Ajith Kumar was born as the middle child in Secunderabad, a city north of Hyderabad to a Palakkad Iyer from Kerala and a Sindhi mother, and was brought up in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Ajith began speaking Tamil only after entering films. He dropped out of Asan Memorial Senior Secondary School in 1986 before completing his higher secondary. He took up work as a two wheeler auto mechanic, and got himself a driver's licence to coincide with his interests, that of car / bike racing. At 18, Ajith had to take up a job to support his career in racing. Joining as an apprentice, he rose to be a merchandiser with a garment export company, doing small-time press ads and TV commercials occasionally. He had put a lot of money into racing and would borrow tyres from his friends who used to help when the chains wore out as there was no money in racing at that time. Following an accident, several business agencies pushed him into modeling for advertisements in print media. He had to make a choice between films and racing, and as the movies were happening and generating him some money, he began concentrating on it. Aged 20, Ajith was selected by Telugu film producers, Lakshmi Productions, to star in their film; however shooting was stalled soon after filming began, following the death of the film's director.

But few people took it a level further and started projecting him as an outsider who is against Tamil interests. I was referring to them. So, As you mentioned 'Vanthaarai vaazhavaikkum thamizhagam'. RS Infotainment will sign up Ajith for its next production venture; say sources close to the production house. The production house is all set to release Muppozhudhum un Karpanaigal, which stars Atharva and Amala Paul as the lead pair, tomorrow and are planning on their next venture.

Ajith’s next will be for Vishnuvardhan. After completing this project, he is expected to team up with RS Infotainment. The director and other cast and crew will be finalized only after the star completes Billa 2 and Vishnuvardhan’s project.

Director Venkat Prabhu has said that he met Ajith recently after a long time. The director said that they recalled their Mankatha shooting days during this meet. Venkat added that Ajith is keen on working with him again when he mentioned that they should be joining hands together.

The director says that Ajith had told him that they must soon join hands for a film. Following this, Venkat is working on a script that will suit the Thala.

Mankatha had Ajith and Trisha as the lead pair with a number of other actors like Premji Amaren, Mahat Raghavendra and others onboard.

The souls in our society crave for people who share common goals or interests to beat the boredom. One best way is to get our self engaged in a Hobby. I’m writing this to promote a Hobby that is still unpopular within our Indian community though it is renowned in other parts of Asia and other continents. I’m into this nearly for a year and excited to share the information for those who want to learn or looking for guidance. Our Ajith (Thala) is man of simplicity – a soul with an extra-ordinary passion for Hobbies. Yep ! it’s the RC (Radio Control) Hobby.

You might have heard or would have longed to fly a RC Helicopter or Airplane or Jet or ride Motorcycles or Drift cars & Trucks. It’s a challenging hobby that will take your mind off the stress and also trigger inquisitiveness as to why I couldn’t, if you don’t fly responsibly. I started with Car, Bike, Trucks but found myself more inclined towards Planes, War birds & Jets. “Learning to fly” is a dream for many people around the world. The great thing about RC plane flying is that each day will be a new experience to learn new techniques to master. This is when we could really say wholeheartedly …. Learning is fun!

Just a peek on the range of Planes/Jet/War Birds. It’s available in Electric, Nitro engine and Turbine engine versions, with electric planes 2,3 channels for the beginners to start with. On mastering that, you would automatically go up the ladder with 4,5,6,7,8,9 channels. A learner could look for RTF (Ready to Fly) planes/Heli which comes with Plane, built-in electronics, Transmitter, Receiver, Battery & Chargers and then move on to BNF (Bind & Fly) that comes with only plane, electronics, receiver & battery. Next level shall be PNF (Plug & Fly) which would have only Plane and electronics. Other 2 levels are ARF (Almost ready to fly) which may not carry all the electronics and the Kit version is just the air frame. These are applicable for the planes made out of EPO Foam, Balsa Wood and Fiber glass. The complete R/C package RTF that gets beginners airborne in under an hour! A perfect category to start with. And when it comes to the cost you have a wide range of choices based on your preferences. Also one could build their own plane!!

I would say, we would need to appreciate those involved in developing such RC fields in our country. How many of us know that there is an airfield - located about 100 kms from Chennai on NH45. The runway is managed by RCPA founded by K.Aravind (Rotor Sport) and by Ajith (our Thala). The runway is designed by Ajith as per AMA norms (http://www.modelaircraft.org). Needless to say, Ajith is a great guy.

