AAG - Its Burning Hot !!!
A remake of Sholay ? Sort of
A Xerox Copy of Sholay ? Not at all
An Adaptation with another visionaries perspective ? - Yes that is what it is.
AAG - one of the most awaited movies of this year. I was excited about it since the day I came to know that RGV was making it. RGV specialises in these kind of movie. And as he kept of adding the star cast to it the Excitement just grew. @ of my favorite stars were a part of this movie. Though I was dissapointed with the names of Mohit Ahlawat first and then Prashant raj. But I am not dissapointed on the latter anymore.
So what is AAG all about. Most of us know the story. But Hold up, there is something in it which is different, very different. The treatment of the movie is all RGV style. Bits and pieces of the movie remind you of Company and Sarkar - the 2 preceeding masterpieces.
Its about 2 street-smart guys who have an ambition to take over mumbai. In this course they meet the venomous Ins Narsimha Rao. Who realises the potential in them and uses them to his advantage. But the 2 guys are only eyeing his money. A sudden eye-witnessing incident and a pain cled Durga's feelings change the 2 guys and they actually fight for justice.
What comes after is a great battle between The Backlashers and the Venom. Babban and his his troop has a tough time dealing with them.
So Will they be able to accomplish Narsinha's mission ?
Will Raj find his love in the widow Durga ?
Will Heero be able to graner the outcomings of Babban's plans ?
Will Raj die in the end ?
Will Babban escape ?
Well - Watch it to find all that out.
Coming down to the performances - they is actually more than one briliant performer in this movie .... which is a rare thing. But when u have names like Ajay, BigB and Mohan Lal in the movie, you expect that.
Amitabh Bachchan as Babban spells terror. He is brilliant with his dialouge delivery and his facial expressions. Another thing that Amitabh effectively displays is how cold hearter a villian can be. His dirty look, his bluish green eyes do the trick for him and what he gives us is a performance to remember. 5/5
Ajay Devgan - the name itself says qualitative performance. Ajay Rocks the screen right from his entry and keeps the giggles coming till the second half. He perfors decently in this one. But when, he shifts gears and comes down to his serious acting,m He even smashes amitabh bachchan out of the view in some of the confrontation scenes. A top notch performance 4.5/5
Mohanlal - A shorter role for him here but the most significant role of the movie. His hindi-mallu accent and the way he speaks brings back memoirs of Company. His scenes with amitabh bachcan actually leave u guessing that who is performing well .... its actually both. They compliment each other pretty well. Hope we get to see more of them together. - 4.5/5
Prashant Raj - BOOM !!! Here is a surprise for you. Swashbuckling performance. Knock Out performance. That is what PR has given us. The last time I saw a new comer perform really well in his first movie was way back in 2000. Yup that was again in an RGV movie and as many of U wudve guessed it right - Vivek Oberoi. PRs performance cant be classified as path breaking performance ... but he can be a really good second fiddle hero .. fcuk all zated, fartdin, gayday chopras and john harams ... PR is better than the whole lot. 3.5/5
Ladies :
Sush : Looks sober even without make ups. Perofmance truly to the character. 4/5
Nisha Kothari - Oomphs !!! A very improved performance. She does it pretty well. 3/5
SUshant, Rajpal, Sachin, Gaurav do well.
Star of the Show
Is it Big B ?? NO
It is Ajay ?? No
It is Mohan Lal ?? No
Nisha - No, Sush - No, Sushant - No Anyone else - NO
the star of the show is Ram Gopal Varma.
He hits the bulls eye with this one. What direction man...
Karan Johar Ga** .. go n join RGV's classes. RGV is back big time after 2 debacles called Nishabdh and Shiva - 2006. RGV strikes gold.
SO all in all an entertaining affair and a great movie to watch. RGV Rocks and so does the team of AAG.
Movie rating 4.25/5.
