. Pa..Pa..Pa - Listen here

Singer: Vikram

Lyrics: Na Muthukumar

The multi-talented Cheeyan is back as a singer again. This time for a chirpy song, which expresses a father’s happiness. G V Prakash Kumar has tried his hands at blending folk with Western music in this number, which strikes a magic.

4. Vennilave - Listen here

Singer: G V Prakash Kumar

Lyrics: Na Muthukumar

Music composers normally don’t sing ordinary numbers. Vennilave… is a perfect example to it. It is one of the best songs in the album with Prakash adding value to it with his music and voice as well. Watch out for guitar bits, which are not totally new, but nice.

5. Jagada Thom... Listen here

Singers: S P Balasubramaniam, Maya, Rajesh

Lyrics: Na Muthukumar

If there is SPB around, nothing else is needed to push a song forward. But G V Prakash Kumar was apparently not ready to take things easy. In the company of a legend, he has presented a well orchestrated record song. Maya and Rajesh have accompanied SPB well.

6. Aarariro - Listen here

Singers: Haricharan, Chorus

Lyrics: Na Muthukumar

Lullabies had a special place in Tamil cinema till a decade ago. Filling the gap is Aarariro…, thanks to G V Prakash and Haricharan. The usage of flute and other instruments elevates the song to new height. Can be rated as one of Haricharan’s best.

7. Life is Beautiful - Listen here

(Theme Music)

Come what may life is to live, they say. The essence of life is in the way it is lived. The theme music attempts to tell these things in a more beautiful way, with violin, whistle and flute coming to G V Prakash’s help. The music composer succeeds again.

To sum it up, songs from ‘Deiva Thirumagan’ is a treat to music lovers and a feast to the fans of Vikram and GVP.

Maaveeran - Andhra Avakai
IndiaGlitz [Thursday, April 28, 2011]

There is one common thing between Andhra's food and its films- spiciness. And 'Magadheera' is the mother of all masala films the Telugu desam had ever produced.

If trade sources are to be believed, this Ramcharan Teja-Kajal Agarwal starrer is the biggest hit in Telugu as it grossed nearly Rs 118 crore, making it the only film in Tollywood to collect more than Rs 100 crore.

So expectations are naturally high when the movie, directed by S S Rajamouli and music composed by Maragdhamani, is set to speak in Tamil, as 'Maaveeran'. With the audio getting formally launched a couple of days ago, here we present a song-by-song look.

1. Ponnana Kozhi Ponnu - Listen here

Singers: Ranjith, Janaki Iyer

Lyricist: Vaali

If it is 'Podhuvaga en manasu thangam...' for Rajinikanth, it's 'Bangaru kodi petta...' for Chiranjeevi. So there is no wonder in this 'Gharana Mogudu' song getting a new touch for the Megastar's son Ramcharan Teja. Coming to the Tamil version, Vaali's youthful lines, in the company of effervescent voices (courtesy Ranjith and Janaki Iyer), make one to tap the foot, if not to dance. Maragadhamani has repeated the magic. A bubbly opening to the album.

2. Vandinathai Summa Summa - Listen here

Singers: R Jeyadev, Janaki Iyer

Lyricist: Vaali

A boy chases girl number, rendered by R Jeyadev and followed by Janaki Iyer, 'Vandhinathai Summa Summa...' impresses us immensely. Folk and Western instruments have been blended well, while violin is apt. It is a light, kind of contemporary song with a nostalgic interlude in between.

3. Aasai Aasai - Listen here

Singers: R Jeyadev, Janaki Iyer

Lyricist: Vaali

More sensual and ostensibly a duet in a different circumstance, 'Aasai Aasai...' has that sound that seems to belong to a bygone era. And we could understand the reason, as this is partly a period-film. Jeyadev and Janaki compliment well the lines of Vaali in a song that takes one to the era of the kings.

4. Pidichirukku - Listen here

Singers: R Jeyadev, Janaki Iyer

Lyricist: ARP Jayaram

A trendy number, this song is about a lover admiring the love showered by the sweetheart. Jeyadev and Janaki Iyer are at it again, adding certain zing to the number. Maragadhamani is always credited with knowing the pulse of the audience and he proves it here.

5. Pesavey Pesatha - Listen here

Singers: Manicka Vinayagam, R Jeyadev, Janaki Iyer

Lyricist: ARP. Jayaram

South Indian Daler Mehndi Manicka Vinayagam, by joining hands with Jeyadev and Janaki Iyer, presents a peppy number, which should apparently be an item song. The song is energetic due to the high pitch but at the same time maintains a medium pace despite being a dance number.

6. Kadha Kadha Kadha Kadha - Listen here

Singers: R Jeyadev, Janaki Iyer

Lyricist: ARP Jayaram

The song speaks about the story of 'Maaveeran' and the team behind it. If our guess is right, it should appear when the 'end card' is rolling on screen. Lyricist Jayaram has faithfully lived up to the original lines with Jeyadev and Janaki Iyer doing what Maragadhamani expected out of them. A fast number again.

7. Vandhaney - Listen here

Singer: Janaki Iyer

Lyricist: ARP Jayaram

Women are more emotional than men, they say. This song perhaps tries to prove this point. Janaki Iyer's voice expresses well the feelings of a girl in love. Maragadhamani has tuned the song so that those who are and who were in love would be reminded of their romance. A soothing melodious song.

8. Veera - Listen here

Singer: Janaki Iyer

Lyricist: ARP Jayaram

A warrior and his war is described by his ladylove, in a soft and touching voice. Janaki Iyer has conquered completely 'Maaveeran' album and her rule continues in this small, yet sweet number too.

9. Unai Serndhidavey - Listen here

Singers: R Jeyadev, Janaki Iyer

Lyricist: ARP Jayaram

With interludes from 'Aasai Aasai...', this one is again a more than one minute number, which throws light on the affection of a man on a woman, even after births. Jeyadev's voice, with Janaki Iyer's humming in the background, gives a different experience.

'Maaveeran' songs, on the whole, is a mix of peppy, soft, contemporary and stylish numbers. It's like tasting mouthwatering dishes at a hotel in the heartland of Andhra Pradesh.

180 MUSIC REVIEW
Review by : Behindwoods Review Board

Starring: Siddharth, Nithya Menen, Priya Anand
Direction: Jayendra
Music: Sharreth
Production: Kiran Reddy,Swaroop Reddy,C Srikanth
Vocals: Tippu, Vidhu Prathap, Chithra, S Sowmya, Unni Menon, Sharreth, Ramya S Kapadia, Ravishankar, Karthik, Swetha Mohan
Lyrics: Karky, Viveka

‘180’ marks Siddharth’s second innings in Tamil cinema. This movie directed by popular ad film maker Jayendra, is a joint production of Satyam Cinemas and Aghal films. Priya Anand and Nithya Menen play the female leads. Music has been scored by popular Malayalam film musician Sharreth and the songs he performed at the audio launch were appreciated. Here is a closer look at the album.

Rules Kidayathu…
Vocals: Tippu
Lyricis: Karky

The unique, effervescent ensemble of drums compliment the high pitched ever energetic Tippu beautifully. The abrupt pauses and soft sounding music in between add on to the beauty. Definitely one to watch out for!

AJ…
Vocals: Vidhu Prathap & Ramya S.Kapadia
Lyricis: Karky

A mix of melody and pep, this one surprises us. Lovely key board tunes, peppered with soft voices and peppy music, make a perfect cocktail - an absolute treat for listeners who love experimental music.

Santhikaatha Kangalil Inbangal…
Vocals: Chithra, S.Sowmya & Unni Menon
Lyricis: Karky

A strong classical flavor underlines the entire song. Dominated by mridangam, chenda and carnatic notes, the attractions are the lovely voices of Chithra, Sowmya and Unni Menon - a foot tapping melody that we usually enjoy in live kutcheris.

Nyayam Thana…
Vocals: Sharreth
Lyricis: Viveka

Drums once again, but the usage here is much different from ‘Rules Kidayathu’. Sharreth’s voice is unique and catchy. Though the song might not impress you immediately, give it a couple of hearings for the commendable composition.

Rathe Rathe…
Vocals: Ramya S Kapadia & Ravishankar
Lyricis: Viveka

A short number with classical base. Nothing much to write about.

Nee Korinal…
Vocals: Karthik & Swetha Mohan
Lyricis: Karky

Everything about this - the music, the lyrics and the arrangement spice up the feeling of ‘love’. An absolute delight, this is sure to top the charts and add on to Karthik’s list of hits! Lyrics by Karky are refreshing. It goes like this- ‘Nee Korinaal Vaanam Maaradha, Dhinam Theeramale Megam Thooraatha’. Divine love?

Siru Siru…
Vocals: Vidya Shankar, Master Aswath, P.Ajith, Master Sharath
Lyricis: Karky

The music arrangement is again different. Very situational, with right visuals, the song has good chances of making it big.

Overall, Sharreth and Jayendra have gone full throttle in experimenting with music in 180’s album. Such initiatives should be welcomed with both hands.

Verdict: Novel and worth listening to.

ENGEYUM EPPOTHUM MUSIC REVIEW
Review by : P.G. Devi

Starring: Jai, Anjali, Sharwanand, Ananya
Direction: Saravanan
Music: Sathya
Production: A R Murugadoss, Fox Star Studios
Vocals: Vijay Prakash, Ranina, Bonnie , Chinmayee, Sathya, Madhushree, Sayanora Philip
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

Actor Jai, Anjali, Sharwanand, Ananya starrer Engeyum Eppodhum is directed by Saravanan and produced by AR Murugadoss and Fox Studios. The music is scored by debutant C.Sathya. The album has 5 tracks with a fair share of new comers and experienced singers. With the expectation weighing much on the first-time composer, lets see how he has delivered.

Govinda . . .
Singers: Vijay Prakash, Ranina, Bonnie
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

The album opens up with this lighthearted peppy number 'Govinda'. Sathya gives a mixture of music in this song, right from saxophone , electric guitars to Chinese mumblings and electric voice-overs. Vijay Prakash's mischievous tones are playful and so are the voiceover of array of singers Ranina and Bonnie. Na. Muthukumar's urbane-cool wordings go well with the composition. The first-time music director delivers with this impressive song

Sotta Sotta . . .
Singers: Chinmayee, Sathya
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

Chinmayee is absolutely delightful in this melody and the composer deserves kudos for making this a totally enchanting fare. Use of tabla and electrical flute are noteworthy and the orchestration is simply great. A lot of work has been done to make this zestier and something that lovers can relate to due to the added tempo and beats. The lyrics are filmy and just right for the romantic number.

Maasamaa . . .
Singers: Sathya
Lyrics: Saravanan

Both the directors (Sathya and Saravanan) join hands to produce this snooze fest.. The song has desi beats and has more of the rustic flavor with simple instrumentation. It should not come as surprise for music directors to be singing in their own albums and Sathya is no exception to that. Sathya's perfect rendering is the highlight of the track which could be used in some dramatic portions of the movie. It might be one of the songs which take a trip down the hero's memory lane with some formidable street-dancing group.

