I had one look at Kathal Azhivathillai, and I froze (my eyes moved tho). And then it became worse - he was crude and crass especially to his heroines. I swore I'll never watch any of his films ever.

Many many years later, Manmadhan happened. Many raved about the film. I tried to resist but it was futile. :D
Watched it on TV and said "not bad." :lol:

Then started watching other movies of his and liked some of them - Saravana :think:

Then I watched Vallavan - in the cinema :yessir:

Anyway ignored him as well.

After a while started watching. The turning point was Thiruvilaiyadal Aarambam. I dont remember laughing that loud. :rotfl:

As luck would have it, I watched PEAS in the cinema - 1st time in my life I felt like walking out of the cinema.

Then Polladhavan happened. And then Yaaradi Nee Mohini. Was impressed enough to re vist the cinema for Padikathavan. Enjoyed it too.

But on reflection, most of his films have the same theme running thru - he's from poor background, falls in love with rich girl. acts cute and wins the girl.

Anyway, I think he has potential.

I was impressed with his dancing skills in Boys. More than Sidharth. So much so, in the old TFM Page, I used the nick Bob Galy to play Paatukku Pattu. :lol2:

Then a few other films happened - which didnt impress me much (including the dubbed latchavadhiyE song.)

Watched Chellame (Vishal's first film :roll: ) where he played the negative role. :thumbsup:

And then Emttan Magan happened. :clap: :clap: :clap: What a wonderful performance - reminded me so much of my own youth!

Later I watched Pattiyal where he played a mute. And then watched him in the cinema for the first time - Veyyil.

With similar expectations went for Chennai Kadhal :P and then later Nepali. By which time he had become chinna thalapathy :sigh2:

The final nail was Muniyandi VMA. I went to watch on the strength of Thirumurugan. :wave:

Did watch Aasai Aasaiyai - he was barely out of his childhood then - nothing much to write about. I lost interest and never really followed his career.

First film that impressed me was E. And I watched the film in cinema becos of the director Jananathan. I was taken aback at Jeeva's acting and then started revisiting his earlier films.

Raam was good. Dishyoom was very different. Altho Katradhu Thamizh was pretentious, I enjoyed Jeeva's portrayal.

I even liked his "masala" Rameshwaram.
Havent watched SMS or TVT. But this poy has potential.

On a side note - we should have a Karunas Vs Surya (who is more talented) and Karunas Vs Dhanus (who is more talented) - KArunas would be my choice for his effortless comedy and the amazing pathos - he showed in the above scene I have mentioned + his singing ability too- awesome Gana singer!!

I have already put my neck in the line and said he is more spontaneous and natural actor when compared to even say a Surya (sivakumar's first born son and more recently gundu muzhi jyothika's husbend)

Karunas is funny at times...i thought the phone booth scene is YNM and "nee sollu" in Pollathavan was absolutely rocking!

Arya: Strong presence. Good in humour. Still need to prove.
Bharath: Great start. Stuck in masala-land. Still need to prove.
Dhanush: Very very entertaining actor. He can bring something extra to the table - exactly the kind actor whom I am interested.
Jeeva: Very impressed. Like Dhanush, he brings something more. Easy sense of humour (E, Dishyum), but he need to impress in Masala films.
Simbhu: Can't decide if he wants to be Rajini, Kamal or his dad. Not interested in him.

On International Youth Day (August 12), we pick five young Tamil heroes, below 30 who are going to be the future of Kollywood. These guys have charisma, an opening, fan base and above all youth on their side.

They are young, enthusiastic and raring to go – but on their own terms. The young heroes in Kollywood are coming forward to experiment in new roles. The era of candy floss cinema seems to be over in Tamil and the truth is that all the young stars are looking out for realistic and sensible content in the scripts that they choose.

The top five youth stars of 2009 in Kollywood at the box-office are Dhanush, Jayam Ravi, Bharath, Silambarasan and Jeeva. All these guys have churned out solo hits and have a connect with generation next audiences.

Dhanush- He is clearly the number one among the under 30 brigade. The star had a hat- trick of hits like Pollathavan, Yaaradi Nee Mohini, Padikkathavan in a span of 18 months. At the moment he is the most saleable young star in the industry whose next film Kutty, may be sold in the Rs 18 to 20 crore range. And for his forthcoming Mappillai, it is strongly rumoured that the actor got a whopping Rs 5 crore as salary!

Jayam Ravi- His rise has been slow and steady and has proved that he is bankable young star with back to back hits like Santosh Subramaniyam and Dhaam Dhoom. His films are packaged entertainers aimed at the family and youth audiences. Ravi has also successfully managed to shed his chocolate boy image and emerged as an “angry young man” with DD. Now all eyes are on his action packed Peranmai.

Bharath- His rise from one of the Boys, to a leading man in mass masala entertainers is what Kollywood dreams are about. The guy is prolific, 15 films in six years, does at least two films at a time, which at times has been his undoing. Bharath has oodles of talent and has worked his way up, without any industry connections or godfathers. Now he is turning into a sophisticated cool cat in Kanden Kadhalai his big ticket to superstardom.

Silambarasan- He is an all rounder star, singer and director and has everything going for him, a fantastic dancer, right connections and a solid fan base. But somehow lady luck has not been shining on him. Simbu’s last release Silambattam took a fantastic opening, proving that he has a huge following among the youth. Now all eyes are on his Gautham Menon directed Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya, which many feel will give him an all new image and a super star status.

Jeeva- He is the most hard-working young star in the industry who does not mind being innovative in the kind of films he does. From a class hero Jeeva has overnight emerged into a mass hero with Thenavattu, followed by a multiplex kind of breezy romantic Shiva Manasulla Sakthi. The trade pundits are betting big on him as he has the right mixture of films like Singam Puli and Kacheri Aarambham.

At first, I didn't believe that it was Selvaraghavan's story...I was mighty impressed with his Kadhal Kondein and 7G, that could the reason why I had high expectations for this film.

I found that the second half was too cliched...the only reason I kept watching was because of the girl who acted as Nayanthara's cousin...probably YNM would have been better if Selva had directed it.

I liked the movie. I felt that apart from Kadhal Kondein and Puthupethai, AOK is the one other film which focused a lot on his acting.

His mother's funeral scenes and the indifference he had towards his dad, followed by his out-burst in the prison cell were not only touching but spoke a lot about his ability to emote in emotional scenes :2thumbsup:
Climax than out, IMO. Hard to believe that a police officer would release a convict for love :shock:

DG says some "traditional" dialouge like "pethu valarthom" etc etc for which dhanush replies,

"enna chumma adhaye sollitu irukeenga... petheengalla... valathu thaan aaganum... panni kooda than kuttiya pethu poduthu..." (not verbatim).

Actor Dhanush is peeved about the fact that he is being impersonated on Facebook, the popular social networking site.

Says Dhanush: "My identity has been stolen by someone in virtual space and I am not going to take it lightly after realizing that almost 4000 people, mostly my fans across the globe are interacting with this person thinking that it´s me!"

The problem is that this particular person who has opened an account in the name of Dhanush Kasthuri Raja has been connecting with actor´s fans and posing as if he is the real Dhanush. This is a clear case of impersonation as well as cheating many who adore the actor.

Adds Dhanush: "This person has been connecting with my fans who don't know that the ID is fake. I want to nip this problem in the bud".

The actor is worried that someone might end up using his name to con people and thereby tarnish his image and brand name.

Sources close to the actor say that if the fake ID is not deactivated soon, Dhanush might take up the matter with Indian cyber crime police authorities.
