NEW DELHI: In a shocking revelation, the government has said it has no information in its records about the contribution of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose to India's freedom struggle.

The admission has come from a senior government officer in response to an application by Delhi-based Dev Ashish Bhattacharya under the RTI Act.

Bhattacharya approached the Union home ministry with five questions in which he had sought information on what role Bose had in the freedom movement. The applicant had also sought information whether India maintained any protocol with regard to Bose. "The information on points in your letter is not available in the records," S K Malhotra, deputy secretary in the home ministry said in reply to his petition.

thats what is happening and will continue to happen in our country. The congress after independence has made sure that it is only their leaders that the country remebers and others will be erased from public memory.
But they dont realise that people like bhagat singh and netaji lives in our hearts.

salutations to bhagat singh

salutations to netaji

Yep! Netaji and Bhagat Singh contributed to Indian freedom too. But the approach is very different from the Gandhian Ahimsa and may be that's why we don't have their names anywhere else stored.

People should be blamed, if they continue to vote for a party that doesn't even have the decency to recognize giants like Netaji. I wonder why ppl love this Gandhi aka mahatma. Wasn't he the person who supported khilafat movement, said hindus should surrender to muslims, and also blackmailed Indian govt. to pay Rs.5c to the Pakistani Govt.? All these activities amount to treason, so why is this nut being respected by the ppl of India?

Very easy to criticize the decisions of the past.
Conveniently we tend to ignore what situation prevailed then which must have prompted for such decisions !

Blaming Mahatma for everything is what our generation has learnt it seems ! Great going & understanding of issues !

Hi Nakeeran,

Perhaps, you could share with us your knowledge about the factors that forced the mahatma to do the things he did. Be specific, though.

Here are my specific qs:

#1 Why did he blackmail Indian govt. to pay Rs.5 c to pakistan?

#2 Why did he say, "Hindu women should surrender to the brave Muslim men" during khilafat movement, when hindu women were raped and murdered.

#3 Why did he NOT condemn Bhagat Singh's execution, when the whole nation was weeping?

#4 Why did he throw a tantrum, when Netaji won the congress president election fair and square?

#5 Whenever someone even within congress disagreed with him, he used to go on fast as kind of an emotional blackmail, instead of talking the matter through like civilized people. Why indeed?

There are many more qs, and we all hope you can clarify them. This is not an attack on mahatma, but qs that bother us greatly. Logical explanations welcome, no flaming, please.

Not only did he NOT Condemn! He made Bhagat Singh's Parents Appologize Publicly for the Actions of Their Son!