Un Perai Theriyathu . . .
Singers: Madhushree
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

Again the composer has tried to produce an inspirational song from gentle guitar plucks to introducing Tamil rap and English tracks to compose a female-solo track. Madhushree, who has delivered some chartbusting as well memorable songs like 'Mayiliragae', 'Sanda kozhi' and 'Marudhani' has tried to make a comeback with this song. The humming and to some extent the beats give a 'heard before' feel. Commercially speaking of the track, this well penned and rendered track lacks inspiration, but is definitely note-worthy.

Uyir Arunthathae . . .
Singers: Sayanora Philip
Lyrics: Saravanan

It's a brief 2 minute song that will naturally be used as a background score, especially during the mystical, tragic moments of the film. Sayanora Philip's immaculately streamlined voice echoes out the pathos, hardships, loss and death in her well-tempered vocal flows. The musical arrangements are befitting to make a deep impact to the listeners. The song really has that lingering quality that stays back even after the song comes to an end.

Expectations did arise a little bit, with the debutant music director Sathya and 'Ghajni' Murugadoss - Saravanan combination. They have come up with some simple music and variety of musical arrangements. The music is cool, but the impact is moderate. "Sotta Sotta" and "Govinda" certainly top the album. Considering his first-time venture, the music-director deserves a commendable mention for his efforts and proves that he could be counted upon in the near future.

Verdict: "Engayum Eppothum" tries to make an impact "Eppavavuthum", with much potential for "Eppothum"

YUVAN YUVATHI MUSIC REVIEW
Review by : P.G. Devi

Starring: Bharath, Reema Kallingal
Direction: G.N.R. Kumaravel
Music: Vijay Antony
Production: Ram Pictures
Vocals: Vijay Antony, Vijay Prakash, Madhumitha, Haricharan, Snegha, Karthik, Ramya, Krishnan Mahesan, Sangeetha Rajeshwaran
Lyrics: Annamalai, Kalai Kumar, Priyan

G.N.R. Kumaravel and Vijay Anthony duo is back again, after their hit combination in their debut film, Ninaithalae Inikkum.

They plan to repeat their magic this time around with Yuvan Yuvathi starring Bharath and Reema Kallingal.

Vijay Anthony has put forth seven tracks in the album, which is a mix of trendy and melodious songs.

Oh My Angel…
Singers: Vijay Anthony
Lyrics: Annamalai

Vijay Anthony renders his voice to the aptly high-pitched solo, which is infectious from the first note to the very last.

The instrumentation, lyrics (Annamalai) and the vocal delivery (Vijay Anthony) makes 'Oh my Angel' a prospective hit of the year. Beginning with a burst of energy, the opening title track is a good indicator of neatly orchestrated music.

Mayakka Oosi...
Singers: Vijay Prakash, Madhumitha
Lyrics: Kalaikumar

This song is a breath of fresh air into the realm of melody. The song progresses from a light finger-picked melody and builds itself on with the gradual addition of flute, drums, piano and strings that amaze you how all of the elements fit so well. Vijay Prakash’s stylish rendition and Madhumitha's captivating vocals translate beautifully to produce a mesmerizing song.

24 hours…
Singers: Haricharan
Lyrics: Annamalai

It is a laid-back hip-hop experimentation by Vijay Anthony, which is sure to appease the youth. It is refreshing to hear hip-hop sounding innovative and a bit south-Indian. Lyricist Annamalai's youthful, catchy lines make it sound interesting. Haricharan lets the beats to do the talking, but is still determined to command the listener's attention.

Vijay Anthony packs his trademark punch.

Kola Kuthu…
Singers: Vijay Anthony
Lyrics: Annamalai

Vijay Anthony and Sneha deliver the high voltage song, but the overall impression is that of the lyrics and vocals being lost in the music. Alas, it is another forced kuthu song, which makes you wonder why the extremely talented Vijay Anthony is always trying too hard to re-master his previous hit, Nakku Mukka.

Un Kannai Partha Piragu...
Singers: Karthik, Ramya
Lyrics: Priyan

The addictive vocals of Karthik glue you to the song right from the beginning note. Ramya hums certain verses, while Karthik is the main show-stealer here. There aren't many singers out there so clearly singing with such refreshing abandon. The floating and mellow lyrics by Priyan and Vijay's peppy composition only add more beauty to
the song. It's a track that is as subtle as it is sublime.

Kadai Poduran…
Singers: Krishnan Mahesan
Lyrics: Annamalai

What can't be denied is that the track easily deserves its place in the play lists of modern-day collegiate grungesters. We have got nice rap composition sprinkled with English versus and professional cool elements mixed up. Krishnan Mahesan gets an honorable mention as a rap enthusiast. This song gets points for its catchy lyrics and hipster vibe.

Ullangai...
Singers: Sangeetha Rajeshwaran
Lyrics: Annamalai

Vijay Anthony, with his minimal electro throbs and dreamy interludes produce a simple song that is alluring.

Paired with Sangeetha Rajeshwaran's warm, engrossing voice, this song become much more than just a simple melody. The lyrics (Annamalai) dig deep into the emotional territory making it a beautiful soothing song.

Yuvan Yuvathi is a mixed bag for youth, with hippy dance-floor tracks to soulful melodies and peppy numbers that deserves a special appreciation for the efforts put by Vijay Anthony. "24 hours" and "Kadai Poduran" for its youthful spirit and "Un Kannai Partha Piragu" for its scintillating melody are meant to be adored.

Verdict: Yuvan Yuvathi is good collection of youngish and stylish songs.

ROWTHIRAM MUSIC REVIEW
Review by : R.Richard Mahesh

Starring: Jiiva, Shriya
Direction: Gokul
Music: Prakash Nikki
Production: R.B. Choudary
Vocals: Ranina Reddy, Vallavan, Udit Narayanan, Sadhna Sargam, Haricharan, Palakkad Sriram
Lyrics: Thamarai, Gokul, Lalithachand, Mahakavi Bharathiyar

Following the huge success of Ko, Jiiva is back with Rowthiram that is produced by his home banner Super Good Films. Known for introducing new talents in Tamil film industry, producer R.B. Choudary has given helping hand to debutants Gokul (Filmmaker), Prakash Nikki (Music Director) and Shanmuga Sundaram (Cinematographer). The album has 5 tracks including a theme music.

Maalai Mangum...
Singers: Ranina Reddy
Lyrics: Thamarai

Girl’s amorous feelings expressed for her beau and when you’ve Thamarai penning lyrics for such a track, it’s an undeniable hit. Thamarai has always succeeded in exhibiting the deepest feelings of a woman in some of her previous works that include ‘Vaseegara’ (Minnale) and ‘Ondra Renda’ (Kaakha Kaakha). Moreover the similarity doesn’t end here as newcomer Prakash Nikki’s composition has some close similarities with these songs: crooned in low bass voice and slow-paced beats. Ranina Reddy’s intoning style deserves appreciations.

Golimaare...
Singers: Vallavan
Lyrics: Gokul

Vallavan in his usual style croons this Gaana-Rap track, which happens to be a song pictured on the film’s antagonist (played by Bollywood choreographer Ganesh Acharya). Maybe, his choreography and visuals will capture the interests of youth cohorts.

Adiye Un Kangal...
Singers: Udit Narayanan, Sadhana Sargam
Lyrics: Lalithachand

A soft romantic duet with mild beats on accompaniment becomes one of the major highlights in this song. Udit Narayanan renders the song in his usual slang while Sadhana Sargam gives an effortless performance. It’s an usual song about a boy’s astonishment over his girl’s beauty.

Sengaathal...
Singer: Haricharan
Lyrics: Lalithachand

Prakash Nikki comes up with a refreshing song that is engrossing. It gives a breezy feeling to the listeners and credit goes to Haricharan for his style of rendition. The chords on guitars, strings in accompaniment and well programmed rhythm box are nicely orchestrated.

Rowthiram Theme music...
Singer: Palakkad Sriram
Lyrics: Mahakavi Bharathiyar

‘Let the earth shatter, Let the lightning fall on you, there’s no point in fearing’. The lines written by Mahakavi Bharathiyar inject a spirit of fearlessness. Thanks to Prakash Nikki for his attempt to escalate the feel of song through power-packed percussions. Though the song has a shorter running length of just 120secs, it arrests our senses for its motivating lines. Prakash Nikki deserves special appreciation for roping Palakkad Sriram.

On the whole, ‘Rowthiram’ has couple of promising tracks ‘Maalai Mangum’ and ‘Rowthiram Theme Music’ that gains our interest right away on our first listen. Marking verdict on newcomer Prakash Nikki, he has made a great effort and of course has done a decent job...

Verdict: Good stroke by Prakash Nikki.

MANKATHA MUSIC REVIEW
Review by : P.G. Devi

Starring: Ajith Kumar, Trisha, Arjun, Andrea Jeremiah, Lakshmi Rai, Premji, Anjali, Vaibhav
Direction: Venkat Prabhu
Music: Yuvan Shankar Raja
Production: Dayanidhi Azhagiri, (Cloud Nine Movies)
Vocals: Yuvan Shankar Raja, Premji Amaran, Ranjith, Sucharita, Anita, Krish, Suchitra, Bhavatharani, SPB. Charan, Mano, Haricharan, Naveen, Tippu , Madhushree, Karthik, Vijay Yesudas, Anusha Dayanidhi

Mankatha which was constantly in the headlines, right from its announcement, marks Ajith's 50th film, with a huge multi-starrer including Trisha, Arjun, Andrea Jeremiah, Lakshmi Rai is directed by Venkat Prabhu. The release of Mankatha music album has finally put an end to the wait of Ajith's fans who are ready to grab a copy of theirs. The music is scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja and let us not waste any more time to explore it.

Vilayadu Mankatha . . .
Singers: Yuvan Shankar Raja, Premji Amaran, Ranjith, Sucharita, Anita
Lyrics: Gangai Amaran, Yuvan (English), Sucharita (Hindi)

A pumped up opening number, sure to entertain hardcore Ajith fans. The much-publicized hot dance club number has the vocal pacing of Premji Amaran, Ranjith, Anita with Yuvan Shankar Raja rendering the English verses and Sucharita the Hindi ones. Brief rap composition in the middle, adds variety to the song. Deep bass drum, heavy cellos, violins and high metal beats dominate.

Vaada Bin Laada . . .
Singers: Krish, Suchitra
Lyrics: Vaali

Funky techno-beats and grooves, electro-veena and flute blend well in the composition. The song has a thumping feel to it and might be the discotheque item number of the film. Vaali's lyrics like 'Twin tower-a enna edida' are youthful in his style. The sassy renditions of Suchitra and Krish add the required touch to the song.

Nee Naan . . .
Singers: Bhavatharani, SPB Charan
Lyrics: Niranjan Bharathi

SPB Charan's light-breeze vocals ooze delight to the ears of the audience. Bhavatharani joins him to deliver a mesmerizing duet song. Niranjan Bharathi's fancy wordings are simplistically penned and form a pleasing song. Light arrangements of drums and guitar by Yuvan perfectly balance a soothing melody and it does have the potential to climb up the charts.

