these were great songs that didint get its credit,i think ARR is really fond on using Kisna;s track...he keeps on complaining in every interview it didint get used propaly....mabby he might use this...i hope :d

I listened to Water and I am sure ARR fans will call it breathtaking but its all rehash of earlier songs and the interludes are from tamil tunes. ARR should stay away from period movies, hindi movies and few "junk" directors in TFM.

yup that's true man.....ARR is one of his kind MD who has fans listening to both hindi and Tamil albums simultaneously.....so rehashing places him in a very bad light indeed.....whereas i'm for rehashing of songs like:

2.Yeh jo des hain tera ( swades- i feel so bad while listening to this song that it did not reach the masses)
3. Aapko mujhse gila (Tehzeeb)
4. Al maddath maula ( Rising) and many other songs which were killed in the movie....

Nic Arts Chakravarthy’s Godfather directed by K.S. Ravikumar featuring Asin and Ajit in a triple role seems to have died a natural “death by neglect” since it has been abandoned by all concerned. All attempts made by K.S Ravikumar and Ajit to complete the film have not worked out; all concerned have moved to other projects. Ravikumar is currently paying all attention on Silambarasan’s Saravanan, which will be followed by Kamal Haasan’s Dasavatharam for Oscar Films. Ajit had spend nearly 200 days for Godfather without getting any salary; now he has changed tracks and is doing P. Vasu’s Paramasivam followed by Perarasu directed Tirupati for AVM. Moreover, the actor has lost a lot of weight and even if he wants to, there will be continuity problems. Producer Chakravarthy has no funds to finish the shooting, and he has to settle bills of all amounts to various people. Heroine Asin is peeved that most of the scenes were shot using a duplicate (who is also reported to have walked out as she was not paid her salary!!). Hundreds of junior artists in Hyderabad have lodged complaints with their association against the producer for not getting paid. Something very rare and confusing has happened to actor Ajith’s life. He is between the horns of a bull, as his plans are getting a set back. Two of his films are ready for Pongal release. But he is not happy because this could lead both the films into disaster.

The actor wants to release his film ‘Paramasivan' on Pongal. This could come true, as P Vasu has already completed the film. But a new problem has struck his plans out of nowhere. Nic Arts Chakravarthi, the producer of his other film ‘Godfather’ has emerged after absconding for quite a while due to financial problems. Now, he wants to release the film on Pongal, as it is completed.

But both the films would welcome disaster if they hit the theatres on the same day. So, discussions are on regarding the matter. Now, Ajith would like ‘Paramasivan' to be released on Pongal and leave behind ‘Godfather’.

Whatever maybe, only a smart move could do a world of good to both the parties concerned. One should give way for the other, right?

Paramasivan for Pongal

After hectic discussions last week, the Tamil Film Distributors Association has given the green signal to release Ajith's Paramasivan ahead of Godfather that was also set for release this Pongal.

It may be recalled that Godfather went to floors almost an year ago and due to various reasons had a delay in completion.

Meanwhile, Ajith's Paramasivan directed by P Vasu went to floors a couple of months and was competed in a huff.

When there was a dilemma in releasing which movie first, the Tamil Film Distributors Association had a detailed discussion with producers of Godfather and Paramasivan and was it agreed to allow Paramasivan to have an early release for Godfather needed a few more days of for its completion.

Hopefully Godfather might release this March.

Golden Beach! The shooting of ‘Godfather’ is happening on the seashore. The film unit is working like crazy for a February release.


In the 5 day shooting, the artistes who participated were Ajith and Ajith (he does the dual role of hero and villain), Asin, Mansur Ali Khan, Ponnambalam, Ramesh Khanna, Manobala, stunt actors, Master Kanalkannan and K S Ravikumar.


Since the climax scenes were being shot, everyone was working at super speed. On the last day of shooting, villain Ajith is supposed to shoot hero Ajith. The hero Ajith was ready with a bullet proof vest. The dupe actor who plays the villain role of Ajith was supposed to shoot hero Ajith, who will jump a foot away and fall as soon as the shot rings out.


In spite of having undergone spinal operation, Ajith does these mini stunts without a dupe. For this shot also, Ajith did not use a dupe and jumped up more than required before falling down. Unfortunately, he got injured on his head and passed out.