Initially my attempt was unsuccessful at flying. After continuous effort I was encouraged when I saw my plane soaring up in the air. We have a pilot among us who flies the Jet with Turbine engine… that’s our Thala Ajith. Why don’t we join hands with experts already in the field and develop this hobby which would encourage others in this community. Today, China stands number one in RC product manufacturing & Marketing. If we sow in the seed of interest in building this hobby today, who knows this might help us economically in introducing production units to drive world’s attention on us in RC Hobby as well, not just IT, Cricket, etc.,

Thala is known for doing things his own way. He had disbanded his fans’ association nearly a year ago. Interestingly, he had done this despite a huge fan following. The latest news is that Ajith is contemplating on starting an NGO.

Thala is known for his social service activities especially towards the differently-abled. It is said that he may begin an NGO that will serve for welfare of the differently-abled. However, there is no official word about this yet and we are expecting one soon.

Ajith is planning to start a non-governmental organization soon. When enquired about this sudden decision, sources say that several people are thronging the star’s residence seeking help. Since his fans’ association has been disbanded and there is no Narpani Mandram to carry out the good work, it has been decided to start an NGO.

Ganesh Venkatraman who is eagerly awaiting his next — Panithuli, met Ajith recently at Mumbai where the shooting of Billa 2 is going on in full swing. Says a thrilled Ganesh who spent almost five hours with Thala, "I happened to meet Ajith at Film City. We spoke about a lot of things. I respect Ajith a lot. He too had no film background and made it on his own by sheer hard work and talent. My case is similar too.

அப்போது இருந்த நிலவரப்படி பாலா-பூர்ணசந்திரராவ் கூட்டணியில் ‘நந்தா’ படத்துக்கு ஹீரோ என்று முதலில் முடிவு பண்ணப்பட்டவர் அஜீத்தான்.

ஜெயா ஃபிலிம் சிடி காட்டேஜில் ஏகப்பட்ட பாம்புகள், மனிதர்களை விட தைரியமாக நடமாடிக்கொண்டிருந்த பகுதியில், டிஸ்கசனுக்கு தயாரிப்பாளர் தரப்பில் ரூம் போட்டிருந்தார்கள்.

‘பாளையங்கோட்டை சிறையினிலே பாம்புகள் பாலாக்கள் நடுவினிலே நான் அமர்ந்திருக்க,’நந்தா’ கதையைக் கேட்க அஜீத் வந்தார்.
இவ்வளவு பெரிய ஹிட் குடுத்திருக்கோம். அதுக்கப்புறமும் கதை சொல்லனுமா? என்ற கேள்வி ஒருபுறமும், வச்சிக்கிட்டா வஞ்சனை பண்றாங்க’ என்கிற நிதர்சனம் ஒரு புறமுமாக அன்று அஜீத்துக்கு, சும்மா ஒரு பத்து வரிகளில்தான் பாலா கதையே சொன்னார்.

இந்த பத்து வரியைக்கேக்கத்தானா இவ்வளவு தூரம் வந்தேன் என்பது போல் அஜீத் பார்க்க, ’’வெயிட் பண்ணுங்க .ஒரு அஞ்சி நிமிஷத்துல, அடுத்து முழுக்கதையை எப்ப சொல்றேன்னு முத்துகிட்ட சொல்லி அனுப்புறேன்’ என்றார் பாலா.

அஜீத் ரூமுக்கு வெளியே காத்திருக்க,’’முழுக்கதையும் சொல்ல இன்னொரு பத்து நாளாவது ஆகும்னு சொல்லி அனுப்பிச்சிட்டு வாங்க’ என்று என்னை அனுப்பி வைத்தார் பாலா.



’எங்கே செல்லும் நந்தா’ கதை என்ற ரீ-ரெகார்டிங் மட்டும் பின்னணியில் ஒலிக்க, அடுத்த பத்து நாட்களும் டிஸ்கசன் என்ற பெயரில் ஒரு எழவும் நடக்கவில்லை.

ஆனால் கம்பெனியிலிருந்து கரெக்டாக நாள் குறித்து மறுபடியும் அஜீத்தை அனுப்பி வைத்துவிட்டார்கள். என்னிடம் சொல்லவில்லையென்றாலும்,நந்தா’ வுக்கு அஜீத் தோதுப்பட மாட்டார் என்று பாலா முடிவு செய்து வைத்திருப்பதை நான் முன்பே யூகித்துவிட்டேன்.

தயாரிப்பாளர் தரப்பைப்பொறுத்தவரை அந்த முடிவை தான் எடுத்ததாகக்காட்டிக் கொள்ளாமல், அஜீத்தே எடுத்ததாக இருக்கட்டும் என்ற எண்ணத்தில் பாலா வீரியமாக ஒரு காரியம் செய்தார்.