Machi Open The Bottle . . .
Singers: Mano, Haricharan, Premji Amaren, Naveen, Tippu
Lyrics: Vaali

If Chennai 600028 had 'Saroja Saaman nikalo', then Mankatha has 'Machi Open the Bottle' which is fun-filled track .This number is energetic and gets raunchier for the delight of ones who just want a good rhythm to shake their leg. Yuvan remixes yesteryear's hit 'Raman Aandalum' with earthy disco beats. This song again has an ensemble star singers Mano, Haricharan, Premji Amaren, Naveen and Tippu.

Nanbane . . .
Singers: Madhushree, Yuvan Shankar Raja
Lyrics: Vaali

The song is a light-flowing melody, in which Yuvan has set minimal musical composition to accompany the somber mood of the song. Yuvan Shankar Raja is excellent as his vocals convey the pain and anguish of the lost-in-love character with ease. Madhushree's tender feminine vocals are charming and so are the lyrics of Vaali. This song has the elements to take off with some amazing visuals on big screen.

Balle Lakka . . .
Singers: Karthik, Vijay Yesudas, Anusha Dhayanidhi
Lyrics:Gangai Amaran

This song takes a slight dip in our expectations, after listening to a couple of good tracks from the album. It sounds like a quick-composed number to have much more pacy tunes making the song more dance oriented to target the youth. Newcomer Anusha Dhayanidhi's spirited rendition along with Karthik and Vijay Yesudas feverish vocals are perfectly balanced.

Vilayadu Mankatha (Extended Dance Mix) . . .
Singers:Yuvan Shankar Raja, Premji Amaren, Ranjith, Sucharita, Anita
Lyrics:Gangai Amaran, Yuvan (English), Sucharita (Hindi)

This club-mix of the original version, ensures that the tempo is bouncy, quick paced and ready to rock the audience on the dance floor. The track is a feisty festival, with racing, high-metal beats, which is sure to rock in the discotheques and clubs. Yuvan is unstoppable! Demands for 'once more', already echo around.

Mankatha Theme Music(Instrumental). . .

Yuvan has decided to take Ajith's magnanimous presence to wow the audience on screen, by delivering his ultimate effort in Mankatha theme music. This tune will definitely be one of the top downloaded mobile tunes of the year. Perhaps Yuvan's answer to '50 cent- Ready for war'!

Mankatha promises big attractions for the listeners who await rocking feast from the composer. The album has pumping numbers like "Vilaiyadu Mankatha" and also well-crafted melodies like "Nee Naan" and "Nanbane". The songs will definitely be high on promotional features and will collect positive views, but haven't we started expecting more from Yuvan since the Chennai 28 days?

Verdict: Yuvan - driven to entertain Ajith's fans.

MUDHAL IDAM MUSIC REVIEW
Review by : P.G. Devi

Starring: Vidharth, Kavitha Nair, Keerthi Chawla
Direction: R Kumaran
Music: D.Imman
Production: AVM Productions

Mudhal Idam, produced by AVM Saravanan and MS Guhan marks their banner AVM production's 175th film. It is directed by R Kumaran. Myna fame Viddarth and Kavitha Nair play the lead roles in this film. D.Imman had proved his mettle in 'Myna'. Lets see if he does a fitting succession in 'Mudhal Idam'

Inga Vaanthey . . .
Singers: Haricharan, Surmukhi
Lyrics: Arivumathi

Mild sensuous song with apt catchy tune seems to be the successful combination formula, that Imman has followed in this track and sure it has paid him well. Haricharan's mellifluous voice is accompanied by sweet feminine vocals of Surmukhi, making it very pleasant to hear. Arivumathi's aesthetically penned lyrics are interspersed in this likable composition.

Pappara Pappara . . .
Singers: Ananthu, Aalap Raju, Priya Subramaniam
Lyrics: Kabilan

It is a medium-paced kuthu number rendered in earthy style, that promises some entertainment for the folks who love rural music.Imman delivers an interesting mix of nadhawaram and his funky style of music to the soundtrack. Ananthu and Aalap Raju render the required feel to the song, while Priya Subramaniam's throaty vocals reminds you of Chinna Ponnu from 'Theeka Theeka' song.

Thindaduren Naane . . .
Singers: Vijay Yesudas
Lyrics: Arivumathi

Vijay Yesudas with his splurgy display of varying tones, churn out this haunting number that captures different emotional shades of romance. The tender guitar riffs and flute, interludes with strong percussions and makes it a great candidate to top the charts. "Nee parka Veyil Aanen", "Naan verka pani aanay" are some of the catchy lyrics that works well in tandem with the simple orchestration.

Uyya Uyya . . .(thumbs up)
Singers: Veeramani Dasan, Thindukallu Poovitha
Lyrics: Arivumathi

'Uyya Uyya is the finicky soundtrack. Imman has utilized the urmi and thavil instruments pretty well with his signature tuneful beats which distinguishes itself from Ilyaraja's folk composition of similar songs. Veeramani dasan and Thindukallu Poovitha deliver out a notable folklore musical treat that stands out in this genre of folk techno upbeat music.

Aiythaaney . . .
Singers: D. Imman, Chinmayee
Lyrics: Yugabharathi

This melancholically conceived romantic number brings out the penetrative sweet voice of Chinmayee and equally impressive Imman. But the rhythm is what lets it down and to be precise, the song has a kinda of 80's vibe , which makes it quite forgettable. It is a lackluster situational song, which somehow lacks the touch needed to take it to the next level. May be story-like-visuals could impress the viewers to lure them, to take notice of the song.

Muthal Idam . . .
Singers: Vasudevan Senthildas, Sam Keerthan, Feji, Krithika, Ranina Reddy
Lyrics:Arivumathi

An attempted medley with various elements from typical Punjabi dance track to classical beats. Vasudevan Senthildas, Sam Keerthan, Feji, Krithika, Ranina Reddy render their enthusiastic vocals to the loud drumming beat. This is a crisp 3 minute song, which provides the theme based music for the film.

Imman has scored few impressive tracks like ' Inga Vaanthey' and 'Thindaduren Naane' much to the delight of the listeners. But the surprise element is 'Uyya Uyya' which is his folklore experimentation delivering the needful.

Verdict: Mudhal Idam - Entertaining, but could have been more inspiring!

VELAYUDHAM MUSIC REVIEW
Review by : P.G. Devi

Starring: Vijay, Genelia, Hansika Motwani, Saranya Mohan, Santhanam
Direction: Jeyam Raja
Music: Vijay Antony
Production: Aascar Films
Vocals: Haricharan, Srimathumitha, Prasanna, Supriya Joshi, Karthik, Charulatha Mani, Sangeetha Rajeshwaran, Vijay Antony, Veera Shankar, Mark
Lyrics: Annamalai, Viveka, Siva Shanmugam, Priyan

Velayutham, directed by M.Raja and produced by Aascar's Ravichandran has bankable star-cast of Vijay, Genelia and Hansika Motwani. Ever since the humongous success of Vijay and Vijay Antony combination in 'Vettaikaran', there has been much hype about this project. Let’s see if Vijay Antony can do it this time around?

Rathathin Rathamay...
Singers: Haricharan, Srimathumitha
Lyrics: Annamalai

This opening track offers colorful, cosmic intro of the hero's brotherly affection for his sister. Annamalai’s well conceived verses could refer to the sibling character as well as Vijay's fans. It delivers a strong hero impact with the support of routine wordings in its packaging like, 'Neenga romba naal nalla irrukanum'. Vijay Antony has given an impressive track which is loud yet lighter and catchier. Haricharan's subtly vocalized version works well, exuding a lovable monologue for the male lead.

Molachu Moonu...
Singers: Prasanna, Supriya Joshi
Lyrics: Viveka

Vijay Antony gleams out to produce a soft-folklore composing in 'molachu' song. Distinctive from the musical flavor of the album, it is soothing, earthy and mature. The interesting arrangements make wise use of catchy lyrics to churn out an attractive listen. Prasanna and Supriya Joshi's zealous singing can be termed as the highlight of the song. It is one of memorable Vijay Antony's tunes.

Chillax...
Singers: Karthik, Charulatha Mani
Lyrics: Annamalai

If you enjoyed , 'En Uchimandai' in Vettaikaran, then you will be chilled by this fest. The song is a good amalgam of peppiness and vibrant beats with old-fashioned Bagavathar type musical inclusions .It is a signature style kuthu song with dancing beat from Vijay Antony. Karthik and Charulatha Mani's tangible and captivating vocals deliver the happy and chirpy feel to the song.

Mayam Seidhayo...
Singers: Sangeetha Rajeshwaran
Lyrics: Viveka

It is a trendy, dreamy song with delightful composition. Quality singing is the hallmark of the track and Sangeetha Rajeshwaran does a striking rendition. The track about female character adoring her heart-stealer, is an engrossing number that should be going well with listeners, and definitely deserves to top the charts.

Sonna Puriyadhu...
Singers: Vijay Antony, Veera Shankar
Lyrics: Siva Shanmugam

Here comes our mass hero introduction song. This time around, it sounds folkish with lavish use of thara, thapattai, thavil and urmi instruments blended in. Vijay Antony's snazzy voice and Veera Shankar's initial interludes packs the required punch. With more visually appealing aura of festive village ambience, it is bound to entertain Vijay fans. However it unconsciously triggers our memories of 'Nee entha ooru' song from Thirupachi.

Vela Vela...
Singers: Vijay Antony, Mark
Lyrics: Priyan

This hugely promoted song of the film is the theme music that would serve as a background score for the flick. Vijay Antony's stylized, hi-impulse beat number will work magic on-screen with Ilaya Thalapathi. This delirious musical piece is composed keeping in mind the compelling moments of the film.

Vijay Antony continues to flaunt his success this time around with Velayutham. The album has a bunch of entertaining soundtrack like, 'Molachu moonu', 'Mayam Seidhayo' and usual mass beat tracks 'Sonna Puriyadhu' and 'Vela Vela'.

Verdict: Velayutham - Vijay Antony's feast for Vijay fans.

VEDI MUSIC REVIEW
Review by : P.G. Devi

Starring: Vishal, Sameera Reddy, Poonam Kaur, Vivek
Direction: Prabhu Deva
Music: Vijay Antony
Production: Vikram Krishna (GK Film Corporation)
Vocals: Vijay Yesudas, Janaki Iyer, Vijay Antony, Sangeetha Rajeshwaran, Karthik, Saindhavi, Mamta Sharma, MLR. Karthikeyan, Senthildas, Emcee Jesz, Naresh Iyer, Andrea Jeremiah, Rap Vocals Sharmila
Lyrics: Thamarai, Vaali, Na. Muthukumar, Viveka, Kabilan

Vedi directed by Prabhu Deva and produced by Vishal's home banner is the remake of Telugu film Souryam. Vishal pairs up with Sameera Reddy for the flick. Vijay Antony has scored the music for the film. Let’s see whether the Prabhu Deva - Vijay Antony combination has come up with something out of the box for a mass entertainment.

