With the Tamil Film board growing continuously, its about time that such discussions are split. Thus the creation of this new forum for exclusive dicussions on Old Tamil films.

What are "old"? You decide!

Let the memories begin!

NOV,

I feel sorry that there has been a division among Tamil films threads and I feel pushing these into a seperate section is not right. This indirectly implies that Tamil films released earlier and especially NT threads doesn't deserve a place in the main Tamil films section.

I am not entitled to talk about others but my spending time here itself is to introduce NT and his films to the younger generations, who might not have the chance to know about these things and I am sure you would agree that it became the most popular thread. But pushing these into a seperate section (and naming it as retro), I feel we are shutting the door on them. The newcomers especially youngsters will simply bypass this section.

What made the Mods to decide on such a course of action, I don't know but it hurts.

ஆனால் எல்லா சோதனைகளையும் வென்ற நடிகர் திலகம் இதிலும் வெல்வார்.

Regards

Totally agree with Murali-sar. But I notice, NT's thread is still in the other section, but still with Retro link on the top :?

Can't echo this more! If the Tamil section is getting overly crowded, deleting "unnecessary" or "irrelevant" threads is a much better option, than splitting the threads based on chronology! We do have a ton of threads/posts that are not of any value, right?

Rakesh, Raghavender Sir, Bay and Plum,

Thanks for your support. But NOV is promising that this will not diminish the importance but rather enhance it. The ideas he had put forth sounds interesting.

Let us give a fair trial before deciding.

Murali-sar, we shall wait and see.

But I definitely would like Sathanai Sigaram thread to be in the other section as well. That will be in sync with your point of attracting younger or new fans. Plus its easy for fans like me to make a quick reference without having to leave that section. Up to NOV now.

NOV, could you please move the MGR thread to the Tamil films section as well, and have a link here too - the same way like you have for Sivaji thread! I don't think the reasoning is going to be any different from what you got for the Sivaji thread... :P

.

What is the Classification of OLDIES.?

That which are known ONLY to the OLDY GENERATION

....(Senior Citizens .. the Current days BALDIES.!)...

Hence DISAPPEARED from the PRESENT DAY'S Popular Market.

...as also from vivid MEMORIES of Most of Present Society too.!

So the Movies of MGR and SHIVAJI cannot be classified as OLDIES.!

Since they are STILL LIVING... as IMMORTALS.!

EVERGREEN in memory of Current Youth Society too.!

With the Tamil Film board growing continuously, its about time that such discussions are split. Thus the creation of this new forum for exclusive dicussions on Old Tamil films.

What are "old"? You decide!

Let the memories begin!

So only the Black & White Movies...

....of MKT, PUChinnappa, MSSubbulakshmi era.... ONLY can be classified as Oldies...

..on which THE BALDIES like me only... can know and communicate several Feast News... to all..

...INTERESTING to the Youth of the Current era too.!

"Old" - Everything-n-anything that is PAST / BYGONE in terms of TIME is OLD.

When this is applied to films or cine music of HFM or TFM - the meaning is the same . But, depending upon the age of the individual concerned OLD could be: a minute ago, or an hour ago, or a day ago, a month ago, years,etc...just anything.

But generally, cine music lovers (those 40+ and above like me...are more keen into the cine music/TFM or HFM between the period 1933-50.The chief reason being more than 75% of the music of such films are "still in the dark/obscurity" although afficionadoes like me are pursuing every effort to unearth and preserve them in a perfect recorded condition ...like digitalising them on Flac format .

The task is a gigantic one and needs perseverance and dedication alongwith continuous flow of funds ...for which purpose I am still 'living'.
I would like all members in the age group of 40+ who have a passion for HFM / TFM of the period aforesaid to keep in touch with the3 undersigned since , I am in the process of regularly posting articles on Google groups: rec.music.indian.misc on some topic relating to cine music or the other alongwith 'audio clips only' from my personal library.

Those wishing to receive the audio clips from time2time in their IBs should send a formal email request to : sjhhhtm@gmail.com
for including their email addresses.
