Yes. The name is Rajendran. I was actually looking forward to seeing him in other films post NK.
Btw, interesting, very very yuvan-like music in the trailer.

Kan Thakkudhe is superb  First time when i listened, 'prelude' kEtta udanE mudivu pannitten that it will be catchy. :cool2:
Paithiyam pudikkudhu is the best song  What a melody. Had Yuvan stuck to original voice of Karthik, this song would have been remembered for a long time... Such a lovely melody it is... Wow... Yuvan has used 'auto tune' for full song. The 'feel' is completely missing coz of this  Simply love the tune 'kElvi thaaLOdu un munnE nAn nirkka, kadhal thEvum alla'... Wow... Karthik's feel would have been amazing in this particular line... Sadly i'm missing it :(
En nenjil, sung by Sadhana. Just an Ok number. The tune is not Yuvan'ish... :? that violin interlude is cool! :) nalla irukku! Liking En nenjil better now. But longevity is a problem here, i think. Let's see.
Kuppathu Rajakkal reminds me of Goa theme track  And the other Item number 'ullara poondhu' isn't good!
Overall, an OK album. But definitely expected something better from Yuvan!

Oh prasanna is there and NK Thandavan, a naturally 8 pack man also :)
BTW listened songs two times
As of now my pick is En Nenjil sung by SS. En nenjil song is surprisingly sounds agmark Karthik Raja style especially the flute comes just before the saranams and the entire song . The song is very neat.
Thakkuthey Kan Thakkuthey by Yuvan, no it is not En Kadhal solla which is plain and straight. Pallavi is good.
Paithiyam pudikkuthey - i am confusing about this song what to say . Finally I can say 'bad in parts' (and vice-versa ). The parts do not mean the any duration, here.
Kuppathu Raajakkal is my second pick of this album. I simply like the "thagu thagu jigu ... hey machi vaa machi" which is just 'Yuvan thullal', unplugging :)
Ullara Poonthu song is so so and sounds like a TVP album song with slightly better saranams.

That's exactly my thought on En Nenjil. That isn't Yuvan'ish. But I thought it was Vidyasagar styled melody.

1st May 2010, 09:45 PM
My picks are
Paithiyam ( YSR partially ruined this song by adding voice effect, sounds too much like a teenager.
Thaakkuthe (despite the simple rhythm and music its catchy a la YSR style.
The other three songs are below average.

Baana Kaathadi is a quite decent album with at least two great songs and two good/ok ones.
Thakkuthe and Paithiyam pidikkuthe are simply fantastic. En nenjil is a quite good melody, though not perfect. I'm liking it as of now, second interlude is  Next comes Kuppathu rajakkal, background music and that 'hey machi vaa machi' are the highlights, tune is not that well, but. And finally ullara poondhu...well, again orchestration and interludes superb, but it's not quite appealing. :?
Overall two songs standing out, with another two making for a good listen (at the moment). :cool2:

From Milliblog:
Thaakkudhey & Paithiyam pudikkudhu – Baana (Tamil – Yuvan Shankar Raja)
Yuvan has this predictable way of sucking you in his honey-coated melodies – they all sound the same after 10 listens, but never, ever cease to surprise you by how addictive they can get. Paiya’s ‘Thuli thuli’ was an example and so was ‘En kaadhal solla’. Thaakkudhey is in a similar vein, only a bit faster than usual….and ‘thakkudhu’ it does! Paithiyam pudikkudhu has Karthik sounding quite strange, but as a tune, along with it’s haunting arrangements, this is yet another Yuvan victory.

Kadhal solla vandhen (titled 'Naan avalai sandhitha pozhudhu' earlier) directed by Bhoopathy Pandiyan starring Balaji, an actor in kana kaanum kaalangal serial.
Music is by Yuvan. Songs are expected to be out in few days.
Hero has leaked all songs on his facebook. :hammer: wondering how the hero himself is doing such a thing.
I'm yet to get the songs.
Album Has 5 tracks in total. Four melody and peppy numbers. One village song "kadhal sami varugudhu" with predominant udukkai beats. Ir liked this track very much and appreciated Yuvan ;)