Enna Aachi...
Singers: Vijay Yesudas, Janaki Iyer
Lyrics: Thamarai

The first track of 'Vedi', is a delightful, soft, charming melody intended to captivate the listeners. Vijay Yesudas and Janaki Iyer have sung in a most heartwarming manner. Vijay Antony has shown his melodious side in trying to bring back the flavor of old-world charm. Thamarai's simple lyrics have done more justice to the song. A sure shot hit number that will reserve a soft spot in our hearts.

Ichu Ichu...
Singers: Vijay Antony, Sangeetha Rajeshwaran
Lyrics: Vaali

This track is a fun-filled, simple rustic folklore that is pleasant on the ears and not jarring as the tempering is not overboard as in most Vijay Antony's songs. Besides crooning the number himself, he once again opts for his favorite singer Sangeetha Rajeshwaran to execute the job. The lyrics have jovial teasing-pleasing words, which gel with the catchy musical arrangements. Overall it’s an enlightening youthful number that is adding vibrancy to the album.

Ippadi Mazhai...
Singers: Karthik, Saindhavi
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

Two extremely talented artists, Karthik and Saindhavi, come together for 'Ippadi Mazhai' song and deliver a flawless performance to the just mediocre composition. There is a heard before feel to the song. Especially the humming 'Oh ho' is kind of outdated and does not mix with Vijay Antony's stylized experimentation. The lyrics are way too filmy and this rain song fails to make an impact.

Bombay Ponnu . . .
Singers: Mamta Sharma, MLR. Karthikeyan, Senthildas
Lyrics: Viveka

It's Mamta Sharma, the new find of Vijay Antony, who returns fresh from the super-hit 'Munni Badnaam' song from the Salman starrer blockbuster 'Dabangg'. Her husky voice is the highlight of this highly Bollywood inspired number. Hindi verses mixed with Tamil lyrics add to the rustic mood. With some amazing choreography from Prabhu Deva, it might be a hip-shaking bonanza.

Kadhalikka . .
Singers:Emcee Jesz, Naresh Iyer, Andrea Jeremiah, Rap Vocals Sharmila
Lyrics: Kabilan

Vijay Antony rounds off this album, with an above average 'kadhalikka' number. It has an array of singers - Emcee Jesz, Naresh Iyer, Andrea Jeremiah and Sharmila who display their brilliance effectively. The music arrangement is western, classic and rap fusion. The song is quite entertaining and will be loved by Vijay Antony's fans.

To conclude, Vedi has come up with five tracks, out of which, two songs are quite good - 'Enna Aachi' and 'Ichu Ichu'. However, the only sore point is that a chartbuster which one would normally expect out of the Prabhu Deva and Vijay Antony combination is missing.

Verdict: Vedi - Music not explosive enough

MAYAKKAM ENNA MUSIC REVIEW
Review by : P.G. Devi

Starring: Dhanush, Richa Gangopadhyay
Direction: Selvaraghavan
Music: G.V. Prakash Kumar
Production: Gemini Film Circuit
Vocals: Naresh Iyer, Saindhavi, GV Prakash, Harish Raghavendra, Dhanush, Selvaraghavan
Lyrics: Dhanush, Selvaraghavan

After scoring a few chartbusters in Selvaraghavan’s last outing Aayirathil Oruvan, G V Prakash once again teams up with the director in Mayakkam Enna to give out some scintillating numbers. The young music director is steadily becoming a force to be reckoned with in the music industry and he reiterates his talent once again in Mayakkam Enna. Over to the songs

Naan Sonnadhum Mazhaivandhucha...
Singers: Naresh Iyer
Lyrics: Selvaraghavan

G.V. Prakash's composition of the opening track is the perfect blend of modernity and ethnicity and above all it has an urbane touch to the rustically penned earthen song. After delivering many cheery melodious songs, Naresh Iyer has experimented with this new style and it perfectly fits the breezy sophisticated song. The music in the interlude are reminiscent of the 'Aayirathil Oruvan' track, Overall, it is an entertaining effort put forth by the team and it certainly deserves a top place in the charts.

Pirai Thedum...
Singers: Saindhavi & GV Prakash
Lyrics: Dhanush

This lovable melodious duet ushers in innocence and also the hopelessness of the romantic characters. Saindhavi's mellow voice in soft tones is pleasant to the ears and so do the touches of the versatile GV.Prakash that connect well to the spirits of the track. The light musical arrangements of piano and string instruments along with the vibrant lyrics convey the mood of serenity. This song will cater well to the youthful sentiments.

Voda Voda Dhooram Korayala...
Singers: Dhanush
Lyrics: Selvaraghavan, Dhanush

Down the memory lane, we had 'Unnai Parthapiragu' from 'Thiruda Thirudi'. This is one such song where the dialogue-like-verses are encapsulated in a delightful fun-filled tune. The signature whistle tunes used in the track have a possibility to be downloaded for the mobiles by the college-goers. Dhanush's voice plays out the mock-pain and the comforting musical arrangements add to the youthful appeal of the song.

Ennenna Seidhom Ingae...
Singers: Harish Raghavendra
Lyrics: Selvaraghavan

After some high spirited numbers, the mood turns suddenly devotional, somber and serious with the track rendered by Harish Raghavendra. G.V. Prakash has given a situational, dramatic composition that adds to the serenity of the mood. Dhanush has penned the song, which is deeply philosophical and explores the complexities of one’s spiritual search. A lovely song to purify the disturbed minds and cleanse the demented soul.

Kadhal En Kadhal...
Singers: Dhanush & Selvaraghavan
Lyrics: Dhanush

This track is streamlined well that has melodramatically pitched sound impacts for the booze-induced hero singing. This song again, like few other scores in this album is written and sung by Dhanush. The chorus lyrics 'addida avalai','uthada avalai', 'vidraa avalai' packs a little punch to the otherwise mediocre track.

Mayakkam Enna Theme...

It is an aesthetically profound musical piece, which shows GV.Prakash's versatility as a composer. The composition is a listening delight with control over delectable orchestrations that is presumed to be an effective background score.

'Mayakkam Enna' is Dhanush mania - all the way!!! Songs 'Naan Sonnadhum Mazhaivandhucha' and 'Pirai Thedum' are thoroughly cherishable songs while 'Vooda Vooda' and 'Kadhal En Kadhal' are pure entertainers.

Verdict: Mayakkam Enna - Intoxicating enough!

7AUM ARIVU MUSIC REVIEW
Review by : P.G. Devi

Starring: Suriya, Shruthi Hassan
Direction: A.R.Murugadoss
Music: Harris Jeyaraj
Production: Udhayanidhi Stalin (Red Giant Movies)
Vocals: Roshan, Jerry John, Benny Dayal, Suchitra, Karthik, Megha , Vijay Prakash, Shruti Haasan, Pop Shalini, SP. Balasubramaniam, Swetha Mohan, Balram, Naresh Iyer, Suchith Suresan, Hao Wang
Lyrics: Pa.Vijay, Na. Muthukumar, Kabilan, Karky

After their first outing in Ghajini turned out to be a big hit, expectations are sky high on the next venture of director A.R.Murugadoss and actor Suriya - 7aum arivu. The mega budget flick is produced by Udayanidhi Stalin's Red giant movies. Let’s see if the team can pull it off this time around.

Oh Ringa Ringa...
Singers: Roshan, Jerry John, Benny Dayal, Suchitra
Lyrics: Pa. Vijay

The album ticks off with a full-energy 'Oh Ringa Ringa' which has shades of hip-hop wrapped in a catchy Spanish percussion arrangement. The song has unusual words in the usual style of Harris to provide a solid hero introductory song! The stylized composition scores maximum using the support of peppy singing in engaging tones by Roshan, Jerry John, Benny Dayal and Suchitra. Though the song isn't novel, it’s highly entertaining and has the potential to be one of the biggest hits of this year.

Mun Andhi...
Singers: Karthik, Megha
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

The next number 'Mun Andhi' is a sweet, soft, light breezy romantic track. Though the whistle tune at the start reminds of his previous composition 'poove vaai' from 12B, the difference ends right there. It has lovely electronically tuned beats that works well with the angelic chorus (Megha) and sugary lyrics (Na.Muthukumar). With the song having all elements needed to top the charts, Karthik bewitches his listeners with his delightful rendition. Shot in the scenic Krabi islands in Thailand, it should provide a visual treat to Suriya's fans as well.

Yellae Lama...
Singers: Vijay Prakash, Karthik, Shruti Haasan, Pop Shalini
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

Harris Jeyaraj's next popcorn entertainer in the album is 'Yellae Lama'. Very infectious desi hard-rock type song with high guitar riffs and jams, to set the required upbeat mood. The talented Shruti Haasan in her rock 'avatar' matches the youthful flamboyant singing of Vijay Prakash, Karthik and Pop Shalini. Trendy choreography should add more spice to this dance-number and would fast catch up among urbane listeners.

Yamma Yamma...
Singers: SP. Balasubramaniam, Swetha Mohan
Lyrics: Kabilan

Simplicity at its brilliance is the trademark of the song, 'Yamma Yamma'. It’s been some time since we heard the legendary SPB in Harris's composition. SPB makes a refreshing comeback to soften the mood of the love-lost character. Kudos to the composer for making a song that is not contemporary, yet strikingly outstanding. Mild gatam beats fuse well with the soothing musical arrangements. Projected to be a huge hit in the same genre of 'Anjala Anjala' song.

Innum Enna Thozha...
Singers:Balram, Naresh Iyer, Suchith Suresan
Lyrics: Pa. Vijay

This is a tribute to the people of Tamil Eezham by Harris and is one of the inspirational tracks, with motivational lyrics from Pa.Vijay. The tenderly and pacifying voices of Balram, Naresh Iyer and Suchith Suresan do the much needed justice to the track.

The Rise Of Damo (Mandarin)...
Singers: Hao Wang
Lyrics: Karky `

Supposed to be one of the musical highlights of the film, Harris brings in a fresh fusion of traditional Chinese and South Indian music. It would be interesting to see how both music neophytes and connoisseurs would take to this song. Madhan Karky continues to be out-of-the-box in lyrics, and this time it is in Mandarin.

The album promises a couple of big chart-busting hits like the peppy 'Ringa Ringa', the melodious 'Mun Andhi' and the pathos-ridden 'Yamma Yamma'. Though there is a déjà vu feel all around the album, its a sure shot commercial success, riding high on the mega-valued production, promotion and heavy duty cast & crew.

Verdict: 7aum Arivu - Programmed to please all your 7 senses.

vaagai-sooda-vaa-review VAAGAI SOODA VAA MOVIE REVIEW

Review by : Behindwoods Review Board

Starring: Vimal, Iniya, K Bhagyaraj, Ponvannan
Direction: A Sarkunam
Music: M Ghibran
Production: S Muruganandham, N Puranna

In his very first film Kalavani, director Sarkunam proved that he is a film maker with a potential. And in Vaagai Sooda Vaa, he continues to reiterate this fact as he narrates his tale adhering to a rural milieu set in 1966.

Vaagai Sooda Vaa is a tribute to teachers and tells the story of young man who is trained to teach and waiting for a government job which in those days was a highly revered commodity. The incidents that unfold when he comes to a village involved in making bricks and the shape that his dreams take on, become the base on which Sarkunam builds his story.