அஜீத் ஒரு நீண்ட கதை கேட்கபோகும் ஆவலில், காட்டேஜ் அறைக்குள் அமர, மேலும் பத்து நாட்கள் ’பட்டை’ தீட்டப்பட்ட ‘நந்தா’ கதையை பாலா சொல்ல ஆரம்பித்தார்.அது முதலில் சொன்ன பத்து வரியில் எட்டு வரி காணாமல் போய் வெறும் ரெண்டே வரியில் முடிந்து விட்டது.

பாலாவின் உள்குத்து’ புரியாமல் அஜீத் கொஞ்ச நேரம் முழித்தார். பிறகு சுதாரித்து, தர்மசங்கடமான ரியாக்ஷன் எதுவும் கொடுக்காமல் கிளம்பிப்போனார்.

அஜீத் இல்லை என்று ஆகிப்போன சில தினங்களிலேயே, தயாரிப்பாளர் பூர்ணசந்திரராவும் இல்லாமல் போய், அமெரிக்காவில் இருந்து தயாரிப்பாளர்களாக நான்கு புன்னகை மன்னன்கள் வந்தனர். அடுத்த நந்தாவாக பாரதிராஜாவின் பிள்ளை மனோஜ் முடிவு பண்ணப்பட்டு,அது கடைசியில் சூர்யாவாக மாறிய பெருங்கதை எல்லாம் பிறகு.

Problem is with us (fans) as well. We used to say thala missed a wonderful opportunity to work along with Sivaji and missed a good movie like Nandha, KK etc without even worrying about what could have gone wrong. We used to blame thala for everything. Thanks to his lack of ability to select good scripts. He selected NK when he was going through a rough patch with no hits. He would have seen further works of Bala and would have thought he can confidently go to him. But patta kaalila padumnu yaar kanda. மதியாதோர் தலைவாசல் மிதிக்காதே. Bitter lesson and we should learn from it.

Billa 2 release date!

Billa 2 directed by Chakri Toleti and starring Ajith will be releasing on May 25th. Yuvan Shankar Raja is almost done with the music so the audio launch will also be held soon.

Sreekar Prasad is doing the editing. Costumes are by Anu Vardhan, the wife of Vishnu Vardhan. It will be remembered that it was Anu who gave Nayan her makeover and was also responsible for the uber stylish costumes sported by all the characters in Billa which became quite the rage. Cinematography is by PS Vinod.

Suseenthiran sure comes as one who has his head firmly on his shoulders. Fresh from the success of Azhagarsamiyin Kudhirai, which won national acclaim, the director says that he is not awestruck by stars.

"I don't think of big names when I direct my films, and only go by who would suit the role best, even if the actor is not very popular. However, Ajith sir is one actor whose potential has not been used to the fullest, and I would like to work with him in future, as he is very talented," he says.

While most of his films have been on off-beat themes, the director feels that is the way that the story is told that makes it interesting.

"The audience doesn't always appreciate formula masala films, and gives importance to how well the story is told. The storyline must be able to engage the audience, and that is what I try to do through my films," he explains.

In the city to scout for locations for his next project, the director considers the city to be on a par with Chennai in terms of the audience, and the locations.

"Coimbatore may have dwindled in popularity as a shooting spot after the bomb blasts in 1998, but the fact remains that the dams and rivers are apt locations to shoot in, and major portions of my next film will be shot here," he signs off.

M Rajesh is a director who is an expertise in comedy films even if there is no logic in it. He has given hit films like Shiva Manasula Sakthi and Boss Engira Baskaran. Now he has directed a film titled Oru Kal Oru Kannadi which has Udhayanidhi Stalin in the lead role.

Udhayanidhi is for the first time debuting as a hero through this film. In this film there are no popular heroes in it. The film is to hit the screens on 13th April.
Rajesh who is waiting for the result of this film is also waiting for another matter. Rajesh was supposed to direct a film titled All In All Azhagu Raja which would be having Karthi in the lead role.

Now Rajesh has been telling his close friends that he has actually written the story for Ajith.

Ajith who had seen Boss Engira Baskaran had asked Rajesh whether it is possible for him to write an action oriented comedy film script for him.

When director Venkat Prabhu narrated a story to Ajith some time back, the star had reportedly told him that the script would suit Suriya better than him. It was on Ajith’s advice that Venkat Prabhu offered the role to Suriya.

Suriya is playing the lead role in the film that Venkat Prabhu is to direct after he completes Matraan. Studio Green’s Gnanavel Raja is producing this film. More details awaited on this project.