The whole unit went into shock. The doctor was summoned immediately and Ajith recovered after first aid was given, but he was unable to get up. It took him 2 hours to get back to normalcy and continue to act. Ajith himself consoled K S Ravikumar and others who were extremely concerned and wowed everyone with his acting after the incident.


Like the phoenix, Ajith falls, only to rise again.

Ajit, Asin and hundreds of junior artists were shooting on the Golden beach on ECR for the climax scenes of K.S.Ravikumar directed Godfather.
Everybody involved was happy that the long delayed shooting was coming to an end. The scene being shot by stunt director Kanal Kannan, in which the villain Ajit takes a swipe at hero Ajit (He plays a triple role in the film as father, hero and villain).

The dupe for villain who was doing Ajit’s double accidentally knocked down our hero and the shoot had to be cancelled as Ajit was suffering from fatigue. A doctor was called to the spot and after two hours of panic on the sets, our hero was advised to take rest at home.

But Ajit the tough guy that he reported back to complete the shoot. Next day he left for Munnar to shoot a song for Paramasivan. Let us hope that the entire jinx associated with Godfather comes to an end as the film releases on February 10

I think it's a fake one, coz there are no details of the songs and as dinesh pointed out P.C. Sriram was out of the movie. Actually, I read somewhere that there are 3 cameramen involved in the movie. BTW the dubbing of Godfather is going on, Asin in her latest I'View said that she is in chennai for the dubbing portion.

After Ji released on 11th February 2005, the next film of Ajit was to be Godfather. This film is directed by Villan fame K.S Ravikumar and produced by S.S Chakravarthys Nic Arts, one the highlights of the film is the music director : A.R Rahman. The film was launched on 15th November 2004.

The film has Ajit doing triple role for the first time: a father and two sons who one is a villan. Such a big and new avatar for the Ultimate Star has made Godfather as the most awaited movie for his fans and for the hero too who wants absolutely a turning point which could break his irregular position on the industry. It was expect to release on April 14th 2005 challenging Rajinis Chandamukhi or Kamals Mumbai Express.

But troubles came to the unit : saying that he has finance trouble, the producer has several times stopped shooting and also absconding the city. Besides, he has made a complaint against Ajit to the Producer Association because he has decided to let his hair grow and got ready for the shooting of a new film with Bala, Naan Kadavul. The film didnt launch as Producers Association has decided that Ajit has to act in Godfather in priority and when producer has no funds, he may go to other films shooting and the other order is that Ajit had to cut his hair to look like as he was during the Godfathers shooting. As Bala wants a real get up from Ajit, he decided to postpone the film. In a meantime, Godfather was slated for a Deepavali release but nothing came : the film is again postpone. Ajit has profited to sign up for two new films, Paramasivan by P.Vasu and Tirupathi by Perarasu.

After a long pending time Godfather shooting resumed and the last schedules were shot during the first week of December 2005. Chakravarthy has again try to stop Ajit with his Paramasivan but when he went to producers council, he came back unsatisfied as the verdict is that Paramasivan may release on Pongal while Godfather may come later, on February.

The latest Info is that Godfather is slated for a Valentine Day release ( 14.02.06 ) and the audio should come in the middle of this month!!!! (90% sure). Almost after 15 months, Godfather is going to see the day. With Paramasivan, Tirupathi and a new movie for Deepavali 2006, Ajit is going to leave victorious among the heroes this year.

K.S.Ravikumar coming together with Ajith for the second time, has come up with a strong story of three people, all played by Ajith. One of those three central characters is a eunuch, the highlight of the movie. The other character has shades of the Marlon Brando’s role in the original English version. People who have seen the trailer of the movie swear by it. It has been sleekly cut and richly presented.

The sad part about Godfather is that it has been a struggle from the very beginning with interruptions and curtailments due to poor financial condition of the producer. It is said that Ajith and K.S. Ravikumar have personally invested some money on the project too. Ajith losing weight (18 kilos) for Paramasivan has complicated things more with one of the three roles being affected.