Vaagai Sooda Vaa works big time due to the brilliant detailing of Sarkunam and team, art director Seenu, cinematographer Om Prakash and music director Ghibran.

Sarkunam’s research is evident in the numerous articles of 1966 from the transistor, its announcements, the alum used during shaving to the bar soap being cut by thread. And he has also brought out the traditions of people living in that period through the ‘oppari’ and the customs during a death ceremony. Sarkunam’s eye for perfection is palpable when Vimal walks with a limp after he is attacked although his limp does not form part of the core of the sequence at all.

Credible characters and a fairly good screenplay are the positive components of VSV. In the performance department, debutante Iniya is a worthy find and cruises through emotions. The scene where she breaks into a pompous jig in front of Vimal’s hut and where she expresses her disappointment on knowing Vimal’s intentions speak about the girl’s potential. Of course, her body language in a few instances is contemporary which could have been avoided.

For Vimal, VSV offers a different look in terms of a well kempt teacher with neatly done hair style and mannerisms. But Vimal could try bringing in variation in his dialogue delivery which would help the actor in the long run. Kumaravel’s performance as a ‘kuruvikaarar’ and his make-up needs special mention. Thambi Ramiah, K Bhagyaraj, and Ponvannan as supporting cast have done their roles satisfactorily.

The scene where heroine Iniya keeps hitting her shoulders with Vimal purposely, Thambi Ramiah losing out to Vimal on his Maths riddle, Vimal explaining about his brawn to the children and an innocent child’s remark followed by Iniya’s naughty comment, Vimal trying out his courage to a chasing goat are all examples of enjoyable scenes and VSV is replete with such sequences.

Technically VSV boasts of commendable contributions and art director Seenu who is being introduced in the film takes away the honors in bringing the right kind of ambience to Sarkunam’s vision. Cinematographer Om Prakash with his dusty brown visuals and the apt tones and angles create the magic of 1966.

It is difficult to believe VSV is Ghibran’s first project as music director. Under his musical baton, Sara Sara rules followed by Porane and Aana Aavanna. Although the Porane number sounds well, the picturization and its validation appear unnatural. Sarkunam’s juxtaposition of old songs in the narration works in favor of the film especially the ‘Pennin Manadai Thottu Poravare’ ditty.

On the flip side, Sargunam could have avoided taking time to get into the main story knot, which could have made the narration even more engaging. Nevertheless, Vaagai Sooda Vaa emerges triumphant bringing out the period feel with a simple love story and a noble message.

Verdict: A noble message told successfully

VANDHAAN VENDRAAN MOVIE REVIEW
Review by : Behindwoods Review Board

Starring: Jiiva, Tapasee, Santhanam
Direction: Kannan
Music: Thamman
Production: Vasan Visual Ventures

Director Kannan is known to deliver family entertainers and he has attempted a similar genre in Vandhaan Vendraan too with a few more ingredients as garnishing that work mostly in favor of the film.

In Vandhaan Vendraan, a product of Vaasan Visual Ventures, sibling rivalry and its ramifications form the epicenter which has been presented in a slightly different format. VV has many positives to sustain the audience’s interest but is not devoid of its foibles either. The screen play has been crafted fairly well and engages the viewer to a large extent.

The climax twist and its conceptualization are the highlight of the film which is sure to facilitate director Kannan’s entry into the list of promising film makers with potential.

Kannan’s characterization of Taapsee is good and it is refreshing to see that in VV, the heroine is not there just to color up the proceeding but has an appreciable screen space. Her practical outlook towards love is such a welcome change from the coy meek heroines we come across in most films.

There are quite a few scenes which catch your attention like the one where Jiiva and Santhanam mimic Nandha. It is also interesting to watch the sequence in which Taapsee takes the canine-fearing Jiiva through a narrow lane where a ferocious intimidating dog is waiting for them.

The wood house in Kerala and Nandha’s office in Mumbai stand out suggesting an aesthetic viewpoint. The costume designer’s work is appreciable and Taapsee’s costumes help in conveying her urban character.

Even though, VV does not provide enough fodder to showcase Jiiva’s histrionics, the actor sashays through his role quite effortlessly. VV is Taapsee’s second film in Tamil and she has utilized the opportunity to deliver it good. Her strong characterization is a plus and her natural genuine smile renders a relatable feel. Chinmayee’s voice is certainly a value addition to Taapsee’s character. Nandha as a man of grey shades is comfortable in his role and impresses with his underplay.

These days the appearance of Santhanam in the title card itself creates exhilaration and the comedian has not disappointed his fans. His scenes in the film are enjoyable and lively.

Thaman’s strains warrant mention and Anjana and Kanchanamala numbers stay with you long after you leave the theatre. But for these two numbers, other tracks impede the pace of the film. Muthiah’s camerawork is a veritable visual treat especially in the above numbers.

On the flipside, Kannan should have taken adequate care to prune a few songs that could have helped him render a taut product. Some of the action sequences seem to drag which causes restlessness in the audience. In a few occasions, the screenplay does tend to meander a little struggling to hit the right path.

When Taapsee decides to reciprocate Jiiva’s love, there is no emotion and is very flat. Nandha’s characterization is also ambiguous as he appears to sport a steely verve sometimes while in some other occasions he is shown as a man full of heart.

To sum it all, Kannan has done a fairly neat job and VV is likely to appeal to family audience as there are no cringe-worthy scenes or dialogues and the film is reasonably engaging.

Verdict: Fairly entertaining with an unexpected twist

ENGEYUM EPPOTHUM MOVIE REVIEW
Review by : Behindwoods Review Board

Starring: Jai, Anjali, Sharwanand, Ananya
Direction: Saravanan
Music: Sathya
Production: A R Murugadoss, Fox Star Studios

In a life of uncertainty, the only thing you can be certain about is the present. Anything can happen, anywhere and anytime! Is that what the director wanted to say? You wonder after having seen the movie. Engeyum Eppodhum has been more keenly watched than other movies of similar stature because of two factors; the debut of A.R. Murugadoss as producer and entry of Fox Star into Kollywood. You would expect two such powerful brands to go in for a movie that proclaimed their might. Instead, they have stumped the audience by choosing a simple and instantly relatable tale told in a very unassuming manner.

Engeyum Eppodhum is about two love stories that run parallel to each other. Parallels do not converge, at least not in finite space. But, here the parallel love stories converge at a journey and it is all the design of destiny.

The houses of Jai, a tool fitter, and Anjali, a nurse, are on the same street. Jai has a special place in his heart for Anjali, but is too shy to tell. But, Anjali is not shy to ask him the reason behind all the stares that he gives her. It is not long before they are in love. If it was the case of neighbors falling in love here, the pair of Sharvanand and Ananya is brought together by a chance acquaintance. A large share of the script is devoted to the growth of these romances, with the Jai-Anjali pair being given a bit more time than the other. Had it been candyfloss romance, things would have got weary for the audience. But, the director has kept it all real without making it mundane. Some of the instances where Anjali tests Jai’s commitment towards the relationship are pretty enjoyable. For most parts, it is Anjali’s performance as the effervescent and bold girl that keeps the screen lively. The director has also shown all the minute and amusing things that happen during a bus journey, the instant friendships that develop, the requests for a window/aisle seat etc. All these simple, but very likeable happenings keep us in a very pleasant frame of mind. We do not even feel that nothing much has happened in terms of the story; no twists, no suspense or anything cinematic.

But, that is where the director delivers his ace. Just when you are prepared for a breezy end to this happy tale of romances, he delivers the twist. It is only then that you recollect that he had hinted towards such a twist right at the beginning of the film. The event is so much against the tone of the script, that it leaves you as surprised as the characters in the film would have been. Yet, it is not an unbelievable or exaggerated spike in the script inserted out of compulsion. It all looks like the hand of destiny, which is why we will be able to relate to the emotions of the characters as they pass through it.

The movie is heavily dependent on the spontaneity of the artistes to deliver that very natural feel. In that respect, Anjali comes out on top, redefining the portrayal of a bold and bubbly girl, while Jai looks every bit the innocent and naïve young man. The Ananya-Sharvanand duo is a bit sidelined. Ananya does make an impression, but Sharvanand does not get enough time to assert himself.

The technical front can claim to have been toned down to maintain the simple nature of the script. Mostly shot outdoors, the film does not carry any extravagant images, even during songs; the montages have been well handled. A couple of tunes by Satya linger on for a while.

Engeyum Eppodhum is a film which has simplicity as its biggest strength. There is immense likeability in the way the characters have been fleshed out, as common people, and the romance becomes endearing for the same reason. And, that is also the reason that our emotions ebb and flow with them when destiny plays its hand. Cinema usually is built around antagonists and protagonists. Here, there are neither, just normal people, their lives, love and destiny. And, there are a couple of messages effectively put forth at the end.

Verdict: A loveable tale of commoners and their destiny!

Muppozhudhum Un Karpanaigal music review

Oru Murai

Vocals: G V Prakash, Andrea, Blaaze

Lyrics: Thamarai

This song is about a chap’s search of best gifts for his girlfriend. He is puzzled about what would interest her and the lyrical lines of Thamarai consist of the gift articles. But it’s decorous vocalism by G.V Prakash Kumar that steals the show. The complete orchestration of the track including the sound effects is done with excellence. Don’t miss the rap portions by Blaaze as his impressive spell stands out as the best attributes here. The teaser of this song has already captured everyone’s interest and it turns us irresistible to wait for the complete album.

Mye Music Review

IndiaGlitz

After making a decent debut with 'Thamizh Padam', the first full-length spoof on Kollywood, music composer Kannan is back to impress us with 'Mye', a film directed by Che Ra Gopalan and produced by Surya Narayana Raju.

Presumably a romantic entertainer, the film has Vishnu Priyan, Swetha Basu and Jayaprakash among others in lead roles. Understanding the demands well, Kannan has come out with a collage of tunes for 'Mye'. Let's have a song by song look.

Devathaipol Ival Listen here
Haricharan

While Kannan's composition is like a gentle breeze, Haricharan's voice is like a feather in 'Devathaipol Ival...' A song which takes us to a different world! Though the number faithfully follows the syntax for songs where the protagonist admires his ladylove, Kannan tries to leave his stamp. An interesting start to the album...

Thada Thada Thada Thada Listen here
Harini, Chinmayi

Two top female singers are here to present 'Thada Thada Thada Thada...' which is innovative and interesting as well. Kannan has brought out well the energy of both the singers. A fast-paced melody, this number gives us a feel of taking a long journey on a train.

Kadavulai Kandal Listen here
MLR Karthikeyan

For a youngster in love, his relationship is his religion and his girlfriend is his god. This is the message this song apparently conveys, in an engaging manner. No second thought that this number reminds us some earlier chartbusters. But at the same time, there is also no denial that the Kannana-Karthikeyan combo weaves magic.

Vaa Oru Thuli Listen here
Karthik

Small drops make an ocean, they say. This song, which starts with an interesting prelude, slowly builds up in our ears, to make a big impact in the end. Karthik is at his best in this energetic number, and transfers the power of music to us. Watch out for an interlude by a group of female singers, which talks about Kannan's expertise in music.