Prabhu Solomon to direct Ajith's ambitious movie?

Prabhu Solomon shares at least one common interest with Ajith. They both are lovers of sports. And sports movies, perhaps. While Ajith's recent Mankatha was on gambling (which is hardly a sport but it's the game cricket the gambling is based on) he is also known as a racing aficionado. Ajith has driven on many race tracks when was a racer.

Prabhu's nurtures a dream to direct a sports movie and he although he has the critically well received Lee to his credit, his best is yet to come in that genre. When he met Ajith the last time, the both seemed to have hit it off and discussed the possibility of working in a movie. Solomon readied a script and showed it to Ajith, who in turn was impressed with it. Ajith has promised to work on this project after his current ones are cleared. Now that both of them are busy with their respective projects, this will go on floors sometime later 2012, with an official announcement.

A feast from Parvathy?
Actor Ajith, known to make delicious biryani, has often impressed colleagues by whipping up a feast on the sets. The cast and crew of his next film, “Billa 2,” were recently treated to a feast by the actor after their Goa schedule and Parvathy Omanakuttan, who plays the female lead in the film, says she has learnt quite a few lessons, both in acting and life, from the star.

“I'm a big fan of Ajith sir. He is not only an amazing actor but a thorough gentleman as well. On the first day of the shoot, I was really nervous about acting with a leading star. However, when Ajith entered the set, he went to the director, listened to what he had to say and then came to me and asked how best we could deliver what the director wanted. We then had a rehearsal and shot the scene. After that scene, I realised he is a simple, down-to-earth person who treats everybody with respect. Despite being a star, he has never thrown his weight around or let success go to his head.”

To illustrate her point, Parvathy, who is also a good cook, says, “Ajith sir made amazing mutton biryani for the entire crew of ‘Billa 2.'” So, is cooking for the crew among the lessons she has learnt from the star?

Says Parvathy with a smile, “Why not? I don't mind cooking for the crew of my next film. I too can make good biryani.”

Mysskin has clarified that Mugamoodi (http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/Mugamoodi) was not created for Ajith (http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/Ajith) as stated by the media.

Agreeing that he had met Ajith before commencing the project, the director said that he had a different script altogether for Thala but it did not pan out for various reasons.

However, Mysskin revealed that Suriya and Vishal were in fray to play the lead role in Mugamoodi but eventually it was Jiiva who bagged it. The film's shooting is currently on and is expected to be wrapped up soon.

The director stated that the FEFSI strike had impeded Mugamoodi's progress but now it is fast progressing. Pooja Hegde plays the female lead in this film with Narain as the villain.

Filmmaker Gautham Menon and Ajith (http://entertainment.oneindia.in/tamil/news/2012/gautham-menon-ajith-kumar-200412.html#)seems to have buried the hatchet as we hear that the duo has sorted our their differences. With this development, the buzz is that they might team up for the first time.

If you are not aware of what happened between them in the past, let us tell you about their differences leading to rift. Well, Gautham Menon and Ajith Kumar were supposed to work in a suspense-thriller [I]Thuppariyum Anand, which never took off. The filmmaker later claimed that Thala after having a few rounds of talks regarding the proposed project, made him to wait for more than six months and did not return to him.

Ajith and Gautham are finally coming together. Gautham has booked Ajith for his own production, Photon Kathas. The movie is expected to start after Ajith finishes the upcoming movies to be directed by Vishnu and Siruthai Siva. So, Gautham will have to wait for Ajith for another year before starting the project sometime in second half of 2013. Ajith and Gautham have been trying to come together for more than 2 years now. Even titles such as Kaaval and Thuppariyum Anand made the rounds followed by bitter rumors and quotes reporting rift between Ajith and Gautham.

Gautham was on track to work together with Ajith on his 50th movie. It was reported that Ajith pulled back for unknown reasons. Gautham was quoted in one of the interviews "I was about to start the film when Ajith suddenly went abroad to race. And, when he returned, he started discussing his future projects with almost every director and finally decided to go ahead with Venkat's Mangaatha. He asked me to wait till next year. But, why should I wait for him?"

Second time, the gap widened when Gautham asked "Thalai Yaaru?" in a Q&A session when Gautham in response to a question on when he plans to come together with 'Thalai'. This led to a number of Ajith fans extremely upset with Gautham with hardcore fans just short of burning effigies.

Ajith has completely refurbished his office at Abiramapuram. This new office has sports and game facilities and the new state-of-the-art gym is the centre of attraction here. Sources also say that Ajith’s wife and former actress Shalini is practicing her favorite sport tennis here as a new tennis court has been laid out.

