The phenomenal victory of the first two seasons of

Vijay TV</a>’s most popular reality hunt,
<a title="Airtel" href="http://www.usertube.com/browse-Airtel-Super-Singer-3-videos-1-date.html">
Airtel Super Singer</a> has paved way to launch the third season. Nikhil Mathew
and Ajeesh have become house-hold names across Tamilnadu. Following the
footsteps of Nikhil Mathew who was launched by Harris Jeyaraj, Airtel Super
Singer 2008 winner Ajeesh also had rendered his melodious voice to Yuvan
Shankar’s musical, with ‘Ithuvarai ilaatha unarvidhu’ a duet song pairing with
Andrea for the film Goa.

Prize money that is never before awarded to any winner so far would be given
away in this season. The ground level auditions took place at Chennai where
thousands of and aspiring
young singers took part. Those interested could also send their voice recorded
on a CD / cassette or could attend the ground audition that is set to take place
in the coming weeks at Tiruchy and Coimbatore.

For the first time ever a panel of eight members like Suvi Suresh, Dr.
Lavanya, J.K.V.Roshni, Krishna Iyer, Anitha, Sowmya, Ajeesh and Ravi were the
Judges on Airtel Super Singer 3 ground auditions. They selected those
contestants who deserved to move on to the next level. Also eminent singing
personalities like S.P.Shylaja, Unni Menon, Pop Shalini and Carnatic vocalist
Sowmya were the Judges for the second level of the preliminary auditions in
Chennai.

Airtel Super Singer 3 promises to be bigger than its predecessors. The
initial episodes of Airtel Super Singer would feature the auditions phase of
various zones. Unique themes like melody, folk, western, duet, one-on-one,
unplugged, and many more would be the challenges that be thrown.

Popular playback singers Srinivas, Unni Krishnan and Sujatha would be the
Judges for the Airtel Super Singer 3. Do not miss to watch the all new Airtel
Super Singer 3 that is set to launch from July 12, 2010 every Monday – Thursday
at 9pm on Vijay TV.

Of all the really talented people that could participate in this show, it bewilders me how someone like Vijitha Mylvaganam even got a chance to embarrass herself on behalf of all the people here. Seriously to bring that issue about SL Tamils being put down is a very legitimate issue, but what is its place in a Talent Show? I certainly hope that isn't her excuse! Just judging a singer based on merit, it is true that Elizabeth, Shantiya, Vijitha all are sub par even compared with the other International contestants. For goodness sake Vijitha stop speaking for us all...it's already awful enough to sit through such cringe-worthy performances!

Nirjani's performances were the real shocker for me (who is a friend of a friend and who has participated in concerts where I've done some MC work)...I really thought she must be going through a real rough patch...unfortunately I doubt parents whose kids are learning singing from her will be as sympathetic....

True ..They started announcing from bottom 3rd runner up ,then prepared to announce 2nd runner up .. Suddenly Siva Karthikeyan asked Danush to announced the winner ..After that , only 2nd and 1st runner up left .. they should have announced who is 1st runner up ..Instead , made this mess and when Satya prakash's name announced most including Sathya prakash family , sathosh and his family thought it was sathya bagged 2nd place and won the car and Sathya's family celebrating ..Later , Santhosh ,who left unnoticed , realised it was he who bagged second spot to win the car ..Kuzhappathin uchham :lol:

The second choice of the song of Pooja's did not sound so great at the finale. Satya Prakash did a great job on the 'omaNap peNNE' song with appropriate expressions. Santhosh does have a nice voice to prove that he can sing. But when Sai Charan sang 'maganE, maganE' of 'mazhaiththuLi mazhaiththuLi maNNil sangamam' those words brought tears to my eyes, though I'm not an emotional person. I can imagine tamilnadu's emotional people to vote for him at the last moment to win the title.

Absolutely ! I just dont understand why some people cannot still understand that all these are just eye wash. MaganE'nu uruginathu kanneera kondu vanthuchuthannaa santhosh 2nd vanthathu'ku enna kaaranam? In almost all social media networks I see more than 90% condemning the result. Sai's rendition of mazhaithuLi was close to crap. There was no feel at all and the song did not suit his gara gara un pleasant voice. At least MSV portion'aavathu suit aagumnu paartha adhuvum flop. Paattum naanae was another let down.

