IIRC Gowtham didn't have a script for Ajith's 'Sura' (some Dawood Ibrahim story) when the movie was about to be produced by Sivaji productions. So that movie was also dropped then.

I have read somewhere that a few directors like Gowtham and Bala have the habit of starting shoots without a concrete script. They tend to make scenes/dialogues up as they progress with the shooting. Though they have been successful with this style, it requires a lot of trust from the hero to start working on a project without a concrete script. I feel this is the reason as to why these directors prefer doing movies with their friends and other relatively unknown entities. Ajith may not have liked this style and walked out. So I am not able to attach too much blame on Ajith for this.

அப்புறம் ரஜினிக்கான கதையில் விஷ்ணுவர்தன் எப்படி கமிட் ஆனார்?

Some days back there is a buzz that ace director P Vasu is planning to do a sequel to super hit film ‘Chandramukhi’ with Ajith in the lead role.

On speaking about this director Vasu says, “It was Rajini sir who recommended Ajith for the role. He asked Ajith to play the protagonist in the sequel when the two met during the kumbabhishekam of a temple inside Sivaji Ganesan’s house.”

He further says, “Rajini immediately asked me to send a print of ‘Aptha Rakshaka’ (the Kananda version starring Vishnuvardhan) to Ajith. After watching the film, the actor was impressed”.

Sources say that currently Vasu is busy with his upcoming film ‘Puli Vesham’ starring RK and Sadha in the lead roles. He is waiting for the final confirmation of Ajith. He adds “Ajith is at present busy with ‘Mankatha’ and one more project. Once he gives his nod, I will immediately start Chandramukhi-2″.

recent Vaasu movies are all disasters except chandramuki...in which Rajini presence carried the movie ........

I dont think he can handle well... especially for Ajith style....
Better not to take the litmus test and stay safe by acting in some niche directors........

News about Ajith being approached by director P Vasu for the sequel of Chandramukhi has many film personalities and movie buffs surprised. Sources from Kollywood report that several biggies in the tinsel town called and congratulated Ajith on being considered for the role, more so because its Kannada version turned out to be a mega hit.

Looks like Ajith will be turning into a producer himself. Gautham and Murugadoss have earlier declared their production ventures. Ajith’s production company will be called Goodwill entertainment.

When asked about his venture, Ajith answered in the affirmative. Will he produce his own movies in the future? Not necessarily, he says, adding that his production ventures can also have his friends as stars. Upon prodding whether he would cast Vijay in his movies, Ajith said he would definitely consider that. The actor is right now listening to scripts.

Breaking News- Billa 2 confirmed

It is official, there will be a part two to Ajith's Vishnuvardhan directed Billa !

And the big news is that Billa 2 will be produced by Suresh Balaje, son of the legendary producer and actor K Balaje who produced the original Billa with Rajinikanth.

In an exclusive interview to sify.com Suresh Balaje said: "It was my late father K Balaje's dream to make a part two to our biggest hit Rajinikanth's Billa. We have signed up Ajith to do Billa 2, along with the rest of the team who did the Billa remake consisting of director Vishnuvardhan, cinematographer Nirav Shah, editor Sreekar Prasad and music director Yuvan Shankar Raja. The film is being produced by me and George Pious under the Wide Angle Creations banner and it will be presented by Mumbai based Sunir Khetrapal, CEO of IN Entertainment."

Suresh Balaje also made it clear that Billa 2 will be a prequel and is looking forward to working with Ajith, with whom he had earlier done Kireedam.

He signs off saying: "Vishnu is giving finishing touches to Billa 2 script. Vishnu and Ajith feel we should delve into the making of what made Billa such a big mobster. So it will be a prequel and not a sequel. We will start shooting once Ajith completes Mankatha by March 2011. It is a pleasure to do a film with Ajith, as he has class, elan , style and is a huge draw at the box-office."

அரசியல் விஷயத்தில் கிட்டத்தட்ட இறுதியான முடிவுக்கு வந்துவிட்டார் அஜீத் என்றே தோன்றுகிறது.

கடந்த சில மாதங்களாகவே தனது அரசியல் பிரவேசம் குறித்து பகிரங்கமாக பேசி வருகிறார். குறிப்பாக அதிமுக பொதுச் செயலாளர் ஜெயலலிதாவைச் சந்தித்துப் பேசிய பிறகு, அரசியலில் குதிக்கும் முடிவில் அவர் உறுதியாக உள்ளார் என்கிறார்கள்.

இந்த நிலையில் சமீபத்தில் ஒரு பத்திரிகைக்கு அளித்த பேட்டியில், தான் புதிய கட்சி தொடங்கப் போவதில்லை என்றும், ஏதாவது ஒரு கட்சியில் சேர்ந்து சாதாரண தொண்டனாக பணியாற்றப் போவதாகவும், தனது செயல்திறன் பார்த்து பதவி கொடுத்தால் போதும் என்றும் கூறியிருந்தார்.