Podu Podu Podungadi Listen here
Manika Vinayagam, Priya Hemesh

It should be a folk song if it has Manika Vinayagam at the helm of affairs. Priya Hemesh and the veteran male singer ensure that the foot-tapping number strike a chord. Kannan's tune gets good support not just from the singers, but from the lyricist too. The song could become a bigger hit post the film's release.

The album of 'Mye' celebrates love through music. Kannan is here to stay if he continues composing for films without taking a break.

ARAVAAN MUSIC REVIEW
Review by : P.G. Devi

Starring: Aadhi, Pasupathi, Dhansika
Direction: Vasantha Balan
Music: Karthik
Production: T.Siva ( Amma Creations )
Vocals: Vijay Prakash, Harini, MLR. Karthikeyan, Bhavatharani, Karthik, Krishnaraj, Mukesh, Periya Karuppu Thevar, Rita, Priya, Mano, Pasupathi, Kottaichami, Karunanidhi, Rahul Nambiar, Vijay Narain, Malathi, Harish, Gopal, Seerkazhi Sivachidambaram, Narayanan, Subhiksha
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar, Viveka

After the critically acclaimed hit of 'Angadi Theru', director Vasantha Balan has come up with Aravan, a film in which he has put almost a year-long effort in scripting. His new project is based on Su. Venkatesan's novel 'Kaaval Kottam', depicting the history of Madurai during 1310-1910. The director explains 'Aravan' as a man who has all the qualities of a macho hero. This period film stars Aadhi, Pasupathi, Dhansika in lead cast. Vasantha Balan who introduced G.V.Prakashkumar in Veyil, is now doing the honors to Karthik. Lets see if, Karthik who has proved his mettle in singing, could make a mark in the music department as well?

Nila Nila Poguthae...
Singers: Vijay Prakash, Harini
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

A soft-duet 'Nila Nila' takes off as a starter attempt to entice the audience. This mild-paced composition brings out the talented Vijay Prakash in tender huskier tones to the fore with Harini's luring singing support. Karthik's composition is a decent effort with lovable veena plucks that sync efficiently to churn out a feel-good melody.

Unna Kolla Poren...
Singers: MLR. Karthikeyan, Bhavatharani
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

Composer Kathik shows his folksy style by presenting this number that is expected to have more takers among commoners. Bhavatharani sounds a little different yet refreshing and joins MLR.Karthikeyan to add some zest to the ethnic piece. The song also features some old school cheesy lyrics from Na.Muthukumar like 'Neeyum naanum paartha pathu pulla purakum' .

Oruvaan Irruvaan...
Singers: Karthik
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

In 'Oruvan Iruvan' Karthik shows his resilience and potential to introduce the lead protagonist 'Aravan'. He displays his technical finesse by the impressive use of instruments like harmonium and violin in delectable arrangement. Karthik himself takes over as lead soloist to accentuate the raw feel in the track. A surprise number that sets itself apart from the other tracks, for its bold experimentation.

Oore Oore Ennapetha...
Singers: Krishnaraj, Mukesh, Periya Karuppu Thevar, Rita, Priya
Lyrics: Viveka

Festive village mood is well painted and captured in 'Oore Oore Ennapetha' track. Karthik produces a likable composition by making optimum usage of lively rural lyrics that set up a much desired rustic ambiance. An extensive list of singers ( Krishnaraj, Mukesh, Periya Karuppu Thevar, Rita, Priya ) in loud tones works perfectly to the situation.

Kalavuda...
Singers: Mano, Pasupathi, Kottaichami, Karunanidhi, Rahul Nambiar, MLR. Karthikeyan, Vijay Narain, Malathi, Harish
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

Like the previous number, 'Kalavu' is another rural offering that relies heavily on the aggressive lyrics. It is a thematically oriented narrative track sung by a more expansive array of artists that includes Mano, Pasupathi, Kottaichami, Karunanidhi, Rahul Nambiar, MLR. Karthikeyan, Vijay Narain, Malathi and Harish. With crazy sounds of horns and trumpets, this song is packaged as a situational number.

Naagamalai Sanchuidchu...
Singers: Gopal, Seerkazhi Sivachidambaram, Narayanan
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

The next track 'Naagamalai' turns as a composition which is nurtured with melancholic shades of orchestrations. It collages well with the 'Avan thaan Aravan' (Oruvaan Irruvaan) previous track to deliver out a somber tale. Gopal, Seerkazhi Sivachidambaram and Narayanan's voice evokes pathos and its painful hues.

Nanadakumara...
Singer: Subhiksha
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

The last to arrive is an impressive number by Subhiksha that is expected to go well among classy listeners. Presumed to be the classic (Bharathnatyam) dance number of this period film, which should work on-screen.

Without doubt, the music album of 'Aravan' will satisfy the taste buds of the patrons of true music. Favorites are 'Oruvaan Irruvaan', 'Nila Nila Poguthae' and 'Oore Oore Ennapetha'. Our suggestion is to give the album some time, for Karthik looks a good entry into the list of promising talented composers.

Verdict: Aravaan - Worth the listen.

OSTHI MUSIC REVIEW
Review by : P.G. Devi

Starring: Silambarasan, Jithan Ramesh, Richa Gangopadhyay, Sonu Sood, Revathi, Mallika Sherawat
Direction: S. Dharani
Music: Thaman. S
Production: Mohan Apparao T. Ramesh
Vocals: Baba Sehgal, Ranjith, Rahul Nambiar, Naveen Madhav, Thaman. S, Rita, Mahathi, Silambarasan, LR. Easwari, Vijaya T. Rajendar, Solar Sai
Lyrics: Vaali, Yugabharathi, Silambarasan

Osthi is the remake of the 2010 Salman Khan starrer blockbuster Dabangg. The film is directed by S. Dharani. The music is scored by Thaman, who is the man of the moment running high after the success of Dookudu audio in Telugu. With Sony Music bagging the audio rights for the film, the bar is set high for this full-fledged commercial entertainer. All Simbu's projects have been high on musical expectations because of his good rapport with the music directors. Lets see if the STR-Thaman combination rocks!

Osthi Maamey...
Singers: Baba Sehgal, Ranjith, Rahul Nambiar, Naveen Madhav
Lyrics: Vaali

Baba Sehgal's pompous and unique style of singing drives the opener, 'Osthi Maamey' in a loud, ballistic manner to introduce the cop in action. The full-spirited singer makes his trademark presence after 'Kaadhal Vanthalae' in 'Singham' which incidentally happens to be another cop flick. Thaman shows off his versatility with varying instrumental beats and typical Petta Rap mixes that adds to the listening charm. The music is fully loaded with aggressively punched one-liners from Vaali.

Unnale Unnale...
Singers: Thaman. S, Rita
Lyrics: Yugabharathi

Peppy Punjabi beats with ethnic beats brings out the freshness of the next track, 'Unnale Unnale'. Thaman sings his heart out in lovable tender tones in this "girl wooing" number which has a likable fusion composition. The well-nurtured and rendered middle interludes from Rita are mixed well in proportion. It entertains with impressive sounding vocals and pleasant mixing arrangements of Bangra patterns, despite its heard-before syndrome.

Pondatti...
Singers: Silambarasan
Lyrics: Silambarasan

It is a known norm that Silambarasan does the crooning and penning of at least one song in almost all of his musical endeavors. This album is no exception to it. 'Pondatti' song by Silambarasan is funky in spirit and snazzy in rendition. Thaman's mixing of various moods and tempo adds to the infectious nature of the song. This sultry track with its frivolously silly lyrics in the same genre of 'loosu penne', 'Aracha maava' songs, promises to be another big hit to its targeted audience. Great ring tone for the Romeos of this season!

Neduvaali...
Singers: Rahul Nambiar, Mahathi
Lyrics: Yugabharathi

Rahul Nambiar who received his FilmFare nomination for ‘Adada Mazhaida’ (Paiyaa) has done the enthused singing for the track 'Neduvaali'. Mahathi joins him to add feminine shades to the feisty number. The chorus 'Doomeelu than' is racy and is mixed hot-headedly for a foot tapping number. Thaman has cleverly given an upbeat musical packaging much to the delight of the audience.

Kalasala Kalasala...
Singers: LR. Easwari, Vijaya T. Rajendar, Solar Sai
Lyrics: Vaali

'Kalasala' is the much anticipated southern version of the chartbusting 'Munni badnaam hui' song from 'Dabanng'. The ace legendry singer LR. Ezswari who sang a one-liner in the Vikram starrer Arul, starts her reign of supremacy by rendering the item number in style along with Vijaya T. Rajendar. Fuelled with high beat and banging kuthu energy, Thaman has successfully managed to create a typical dancing feasting number. With the show stopper Mallika Sherawat on-board, it should only adds to the grandiose of the commercially promising dance number.

'Osthi' lives up to its huge expectations with generous mass entertainers like 'Kalasala Kalasala', 'Pondatti' and 'Neduvaali'. Thaman has made use of this opportunity to compose a commercially viable album that might not promise of a heart-warming melody or meaningfully penned song to cherish, yet will be one of the top musical grosser which will allure listeners with its hits.

Verdict: Osthi - 'Paisa Vasool' show.

RATTINAM MUSIC REVIEW
Review by : Kaushik L.M

Starring: Laguparan, Swathi
Direction: Thangasamy
Music: Manu Ramesan
Production: S Madhan
Vocals: Ajay Sathyan, Naveen Madhav, Srilekha Parthasarathy, Haricharan, Navin Iyer, Chinmayi, Karthik, Anoop Shankar, Jazzie Gift, Vidhu Prathap, Anoop Shankar, Bhavyalakshmi

This movie has a relatively unknown cast and crew. Directed by K.S. Thangasami, Raattinam is scored by Manu Ramesan. Both will be testing the challenging waters of Tamil cinema with Raattinam. This love story of school-going teens set amidst a village backdrop, is releasing this weekend. Does the soundtrack pass muster? Read on …

Asathum Azhagu…
Ajay Sathyan, Naveen Madhav, Srilekha Parthasarathy

A feel good song with foot tapping beats. It talks about the magic that a girl has created in a guy’s heart. The instrumentals compliment the happy mood of the song. The use of 2 male lead singers has added to the effect. A nice song to begin the album

Yeno En Idhayam…
Haricharan, Navin Iyer

A mellow love song with the contrasting voices of Haricharan and Navin. The beats are high on bass and there are some tasteful string, violin and saxophone instrumentals. Will depend on the visuals for added impact.

Yele Yepulla…
Chinmayi, Karthik

An energetic duet featuring 2 of the most consistent singers in the industry. They are perfectly in their comfort zones in this song. The song does get onto you immediately and is a worthy addition to the album. The trendy beats and the small instrumental bits featuring strings, violin add more class to the song

Yethu Yethu…
Anoop Shankar, Jazzie Gift

A folksy number with generous usage of the ‘thaara thappatta nadaswaram’ routine. Again the use of 2 male lead singers adds good value to the song. Doesn’t have anything new going for it. That said, the guitar instrumentals are really a good spark.

