This movie looks very interesting.
the second theme is very nice where the piano and the flute play back and forth.i bet this has the male lead and female lead flirting. From this soundtrack you can see how much ARRahman has grown working in international projects. I think Post WOHE we are seeing a New ARR.

could you upload the rest of the songs? There is 16 in total. The rest being by the other MD.

Are these the final version of the songs ?
I clearly see that ARR has avoided his usual stuff as lot of clones have come ........Thanks a lot for not using any electronic sounds !!!

The theme songs are good ...Simple music -can be made as a good concerto piece ...a Piano concerto piece ...

Hum hai - Good clean melody ....Going to be asure hit ..The interludes are quite simple ...Sure chart buster ..Reminds a lot of Devdas type and Hum dilke melodies with ARR orechestration - Ideal stuff ...

My WIsh comes true -
Again less orchestration - good that ARR wants to avoid all his regular stuff ....the string harmony and the flue piece is good ...Traces of Lagaan can defiently be sene ,but the tune is bit more poppish here ,however the orchestration is nice ...But the usage of flute reminds alot of Lagaan ...

I think Isamail Darbar will equally come up with something equally beautiful ...

Half-hearted blend effort by ARR. Yet there are those who claim, it is so good and so very different. Actually there is no depth in melody or even effort in his arrangements and mixing which he usually depends on to make a song sound good for the moment.
Mesmerising????? In what way i wonder. Only thing mesmerising is how come still fools are shamelessly praising this sort of effert..Tsk Tsk!

Kisna

By Joginder Tuteja, Dec 08th, 2004 - 1615 hrs IST

Once a while comes a movie that breaks all barriers and proves to be a turning point in Indian cinema. ' Kisna - The Warrior Poet ' doesn't claim to be one, as of now but by the look of things, it does seem to be treading the path of glory. If the feel of movie, world class crew and the biggest showman of today at the director's seat is anything to go by, then we should be having possibly one of the greatest movies of the modern world coming our way in Jan. 2005. Kisna , set in 1947 tells the story of characters played by Vivek Oberoi and debutants Isha Sharvani & Antonia Bernath. Sushmita Sen and Hrishitha Bhatt make special apearances while Amrish Puri, Om Puri and Zareena Wahab are in supporting roles. Mukta Arts Ltd. have always been known for great music in their films, be it Khalnayak, Saudagar, Pardes, Taal, Yaadein and now Kisna . Kisna also marks the coming together of A.R.Rehman and Subhash Ghai after Taal while Ismail Darbar also composes. Another ace in the sleeve is the lyrics by Javed Akhtar saab.

The mood is set right away with the ' Kisna Theme instrumental ' by A.R.Rehman. A short piece of flute makes for a haunting melody that stays with you hours after you have heard it first. Amazing - that's an apt word for this wonderful piece! Another part of the same instrumental comes up towards the end of the album and is a harmony between flute and a piano. Yet another masterpiece! Same flute is the base music for the divine romantic track ' Hum Hain Iss Pal Yahan '. Class speaks for itself in this track that has perfect vocals by Udit Narayan and Madhushree who impresses with her matured and polished voice. The soothing number has fantastic musical arrangements that would ensure that the song becomes one of the most talked about for next few weeks at the least.

Sukhwinder, Ismail Darbar, Ayesha I.Darbar and S.Shailja come together for the earthy number ' Woh Kisna Hai ' that is attached to the roots. Sukhwinder stands out especially for the energy with which he sings this number that is more of Subhash Ghai - Laxmikant Pyarelal combination than anything else. An extremely engaging song, it talks about Radha & Krishna in a manner that will be easily identified by one and all.

Another romantic duet, which is again from the LP school of music, arrives in the shape of ' Tu Itni Pagli Kyo Hai '. Sung by more popular 'jodi' of Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik and support from Ismail Darbar, it has good rhythm and is pretty catchy as well. By far, you have already got your money's worth from the album and are truly convinced that 'Kisna' - the movie - will have much more to offer with the kind of music it has by the maestros.