அந்தப் பேட்டியில் அவர் மேலும் கூறியிருப்பதாவது:

"எனக்கு இன்று அரசியல் ஆசை இல்லா விட்டாலும், ந*ாளைக்கே சந்தர்ப்ப சூழ்நிலைகள் என்னை அரசியலுக்குள் கட்டாயமாக இழுத்து விட்டால், அரசியலையும், சினிமாவையும் ஒன்றோடு ஒன்று கலக்க மாட்டேன். சினிமாவில் நடிக்கவே மாட்டேன்.

காரணம், சினிமாவில் நடித்துக் கொண்டே கார் ரேஸிங்கில் கலந்து கொண்டதால் என்னால் அந்த இரண்டு துறைகளிலும் முழுக் கவனம் செலுத்த முடியவில்லை. இது என் சொந்த வாழ்க்கையில் நான் கற்றுக் கொண்ட பாடம். நீங்கள் சொல்கிற சூழ்நிலை வந்தால்... எனக்குப் பிடித்த கட்சியில் சேருவேன். என்னுடைய நற்பணி இயக்கங்களில் எல்லா கட்சியை சேர்ந்த ரசிகர்களும் இருக்கிறார்கள். அவர்களுக்குள் நான் ஒருபோதும் பிரிவினை ஏற்படுமாறு செயல்பட மாட்டேன். அவர்கள் விருப்பம் இருந்தால் மட்டுமே என்னோடு வரலாம்.

அடுத்தது நான் அரசியலுக்கு வந்தே ஆக வேண்டுமென்றால், நான் சேர்கிற கட்சியில் எனக்கென ஏதாவது ஒரு முக்கிய பதவியை கொடுக்க முன்வந்தால், அதை ஏற்றுக் கொள்ள மாட்*டேன். எனக்கு முன்பே அந்த கட்சிக்காக இருபது வருடங்கள் உழைத்தவர்கள் மனதைப் புண்படுத்துகிற மாதிரியான முன்னுரிமை எனக்கு அளிக்கப்படுவதில் எனக்கு விருப்பமில்லை. எனக்கு ஏதாவது ஒரு பணி கொடுத்து, அதை நான் எப்படி செய்து முடித்து காட்டுகிறேன் என்பதைப் பொறுத்தே பதவியோ, உயர்வோ எனக்கு அளிக்கப்பட வேண்டுமென விரும்புகிறேன்", என்று கூறியுள்ளார்.

Here is some more on the hottest event of this week. We first said Thalapathi met Thala on the sets of ‘Mankatha’ and we also gave the image of the two stars together.

Ajith and Vijay were both shooting for their films ‘Mankatha’ and ‘Velayudham’ respectively at the Binny Mills complex in Chennai. After knowing Ajith is also there in the same complex Vijay went and met his good friend for a chat.

The unassuming souls spend some time talking about various things personal and professional. Vijay presented Ajith with a stunning watch and Ajith himself cooked and served his special biriyani to Vijay with love. Vijay’s family was also there for the treat.

They put all rumours to rest and have proved friends are always friends. The shooting of ‘Mankatha’ is progressing faster than expected and more than 40 percent of the movie is complete. To be precise 3 songs 1 fight sequence and 40% of talkie portion is complete.[/tscii:00feef75c5]

This is certainly not a good news for Bollywood as it is set to lose one of its biggest potential investors, their proposed investment plans ran up to nearly 400 cores. Though the news has not been confirmed by an Adlabs spokesperson it does have an element of credibility because Adlabs has been facing huge losses over the last few months with a few films. With the total losses in the second half of 2007 till now crossing the 50 crore mark, and with another 50 crore being already invested in projects in the making any company would take a break if not completely break away from production.

The 50 crore loss story began with J.P.Dutta’s magnum opus Umrao Jaan which incurred a 10 crore loss (the way the movie performed at the box office it looked far worse). Then came Anubhav Sinha’s Cash that lost another 10 crore at the box office. Salman Khan’s ‘disaster of his career’ Marigold added another 25 crores to the loss column in the Adlabs balance sheet and (maybe nail in the coffin) finally along came Ramgopal Varma with his Aag and burnt a hole in Adlabs’ bank account with another 30 crore loss.

Surprising indeed, in a season that has seen many big hits in Bollywood (Partner, Chak De India, Hey Baby etc.) Adlabs continuously managed to hit the biggest duds of the year consistently. Adlabs did have a good beginning to the year with Guru and in Kollywood with Ajith’s Kreedom. But all that couldn’t cover up for the 50 crore thrashing that they have taken.

There have been sources that have denied the news about Adlabs quitting. One hopes it is true because this is one place where the big money for big projects can come from.[/tscii:3b6a92e6e8]
