சிவாஜியில் தமிழ்ச் செல்வி என்ற பாத்திரத்தில் தலைவருக்கு ஜோடியாக நடித்த பிறகு நடிகை ஸ்ரேயாவின் வாழ்க்கையே மாறிவிட்டது. காரணம் அதற்கு முன் அவர் தமிழில் சொல்லிக் கொள்ளும் அளவுக்கு ஒரு இடத்தில் கூட இல்லை.

தனது இந்த உயர்வுக்குக் காரணம் என்னவென்று சமீபத்தில் நிருபர்களிடம் பகிர்ந்து கொண்டார்.

அவர் கூறியதாவது:

தமிழில் ஜெயம் ரவிக்கு ஒரு ராசி உண்டு. அவருடன் நடிக்கும் புதுமுக நடிகைகள் எல்லோரும் பிரபலமாகி விடுவார்கள். சதா, திரிஷா, அசின், ஜெனிலியா என அப்பட்டியல் நீள்கிறது.

ஆனால் எனக்கு அது நேர் விரோதமாக இருந்தது. அவருடன் நான் நடித்த “மழை” படம் சரியாக போகவில்லை. இதனால் ராசி இல்லாத நடிகை என எனக்கு முத்திரை குத்தினார்கள்.

இனி தமிழ் படங்கள் அவ்வளவு தான் என்று நினைத்து தெலுங்கில் கவனம் செலுத்த ஆரம்பித்தேன். அப்போது தான் “சிவாஜி” படத்தில் நடிக்க வாய்ப்பு வந்தது. அப்படம் வெற்றிகரமாக ஓடியது. ரஜினியால் நான் அதிர்ஷ்ட சாலியானேன். ராசி இல்லாத நடிகை என்ற “இமேஜ்” விலகியது. என் வாழ்க்கையில் சிவாஜி ஒரு திருப்புமுனை படமாக அமைந்தது. இப்போது கந்தசாமி படம் வரை கொண்டு வந்து விட்டுள்ளது.

நான் சாய்பாபா பக்தை. எந்த கஷ்டம் வந்தாலும் அவர் கைவிடமாட்டார். சினிமா என்பது கோடிகள் புரளும் தொழில். இதில் கிளாமர் முக்கியம். அழகு, உழைப்பு, அதிர்ஷ்டம் ஆகிய மூன்றும் என்னை இந்த அளவுக்கு உயர்த்தியுள்ளது.

முதல் படத்தில் இருந்தே என்னை கிளாமர் நடிகையாகத்தான் பார்க்கிறார்கள். என்னுடைய உடல் வாகுக்கு புடவை கட்டி நடித்தால் எடுபடாது. ரசிகர்கள் விரும்பமாட்டார்கள். கிளாமருக்கும் ஒரு எல்லை வைத்து இருக்கிறேன். அளவோடு தான் இருக்கும். கதைக்கு தேவையான அளவு கவர்ச்சி காட்டுவேன்.

நம்பர் ஒன் நடிகை போட்டியில் எல்லாம் எனக்கு நம்பிக்கை இல்லை. எல்லா நடிகைகளுமே ஒவ்வொரு கால கட்டத்தில் நம்பர் ஒன் ஆக இருப்பார்கள். யாருக்கும் அது நிரந்தரமானது அல்ல, என்கிறார் ஸ்ரேயா.

Shriya Saran may be a busy actress, but that did not deter the star from participating in the three-day meditation program conducted by a popular yoga mission in Coimbatore. The actress is reportedly staying in the Ashram for meditation and yoga. It is said that Shriya will return to Chennai after she completes her mediation and yoga programs.

It is worth mentioning here that several Bollywood and Kollywood stars are turning to yoga and meditation to get that glowing skin and enhance their beauty. Yet another actress to visit the yoga ashram is Nanditha Das.