In spite of all these mounting impediments, K.S.Ravikumar has assured that the movie would be released before Ajith’s Tirupathi. On few investigations done and based on information from sources close to the director, it is likely that audio of the movie will be launched in the first week of February. All out efforts are being taken to ensure that the movie hits the screens by the last week of February. But with everything turning out to be uncertain about the movie, nothing can be assured. Ajith, SURE has returned with a bang. A movie almost more than a year under prodn is threatening now and seams interesting.

As far as teaser music is concerned, Couldnt predict much on the low quality. I havent seen on SUN TV yet. Shall check. Maybe the next trailor shud have some songs playing in it. Guys keep focussing on ARR's CRY, ping pong duet, carnatic song...

The first and also one of the highlights of this project is that 'Isai Puyal' A.R Rahman will direct the songs and background music for this film. This is the third time that he does music for an Ajit film after Pavithra and Kandukondain Kandukondain which its rights has been sold for a record price & Shankar Mahadevan has received a National Award for the best singer ( for the song 'Ennai Solla Pogiray' interpreted by Ajit Kumar ji ). For the lyrics, 'Kaviperarasu' Vairamuthu will pen all them.

The other and fantastic buzz is that for the first time our Ultimate Star Ajit Kumar ji will sing a song ( with his own voice !!!!! NOT CONFIRMED ).

The first song recorded and shot ( By cinematographer P.C Sreeram )is a duet with of course Ajit Kumar and Asin. This song is titled ' Kaatril Oru Vaarthai Midhandhu Vara Kanden', S.P Balasubrahmaniam and Sadhana Sargam gave their voices for the celebrities.

A.R Rahman will also sing a song. In the film, he gives his voice for the villain Ajit. This is a sentiment song and it is dedicated to Kanika who plays as the handicapped affected mother of Ajit.

Lately, Punjabi singer Sonu Kakkar joined the team of the singers. She is all excited about her first song with A.R Rahman. ''It was for a Tamil film called Godfather,'' says the 24-year-old woman. ''The lyrics were tongue twisters but it was an experience working with Rahman.'' Kakkar, who was introduced to Rahman by percussionist Sivamani, went in Chennai around the first week of July and spent two days there recording the song. ''He's really chilled out and cracks jokes all the time,'' says the Punjabi singer.

The audio album will contain 6 great tracks : most probably there will be an opening song, a theme music, a sentiment song, two kuthu songs, a melodious song.

The record rights had been purchased by the audio company Star Music Chennai & Distribution Rights bagged by Meta Music Chennai.

And the most important news is that Godfather's album in cassettes & Cds will be available from the first week of February 2006.

Today K S Ravikumar came on Vijay TV to promote Saravana. He was asked about Godfather too. He said the movie has come out really well. Ajith has given a splendid performance in all the 3 roles. When the interviewer asked him whether it is true that Godfather is coming out in February, he replied positive. But he also added with a tint of humour that he didnt say which year, to which the interviewers and KSR himself bursted to laughter :lol:

So usually if its on their hands, they would release it but if they dont then they are actually waiting for confirmation from India. For instance, Ghajini, Sivakasi, Aaru, Aathi has been released in Malaysia on the same date of its release in India. Which the audio company said its an order from India not to do it earlier though they are all ready with the audio.

Following the good opening for Ajith's Paramasivan, all efforts are being taken to get his long-pending Godfather to theatres at the earliest.

Directed by K S Ravikumar, the movie stars Ajith in three different roles and features Asin opposite Ajith. A R Rehman has composed the music.

The highlight of the movie is that four cinematographers have worked in this film. According to the director they have purposely roped in to give a different feel for the audience.

P C Sreeram, Vijay Milton, Priyan and debutant Chakravarthy have worked in the movie.

While songs were canned by one cinematographer, the other had shot flashback sequences, another the stunt sequences and the rest by another.

It is an innovative idea, which we hope would be reach out to the masses, says the director.

Paramasivan may have been lukewarm at the box-office and in most centres has been removed to accommodate this weeks five new releases. However the trade says that the film is a hit due to the fantastic opening it took. Distributors and theatres who paid MG were able to cover their cost and make a profit.
Post Paramasivan Ajit has bounced back as a hot star in Kollywood as the trade is supporting him in a big way. The recent outburst against Vijay for not refunding the Aathi loses has also seen the trade going all out to support Ajit.