Ajith and Shalini have a passion for sports and adventure sports and this new office reflects that perfectly, say sources.

அஜீத் அவரோட சக போட்டியாளரோட இணைந்து நடிச்ச ஒரே படம் இதுதான். இந்த படத்துல ஒரு கெஸ்ட் ரோல்-ல நடிச்சுருப்பார். இதுக்காக அஜீத்துக்கு பேசப்பட்ட சம்பளம் மிக மிக குறைவு. ஒரு அலுவலக ஊழியரின் குறைந்தபட்ச சம்பளம் அளவிற்கு கூட கிடையாது. படத்தை நடித்து கொடுத்தான் கூட அஜீத்தின் சம்பளம் முழுமையாக தரப்படவில்லை. இதை வாங்குவதற்காக மத்திய உணவு நேரத்தில் ஒரு பைக்கில் தயாரிப்பாளர் அலுவலகத்திற்கு தினமும் வருவார். அப்போது அந்த தயாரிப்பாளர் இப்படி கூறுவாராம் " வந்துட்டான்யா...சாப்பாட்டு நேரத்துக்கு. அவனுக்கு சாப்பாட்ட போட்டு அனுப்பி விடுங்க. சம்பளம் அப்புறம் வந்து வாங்க சொல்லுங்க" என்று. இந்த அவமானங்களுக்கு பின்னராவது அஜீத்துக்கு சம்பளம் கிடைத்ததா என்றால் அது ???????????- தான்.

Earlier last week I downloaded Attagasam and I was watching it for quite some time. Mind delved into a mini nostalgic trip. This is one of the few films where Ajith decided to take a pay cut to release the film on Diwali Day 2004.

Pro'lly some of the recent Ajith fans may not remember those times but those years were pretty tough for Ajith(and for us fans) both professionally and personally(Medical issues). A year Prior if i am not wrong he went almost a full year to racing and delivered a damp squib in Anjaneya(Again 2003 Diwali). Lost 2 BIG Films to Surya. A couple of scenes were tailor-made to us fans. When Annachi screams "Evan le andha guru" twice it's goosebumps time. It was certainly well shot and the music is fantastic. It had a full-length feature song bashing you know who. Younger brother's role in the 2nd half was well done. And Ajith was known to give quite blunt interviews at that time which reflects in a dialog "Dei enna vida ivan overa pesaraan da".

The movie was not half bad and deserved a little bit more success than what it achieved. Pro'lly Simbu's MM was such a hit and this film paled in comparison to that success. But even then there were talks that MM still didn't make enough money to recover the investment. I for one liked this film more than his other rowdy releases Dheena and Amarkalam.

Saw attagaasam in Pazhaniaandavar. :) Yes, after disappointing Anjaneya, Attagaasam promised and delivered IMO :D Infact, Saran took the word "thala" to a different level. Got released on Diwali. I would say even today I haven't seen any Ajit film opening coming close to that (May be Varalaaru and Mankatha can come close). It is a genuine hit in B & C centers. Agree that Manmathan became a big hit but Attagaasam was leading in the first few weeks. Infact, lot of thala fans saw Manmadhan for thala related dialogues. Still remember how people in the hub responded during those days :lol2: comparing him to Mohan and praising chinna pasanga like Bharath. I had a copy of all those karuthus by karuthu kandasamis :lol2: Free time irukkum pothu accident ah sila post padicha namakkae :lol2: Konjam nanjama pesunanunga :lol:

Attagasam movie gave me the best feel of being a thala fan....goosebumps all over me... :) .....really enjoyed each and every bit of the opening song... :) loved the role played by thala as "guru".....

am really shocked to read that tamil article posted by feddy... :( .....to be frank, guess Thala lost more than he gained professionally but he gained and gained and gained the affection and respect from his innumerable fans....and what with more than 90% of the TFI with our Thala.... :)

Attagasam was a booster to the fans like us at that time. Like most of the Thala movies it face problems during its release.. but Ajith put his money from his pocket to release it on time and gave his fans THALA deepavali... Had a great time in watchin it on first day shows... i dont remember exactly.. it was 50th or 100th double hero tamil movie...

Couldnt forget the posters of mirattel splashed all over the city...each ppster kinda best ever colorfill...even now at that time was wonderimg what kimd of amazong film it would be..
Still i have that arm interview to kunguman saying like ajith will mirattalaana actionum kalakkalaana kadhalum..after watching gazini big time dissapppointment for me.