Today is a big day in Shriya’s life. The much-awaited Kanthaswamy directed by Susi Ganeshan, that stars Vikram and her in the lead, is hitting the screens today. “I worked very hard for Kanthaswamy,” she says. But sadly, Shriya isn’t in Chennai to catch all
the action and buzz surrounding the film. According to sources, while her co-star Vikram is busy promoting the film abroad, Shriya is spending some quiet moments in a hill station. “Yeah. I’m now at the ashram in Coimbatore. I’m continuing my meditation and yoga programme. It’s really helping me beat the stress,” she says. But, she adds that she’ll somehow make it up to her fans. “It’s really unfortunate that I am missing the fun part. In fact, I haven’t even seen the complete movie till now. Like the audience, I’m eagerly waiting to watch the film.” While her magnum-opus is releasing today, Shriya has almost completed her next flick in Tamil with Dhanush and Sammir — Kutty.Visibly excited about the project, Shriya says with a smile, “It’s a lovely love story. The filming for the movie is almost complete, with just one song remaining to be shot. I play a college girl — someone who we all bump into every day. This is one movie which will make you fall in love,” she says. Shriya truly believes that variety is the spice of life. “In Kan - thaswamy,I play a rich girl who falls for the superhero. She travels a lot, spends lavishly and lives in a dream world. But, in the second half of the film, she connects with reality. In Kutty, I play the girl-nextdoor. Subbalakshmi of Kan - thaswamy is completely different from Geetha of Kutty, and that’s why I enjoyed doing these two movies,” she signs off on a happy note.

The event was organized under the aegis of Isha Foundation’s Pasumai Karangal Scheme, which donated over 25,000 saplings. Shriya Saran celebrates her birthday today (September 11).

The pretty young lady was in Chennai on the eve of her birthday for an event launch and she told Sify.com: “I am flying off to Mumbai tonight to be with my family on my birthday. “

Shriya who is upbeat about Kanthaswamy success, says that the character of Subbulakshmi was a well-etched out character and she enjoyed doing the film as much as the audiences accepted her.

Now she is waiting for the release of Jaggu Bhai and Kutty, both according to her have shaped out well.

On how she is planning to celebrate her birthday, Shirya said: “I normally have low-key birthday s. I was away shooting in Mysore but have planned a small get-together for my close set of friends in Mumbai in the evening. Indian Institute of Management- Ahmedabad (IIM-A), the top B-school in the country, had a celebrity lecturer on Friday. It was none other than Shriya Saran who was invited by the institute to give a guest lecture after the likes of Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan.

The actress gave a lecture to the second year students of contemporary film industry (CFI) which is an elective course for the postgraduate programme at IIM-A. And the topic was marketing and branding of a film.

“I feel elated when I got an invitation from IIM-A. Because I am well aware that it is one of the prestigious management schools in India and lecturing there is no short of a national honour. I was thrilled to interact with some of the brilliant minds of the country,” says Shriya.

After the actress described how things move in Tamil and Telugu film industries, a question-answer session followed where she handled all the queries with spontaneity and humour.

“I did a lot of research for almost five days to impress the budding managers,” she says. The course was introduced by the IIM-A recently and it gives hands-on experience on movies and entertainment, besides providing a glimpse of the global film industry.

After sizzling in glamourous roles, Shriya Saran now says she would like to establish herself as a talented actress by playing characters that have enough scope to display her acting skills on screen.

“I am careful and choosy now. I am waiting for a meaty role which would give me opportunity to prove myself. Doing glamorous roles alone is of no use,” says the actress, who is currently shooting in Switzerland for a Telugu film.

On her forthcoming movies, she says, “I am currently acting opposite Ravi Teja in ‘Don Seenu’. I am there opposite Arya in Kollywood’s ‘Chikku Bhukku’. I have recently completed Deepa Mehta’s ‘What’s Cooking?’.”

Shriya who has a foot in all the south languages has replaced Trisha in a film. The fairy who was out of Tollywood for some time is returning with a bang. Her comeback film in Telugu opposite Ravi Teja is ‘Don Seenu’, which was originally offered to Trisha.

But Trisha who is still busy shooting for her first Hindi film ‘Khatta Meeta’ with Akshay Kumar will not be able to get ready for ‘Don Seenu’ in time. More over Trisha also has another big film in Tamil ‘Yavarum Kelir, directed by K S Ravikumar, which requires bulk dates from her. As she will be seen with Kamal Haasan- Madhavan in ‘Yavarum Kelir’ she can’t afford to mess up. Smart Trisha so opted out of the Telugu film.