Regarding sms kaNthudaippu, some companies provide the facility of sending bulk sms (means lacks of sms in favour or one contestant). Some contestants pay a couple of lacks to these companies and get the sms job done (means kaLLa voteu. NaamaLae vote pOttu namaLae jeyikkiRa system). Sms voting becomes valid only when they accept 1 sms from any number and stop this bulk sms nonsense. Even that will not work with all the Channel politics. Winner is pre-decided and even if the decided person is unable to sing in the finals - he/she would still win. Sms is the easiest way for them to cheat people and save the skins of production team and judges. MakkaL maela pazhiya pOttutu avanga enna vaenaalum seyyalaam. No body is going to question the so called makkaL.

Anyway happy that Dhanush is offering SathyaPrakash a chance to sing in his next film.

my order is satya,sai,pooja and then finally santosh...but i am still ok with sai winning the title....but i am just a judge who has no powers to decide....the people have decided....and i am sad music has taken a back seat especially with santosh winning the second...but congrats to sai,he was real real good and sang with fire....happy for sai,even for santosh but satya and pooja deserved much more...let me see what i can do...

Please dont insult the taste of Public for the mistakes done by others. It happened due to the failure of the entire system. It is the same public whiich has recognised you as a singer and all the other greats in the music world"

Looks like there's a postmortem of sorts of the grandfinale happening since yesterday. Beating a dead horse thingy.
I didnt see the whole show, but just happened to see a big panel of pachAyat thalaivars awarding, something called a 'best singer of the grand finale' to Satya.

Thinking aloud: If the show ain't rigged (a family friend who used to work at Vijay claims the judging could be biased, but there's no complete rigging), I think, at least in the seniors competition, the college-going dudes invariably end up getting a clout of the votes, taking them to victory (case in point: Ajeesh, Sai, Santosh. Satya not a student, eh?).

Judges are biased and votes are rigged. I know inside out about the bulk sms thing. May be it was not in practice at the time your friend used to work for Vijay TV. Moreover the voting system gets completely criminalised when you have the option of any number of votes from a number.The best way is to change the judges time to time and not to depend on public voting. A set of judges for qualifying round, then another set up to the Quarter Finals, then someone else for Semis and the finals have to be decided by a group of judges comprising all who have done the job from start to semis. They can have a secret ballot through which the judges vote and decide the winner. Panel should have some MDs as well. But first of all the production team itself has to be honest and unbiased and leave the job to the judges and contestants. This is highly unlikely with Vijay TV ( or may be with with any channel - Lakshmi becoming the title winner of Hariyudan Naan is another bitter example). The good thing is the talented ones anyway get recognised by the masses and also by some experts in the respective industry, irrespective of the iththupOna final result of the competition.

BTW, hope people know that Priyanka who did not even make it to the semi finals in Junior 2(basically due to Vijay TV politics) has already sung for YSR and Dhina and have got a couple of assignments in hand. A bigger achievement than of Alka's.

தனிப்பட்ட விதத்தில் சாய் சரணின் சங்கீத புலமை பற்றி எனக்கு தெரியாது (முறைப்படி சங்கீதம் தெரியாது என்பதால்) என்றாலும் Roshan சொன்னது போல குரலில் எப்போதும் ஒரு கரகர தன்மை இருப்பதாகவே எனக்கு தோன்றும் ..இனிமையான குரலாக நான் எப்போதும் உணர்ந்ததில்லை ..ஆனால் நடுவர்கள் ஆகா ஓகோ எனும் போது நான் அறியாத சங்கீத காரணிகள் அபரிமிதமாக இருக்கக் கூடும் என்றே நினைப்பேன் ..ஆனாலும் ஏதோ ஒன்று miss ஆவது போன்ற எண்ணத்தை தவிர்க்க முடிந்ததில்லை .

சந்தோஷைப் பொறுத்தவரை குறைந்த பட்சம் அந்த இனிமை இருந்தது . ஆனால் அந்த அளவுக்கு தொழில்நுட்பம் இல்லை என்பதும் புரிந்து கொள்ள முடிகிறது ..சத்ய பிரகாஷைப் பொறுத்தவரை இந்த இனிமை , தொழில்நுட்பம் இரண்டும் வாய்க்கப்பெற்ற ஒருவராக உணர முடிந்தது ..அவர் வெற்றி பெற தகுதியுள்ளவர் .ஏன் பெறவில்லை என்பது சம்பந்தப்பட்டவர்களுக்கே வெளிச்சம் .

