எலக்டரானிக் அண்ட் இன்ஸ்ட்ருமெண்டேசன் என்ஜினியரிங் படித்து விட்டு சிங்கப்பூர், லண்டன், துபாய் என வெளிநாடுகளில் வேலை பார்த்துக்கொண்டிருந்தவரை, சின்ன வயதிலேயே உள்ளுக்குள்ளே ஊறி விட்ட சினிமா கனவு சென்னைக்கு கூட்டி வந்தது.

வேலை பார்த்து சம்பாதித்துக்கொண்டு வந்த சில லட்சங்களை சென்னை வாழ்க்கையோடு சில குறும்படங்கள் எடுத்து கரைத்து விட்டு பல போராட்டங்களுக்கு பிறகு இப்போது சுந்தரபாண்டியன் என் வாழ்க்கையை ஆரம்பித்து வைத்திருக்கிறது என சந்தோசத்தோடு சொல்கிறார் சவுந்தரராஜா.

சுந்தரபாண்டியன் வாய்ப்பு எப்படி கிடைத்தது...

எனக்கு சசிக்குமார் சாரை ரொம்பப் பிடிக்கும். அவருக்கும் எனக்கும் ஏதோ ஒரு பந்தம் இருப்பதாய் என் உள்ளுணர்வு சொல்லும். பல கம்பெனிகளுக்கு நடிக்க சான்ஸ் கேட்டு அலைந்தேன். சுந்தரபாண்டியன் படம் பற்றி கேள்விப்பட்டு கம்பெனி புரொடக்சன்ஸ் ஆபிஸ் போனேன். இயக்குனர் பிரபாகரன் சாரைப் பார்த்து வாய்ப்பு கேட்டேன். அவர் என்னைப் பார்த்து விட்டு சரியா வராது. இது மதுரை உசிலம்பட்டில நடக்கிற கதை. நீங்க இங்கிலீஸ்ல பேசுறீங்க... உங்களுக்கு அந்த ஸ்லாங் வருமான்னு தெரியல என்று திருப்பி அனுப்பி வைத்து விட்டார்.

ஆனால் நான் விடவில்லை. இதில் ஆச்சர்யம் என்னன்னா எனக்கு சொந்த ஊரே உசிலம்பட்டி தான். உடனே நான் ஊருக்குப் போய் நானே இயக்கி நானே நடிச்சி உசிலம்பட்டி ஸ்லாங் பேசி ஒரு குறும்படம் எடுத்தேன். அதைக் கொண்டு போய் பிரபாகரன் சார்கிட்ட கொடுத்தேன். அதைப் பார்த்ததும் அவருக்கு பிடிச்சிப்போச்சி. நீ படத்துல இருக்கடான்னு சொன்னார்.

அப்புறமா தயாரிப்பாளர் சசிக்குமார் சாரும் அசோக்குமார் சாரும் பார்த்துட்டு அவங்களும் ஓ.கே.ன்னு சொன்னாங்க... என்னுடைய உள்ளுணர்வு சரி தான்னு இப்ப தோணுது.

முதல் பாராட்டு....

படம் ரெடியானதும் என்னை முதல்ல பாராட்டுனது சசிக்குமார் சார் தான்.
அடுத்தடுத்து நம்ம சேர்ந்து பண்ணலாம்னு சொன்னார். அவர் நடிக்கிற குட்டிப்புலி படத்துலயும் சசிக்குமார் நண்பனா நடிக்கிறேன்.

அடுத்தடுத்த ஆசைகள்...

சினிமாவுல தான் கடைசி வரைக்கும் என் வாழ்க். நல்ல நடிகனா இருக்கணும், நல்ல நடிகன்னு பேர் வாங்கணும். என்னைப் பொறுத்தவரைக்கும் நான் நடிகன். நிர்வாணமா என்னை நடிக்கச் சொன்னாக் கூட நான் நடிப்பேன். எனக்கு கமல்சாரையும் அஜித் சாரையும் ரொம்ப பிடிக்கும். நான் நடிக்க வந்ததுக்கு அவங்க ரெண்டு பேரும் தான் முக்கிய காரணம். நான் நடிக்கிற படத்தை பார்த்துட்டு அவங்க ரெண்டு பேரும் கூப்பிட்டு, சவுந்தர் ரொம்ப நல்லா நடிச்சிருக்கேன்னு சொல்லணும் அதான் என் ஆசை.