Yenakkulla…
Vidhu Prathap

A short number with good beats and poignant lyrics. It really picks up pace when the drums come into full force. Have to say this number is really trendy for a supposedly village flick.

Yakkai Suttrum…
Anoop Shankar, Bhavyalakshmi

A heavy experimental number loaded with philosophies and with a mystic quality. It is a bit loud for your liking though there are good flute instrumentals. Totally dependent on the visuals for more impact.

Verdict: Decent variety from the debutante composer who definitely has the talent. The songs have enough weight to support the movie’s fortunes in the coming weeks when it gets ready for release.

SRIDHAR MUSIC REVIEW
Review by : Kaushik L.M

Starring: Siddharth, Shruti Haasan, Hansika Motwani
Direction: Venu Sriram
Music: Rahul Raj
Production: Satish Film Corporation

The dubbed version of the Telugu movie “Oh My Friend” is getting a release in Tamil thanks to the star status of the lead players – Siddharth, Hansika and Shruti Haasan. Music has been provided by Rahul Raj, prominent Malayalam composer. Now onto an analysis of this dubbed movie’s soundtrack.

Natpukkillai Ellai…
Silambarasan

A song high on feeling and Silambarasan is a past master at infusing his heart and soul into any song that he sings. The way the song begins at high pitch is terrific. STR’s singing style is not text-bookish but it appeals for sure. This short number on friendship is trendy and might strike a chord with youngsters

Uyirin Suvarl Naane…
Suraj, Saindhavi

A beautiful melody which has a nice tempo, catchy beats and some mellifluous string instrumentals. Saindhavi sounds very fresh and when Suraj goes ‘Ho Un Punnagai’ in the high pitch, it compliments her beautifully. Previous songs in this ‘raaga’ have been very melodious and this one will be another worthy addition to the list.

Poove Neeyoru Vaarthai…
Vijay Yesudas

A song that talks about the conflicts between love and friendship & Vijay Yesudas infuses the required earnestness to it. He reminds us of his legendary father and that speaks of the stature of this talented singer. The instrumentals are in line with the melancholic mood of the song.

Siruvan Sirumiyai…
Aalap Raju, Rita

The hero wonders how a girl whom he has seen as a friend since childhood suddenly has become the subject of his romantic interest. A light hearted song, more like friendly banter, and the song doesn’t take itself too seriously. It looks like the team had fun putting together this song. It reflects in our listening experience as well.

En Daddy Pocket…
Rahul Nambiyar

A proper rock song with the required heavy guitar usage, enthusiastic singing, thumping beats and the works. Definitely an uplifting experience, this one is, with the crowd effects adding to the mood. Rahul Nambiar sounds authentic in his rock avatar.

Oh Oh My Friend
Aalap Raju

Another song high on tempo and energy. The guitar and the beats set the pace for this song straightaway. Aalap Raju delivers the required spirited brand of singing for this number that is on fast track mode. The guitar notes at the end are fitting.

Vegam Vegam Vegam…
Suraj, Priya Himesh

As the lyrics indicate, this song is fittingly fast. Doesn’t make much of an impression despite the decent effort from the singers. Too hurried maybe. There is a catchy rap thrown into the mix to add some spice to the song.

Verdict: The album doesn’t sound as if the songs are dubbed versions. They sound authentic and original. Kudos to the lyrics team for that. Musically, the album has a good mix of melodic and fast songs and it’s worth a shot...

THADAIYARA THAAKKA MUSIC REVIEW
Review by : Kaushik L.M

Starring: Arun Vijay, Mamta Mohandas
Direction: Magizh Thirumeni
Music: Thaman S
Production: Feather Touch Entertainments

After an extended gap Arun Vijay has a release. Directed by Magizh Thirumeni and co-starring Mamta Mohandas, Thadaiyara Thaakka has a very catchy title. Bollywood heroine Prachi Desai was supposed to be in this movie and her subsequent withdrawal made sure that this movie garnered some eye balls. Now, after a lull, the movie’s audio has released. Let’s analyze if Thaman’s golden run can lift this Arun Vijay movie to the ‘hit’ status.

Kelamale Kelamale Vazhkirai…
Aalap Raju, Rita

A very typical Thaman offering with synthesized vocals and an easy ring to the ears. Sounds good and upmarket-ish, but nothing new.

Naan Poondamalli Than…
Arun Vijay, L R Eswari, Solar Sai

The much hyped item number featuring the evergreen L.R.Eswari takes off from where Kalasala left off. This short song will be a hit in all probability for the very same reasons that Kalasala struck the bull’s-eye. The trailers have already shown what to expect from this song. It is interesting to see Arun Vijay’s name on the credits. The Déjà vu feeling creeps in but doesn’t matter for this genre of song.

Kalangal Kan Mun Paranthada…
Chinmayee, Javed Ali

A melodious duet which has a touch of melancholy running through it. The instrumentals and Chinmayi’s humming in the interludes are top notch. Javed Ali pitches in beautifully towards the end with his rendering of the ‘swaras’. On the whole, Chinmayi lifts this number that has a slight Yuvan touch.

Kelamalae (Unplugged)…
Rita, Thaman

An unplugged version of the first song with heavy usage of the synthesizer yet again. Would be interesting to hear Thaman’s voice in its natural mode as he always prefers to mix his voice to give it a heavy echo feel. Both the versions rate equally. Rita deserves a special mention for giving these songs a freshness and charm.

Theme Music…

The way the title of the movie is pitched into the instrumentals is impressive. The theme gives a haunting and mystic feel to the listeners thanks to the high pitched female chants. Inspite of all this, somehow the theme sounds disjointed.

Verdict: A decent effort from Thaman that passes muster. Nothing new or out of the world but, the songs do no harm either.

BILLA 2 MUSIC REVIEW
Review by : Kaushik L.M

Starring: Ajith Kumar, Parvathy Omanakuttan, Bruna Abdullah, Vidyut Jamwal, Sudhanshu Pandey
Direction: Chakri Toleti
Music: Yuvan Shankar Raja
Production: Suresh Balaje, George Pius, Sunir Khetrapal
Vocals: Yuvan Shankar Raja, Stefny, Shweta Pandit, Tanvi Shah, Suvi Suresh, Andrea Jeremiah, Ranjith,
Lyrics: Na Muthukumar

On Thala Ajith’s birthday, the audio of Billa 2 has released with tremendous buzz and expectations. Sony music has done a great job in marketing the audio release as a huge event with their proactive presence on the social networking space. Now, straight onto the audio review of this Yuvan musical.

Madurai Ponnu...
Andrea Jeremiah

A song with Arabic shades and a genre which is pretty familiar to Yuvan. He is a past master at such seductive yet rustic item numbers. ‘Theepidika’ will definitely come to mind. BGM bits from Mankatha surprisingly make an appearance at more than a few instances in this song which is apparently set in the backdrop of a brothel. Can expect to see some gyrating moves on screen thanks to the foot tapping ‘tavil’ beats and the bevy of item dancers, supposedly in this song.

Billa 2 theme …
Yuvan Shankar Raja

The legendary theme of Billa 2007 has been taken and made more intense with usage of heavy instruments. Suits the larger than life screen presence of Thala and the character of David Billa. The theme has a haunting as well as a pulsating quality to it, with the ending whistles taking the cake.

Yedho Mayakkam …
Yuvan Shankar Raja, Tanvi Shah and Suvi Suresh

A club song that can be predicted to set the dance floors on fire with its naughty and endearing quality, thanks to a super peppy effort by Tanvi Shah and Suri Suresh. The native ‘nadaswaram’ touches to this song are admirable. It would be interesting to see how Thala grooves to this super youthful song as such songs have been the trademark of the STR-Yuvan combo. Can expect this song to be on the playlist of all city slickers for some time to come. The pick of the album, without a shade of a doubt.

Gang Gang Gang …
Yuvan Shankar Raja and Stefny

The first teaser song that was released to tremendous response and as expected, its full version is terrific as well. The trance, hip-hop and techno touches to this song are typical of Yuvan. The lyrics expectedly reek of heroism and these are already in the hearts of all Thala fans. The tune revolves around the legendary theme music.

Idhayam …
Shweta Pandit

A mellifluous melody that has a haunting mood to it thanks to the tasteful usage of tabla, flute and veena. This song is sort of a female reprise to ‘Engeyo Paartha’ from ‘Yaaradi Nee Mohini’. Shweta Pandit will probably put up stiff competition to the likes of Shreya Ghoshal. Such is her rendition in this song. Would be interesting to see the romantic side of Ajith in this song.

Unakkulle Mirugam ...
Ranjith

This song talks about the animal that resides in each human being and the philosophies of David Billa, the man. The treatment of the song is hardcore ‘Rock’. The theme music makes a guest appearance as part of the instrumentals of this song as well.

Verdict: The songs have given even more push to the pre-release buzz that has already been hitting the peak. The Thala Yuvan combo continues to rock with another youthful album. Until the next biggie comes around, Billa 2 will stay on top of the charts merrily.

MAYANGINEN THAYANGINEN MUSIC REVIEW
Review by : Kaushik L.M

Starring: Nitin Sathya, Disha Pandey, Ganja Karuppu
Direction: S.T. Vendhan
Music: Kannan
Production: T Rajeshwari
Vocals: Thilaka, Sathya Prakash, Mukesh, Chinnaponnu, Swetha, Vijay Prakash, Haricharan
Lyrics: Yugabharathi, Viveka, Ilaya Kamban

Directed by newcomer Vendhan and starring Nitin Sathya and Disha Pandey, this movie highlights the issue of sexual abuse reported from some mental asylums in Tamil Nadu. Nitin plays a call-taxi driver who falls in love with a call center girl whom he has not met. The music has been provided by Kannan who is looking for a solid hit to establish his credentials in the industry. Now, onto the music review.

Mayanginen Thayanginen...
Thilaka (female version) / Sathya Prakash (male version)
Lyrics: Viveka

A song that has very mild instrumentals and lets the lead singer go through her routine in a very melodious manner. There is a male version of the same song as well, which follows pretty much the same pattern. Two short and sweet songs more like lullabies.

Aadi Varum Thera Adungada…
Mukesh, Chinnaponnu
Lyrics: Yugabharathi

There are numerous such songs before this but the genre of this song is such that it is likeable instantly. Addictive beats and energetic singing make this a harmless experience. Can expect some fast dance moves and happy moments on screen. A trademark ‘thiruvizha’ song.

Kaduvulin Koil…
Swetha
Lyrics: Ilaya Kamban

A mellow song with a slow tempo and poignant lyrics. The violin instrumentals go with the mood of the song. Swetha’s voice is silky as always and the chorus by the children adds to the touching quality of the song. There is an unmistakable Ilayaraja touch in this song,

Kanavinil Neeyum…
Vijay Prakash
Lyrics: Yugabharathi

This song has light shades of ‘Nenjil Nenjil’ from ‘Engeyum Kadhal’. There are some flowing violin instrumental interludes in this one with Vijay Prakash bringing in the required amount of expression and feeling to the song. The female lead adds more value to this lilting melody towards the end.