மக்கள் வாக்கு எண்ணிக்கை உண்மையென்றால் சாய்-க்கும் சத்யாவுக்கும் உள்ள வாக்கு வித்தியாசத்தை எப்படி நியாயப்படுத்துவதே என்றே தெரியவில்லை ..இருக்கவே இருக்கு ..மக்கள் தீர்ப்பே .மகேசன் தீர்ப்பு :)

Makkal theerpu is Mahesan theerpu, provided makkal casts this much vote. But now a days the bulk sms, group sms etc plays a vital role. The contestant itself can cast numerous votes for himself. When the prize is 40 lacs, spending 2 - 3 lakhs for sms is nothing. This system is wrong. The Jaya TV producer Shubashree Thanikachalam has replied to Srinivas in FB that there should always be 2 people when it comes to public voting - the real super singer selected by judges and the viewers' choice for the one who gets maximum votes. She is right in saying that the one who gets maximum votes need not be the best singer. VTV has to learn this. If they do not take this hint then they have to face this kind of criticism again. (VTV will continue to get criticism as such acts also raise TRP !!!)

The reason Laksmi won in Hariyudan Naan is solely because of James Vasanthan and Hariji's support and not because of public voting. You could have observed a sea of difference in the performance between Ravishankar and Lakshmi. Even we felt Sharanya was way better than Lakshmi, But what happened? We can talk either way. In Hariyudan Naan we didn't get fair result, just because of judges, but in SS3, we didn't get fair result because of makkal theerppu. :smile:

Another thing I would like to bring out, is I agree Sai does not have good voice, which is not his fault. So his chance to be playback singer is low which is also true, but having all this limitations, he has proved substantially against all positives of Sathya. I certainly believe in the semi final round, judges were little partial towards Sathya, as according me (and our friends here) Sai performed well in semis compared to Sathya only to be knocked out. Just imagine, the other way round, like Satya getting eliminated in semis and making it in wild card and coming to finals. Or even judges fairly announcing both Sathya and Sai joining finals from semis. Definitely that night would have been to Sathya. So what I see is, judges by giving Sathya a lead of 1/2 mark in semis and pushing him to finals is like 'yaanai than meleye mann vaari potta maathiri'. Even though everyone agree (including the judges who became neutral in finals, compared to semis) that Sathya performed better than Sai in finals (that second song especially), it had a reverse effect on people who watched bitterly the semis. So we cannnot say because of public voting he won and because of judges he lost and all. Again all my opinion.

I know that she was favoured by James and Hari and I quit watching it half way only because of James and Hari's bias decisions. I dont know as to how they picked the winners in the finals but I was under the impression that Ravi was judges choice and they made Lakshmi the joint winner and put the blame on makkaL theerppu. Adhathaan solla vanthaen.

Regarding Sai, from what ever the few episodes I have seen he is not that great. He's got a reasonably good classical background, but he has got a very careless attitude. Oru completeness irukkaathu in his singing. Most of the time he doesnt get the ending notes of the lines correct. As Joe rightly mentioned evvaLavu try paNNi paadinaalum yaethO onnu missing maathiri irunthuchu. And in wild card Srinivas was THE best and Sai was basically in line with Malavika, Dhanyashree etc. Srinivas was damn good and that speco lean guy (I forgot his name) was also reasonably good with a good voice. My point is bringing in voting to justify Sai's victory is completely unacceptable as the voting process is not all genuine. MakkaL are surely not fools to push Sathya and Pooja to 3rd and 4th place.

Srinivas avarOda FB page's shutdown paNRa aLavukku kaeLvi kanaigaL, thittugaL. Which ever sites that mentioned about SS3 are screaming their throats out against Vijay TV. I even saw some twitter messages of public to Selva Raghavan, Dhanush and GVP with "intha aniyaayatha thatti kaekka maatteengaLaa" tone. Glad it went to that extent and I also saw SR responding that "he cannot do anything about the decision but he has decided to offer a chance to Satya in his next venture". Vijay TV would have learnt a few lessons for sure. Can expect some changes in SSJ3. Sudha was telling me about the kaN thudaippu epsiode of last week. Paavam Sai, idhukku award'a thiruppi vaangi irukkalaam. Award'um vaangi udhaiyum vaanguRa maathiri aayiduchu. I am sure he must be feeling really down with all negative comments around. It's all becaue of Channel politics and their mafia activities.

