Practical wisdom in picturesque speech

Our ancestors were simple folks who lived close to Nature. Their observations of simple & deep truths of worldly wisdom were expressed in effective statements called proverbs.

Most of the younger generations are unaware of the treasure house of wisdom we have inherited from our forefathers. So I feel it is better to record some of the vivid sayings which mainly use beast & bird analogies.

I shall add on as I remember them. Please feel free to contribute to this precious collection by adding proverbs ( let us limit to animal, bird related ones), explaining, anayising, commenting-enjoying,in short, a delightful subject!

His master asked him to put a letter in envelop & glue it exactly like a letter he had in hand. The servant promptly put the letter in the envelope, caught a fly('ee'), put it under the fold of the envelope before gumming it. The master was puzzled & asked him why he did that for which he replied that there was a dead fly under the lap of the envelope he showed. Complying with his orders to the letter he had ee adichified!

'kazuthaikku theriyumaa kaRpoora vaasanai'' has been found to be wrong in the old proverb thread, the correct one being 'kalasaththukku theriyumaa kaRpoora vaasanai'. But 'kazuthai' is widely popular in lay people's dialogues!
