[tscii:fddd0e3b53]Selvi, the television serial starring Radhika, has won the State government’s first prize in the small screen awards category for the year 2006.
An official statement said the award comprises Rs two lakh, a memento and a certificate.

The second prize has been bagged by Sorgam, produced by AVM.
Another serial, Alli Rajyam, produced by Vikatan Tele Vistas has won the award for the best weekly serial.
Each will get Rs one lakh, a memento and a certificate.
Abhishek has been adjudged the best actor (Malargal), while Kushboo was chosen the best actress for her performance in the teleserial `Kalki'.
A committee headed by Justice Maruthamuthu selected the serials and other awardees. Chief Minister M Karunanidhi will present the awards.
The function date will be announced later. Director Samuthirkani has been chosen as the best director for his serial Selvi.
Thiruchelvam, director of the serial Kolangal has been selected for the best achiever award. Rani Somanathan has won the lifetime achievement award.
They will be given Rs one lakh each, a memento and a certificate. Other awardees include Prem (editing), Kiran (music director), Ravi Sankar (male playback singer), Pramila (female playback singer) and Eswar (trick scenes in Sindubadh).
They will get a five sovereign gold medal, a memento and a certificate.
An elated Abhishek said, ‘it is a great honour for those who are working hard in small screen. I thank our small screen artistes and producers association for fighting hard to get the due recognition for us’.
‘The awards makes us more responsible. We have to continue the good work’, he added.
