Nobody seems to write about the actual influence of these celebs in Tamil Cinema. Can we talk about this*, instead of beating around the bush :

*Meaning of Influence : The capacity to have an effect on the character, development, or behavior of someone or something, or the effect itself.

IMO such a list of influential people varies from time to time. AFAIK, MKT was the first to influence a wide section of the audience. Bhagavathar hairstyle became a rage during his heydays. Even today, it can be seen among Nadaswara Vidwans. :-)
Im sure, MGR and Sivaji fans will have many things to say about the impact of their idol's characters and movies on their own language, style and behaviour. Have'nt we seen our elderly relatives still sporting a pencil line moustache?

As a fan, I believe Kamal has been one of the most influential figures right from late 70's. It probably must have started with the hippie hairstyle and the long downward pointing moustache. Then came the 80's when every romantic hero in TFI 'had' to look and dress up like Kamal - Mike Mohan, Suresh are some that I can think of. Nayagan onwards, Kamal started a new trend - for every movie, he had an entirely different hairstlyle & moustache. Sathya, Aboorva Sagotharargal, Mahanadhi, Thevar Magan, Kuruthippunal, Panchathanthiram and Virumandi inspired thousands of his fans.

Kamal's influence on the other movie makers was seen post 2005 when every debutant wanted to make a violent movie on Madurai and adjoining towns - a trend kicked off successfully by Kamal in Virumandi. This I feel is one helluva influence, similar to the kind of influence which Bharathi Raja had post 16V.

And this is one of the best examples of his influence:

Actors singing on screen: There was a time - soon after the silent era, when every actor had to, not only act, but also sing in their movies. In fact, actors were chosen as protagonists based on their voice and singing skills than just looks. This was completely reversed by both the Thilagams. Dialogue delivery, looks, style and action gained more importance and from 50s to 70s, the heroes rarely sung for themselves on screen.

In this field too, Kamal became a trendsetter. He started off with one or 2 songs a year and now, it is very rare see a Kamal album without him singing at least one of the numbers. This influence can be seen in the current gen movies - Vijay, Dhanush, Simbu and other such younger stars prefer singing at least one song in all their movies.

it was a more of a slip that it was not included. Nothing deliberate. Sometimes it happens to us when we type continuously we tend to swallow couple of words...and this was one example.

Mr.MG Ramachandran's achievement in becoming a CM by effectively using Film is known to one and all. Infact, any budding political parties whether they have policy or not, will first put a stamp at the right corner of their poster and that is of Mr.M.G. Ramachandran. Such is his impact. Infact, I was supposed to mention the No.1 as Mr.Ganesa Ramachandran (combining both their names). None can deny. Similarly, even if people doesn't mention Nadigar Thilagam's name in the list, it shows their ignorance and bias and also, Nadigar Thilagam can be liked, disliked by anybody but nobody can Ignore him.

Wait for 2013, we can see once again another film of NT that will be the only film like this year's Karnan, which will break Karnan's record in Sathyam. :-)

I have mentioned what had happened prior to Apoorva Sahodarargal. YOU CAN VERIFY AND CHECK with ANYBODY in the Tamil Film Industry on the detail that I have provided.

I will never degrade any actor to establish the supremacy of Nadigar Thilagam. There is no proof required to say, we are able to see the "Sun" (or) "Moon"

If you have an access to Mr.SPM (or) Mr.KB, they will agree to what I have mentioned.

Mr.Kamalahassan is definitely one of the role model for today's generation and there is no second thought about that.

Do not approach an issue emotionally,instead remain calm, read and if you have any doubts, please verify belonging to that domain.

This is the pathetic state prevailing in TF's our viewers(mass) & money-minded producers/distributors see only the actors as center of excellence.

With just 1/few duds the directors become complete washouts whereas Actors continues to be a star in spite of repeated duds.