குறிப்பு: வெளிநாடுகளில் வேலை செய்து சம்பாதித்த பணத்தில், மும்பையில் புரொடக்சன் டிசைன் படித்து சென்னை வந்து Madurai Touring Talkies என்ற நிறுவனத்தை துவங்கி, Stone Bench என்ற இன்னொரு நிறுவனத்துடன் இணைந்து துரு, ராவனம், பெட்டி கேஸ், விண்ட் போன்ற குறும்படங்களை தயாரித்திருக்கிறார் சவுந்தரராஜா.

Ajith's cameo opens up big

The 3 minute long cameo that Ajith is playing in the Tamil version of English Vinglish has set the expectations pretty high for this movie. The film is opening in many screens all over Tamil Nadu and the advance bookings have also opened for the same.

Many notable screens in Chennai like Devi Paradise, Swarna Sakthi Abirami, Woodlands Symphony, AGS Cinemas, Chandran, Mayajaal and Aradhana are screening the Tamil version of this Sridevi starrer.

English Vinglish releasing big in Tamil

Mediaone Global Entertainment is going all out to release Sridevi's comeback film English Vinglish in Hindi and Tamil this Friday (Oct 5) in a very big way in Tamil Nadu.

Thanks to Thala Ajith's special appearance in the film, it is expected to reach across Tamil Nadu. The film is releasing in 150 plus screens in the state, which is huge for any film.

The reports coming in from Mumbai after the press screening of English Vinglish is very encouraging. The press has showered praises about the film, especially about Sridevi's performance. Noted television critic Rajiv Masand tweeted - "English Vinglish is so charming...formulaic but feel good. Has a big beating heart at its centre, and that's Sridevi, who's just terrific."

Movie is good. Nice to see SD in big screen again. Ajith's 2 min cameo comes around 30th min and nice to see him too in big screen :p. I was expecting a low turnout at AGS villivakkam and pleasantly surprised to see 70-80% occupancy.

he is actor saravanan from star vijay serial "saravanan meenatchi". nice actor in comic roles. guess he has acted in some of the movies with village subject. actually his name is surya (this he told in surya's NVOK program) but after the popularity of the serial "saravanan meenatchi" people call him saravanan. :) I guess he is from Tirunelveli but am not too sure on this. :)

Ajith has always tried to be a dare devil in film shooting and been successful in doing so. Unfortunately, a recent stunt has caused him an injury, we hear. While shooting for a stunt sequence in the untitled project of director Vishnuvardhan, Ajith tried to jump from one car to another and while doing so he slipped.

He got his right leg jammed and suffered a ligament injury and a few bruises. However, the gutsy man continued with the shoot, we hear.

The film is in the final stage of production and will soon wrap up. The team might also surprise the fans by revealing an interesting detail about the film on Diwali.

As we had reported earlier, Ajith suffered an injury in his right leg while filming a car stunt sequence for his upcoming Vishnuvardhan movie. His fans are naturally concerned and the social media space is filled with ‘get well soon’ messages for the star, since morning.

After completing a film only Ajith will moves on to the next. But, there was a dramatic changes happening those days. Before the Billa 2 shooting got over, Ajith signed up for Vishnuvardhan’s untitled project under A M Rathnam’s production. The fans of Ajith were really stunned because of his energetic actions.

Now things are being proceeded with even more faster pace. Ajith is now busy with Vishnuvardhan’s untitiled project and at the same time he signed Siruthai fame Siva’s untitled project for Vijaya Productions.

Next schedule of Ajith – Vishnuvardhan project gonna take place in Chennai from November 28th, 2012. After 10 days shooting schedule, he starts the Siva project in Hyderabad from December 10th, 2012.