New buyers are pestering the distributors of Godfather to sell it to them at a higher price even before the release! Suddenly Godfather which nobody was willing to touch with a ten foot barge pole has become hot property though it is still entangled in deep financial and legal hurdles.

The distributors and theatres are now trying to promote Ajit at the expense of Vijay. They feel that due to Ajit’s super opening, they will be able to cover the price they pay for the film and make a profit.

Ajit has now to be very careful and see to it that his films are not sold at huge price and incur losses to the trade. But in show business everybody from the star to the cycle stand attendant gets greedy and destroys the goose that lays the golden egg.

Ajith is tipped to do a movie with director Vishnuvardhan later this year. Buzz is that the movie has be entitled Savaal meaning challenge.

It would be an apt title for Ajith's film considering the way the actor managed to stage a comeback in Kollywood.

After a grand opening for Paramasivan, Ajith now pins all hopes on God Father, which is tentatively hitting theatres on 26 February. Next he has AVM's Tirupathi followed by director Bala's Naan Kadavul.
By this year-end, Ajith would commence Savaal that would have Arindhum Ariyamalum fame Vishnuvardhan wielding the megaphone.

Meanwhile, Vishnu has completed his Pattiyal starring Arya and Bharath and would be released this month-end.

After a film titled like that in Mollywood, and a remake in Bollywood now it is Kollywood to show the power of action and acting skills. This film was launched on the 15th November 2004. And all the cine industry were and is still surprised by the dream team which is composed. The film has a smell of a rebirth or revenge for the main leading artists who take part in it : The hero Ajit Kumar, the director K.S Ravikumar and the music director A.R Rahman. All them had spent a bad phase however their latest project are success (Paramasivan for Ajit, Saravana for K.S Ravikumar and A Aa for A.R Rahman)

After spending a irregular position in industry, Ultimate Star Ajit Kumar will soon to get the top of the stardom. His latest is hit Attahasam but the movie who really made him as the hot cake of cine industry is Paramasivan, a super hit in Tamil Nadu and overseas. So now with Godfather he is going to continue his strong coming up.

In this film, he plays a triple acting for his first time also it is the first time that an actor after Rajini and Kamal does more than a double acting. Ajit will indeed endorse the role of a father and his two sons who one plays the negative role, this one has a big hatred over his father and his twin brother. K.S Ravikumar reported many times that Ajit has simply given his best in this film, he excelled in the ability to shift from the different characters and director added that the film is going to be a blockbuster.

Though the film is much expected in the cine field, director Ravikumar keeps the story in suspense. After some inquiry by our team, we found that the story is revolving around the father Ajit and depends on him. The turning point of the movie will come in the interval when both sons Ajit will meet each other and then they will clash. The director told that the film has the right mix of romance, fights, comedy and sentiments and globally it came out well. Besides, we found that the film is a mild thriller. The film could have some shades of Manirathnam's Agni Nachathiram but with more powerful dialogues.

The other cast is composed by Asin who is becoming very busy these days and looks like to be one of the best heroines of Kollywood, in Godfather she plays of course as the heroine, a village girl with a naughty temperament; director K.S Ravikumar was impressed by his acting skills. Five Star fame Kanika plays as the mother of the two sons and so the wife of father Ajit, she is doing an unusual role for his first time: a mental affected person, a negative role; in the film, she aggressively wants to take a revenge on the father Ajit. It seems that she has excelled in it and could deserve an award. One of the best friend of Ajit in the cine field Ramesh Kanna, is also part of the cast, he plays a hospital compounder. Sujatha and Santhana Barathi play the parents of the hero Ajit. Ponnambalam, Mansoor Ali Khan, Vaiyaburi, 'Crane' Manohar, 'Cesar' Manohar, Pandu, Vijayan, Rajesh will also cast in the film.