This is the moment where Sushmita Sen makes her appearance in the much talked about ' mujra ' - ' Chilman Uthegi Nahi '. The track crooned by the numbers of singers ranging from Hariharan, Alka Yagnik, Ayesha Darbar, S. Shailja, Kailash Kher and Rakesh Pandit, it would be known more for it's strong classical base, good rendering and situational appeal. It may not turn out to be another ' Salaam E Ishq ' or ' Dil Cheez Kya Hai ', but knowing Sushmita's grace and charm, it should look good on screen.

A happy song comes up as ' Wohi Din Aa Gaya ' where the bride is getting ready for her lover to come and marry her. A large group of friends also sing along in her happiness and joy. Sung by Alka Yagnik, Sukhwinder Singh, Ayesha Darbar and S. Shailja, it has a grand appeal and makes for another classy number, in spite of a routine situation. Javed saab's lyrics are simple that stay to the basics and yet make the number worth hearing.

Another situational song that has great spiritual appeal is ' Aham Brahmasmi ' by Sukhwinder and Alka Yagnik. It is about believing in your own self and considering GOD to be within you. In spite of a theme like this, it may still appeal to every segment of audience in the movie due to Subhash Ghai's style of direction. ' Kahe Ujadi Mori Neend ' that follows next is a pure classical number that may appeal only to a niche audience. Only those who have good knowledge about this genre of music would be able to relate to it!

' Ga - Tu Aisi Dhun Mein Ga ' has a trademark Subhash Ghai stamp all over it. It is about a song competition between village kids and the lead protagonist. The song is again attached to the roots and has a village feel to it, both in terms of the lyrics and the rendering by Ismail Darbar, Ayesha Darbar, S. Shailja, M. Salamat and Kailash Kher. Beginning as a kids song, it takes a turn towards a ' ched-chaad ' song with the village belles. Coupled with good picturization and a similar setting, the song could be in the league of ' Radha Kaise Naa Jale ' from ' Lagaan '.

Blaze writes the lyrics for the English romantic track ' My Wish Coms True ' by Sunitha Sarthy. Another amazing composition that has a good fusion of western theme and Indian instruments. It's not an overstatement but Sunitha's ' My Wish ' could well be India's answer to Celine Dion's ' My Heart Will Go On '! Grand finale comes up as the chorus of ' Hum Mile Na Mile ' that puts the final stamp of class to this superb score.

A couple of days back one thought that ' Bewafaa ' was the best way to end 2004. The statement still holds good with Kisna too joining the fray. Both the albums are in a class of their own and it's a win-win situation for all the music lovers who get to hear the timeless compositions by A.R. Rehman, Ismail Darbar and Nadeem Shravan in a span of 4 days.

Add ' Kisna ' to your music collection. You will cherish the album for at least next few months to come.

Rating: **** ½

Bollyvista reviews kisna

Kisna
By Abid ©2004 Bollyvista.com

Subhash Ghai, A.R. Rahman, Ismail Durbar and Javed Akhtar, can it get better than this? Let's
check out their latest offering, the music of 'Kisna -The Warrior Poet'.

The opening number, 'Kisna Theme' instrumental has some beautiful use of the flute by A.R.
Rahman. India's answer to Jethro Tull's flute?

Before the next track, it's Vivek Oberoi telling his beloved, "Kabhi kabhi hum ek doosre ko kho
kar bhi pyar ko ooncha kar dete hain. Juda rahkar pyar ki unchaiyon ko prapt karte hain. Hamen
pyar mila to nahin lekin judai bhi to ek pyar hai."

The simple, yet elegant and hypnotic lyrics of Javed Akhtar go "Hum hain is pal yahan. Jane hum
kal kahan. Hum mile na mile. Hum Rahe na rahe. Rahegi sada yahan pyar ki ye dastan. Sunegi sada
jise ye zameen aasma." Rahman keeps the music subdued and the vocals by Udit and Madhusree
enhanced. Later, the tempo picks up with the drums taking over and finally the song fades away,
leaving you spellbound and going for the audio's 'repeat' function.
Once again, you can hear the talented Vivek explaining about how every couple in love is
perceived as Radha and Krishna and the next track 'Woh Kisna hai' takes over and has Javed
Akhtar using a lot of 'Braj bhasha'. The song has a sort of 'Raas leela' touch and the singing
by Sukhvinder ('Woh kisna hai'), Aisha and Ismail Durbar and S. Shailja are good. Durbar
concludes the song with a good flute piece.

