initially, MGR refused to shoot this, stating he is too old to dance for this song and that too against vijayalakshmi.For 15 days he was totally in communicado-but later asked the director to re commence the shooting . To everyones surprise , he out performed vijayalakshmi in this song. he practiced for 15 days for this song , and gave his best at the age of 60, see the commitment :clap:

Vinod, I don't think he choreographed Agni Natchathiram song...he only danced in it. If I'm not mistaken, Sundram was the choreographer for the song. So wiki was right in Vetri Vizha being PD's first song as a choreographer.

I remember watching a similar interview too...I think it was during his 21st birthday celebration. Somewhere between Chikku Bukku and Kadhalan days.

PD said that Rajini found the former's dance step too hard and Rajini used to look helplessly at Sundram. But PD was very adamant about the steps and the end results was what we saw in Rakkama Kaiye Thathu. :D

இதே பாடலைத்தான் கமல் திரியில் சொல்லியிருந்தேன். ஐந்தாறு இடங்களில் சொல்வது போல், கமலின் நடனம் ரொம்ப சிறப்பா இருக்கும். கமலின் நடனம் என்றாலே சட்டென நினைவில் வருகிற பாடல்களில் இதுவும் ஒன்று.

IR-MR didn't have a prachanai i think. The trouble was between IR and KB

I don't see the connection for a trouble between IR & KB due to Thalapathy. There were reports that, GV didn't treat IR family well in the preview of Thalapathy, hence the rift between IR & GV (eventually MR).

Trouble between IR & KB started way before in the success meet of Puthu Puthu Arthangal, when every Tom Dick & Harry praised IR & singled him (songs) for the success, rubbing the ego of KB. The very next film of KB was Oru Veedu Iru Vaasal without any songs. Wanted to prove that he can succeed w/o songs which eventually failed (I loved the movie though).

There is another song in the same movie (HonestRaaj can confirm) called 'Pottathellam Vetri...' or something... I believe PD choreographed it. VK would have tried his best to give a decenet dance performance, with red whiskey swollen eyes and sweat pouring all over the face.