"Kadhal Solla Vandhen" Music review by Malathy Sundaram's, Behindwoods: (3/5)
Verdict:
The album follows its own languorous pace. Sometimes the rhythms come on too strongly. Nothing that sparkles, but makes for pleasant listening. Though a couple of songs give you a ‘heard-before’ feeling, Yuvan , with his habitual neat instrumental touches (be it the violin, sarangi, flute-whatever), adds newness to them. Once Yuvan completes his work, the music launch date of NMA will be announced, sources say. In all probability, the film will hit the screens sometime in July, if things move on the right pace, we are told.[tscii:bfafd4555f][/tscii:bfafd4555f]

:( I always look forward to yuvan's album when he works with successful commercial directors(hit makers)...i thought this album will be another paiya but
Im not sure we should blame Raja or yuvan..IMO, yuvan is signing too many films and that could be the reason for his inconsistency...Baana/KSV/AK/Boss ellam are definite flop movies-nu oru feeling, wonder why he agreed to do those films...Thillangandi-le focus panniruntha, would have been another paiyya for him..

Agree with Vinod. Seems yuvan lost his interest in the middle of this project. Reusing Thaman's song could be a reason i feel :?
This is certainly not the output i expected from yuvan.
Will listen to the songs few more times and get back with detailed review (if it evokes some interest).
A state of confusion, disinterest is clearly seen in the overall album.

Sol pechu is good with fabulous vocals by Chitra and Shreya.
Kids' chorus help Ding ding.
Other tracks are forgettable, including Thaman's Poota pathadhum and Idhayam karaigiradhe. Latter is slightly better.

Spelling the most fantabulous tunes with Paiyaa, Yuvan Shankar Raja is all set for his next musical bonanza with Naan Mahan Alla. The film is directed by Susindran of Vennila Kabadi Kulu fame and is produced by K.E. Gnyanavel Raja of Studio Green Productions. Karthi, whose performance in Paruthiveeran, Aayirathil Oruvan and Paiyaa has received immense appreciation, is in the lead role.
South India’s sensational beauty Kajal Aggarwal, who made her debut in Kollywood with Bharathiraja’s Bommalattam is starring opposite Karthi in the film. Jaya Prakash of Pasanga, Nadodigal fame enacts the role of Karthi’s father in this crime-thriller.
In the recent times, Yuvan Shankar Raja is often twitting about his musical experience with Naan Mahan Alla as he adds that the songs have come out very well and ‘Iragai Pole’ is expected to be the cherry-pick in this album.
The musical release of Naan Mahan Alla has been scheduled on July 16 at Sathyam Cinemas with who’s who of Kollywood gracing over the occasion.[tscii:f5d18dd6e7][/tscii:f5d18dd6e7]

Experimental Yuvan is back :) in two songs, Iragai Pole which rocks and Oru Maalai Neeram which reminds me 'Ee Nenje' song at places. Like Ilayaraja experimented in "Poo Maalaiye", Yuvan tried something in oru maalai neram's saranam which is brilliant. Awesome Iragai Pole is my pick. Both songs' tune are not regular in TFM  The lude starts in 3:25 min of Iragai pole is excellent.

Four Yuvan songs in the Top 10 Songs: Behindwoods:
Their top ten songs...
1.Ding Ding
Have you heard any young man begging his ladylove to play ‘hard-to-get’? Then listen to this amusing number. Good rhythms add to the fun.
2.Enna Enna Aagiraen
Though Vijay’s voice sounds rather subdued here, he still brings his own polished touch to this number, conveying confusion and throbbing love.
4.Paithiyam Pidikkuthu
Well, this song cannot be compared to the other Karthik songs doing the rounds now, but it has a soft dreamy quality of its own. Lackluster emoting could kill it.
6.Thuli Thuli
The sheer sense of joy that Haricharan brings to this song is so touching. The musical score, especially the strings, is also very tidy.[tscii:5d066098d6][/tscii:5d066098d6]