The story plot is said to be happening aroung Southern parts of Tamil Nadu. The dialogues of the film is to be penned by famous writer Jeya Mohan. Hope he will recreate the magic like in his previous movies. We can expect simple yet powerful dialogues from the film for Ajith. Previously he worked as dialogue writer in films like Naan Kadavul and Angadi Theru. At present he is working for Manirathnam’s Kadal.

A SIMPLE FAVOR FROM THALA …

The show business is one where looks matter the most and film stars always go the extra mile to make sure that they look as alluring and glamorous as ever. This applies to both the genders and they don’t hesitate to even go under the knife to give that extra edge to their looks. At the end of the day, people pay money to see good looking stars on screen and stars realize that all too well.

As a result, even as they enter the 40s and 50s, stars make sure that their on-screen persona doesn’t show their actual age. Layers of makeup, dyes, wigs, surgeries, chemicals etc. give them what they desire. Younger stars aren’t lagging either as they know that their shelf life in the industry is small and they put in lot of effort and money to get that perfect look. Female stars in particular are under immense pressure to flaunt the perfect ‘hour glass’ structure as Indian film viewers rarely accept a de-glam heroine

Some stars take their on-screen looks to their real lives too and come dressed impeccably and with full makeup even for events and functions. Some others keep their career and personal life aside and come unassumingly without makeup for social events.

But there is the rarest of rare film star who actually comes unassumingly on screen too. God has gifted him / her with such looks and charm that he / she can carry off even a de-glam look sans any makeup. I am talking about one such star who is actually part of the Tamil film industry. He is the Thala to millions of fans around the world and since his 50th film Mankatha, he has decided that he will accept his ageing rather gracefully. Yes, Ajith Kumar, it is.

He rocked his natural ‘salt and pepper’ look in Mankatha and his looks actually floored even young girls as his charm was such. He proved that he is an undisputed star even with all the grey hair on him. In his latest Billa 2, Ajith had to look young as the movie was a prequel and he had to dye his hair.
At the age of 41, he isn’t exactly old but he still feels that it would be apt if he plays his age. So, will the salt and pepper grey hair continue in future too? We aren’t yet aware of his role in his next Vishnuvardhan film but, we can obviously see a greater share of grey and white in his hair compared to his Mankatha days. And in future, the coverage of grey and white is only going to increase as even Thala can’t beat time.

With happening young girls like Tamannah set to be paired with Ajith in his future projects, I would love to see Ajith back to his dark hair days. His face has the same charm, his hair is voluminous, his smile is still sparkling and his manly edge is still enviable. There is so much incentive for him to mask his grey / white hair despite looking good in this avatar too.

When stars much older to him take every effort to carefully dye their hair and mask their signs of ageing, Ajith also has reason to follow suit as commercial cinema is a medium where the hero is expected to look young. Ajith himself will agree that a big mass hero like him can’t keep playing characters which feature him in his 40s like how Mankatha did. The unwritten rules of commercial cinema also result in younger and younger girls coming into cinema and being paired opposite big mass heroes and as a result the lead men also have a big obligation to look young.

Ajith has generally been faulted for carrying some extra pounds which are a direct result of the numerous surgeries due to his racing misadventures. He himself has said that he feels bad when people talk disrespectfully about his weight issues. Still, the effort that he has put to pump iron and obtain the muscular and toned look for the Vishnuvardhan movie is truly applause worthy. This just shows that ‘impossible’ is just a word for Ajith and the effort that he invests in doing his action scenes without any double, is again humbling.

Now, all that remains is for him to get rid of the grey and white, a simple favor indeed. Thala, you are still just 41. It is actually the prime age for a mass hero like you to soar. When we see you with the gorgeous Tamannah in the upcoming commercial entertainer to be directed by Siva, we are sure it will be a splendid pair if you are back to your dashing ‘dark hair’ ways. And with the newfound muscular arms and toned body to add to your smashing face, we are sure you will be a killer.

This is just a humble request from an ardent cinema viewer who has been admiring you for over a decade.

