கிளைமாக்ஸில் சுப்பு லாரியால் விபத்துக்குள்ளாக்கும் காட்சி உண்மையாக இருந்திருந்து, சம்பத்தும் இறந்து போய் படத்தை முடித்திருந்தால் நிச்சயமாக இந்தப் படம் ஒரு ஸ்பெயின் படத்தின் காப்பி என்று உறுதியாகச் சொல்வேன். இப்போது முழுமையாக இல்லை.. 95 சதவிகிதம் காப்பி என்று மட்டுமே உறுதியுடன் சொல்கிறேன்..!

சினிமா விமர்சனம் : ஆரண்ய காண்டம் - ஆனந்த விகடன்

ஒரு கேங்ஸ்டர் குரூப்பில் நடக்கிற சிலந்தி வலைப் பின்னல்களே 'ஆரண்ய காண்டம்’!

''ஈவு இரக்கம் எவ்ளோ ரேட்டுப்பா?'' எனக் கேட்கிற கேங் லீடர் ஜாக்கி ஷெராஃப். அவரது தளபதி சம்பத், தனியே தொழில் பண்ண நினைக்கிறார். குருவிடம் அனுமதி கேட்க வரும்போது ஈகோ வெடிக்கிறது. இன்னொரு பக்கம் ஜாக்கி ஷெராஃப் வலுக் கட்டாயமாக வைத்துக் 'குடும்பம்’ நடத்தும் யாஸ்மினுக்கும் (அறிமுகம்), கும்பலின் 'சப்ப’ ரவிகிருஷ்ணாவுக்கும் காதல். இந்த இரு கதைகளின் முடிவு பதறடிக்கிற க்ளைமாக்ஸ்!

தொடக்கம், முடிவு, விளக்கம் என்ற ஃபார்முலாக்களை உடைத்து, தடதடக்கிற திரைக்கதையை உலகத் தரத்தில் உருவாக்க எடுத்த முயற்சிக்காகவே, அறிமுக இயக்குநர் குமாரராஜா தியாகராஜனை ஆரவாரமாக வரவேற்கலாம்!

சுமோ கும்பல் சேர்க்காமல், வெகு சில மனிதர்களை வைத்துப் பண்ணப்பட்ட நிழல் உலகத்தின் நுணுக்கமான பதிவு அசத்தல். காலையில் அப்போதுதான் குளித்து முடித்து வருகிற யாஸ்மினை, பல் துலக்காமல் படுக்கையில் தள்ளி அறைகிற ஜாக்கியின் குரூரத்தைக் காட்டும்போதே படம் பளிச் என்று டேக் ஆஃப் ஆகிறது. ''வயசாயிருச் சுல்ல வேலைக்காவ மாட்ட...'' என சம்பத் சொல்ல, சட்டென்று பல் இளிப்பதும், ''அவளை எங்கேயாச்சும் வெளியே கூட்டிப் போ'' என ரவிகிருஷ்ணாவிடம் பணம் கொடுத்துவிட்டு, அதில் இருந்து ஒரு நோட்டைப் பிடுங்கிக்கொள்வதுமாக ஜாக்கி ஷெராஃபின் வக்கிரத்தைச் சொன்னதில் அத்தனைக் கச்சிதம்!

முக பாவங்களில் மிரட்டுகிறார் ஜாக்கி. கண்களில் வழியும் வன்மத் தில், அசரடிக்கிற வில்லன். ''அவரைக் கேட்டுத்தானே பண்ணேன்'' எனக் கொந்தளிப்பதில் இருந்து, வெறி பிடித்து ஓடித் திட்ட மிடுவது வரை சம்பத்... அபாரம்.

ஜமீனாக வருகிற சோமசுந்தரம், அவரது பையனாக வரும் வசந்த் இருவரும் யாருப்பா? தமிழ்த் திரைக்குப் பிரமாதமான வரவுகள்! உதட்டில் ரத்தம் கசிய, ''உன்னாலதான் முடியலன்னா... என்னை ஏன் அடிக்கிற'' எனக் குமுறுவதும் ஜாக்கியை நினைத்து வெடவெடப்பதுமாக யாஸ்மினும் நடிக்கத் தெரிந்த நல்வரவு!

படத்தின் பெரிய ப்ளஸ் வசனமும் ஒளிப்பதிவும். ''என்னைப் பொறுத்தவரைக்கும் சப்பயும் ஒரு ஆம்பளதான், ஆம்பளைங்க எல்லாமே சப்பதான்...'' இப்படி எல்லா ஏரியாவிலும் ஷார்ப்பான வசனங்கள். விதவிதமான கோணங்களில் மிரட்டும் பி.எஸ்.வினோத்தின் கேமரா, படத்தை அடுத்த தளத்துக்குத் தூக்கிச் செல்கிறது. ரத்தம் கொப்பளிக்கும் கொலைகளுக்கு மென்மையாகக் கரையும் யுவனின் பின்னணி இசை, படம் முழுக்கவே புதிய அனுபவம். கேங்ஸ்டர் படங்களில் பார்த்துப் பழக்கப்பட்ட பல விஷயங்கள் இதிலும் இருப்பது அலுப்பு. லீடருக்கு அடுத்த இடத்தில் இருப்பவ னோடு மோதல், ஒரு 'சப்ப’ கேரக்டர் ட்விஸ்ட்டுக் குப் பயன்படுவது, தாதா தன் ஆளையே கோபத்தில் போட்டுத் தள்ளுவது என ஆங்காங்கே க்ளிஷேக் கள். திடுதிப்பென்று சம்பத்துக்கு மட்டும் வாய்ஸ் ஓவர் போடுவதால், கதை யார் கோணத்தில் நடக்கிறது என்ற குழப்பம். படம் முழுக்க ஆடு அறுப்பது மாதிரி கூட்டம் கூட்டமாகக் கொன்று குவிக்கிறார்கள்... ஏன் இந்தக் கொலைவெறி?