Meanwhile Shriya‘s first Malayalam film ‘Pokkiri Raja’ with Mammootty and Prithviraj is ready and she is waiting for her moment in Kollywood.

Shriya is returning to Tollywood after almost five years. She will also be seen doing an item number for S J Suryah directed ‘Puli’ with Pawan Kalyan.

Shriya who wants her projects in Tamil to take off immediately to keep up her recall value after a good outing with ‘Kutty’ may have to wait for more time. That’s what it looks like. Her ‘Jagubhai’ has not made enough noises and ‘Chikku Bhukku’ is not in the news for long. Now another shocker may be in her film with Jeeva.

Her ‘Rowthiram’ opposite Jeeva which was announced to start in February show no signs of it. Jeeva and Shriya were supposed to start shooting for the film in February. But Jeeva suddenly changed his priorities and got committed in ‘Ko’ for director K V Anand. Now it seems Jeeva will be available for ‘Rowthiram’ only after finishing ‘Ko’.

Indian Institute of Management- Ahmedabad (IIM-A), the top B-school in the country, had a celebrity lecturer on Friday. It was none other than Shriya Saran who was invited by the institute to give a guest lecture after the likes of Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan.

The actress gave a lecture to the second year students of contemporary film industry (CFI) which is an elective course for the postgraduate programme at IIM-A. And the topic was marketing and branding of a film.

“I feel elated when I got an invitation from IIM-A. Because I am well aware that it is one of the prestigious management schools in India and lecturing there is no short of a national honour. I was thrilled to interact with some of the brilliant minds of the country,” says Shriya.

After the actress described how things move in Tamil and Telugu film industries, a question-answer session followed where she handled all the queries with spontaneity and humour.

“I did a lot of research for almost five days to impress the budding managers,” she says. The course was introduced by the IIM-A recently and it gives hands-on experience on movies and entertainment, besides providing a glimpse of the global film industry.

You know what Shriya Saran is upto these days? The beautiful lass is learning Yoga very seriously. It is heard that her ‘Pokkiri Raja’ co-star Prithviraj, had apparently introduced her to his Yoga Guru. All the unit members claim that after practicing Yoga, she is quiet on the sets and seems to be listening to all the directions patiently. Looks like Yoga is transforming her into a positive actor.

On the other hand, with her ‘Jaggubhai’ starring Sarath Kumar being a hit, Shriya is paired opposite ‘Siva Manasula Sakthi’ hero Jeeva in ‘Rowthram’.

Shriya Saran hardly finds a reason to regret her doing an item number in a Telugu film titled ‘Puli’, directed by S J Suryah with Tollywood top hero Pawan Kalyan in the lead role.

Says the Jaggubhai’s daughter, “There is nothing wrong in doing item numbers. They are special songs which add value to a movie. I am shaking legs to the tunes of music maestro A R Rahman, that too with Pawan Kalyan, a very big star.”

She adds: “Filmmakers feel special songs crucial for a movie’s success and they rope in top actresses to do justice to the number. I would definitely do justice for the purpose director Suryah has signed me.”

On playing Sarath Kumar’s daughter in ‘Jaggubhai’, she says, “I found the storyline very interesting and my character with enough scope to perform. Hence I did the role. The feedbacks I have been getting are proving it true.”

Kollywood actress Shreya Saran lost her shopping valuables in Barcelona. She was robbed while travelling in a train.

The actress, who has been in Europe shooting for a Tamil film, decided to make good use of her day off and went for shopping along with unit friends in Barcelona. On their way back, they took a train, and midway, Shreya and her colleagues suddenly realised that they had been robbed on the train itself. The actress was calm about the incident but was amazed over the fact that none of them realized that they were being robbed.


Despite the stress, Shreya is calm about the incident. She told her friends, "Everyone has to get nicked sometime. I think this was my turn. But I’m seriously amazed that none of us even felt it happening. We just discovered it much later, as we were getting off."

Revealing how much the loss was, the actor said, “Oh, some very pretty curios for the house, a couple of bags, shoes. Barcelona is such a beautiful place, that I just want to go back again, purely on holiday. And I’m going to tie all my bags around my neck, so no one dares nick me again."