But now he is man who is constantly learning and adopting himself beautifully by weighing the long term impact of his statement. When was the last time we read a statement from Thala that had so much truth and intensity but with diplomatic spices added on every word. WoW..... I welcome this THALA........... Proud to be his fan.

Think about this Leo. He was taken for granted by the then CM Kalaignar who avenged him for a statement that was not at all directed at him. The experience had given us a refined Thala who challenges the very same forces with a super refined strategy. No one can read between his lines now. No one can blame him as well.

And HE still maintains the SAME INTENSITY.. He hasn't changed. But he had just tweaked himself well enough to counter anyone :clap:

Loved listening to his answers....Confident interview for a 20 year old with just 2 movies.....
It looks like he hasn't changed at all..........Clarity of thought and straightforwardness....all of these look inherent for Ajith.
He talks about working in Garment factory (a little strange that both Ajith and Surya had a similar beginning) and a failed business venture before movies and what did he start a business when he was less than 20 years old? Add to that his passion for biking and a break of 1 and 1/2 years after his first movie.......All of this for a 20-year old??? Incredible
Ajith is one gutsy character and lots to learn from this epitome of self-confidence.

Charity first – Ajith’s Birthday Special Interview – The Hindu

53 films in 23 years is no mean achievement. As Ajith Kumar turns 42 this week, he looks back-and-forth at his career.

As the first of May draws near, the ‘Ultimate Star’ Ajith Kumar is in a reminiscing mood. He has just returned from a hectic first schedule for director Siva’s untitled film for Vijaya Productions and is preparing to wind up director Vishnuvardhan’s film for A.M. Rathnam. Fifty-three films in 23 years for the forty-two- year-old Ajith Kumar is quite an achievement and he dwells on the past even as he charts a definite course for the future. “On my birthday (May 1), apart from spending some quality time with my family, I will remember the wonderful journey I have had so far. God has been good to me and I hope I can do as much good to others through my films and my activities,” says Ajith.

Unstinting effort

For every film that he has done so far, Ajith Kumar has been known to put in his 110 per cent, sometimes involving himself in other areas of production or direction, if only to ensure that the final product is the best. “We owe it to the viewers, especially our well-wishers. When they spend their hard-earned money to come and watch the final product, we have to make sure that our creative inputs are done with earnestness. I am doing so for A.M. Rathnam’s film too. It is not that I am partial towards this film. Rathnam and Vishnuvardhan are professionals and when they are putting in so much effort it is but natural that I should give them my best in every possible way,” says Ajith.

Excellent rapport

His association with Vishnuvardhan goes back to almost 14 years and over this period he has developed a strong bond with him. “I first met Vishnuvardhan when he was assisting Santhosh Sivan in Asoka, the Hindi film I did with Shah Rukh Khan. Billa I was done by Vishnuvardhan while the prequel, Billa II was by Chakri. Vishnu, Chakri and I share a unique rapport and my relationship with Vishnu further strengthened during the making of the present film. I am confident the positive vibes will get translated into a good film.”

Favourite moment

Besides acting, Ajith is known to be a keen motor sports enthusiast, photographer and aero modeller. So, what is his most favourite moment? “This may come as a surprise to film goers. I treasure my stints in motor sports. I may not have achieved great things in the sport, but I have won some races and have managed to take the sport to the masses.”

Charity first

Ever since his fan clubs were disbanded, Ajith has been advising his fans and well-wishers to channelise their energy and funds towards educating underprivileged children. Says Ajith, “My heart bleeds when I see people spending lakhs of rupees on posters and banners during birthdays and other anniversaries.”

It is an ode to Shalini and Ajith for April 24th and the way they have succeeded in cherishing and strengthening their bond, despite their celebrity status!

Amarkalam was directed by Saran. Released in 1999 this song created a stir for its ingenious concept and melodious tune. I know it also holds a special place in Ajith’s heart for having found the love of his life!

I’d have loved to have a personal quote from Ajith, but my efforts to get in touch with him were in vain. I can understand, he must be busy with shoots 24x7. The thought is what counts…and Ajith, this one is for you from the Haricharans! I am sure the rest of the world will join in with us to wish you a birthday that gives you the elixir of life!