For the technician crew, the best music director and best art director in India are present to make this movie the best. A.R Rahman has composed 6 tracks for the audio album and the background music. According to the buzz, all the songs are marvelous (for more details read the article 'Godfather audio details') .Art director 'Padmasri'Thotta Dharani has erected a fantastic dancing hall for classical Indian dance ( Bharathanaattiyam ) in Hyderabad and also a big set which cost around Rs. 2 Crores. The editor is K.Thanigachalam who was also in the Villain team, the story is written by the veteran R.Sunderrajan. Sundaram is directing the steps for the dance, one song is choreographed by Sivasankar and 'Kaviperarasu' Vairamuthu wrote all the lyrics. P.C Sriram was slated to crackle the camera ( he has already shot a duet song ) but for call sheet reason he has been replaced by Priyan, also Vijay Milton and new comer Chakravarthy handle the camera too. The producer of this film is S.S Chakravarthy of Nic Arts banner, this is the 9th time that Ajit and Chakravarthy join their hands. But for some reasons, it could be the last time that they do that. Also regarding this problem, Ajit was forced to not receive wage for the film and to finance a part of the production : Ajit should come in the crew as a co-producer for the film. And of course K.S Ravikumar is in charge of the dialogues, screenplay and direction.

The film is almost completed as the first song has to be shot during this month . Most of the shooting took place in Hyderabad ( Ramoji Film City )and also in Chennai, Kanchipuram, Mahabalipuram, Ooty.etc The trailer is currently telecasted on air in all TV Channels and Satellites and has already made an incredible expectations among the fans and audience. The audio will release on 17th February 2006 and the film will hit the theatres worldwide on the 24th February 2006.

Extra Bits :

After loosing many weights ( 14 kilos dropped within 3 month ), Ajit is all set to prove he is also a great dancer : In this movie, he is going to dance Bharathanaatiyam ( Indian traditional dance ). It has said that has excelled in it.
The house where the father is residing is wonderful : it has cost around Rs.2 Crores.
Ajit will do a role of a female, not a eunuch, but a traditional female dancer. It is just for one scene.
The father Ajit is a dance master.
Globally, Ajit would receive many claps and ovation for his mind-blowing performance.
This Godfather has no link with the American version The Godfather. KS Ravikumar has chosen this title because it fit with the character. It is not a remake.
The film, launched on 15th November, encountered many finance troubles. After many stories behind these, the film has resumed and has come very well.
The first song of Ajit takes place in a Marriage Hall.
The villan character has blue eyes (lens). Also he will appear as a policeman.
Milano Rodrigo ,a Indian tamil girl based in France will dance an item song with Ajit . She came 3rd in the “Miss India France” beauty.
The budget of the film is estimated around Rs.30 Crores : High Budget Movie.
The finance troubles of producer have been solved as actress Sridevi will make founds to finish the film, meanwhile she doesn't want her name to be published in the credits

Just one ‘Thala’ is enough to send the fans into raptures. Imagine, in ‘Godfather’ they will get to see ‘Thalai’ in the roles of father, son and villain! Direction is by K S Ravi Kumar, music by A R Rehman, camera by P C Sriram, so the people behind the scenes are also bigwigs!

P C Sriram is like another A R Rehman. If a film gets delayed, the music maestro usually gives the composing to one person and playback to another and escapes. P C is also like that. Since ‘Godfather’ has been experiencing hiccups every now and then, P C has not shot many scenes.

So K S Ravikumar has shot those scenes with cameramen Vijay Milton, Priyan and Chakravarthy – one for action scenes, one for romantic scenes and one for song picturisations. In effect, 4 cameramen are lending color to ‘Godfather’!

The film spans several years but the pace is supposed to be brisk. Ajith’s get-up minus moustache where he looks almost like a eunuch is expected to bring in tons of applause.

When the very ordinery ‘Paramasivan’ could do so well, the unit is positive that ‘Godfather’ will be a super success.

Katril song is excellent. And about Deepavali, I must say this song has certainly the feel of ARR in his 90s. Especially the usage of children among chorus reminds me of Kuch Kuch Rakkamma from Bombay.

All together, these 2 songs make it feel like ARR is back to his glory. The signature which was somehow not very visible in Ah Aah is shining like a star in these 2 songs from Godfather.