இருந்தாலும், சொல்வோம்... 'ஆரண்ய காண்டம்’ ஒரு முக்கியமான முயற்சி!

Wonderful! Initially, First half was a little disappointment. Second half more than compensated for it.

Music was truly a different experience. After Katradhu Tamil, this is the movie where Yuvan has gone beyond our expectation. Truly brilliant :clap:

I think so too. It is easily understandable from the first teaser (released a year ago) where the lady falls down in slow motion!

And, there was not a single character in the movie that did not perform well. Everybody did extremely well :clap:

Last Saturday or Sunday's TOI supplement carried an article titled "SPB Charan in Dire Straits?"
Seems he had invested heavily on making and promoting AK, and the movie's bad performance in BO badly affected him. The article also stated that Charan is in such a bad financial state that he is planning to sell of his dad's recording studio (Kothandapani studios in Saligramam) to pay off his debtors. :roll:

Coming to think of it, the only movie of SPBC which ran well was Chennai-28. All others were major flops - Mazhai, Naanayam, Kungumappoo, AK.

After reading almost the whole story in bits and parts, i saw this films last week. very engaging. great attempt. கொஞ்சம் புரியிராப்ளையும், இன்னும் கொஞ்சம் crispaagavum, ஒரு மசாலா item songum சேர்த்து எடுத்திருந்தா கொஞ்சம் ஓடிய்ருக்கும். Some times over compromise will do much bad.

Last Saturday or Sunday's TOI supplement carried an article titled "SPB Charan in Dire Straits?"
Seems he had invested heavily on making and promoting AK, and the movie's bad performance in BO badly affected him. The article also stated that Charan is in such a bad financial state that he is planning to sell of his dad's recording studio (Kothandapani studios in Saligramam) to pay off his debtors. :roll:

Coming to think of it, the only movie of SPBC which ran well was Chennai-28. All others were major flops - Mazhai, Naanayam, Kungumappoo, AK.

One of my friends still calls it "ஜாயி சரப் நடிச்ச தமிழ் படம்" When the movie was announced the Paper ads were quite creatively designed (Pulp fiction) but later on they didn't continue it.

Not that I expected anything less. And I did watch it in a thiruttu online print which had a few scenes missing. Anyway I thought each and every scene was beautifully constructed and had so much happening and so many things to observe. Actually instead of assessing the film as a whole, which I am unable to, assessing it w.r.to the individual scenes is easy. Bunch of brilliant scenes. More than Tarantino, I saw a lot of the Coens. The greatest opening and closing lines in a film ever. Delightful dialogues and some great acting. Also, Yuvar, take a bow. Stunning score. Din't quite like narrative/POV shift in the Sampath slo-mo scenes. Konjam overessplanation too. Anyway idhukku mEla edhirpaarkkavE mudiyaadhu. Yaaraavadhu innoru chaans kudungappaa Kumararajarkku..

PS: Charan tuitter-la 'I am ready to release the DVD but somebody should come forward to buy it' :oops: apdeenu sonnaapla, so watched this attu print.

Yes. Well deserved award for TK for AK. He very well knew what he was doing, was not over ambitious. This is one film for which the whole crowd stood up and applauded in the end. Actor Pasupathy being one of them. I am waiting for the dvd like many others.

This has been real disappointment that I could not even see lotus/suara/shrutilayam for this movie. Producer may have gone bankrupt and did not even care to release this movie on dvd.

thanks for the info. Yes I normally try to watch bad print. Seeing from your post the print is really poor. I would wait for few more months. But I don't have to dish to watch Vijay TV either. AFAIK,majority of tamil movies never get released on DVD which is a shame.There are so many recent movies which I want to watch but never get a chance.Heard and posted in some other thread that TV channels who buy the DVD rights also are the culprits,never release them so that repeat telecasts on their channels get an audience.

Somebody should stand up,deny them the rights and sell it to a professional company even if it is for a lower rate.Ultimately they will end up making the same money from royalty.

Not related to AK - SPB/Charan's Kothandapani Studios has been completely demolished now. In its place, a multi-storey apartment is being built. Downloaded from torrent... the print was bad while the audio quality is good.. tried watching it y'day, but stopped it after a while due to the bad print... initial scenes gave the impression that it is a good movie to watch.. stopped it and searched for better copy, but wasnt able to find any....:(

the animals in the "jungle" are very unique from one another..Jackie,sampath(very heroic),the boy and his father all giving terrific performances....

F.A.B.U.L.O.U.S ... Jamindhar, kodukapulli, singaperumal, pasupathi, gajapathi, sittu, sappa, subbu - summa sedhukiranya padatha!! Casting, dialogues, screenplay, Music, performances :clap: The casting is too good that the role Gajendran which comes only a few seconds is just perfect for all the madness of the role.

Dialogues like - 'avalugalukkulla avlo aambillai irundha, namma pombalaya maarida vendiyadhuthaan' , 'mavane nee uyiroda irundhirundha...kola pannirupen', 'yosanai ka ***' and all dialogues of kodukapulli and jamindhar - :notworthy:

Jackie shroff was such a pleasant surprise (reminded indran chandran mayor role). But the pick of the lot was Jamindhar (somasundaram) - terrific performance. Best Supporting actorku national award kuduthurukalaam...
