While doing a Google Image search for pictures of the Bharatmata temple in Varanasi, I came across this website (http://www.columbia.edu/itc/mealac/pritchett/00routesdata/1800_1899/congress/bharatmata/bharatmata.html) which has portraits showing how Mother India has been imagined by various people in India over the past 80 years.
I was for various reasons quite touched by the one printed by the Ravi Varma Press (wrongly dated to 1930) and by the simplicity of the depiction in the Bharatmata Temple.
Are there any other depictions of Mother India which other hubbers like, or which you think capture the spirit of India?

Put in an image or two of Ramayana Bridge. It says much about history.

I like the Durga version.
Indhiya thai . Durgai amman. Perfect match.

That was a common association during the independence movement. It is a nice portrayal, and I like both the images which portray her as Durga (the VHP one and the last one) but I personally prefer the Lakshmi-like images of Indiya thaay. :)

Even I don't like the lion accompanying Inthiya Thaai. I think a mellowed down version like Saraswathi will make a nice portrayal too

That might be tricky, since there are those who claim that this is just an random rock formation despite all the Literary Evidence/The Date of the Bridge etc etc.