'Tu itni pagli kyon hai' begins with 'Ek baat bata. Ek baat bata. Jab tu mujhko milti hai.' The
song is aimed at the 'alhad gaon ki gori' or the innocent village belle. Durbar gives good
background vocal support to the lead singers Alka and Udit. Durbar also gives a good account of
himself as a composer.

'Ga - Tu aisi dhun mein ga' seems more like a filler, compared to the other tracks and though
the singing by Ayesha and Ismail Darbar, S. Shailja, M. Salamat and Kailash Kher is good the
best thing about the song is Javed Akhtar's simple and earthy lyrics. A composition that is
there to show that it is a Subhash Ghai film.
Even those who have a basic knowledge of good music will cherish the thumri number 'Kahe udaai
mori neend-O-Kisna' by Ustad Rashid Khan. It is a classic. Though one cannot compare it with
'Shubh din aayo' by Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan from 'Mughal-E-Azam', all the same the fusion
touches towards the end will make it appealing even for the present generation. The ghungroo
beats are well used. A classic piece of composition and extraordinary vocal's by Ustad and
Aisha conquers the higher octaves effortlessly.

'Wohi din aa gaya' by Alka, Hariharan, Aisha Durbar and S. Shailja is a marriage 'ched chad'
song while the bride gets ready. There are talks of applying 'mehdi' and 'ubtan' to make the
'dulhan'more beautiful, via Javed Akhtar's lyrics. However, there is an unmistakable
resemblance to the 'Nagri nagri duare duare ' tune from 'Mother India'.
Sushmita's beautiful voice speaks, "Jumman miyan, woh mehfil hi kaisi jisme dilwalon ke saath
diljale na hon. Tum dil se dilwalon ke liye gaana gaana. Diljalon ka khyal hum rakhenge". After
that 'Chilman uthegi nahin' follows.

The song publicized as a 'Mujra' is composed more in the 'Qawwali' (but to distinguish one has
to have some basic knowledge about Indian traditional music forms).

The Persian couplet - 'Man tu shudam tu man shudi. Man tanshudam tu jaan shudi. Ta kas nagayed
badazi. Man deegram tu deegri.' Meaning - ' I am you and you are me. I am the body you are the
soul. Now that after this, no one will ever say that I am different and you are different.'

Use of popular 'shers' like 'Khoob parda hai ki chilman se lage baithe hain and Saaf chupte bhi
nahin saamne aate bhi nahin' by Daagh Dehlvi will broaden the appeal base. All the singers
Alka, Sukhvinder, Ayesha, Kailash Kher Shailja and Rakesh Pandit are used beautifully and give
their heart and soul to the number. A masterpiece.
Javed Akhtar takes the help of the 'Vedas' to come up with the title 'Aham Brahmasmi' (which
means "I am Brahman or Sri Krishna"). Sung by Sukhvinder and Alka Yagnik, it is a devotional
song that will brighten the mornings of even the non-believers. The song has some 'Tandav'
beats and the repeated use of 'Kahe main mandir jaoon' is beautiful.

'My Wish Comes True' by Sunitha Sarthy, uses the Western Philharmonic Orchestra style and
Indian raagas and though it may sound as a fusion to the novice, it is not, as both retain
their individuality despite being blended. The overall result is excellent. Lyrics by Blaze are
adequate.

The Album closes with the chorus version of the best track 'Hum mile na mile' that should be
appreciated more, as it conveys the mood of the movie.

The music of 'Kisna' will grow with every subsequent hearing. The album can be summed up as -
An album which has some songs which are extraordinary, others excellent and the remaining good.
Store the album in a rack marked 'Evergreen Classics Only'.

Overall Rating: 8.5/10
