By the way, does anyone here know the story behind why SPB was chosen to sing all songs from Maine Pyar Kiya? The success of that movie opened the Hindi industry for SPB, unfortunately most of his popular Hindi songs were for Salman Khan only (To compensate for SK's acting?! :))

Before MPK, Bala played back mostly for Kamal (EDKL, Saagar). I guess his voice was identified with southern actors?! MPK was the real break for SPB into the HFM.

My theory: SPB was chosen to sing play back for SK because his Hindi pronunciation had a slight accent (like Saroja Devi's Tamil) which was perceived as "boyish" by North listeners. This worked for SK's character in MPK and HAHK. That's why I asked the story behind "SPB for MPK"

I was watching the Hindi movie "Agneepath" yesterday, there was song by SPB for yesteryear "thespian" actor Mithun Chakaraborti”, in this Film he is Portrayed as a South Indian Keralite, (though he mainly speaks Tamil in the movie )! When ever a South Indian aspect comes into a bollywood Film, it is SPB who does the singing like (ek duche kiliye, saagar, Agneepath, ..etc etc ) why is this so ??? Does SPB has South Indian Style of "Hindi" accent ??

ARR has fully utilised SPB in all his albums , here are some of my Fav ARR + SPB combo!

1) Anjali Anjali pushapanjali - With awesome stuff from the Trumpet, Piano... while on the singing part SPB excels ! While on the other hand KSC struggles at high octaves (feel bad saying this :oops: )

2) Kuzhicha kutralam - Super fun packed highly energetic song!

3) Oru van oru van muthalili - Typical Rajni Mass puller of a song! SPB's sings to Match RK's style ! Only SPB possible for RK's style!

4) Rasiga Rasiga - From Prashanth movie "Star" , I think this album was a remake of some Hindi movie!

It was at the time when T-series was ruling the roost..churned out one hits after other...Gulshan Kumar was considered to have Midas touch [ with Music ] ...he was looked upon like a messiah and he did behave like one !!..All this adulation, sense of power just instilled in him a greater power in his own abilities and he decided to launch a wooden pole [ his brother] into film, Predictably the movie was a dud but not so the songs ..The Midas touch w.r.t. Songs continued