Whether its public voting or "expert" judgi, naadharithanam pannanum-nu mudivaayitta ellame kadaisiyila onnu dhaan. Its not that ASS was all fair and injustice was done only in the final.

About Sai, i would take his so-called rough voice over Sathya's ultra-soft voice any day of the week. Ganeer nu irukku avan kural, enna korachal-nen. IMO, he and Srinivas were the ones to watch out for.

The consolation episodes were extremely distasteful. The judges behaved like a bunch of AHs. Absolutely and unmistakably humiliating to Sai Charan. Idhukku avana asingama thittirukkalaam. Of course, Sathya deserved much more but you don't do it by insulting the winner, whether you like it or not.

Just watched Sathyaprakash's performance of Senthamizh thaen mozhiyaaL.. What a dynamic voice.. He sounds very professional with modulations. Another plus point is he is pacca with the diction and capable of changing his diction style as per the original song so that the mood of the song doesnt get affected.

Praveen going places

Local singer Pravin Saivi is hoping to make his own mark as he officially embarks on his career as a recording artiste.

He's working on his debut international Tamil album, which features a mix of acoustic world music and electronica synth. It's scheduled for release in January under his own label PS Music.

It was his musician father's accomplishments which inspired him. With a tinge of pride in his voice, the 28-year-old said of his dad, the late L. Krishnasamy: "He was THE Indian musician in the 60s.

"When he passed away in May 1996, I was only 13 and didn't realise the full magnitude of his death until I was much older."

Besides composing two national songs, Engal Naadu and Engal Singapoor, Krishnasamy also founded the band Febra in the 1960s, which performed both locally and in India, and was the leader of the then-Singapore Broadcasting Corporation's Indian Orchestra.

"Throughout my life, I received quite a bit of pressure from my mother, four sisters and other family friends to become a musician," the boisterous Saivi told The New Paper, joking that being the youngest child and the only son in the family did not help.

Saivi said: "I did my national service (from 2003 to 2005) in the SAF Music & Drama Company.

"My microphone was my rifle," he joked.

Saivi's repertoire - extensive, if rather low-key - included performances at the Singapore Arts Festival in 2006, the Mosaic Music Festival in 2008 and in the 2005 to 2010 editions of the annual Kalaa Utsavam - Indian Festival of Arts at the Esplanade.

But the turning point for Saivi's career came this year when he placed eighth in Star Vijay's Airtel Super Singer 3 competition in India in July, the highest position for all international contestants.

Saivi, who described the competition as the South Indian version of American Idol, also won the Best Overseas Contestant and Best Entertainer awards during the competition, which ended in September.

He said of his Best Entertainer award: "In India, the audience is perhaps not used to (an entertainer like) me, where I dance and move constantly on stage while I sing to engage the audience visually.

"Singaporeans are a very multicultural audience and are definitely more familiar with the concept of singers who are also stage entertainers."

He added with a chuckle: "In fact, as the competition wore on, I could see the Indian contestants attempting to copy my style."

This is the first season that the competition has featured international contestants, nine of them hailing from as far as Canada and Norway.

Saivi did not expect to advance so far in the show, saying: "I went into the competition with no pressure on myself... to be there just to sing and have fun while doing so.

"The fanbase in India is huge - I had no clue beforehand as to the reach of the show.

"Star Vijay (a TV channel owned by the News Corporation media conglomerate) has a truly international reach."

Saivi attributes part of his success in the competition to vocal coach Ananth Vaidyanathan, who appeared regularly on the show to critique contestants.

Mr Vaidyanathan had trained the contestants between episodes.

Saivi said: "Before the competition began, I was always trying very hard to sing properly.

"Now, singing just comes naturally to me."

Saivi's new-found fame in India after the competition also brought with it some burdens.

He said: "In India, as long as you are an entertainer, you will be recognised, like it or not.

"When I'm eating in a restaurant in Chennai, I would have to stop and talk to some fans for at least 20 minutes or more.

"Here in Singapore, I can still be anonymous.

"In fact, ironically, I come home to Singapore for a holiday (away from fans)."