Nan Mahan Alla Music review by Malathy Sundaram:
Produced by K.E.Gnanavelraja, S.R.Prakash Babu and S.R.Prabhu, this film, a city-based subject, is being directed by Suseendran( remembered fondly for his ‘Vennila Kabadi kuzhu’). We have Karthi, Kajal Aggarwal, Jayaprakash, Soori and others starring in it. Yuvan Shankar Raja handles the music department. Yuvan and Karthi come together for the third time here, after the very successful ‘Paruthiveeran’ and ‘Paiyaa’. Has the magic come through in this album too? Let us check.
Va Va Nilava Pidichu..
Vocals: Rahul Nambiar
Lyrics: Na.Muthukumar
Ah, such sweet lyrics! One is glad that Yuvan chose just the right rhythm and melody to keep its feel intact. This song, with an Ilayaraja touch to it, just wafts into your ears like a spring breeze. Accordion- like notes, soft flute bits and the
interesting turn into Shanmukapriya raga when the chorus goes’ni sa ri ga ri sa ni, ma pa dha ni dha pa ma’ all add to the interest. The song itself seems to follow the Suddha Danyasi scale.
Iragai Pola...
Vocals: Yuvan and Tanvi Shah
Lyrics: Yugabarathy
Interesting rhythm pattern, but something you’ve heard before in some of his songs. What holds you here is the way he has wrapped it softly round the lyrics and the quirky, (repetitive) instrumental bit after ‘nee mattum podhum’ that seems to say ‘oh, yeah; oh yeah’. Tidy string work. The song gets amusingly assertive at the end. A little more emotion from Yuvan could have been nicer.
Oru Maalai Neram...
Vocals: Javed Ali, Shilpa Rao
Lyrics: Na.Muthukumar
The wonderful nervous excitement that accompanies the process of falling in love is so adequately reflected in this number, with its sharp fluttery notes. Again, the accordion-like notes that playfully go’ ma pa ma pa—ga sa ni sa ni dha—dha ni dha pa—etc (on the Natabairavi scale) add a fine folksy touch. Javed Ali is heartwarming.
Dheivam Illai...
Vocals: Madhu Balakrishnan
Lyrics: Yugabarathy
A mournful dirge, sung with a rare sensitivity by Madhu Balakrishnan. The rhythms and music stand almost politely behind. This song probes the loss of a mother. We think Yuvan has used the Saveri raga here (the notes ‘ma pa dha sa; pa dha ri sa sa etc;), but we are not sure. With good emoting, it could make the right impact. Could hit the charts too.
Va Va Nilava: Repeat of song no.1
Verdict:
Softly expressive music, very pertinent lyrics, controlled beats, yes; this album has quite a few plus points. Nothing new, but something you’d love to curl up with on a rainy day. Let us see what Karthi adds to it on screen. Well done, Yuvan!

Wow what a album...sure hit...!
All the songs r totally smashing.
My list is:
1. Iyle iyle - Wow this is a contender to 1st place in all the music lists. What a package. Something new, and cool stuff. Super super.
2. Yaar Antha Ponnu - soothing melody (There is one lovely melody in all yuvans albums)
3. Mama Mama - sema kuthu song. Vijay Yesudas is super in this song
4. Thathi Thaavum - new try to from yuvan. the way it has been spinned together is very nice. Maybe the lyric could have been better.
5. Ada Boss Boss - cool sounds. Super beats.
But i am totally in love with Iylee iylee. What a song. Out of this world. Enough from me for this album. Rest of the songs r bonus ;-)

Karthik's take!
Pathinaru (Music review), Tamil – Yuvan Shankar Raja
The intriguing start and the techno backgrounds of Ada da paves way to a standard anupallavi, only to shine again in the interludes. Yuvan’s off-key vocals continue to work well with his soulful tune in Yaar solli; musically too, it is brilliant! Karthikraja gets a conventional tune in Kaatuchedi, marked only by occasionally interesting orchestration, while Vaanam namadhe‘s philosophical outlook in powerful vocals and pulsating music is a good listen. The theme music, unfortunately, is the umpteenth variant of Yuvan’s Kaadhal Konden-style music. Listenable, but the repetitive sound that we celebrate as Yuvan’s trademark is starting to get tedious now.

Peasu songs are out. The album iterates that Yuvan has impinged into Raaja's teritory, with his own creative style. A complete album from Yuvan after a while.
My pick in order of preference so far: Ithayam Peasuthey (Love this because the anupallavi is reminiscent of Engayo Partha), Vennira Iravugal, and Unthan Varthaiyil.
Kettimelam (Has Hindi in it :D) and En Per Devathai haven't impacted me as much as others on first listen, though En Per Devathai has the best interludes in the album the tune itself is pretty much ordinary. I obviously will need to give these two more listens though.