Unnai Vittu Ponaal…
Haricharan
Lyrics: Viveka

A love-failure song which is dramatic and Haricharan is the right singer to deliver the goods for this song. The violin has been used well in this song as well, reminiscent of Raja.

Verdict: On the whole, an album with the focus clearly on melody. Kannan has brought out a decent album which is worth a shot.

KALAKALAPPU MUSIC REVIEW
Review by : Kaushik L.M

Starring: Vimal, Anjali, Shiva, Oviya, Santhanam
Direction: Sundar C
Music: Vijay Ebenezer
Production: Kushboo
Vocals: Krish, Dr. Burn, Mili Nair, Amitabh Narayan, Rahul Nambiar, Sheeba Truman, Steevevatz, Suchithra Karthik, Devan, Prashanthini, Karthik, Anitha
Lyrics: Pa.Vijay

Earlier titled Masala Café, Kalakalappu happens to be Sundar.C’s return to his primary profession – direction. It also happens to be his 25th film. There is an ensemble cast featuring young, upcoming stars. The glamorous avatar of hitherto homely belles, Anjali and Oviya, has ensured that this movie has got enough and more eyeballs. Of course, Santhanam is there. Vijay Ebenezer of ‘Kanden’ fame provides the music. Let’s see if his debut was just a flash in the pan or whether he is here to stay with Masala Cafe.

Angelina…
Krish, Dr. Burn &Mili Nair

There is a very similar song in ‘Kanden’ (UnnaiKandene). Still, the peppy, energetic rap of Dr. Burn (reminiscent of Akon) makes this song a winner. Krish sounds very similar to the aforementioned song.

Ivalunga Imsai Thaanga Mudiyala…
Amitabh Narayan

The lead singer’s pronunciation is bad to say the least. Nevertheless, a song that talks about the unsolvable riddle that women are. A nice slow paced ‘gaana’ number. The references to Kannadasan and Kamal Haasan are striking. Might visit the charts for the naughty and light hearted quality that the song has.

Masala Café…
Rahul Nambiar, Sheeba Truman & Steevevatz

This song is another joy ride. The song gives you a happy and cheerful mood. Might probably be the intro song featuring the two heroes. A festive atmosphere can be expected in the theaters when this song plays out. The lyrics harp on the joy aspect while also being inspirational.

Mokkamanusha…
Steevevatz & Suchithra Karthik

The joy aspect continues into this song as well. This is a masala soaked duet literally and one can expect some glamour on screen.

The male lead has shades of Srikanth Deva’s voice. The entire song sounds like one of Yuvan and Simbu’s collaborations. The ‘life e masala’ refrain makes the song endearing.

Unnaipattri Unnidame…
Devan & Prashanthini

A romantic song with a tune that has been heard innumerable times before, but, sounds good. The ‘nadaswaram’ notes are a surprise addition to the song and the flute instrumental interlude accompanied by the female humming before the second stanza is top notch.

Ava Thirumbipaarthu…
Karthik & Anitha

This is a solo from Karthik. Sounds pleasant but the tune is notoriously familiar to many hit songs of the recent past. Remember ‘Kalangathaala’ from ‘Venghai’? This song gives a soft finish to the album to make it six songs in all, for the listener. Wonder which of the two pairs will be featured in this song or will it be both?

Verdict: A nice collection of numbers. The focus is equally on masala and melody songs as well. The songs of Sundar’s 25th venture sound good for sure.

MANAM KOTHI PARAVAI MUSIC REVIEW
Review by : Kaushik L.M

Starring: Siva Karthikeyan, Athmeeya, Soori, Singampuli
Direction: S.Ezhil
Music: D. Imman
Production: S.Ezhil, Ambethkumar, Ranjeev Menon
Vocals: Saisharan, S.Malavika, Aalaap Raju, Surmukhi, Santhosh Hariharan, Javed Ali, Vijay Prakash, Chinmayi Sripada
Lyrics: Yugabharathi

One time hotshot director S. Ezhil is making a comeback with current crowd favorite Siva Karthikeyan in the lead. Ezhil has a reputation for making clean family entertainers. Imman has been entrusted with the music and Imman has a pretty decent track record in the industry. Is he in good form? Let’s find out.

Dang Dang…
Saisharan and S.Malavika

After the super success of the ‘Jingu Chikka’ song in ‘Mynaa’, Imaan traverses on a very similar path with this song. It is foot tapping but the sheer magic created by the earlier song is hard to live up to. The singers have the required fizz to make the song enjoyable, nevertheless. Can visit the charts for sure but real popularity can be expected only when the film hits the screens.

Jal Jal Jal Oosai…
Aalaap Raju and Surmukhi

Aalaap Raju seems to have enjoyed himself singing this romantic number. The beats are likable while the tabla percussions and the instrumentals comprising flute and Spanish guitar make sure the song retains the charm right through.

Oorana Oorukkulla…
Santhosh Hariharan

This is a folksy number ridden with a bit of pathos in the lyrics. The violin adds to the mellow mood of the song. The beats are energetic and make sure the song is entertaining. The lead singer is expressive. As the hero sings about his skewed love life, we can expect the scene to be of the hero along with a group of his friends.

Po Po Po…
Javed Ali

The name of the song gives an idea about the genre of the song straightaway, a love failure song again. Javed Ali is back after a small hiatus and his pronunciation is much polished compared to some of his previous efforts in Tamil. The instrumentals before both the stanzas are dramatic and have elaborate arrangements. The end violin instrumentals make the song even more passionate. This song might find many takers in the male crowd.

Yenna Solla…
Vijay Prakash, Chinmayi Sripada

The song begins on a classy note with strings and what follows is a likable duet which has tasteful instrumentals with a lot of variety. The guitar usage in particular and the female chorus endear the song even more. The song moves at a steady pace with pretty heavy percussive usage.

Verdict: Imman has a winner with this Ezhil movie. After ‘Mynaa’ the expectations from him are high and this album has done no harm to his status as a composer of note.

NAAN EE MUSIC REVIEW
Review by : Kaushik L.M

Starring: Nani, Samantha, Sudeep
Direction: S S Rajamouli
Music: Maragatha Mani
Production: PVP Cinemas
Vocals: Ranjith, Deepu, Rahul Sipligunj, Sravana Bhargavi, Chaitra, Vijay Prakash
Lyrics: Karky

Blockbuster hit maker S.S. Rajamouli is getting into Tamil cinema with this bilingual featuring upcoming stars Samantha and Nani. Both of them are taking their baby steps in Tamil cinema while Kannada superstar Sudeep will be making his first Tamil appearance. The audio was released recently. Star Telugu composer Keeravani aka Maragathamani is making a comeback to Tamil cinema through this. Let’s see if he has lived up to his standards.

Eedaa Eedaa...
Ranjith

Starts off with Hindi lyrics as is expected from most of the actual Telugu songs. The theme of the movie (a housefly (ee) taking revenge on the villain) has been translated into this song. The song is fast paced and can be expected to be accompanied by some graphically enhanced visuals of the ‘ee’ going about its business. The treatment of the song is pretty vociferous given the passionate lyrics about revenge, the ‘kollanum’ segment in particular. It really picks up steam with the ‘Eedaa Eedaa’ refrain. Might visit the charts.

Eedaa Eedaa (Remix)...
Ranjith, Deepu, Rahul Sipligunj, Sravana Bhargavi, Chaitra

There is a remix version of the same song which is pretty chaotic and follows the general remix pattern. A shrill synthesized voice has been overused in this remix. On the whole, the remix is nowhere near the original.

Konjam Konjam...
Vijay Prakash

The guitar instrumentals are the standout aspect of this romantic song. Vijay Prakash in low pitched mode sounds cheerful nevertheless. The uncanny resemblance to composer Bharadwaj’s voice is unmistakable. It is a different experience on the whole, given the unhurried pace and the tasteful instrumental arrangements.

Lava Lava...
Achu, Shivani

Starts off in low pitched mode with base instrumentals before moving into a very spirited ‘Lava Lava’ refrain with rock guitar accompaniments. It’s admirable that veteran composer Maragathamani aka Keeravani is so trendy. An entertaining offbeat number that could find many takers.

Veesum Velichathile...
Karthik, Sahithi

This song is a nice pleasant melody with minimum fuss. Karthik brings his trademark charm to this song which sounds like a lullaby. The mouth organ instrumentals add a nice finishing touch to this sure-shot melody. Though the heard before feel dominates, the song sounds good.

Verdict: A nice compilation of numbers by Maragathamani, as he makes a comeback to Tamil cinema through this bilingual. If the film delivers what is expected, then some of the songs will catch on in a big way, particularly the title song.

ANIL MUSIC REVIEW
Review by : Kaushik L.M

Starring: Anil Bharath, Ashrith Bhanu, Vineeth Shankar, Dibesh Dikkubai Vijay, Pradeepa, Dhanalakshmi
Direction: ARS
Music: S R Shankar
Production: A Sreenivasan

Looks like the movie ‘Anil’ is about school life and a realistic one at that, looking at the poster and the tag line. The screenplay, dialogues and direction for 'Anil' is by ARS who is debuting in Tamil cinema through this film. The music has been provided by S.R.Shankar who is another first-timer. An analysis of his work follows.

Anilu Anilu
ARS, Vineeth Shankar

This song introduces us to the movie’s title in no uncertain terms. The word ‘Anilu’ is repeated countless times and at varied paces. A cheeky and likeable number. A short interesting effort to kick-off the album. Can’t make much sense from the lyrics apart from the fact that a lot of women are referred to.

Ada Aadipadungada
Mukesh and chorus

The song starts off by calling out a lot of different men and of course the word ‘Anilu’ is a major part of the build up to the song. A cheerful, feel-good fast number that talks about living life happily as the name of the song indicates. There are some typical kuthu elements like heavy percussions.

Manasukkul Oru
NK Priyanka

A sweet romantic melody with the pretty naïve and raw voice of NK Priyanka, the lead singer. It moves along at a gentle pace without any ups or downs. The saxophone and violin instrumental interludes add some more charm to the song. The violin instrumentals prove the composer’s adeptness at classical music.

Dinam Dinam Unnai
Swetha Menon, Haricharan

Starts off in ‘Hindustani’ mode with the male singer singing ‘swaras’ in high pitch, accompanied by tabla. Then it becomes a typical romantic duet. Nothing special but, the song doesn’t hurt the eardrums as well. Has some decent singing from the mellifluous Swetha Menon. The small Hindustani touches are the highlight of the song.

Vanthavanum Sari Illai …
Pazhaniammal

A folksy number to end the album. This one will surely strike the right chord with the masses with its earthy flavor. The voice of the female lead singer gives the necessary spunk to this song.

A female rants about her ill-luck with the men in her life. There is also a message for the men, about the bad effects of drinking alcohol. The ‘nadaswaram’ interludes go with the mood of the song.

Verdict: A nice effort with good variety. There are a couple of melodies, a nice folk number and an offbeat number thrown in the mix. This composer will be noted with interest in the coming days. Hope he gets good projects in future...