Just listened to both the songs.. didnt watch the video... Songs are ok ( I wouldnt say good or great).. The usual feeling you get on listening to a Rahman song at first.. Anyway, kaatril song starts pretty well but then the rythm keeps changing after SPB joins the song... Sadhana is very sweet in this song... repeated listenings might be needed for this song...
Deepavali song is a jolly song like strawberry kanne or Thirupachi aruvaalu or madras-i suthi pakka poren.. lyrics are funny and the tune is good... but its nothing new..

"innisai" raga may be a Hindholam or even Sudhadhanyasi. Mridhangam sounds louder than vocals. The singer sings like a Hindusthani type. Who is the singer BTW?

Teaser sounds really great :D . Lots of variety as usual from the Maestro! Sure chartbuster.

Kaatril : SPB & Sadhana. Both their vocals are simply soothing. A song which breaks all the basic rules how a melody-duet has to be with that sahiba chorus. Orchestra & Harmonium in BG.
Deepavali: Funny song. Needs some more listening. A situational one tho. Ajith & Asin on screen with kids(chorus). Awesome!!!
Theeyil : Arr. What more you need? The way he enters with that weird Heah sound! Grips you. Soulful lyrics. Completely a different rendition from ARR.
Inisai : Achil Vartha padhumaiyum neeye, nachil kidakkum karvamum neeye.mesmerises Innisai Alapadaye Amudhae Ilamaiyin Nankodaye. 3 perum velayadirukkangha yarunnu ketkareenghala ARR, Vairamuthu & Naresh Iyer. dhom dhom thana thana Is the ghatam by karthik.

iLamai has shades of 'yaakai thiri' but this could turn out be the hit song from the album..
Theeyil is a good tune but I dont see anything new in it..
forget ooh aah and deepavali.. the more I listen to deepavali, it get irritated with the song.. its a deva type song..
innisai is my pick of the album.. Thumburu, I think its based on hindholam too..
Kaatril is the second best song..

Overall, 3 songs are good and 2 songs are bad..

if someone can like this album after listening to 1 minute why not dislike? in general arr songs need multiple listen to like/dislike, but you will get a feel for it how far you will like and this is probably the worst in the recent years in TFM. Its above paramasivam/udaya and nothing great and no where close to his 90s songs.

Yes. Comparing to ARR recent work (Aa Aah, KKS, AE) this is way below (again my opinion, my friend didnt like AE at all but I liked it and infact its something new. Nenjamellam is one of my favorite song of ARR after WOHE chineese version song). For ARR fans I am sure this will "rock" just like any other album.

You think so? Interesting. My opinion is different :) The kaatril oar vaarthai song is stunning, at least to me. The mandatory ARR number evokes Dil se re euphoria, at least for me. The innisai aLabedayE amudhE will definitely be a hit. Add the other mass element numbers and I am not sure if the album would be below the others you specified, leave alone "way below" :) Just my opinion, I am not insulting you at all. I have this gut feeling that this album of ARR's will be a remarkable hit. Let us see what happens.

all of u guys... lets listen to the full song 1st b4 saying is bad... my dear fren, a song is 5 mins and with that 1 min [ which is only 1/5 ] u can judge a song is bad...thne i reallyt dunno la :? ... its so refreshing to listen to this kinda album after Ah Aah [for 1 whole year] which has that sjs taste :roll: ... Deepavali is very interesting... lyrics r really down to earth ... Sonu Kakar did a fantastic job... and my..her tamil sounds much better than Madhushre's :lol: .. the next song which i felt interested is that Innisai..i liked the arrangments allot...and im happy i have another 4 more mins to look foward in that song .. the part the female chorus appears, its really cool. this type of carnatic which is missing in the Anniyan song... gosh...see wut shankar missed !! 8-) the other way round,i felt Kaatril song is very plain/average effort from ARR.never loved it . wut eva it is.... "Innisai" (both remixes) sounds better than the original version. ILAMAI is a sort of opening number I guess, sounds OK, should give a couple of listenings. KAMMA KARAI is an item no. , has got some heavy beats, will surely be a hit with the mass. KAATRIL and THOTHAPURAM songs are amazing to hear. THEEYIL VIZHUNDHA is a slow song, will take some time to grow on us. As of now INNISAI really rocks!!! :thumbsup:
