yea.. those are very funny movies... more than that, some scenes in city hunter, shanghai knights, accidental spy, mr. nice guy would be much funny & humorous...
In the climax scene of mr.nice guy would be very humorous and unexpected climax. He came with very angry, but he never fight in that situation. Instead of that, he broke villain house.

Jackie ... the man who was another important bridge between China n Hollywood !
Lot of initial movies were just dubbed in English ... but now many movies being made with Jackie.... he is a very talented, risk prone artiste ...
the awaiting thing in every Jackie's movie is the last scene, where the names are displayed. ... where he shows all the mistaken shots, the risk and accident shots ..... nobody would miss to see that part in his movie !

i would say, CRIME STORY is the best police story ever seen in my life. Thats a real story took up from the police crime. wonderful concept, screenplay and direction.
its not a regular movie like him with comedy... The story ends up like a true police life... good one...
and "a new police story" is also a wonderful story of a police inspector. he received a best actor award in this movie.

Jackie Chan ! I have seen more movies by Jackie Chan than any other non Tamil actor. He is doubtlessly the best entertainers. I kind of lost touch after he came to Hollywood. Post Rumble in the Bronx - I've only seen the 2 Rush hour flicks and Who Am I. Not the most interesting.
The Police Story series are easily his most riveting but I like him better in the rural historicals (like Revenge, Challenge etc.). Some of the unbelievablly crazy stunts for Meals on Wheels. The scene in Twin Dragon where he jumps 'into' the window of a car is fantastic (as always we get to see the painful efforts in the end-credits )

let me recall.....is the building with the windows shaped liked stairs, if it is it's a great stunt NEVER to be tried  if you've seen the end credits in the movie, Jackie was gonna fall from the building, he was like holding his breath, he is risking his life doing his own stunts

Great "artist"! One of his kind. Was watching "Snake in the Eagle's shadow" with my 6 year old nephew recently, you wouldn't find the (age)difference in enjoying his craft. "Drunken master" I and II, Police story, Armour of God I (not as much with II), and his 80s films are my favorites.
I didn't like the American films. But quite recently, I watched a couple of films by Benny chan. Jackie plays a drunk and sober cop in The New police story and in Rob-b-hood, Jackie plays a low-life thief, unaccepted by his father (OLLO anyone? :P ). Of course, the drama is uneven in both the films. Who would want Drama any way in JC film? But I enjoyed him here than all his Hollywood potboilers put together.

[tscii:02ea11b443]Jackie Chan, Jaden Smith start 'Karate Kid' remake :D
BEIJING — Jackie Chan will play the wise kung-fu master in a Hollywood-Chinese remake of the 1984 hit "The Karate Kid" that kicked off filming in the Chinese capital at the weekend, a movie company publicist said Monday.
Chan's young disciple in "Kung Fu Kid" will be played by Jaden Smith, the son of Hollywood superstars Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, China Film Group spokesman Weng Li told The Associated Press in a phone interview.
In "The Karate Kid," Pat Morita plays the iconic building handyman Mr. Miyagi who trains one of his young tenants, portrayed by Ralph Macchio, into an accomplished fighter.
The co-production between the state-run China Film Group and Columbia Pictures started shooting Saturday in Beijing, Weng said.
"Kung Fu Kid" is being directed by Harald Zwart, who also directed "One Night at McCool's" and "The Pink Panther 2," Solon So, the chief executive of Chan's company, JC Group, told the AP.
Chan and Smith, along with Smith's parents and sister Willow, attended a traditional Chinese ceremony to mark the start of the shoot Saturday. Photos on China Film Group's movie news Web site show the Smith family and Chan holding incense sticks.
Will Smith — one of the film's producers — Chan, Zwart and others symbolically removed a piece of red cloth covering a movie camera, after which Smith gave Chan a hug, according to video posted on Chinese news Web site Sina.com. His hair done in a huge Afro and wearing a bright red track jacket and blue pants, Jaden Smith stood and waved when he was introduced. His father ruffled his hair when he sat down.
Chan said on his Web site he also attended the younger Smith's 11th birthday party last Wednesday, where he and Will Smith posed for pictures with young performers wearing red and yellow costumes with dragon patterns.
Ken Stovitz, one of Will Smith's partners in the production company Overbrook Entertainment, said at the ceremony Saturday that "Kung Fu Kid" will be set in modern-day Beijing. China Film Group chairman Han Sanping said shooting will last three months.
Chan juggles careers in Hollywood and Chinese-language film. The veteran 55-year-old Hong Kong action star will be seen in the upcoming the Hollywood action comedy "The Spy Next Door," about an undercover Chinese spy whose cover is blown, and the Chinese production, "Big Soldier," about the friendship between two soldiers set in China's ancient Qin dynasty.
Jaden Smith costarred with his father in the 2006 movie "The Pursuit of Happyness" and appeared in the 2008 Keanu Reeves sci-fi movie "The Day the Earth Stood Still."[/tscii:02ea11b443]

Never knew a Jackie Chan thread existed here. I have been a hardcore JC fan for years. I have nearly all his movies in different format, from VHS to VCD, DVD and even Blu-ray. He is the greatest action star ever. A true all rounder who can direct, write, sing, dance, fight and also act.

Welcome here Guess_Me. Another JC fan :cool2:
Which film of his you have in Blu Ray (other than recent ones) Any HD rips out there?
Guess_Me
12th August 2009, 10:29 AM
I only have The Forbidden Kingdom in Blu-ray. Other than that only two more movies of his have been released in the same format.
Shinjuku Incident (2009)
Accidental Spy (1999)
Didn't buy them yet. These Asian Blu-rays are pretty costly. They cost like $35 per movie while American movies can be bought for $20. I am waiting for a price drop.
But within the next couple of months, there is one JC set that is coming on Blu-ray that is worth any price tag. Yes, the ultimate Police Story Trilogy is coming in high-def format. Can't wait!!!
Regarding HD rips, I believe both Accidental Spy and Shinjuku Incident are available in 720p format.

The poll really surprises me on two things
1. Rush Hour leads
2. Omission of Miracles (Mr. Canton and Lady Rose)
Rush Hour sure is funny. But the quality of the movie is nowhere near his Hong Kong classics. This is bcoz in Hollywood JC is restricted in many ways. The production company wont allow him to do his own stunts. They always go by the book.
Stunt-wise Rush Hour (1999) was not exciting. Even JC's fall on to the long banner in the climax was doubled by a stunt guy as the studios won't let him take the risk. People said JC was afraid to do the stunt himself as he was like 45 that time. 5 years later he came back to his Hong Kong roots at the age of 50 and made New Police Story which featured 10 times the stunts he did in Rush Hour, all by himself. Thats JC.
Anyway Rush Hour leading the polls shows that people here are largely unaware of his Hong Kong classics.
And Miracles being omitted from the polls is a big surprise. It is my favorite JC movie and JC's own favorite among his works. You can watch the movie any number of times and won't get bored. Excellent comedy, melodious songs, rocking stunts and beautiful touching story line well executed by Jackie. His direction was splendid with top notch camera work. Making a period movie is no cake walk, that too set in the 1930s Hong Kong with people wearing long coats and English caps. Jackie did so well.
But the movie was a failure at the box office. It was the costliest movie at that time mostly due to rich sets. Also the set of a complete mansion that was built for Miracles, got destroyed in a typhoon which swept HK at that time. They had to rebuild the whole thing. All this contributed to the budget.
Still Miracles is the best all round movie JC made. Akshay Kumar's Singh in Kinng is a lame ripoff of Miracles.

Miracles is one of my favorites as well. The climax fight is awesome  But I felt the film was bit long

Armour of God II: Operation Condor (1991)
Jackie is sent by the UN to track down the gold buried by the Nazi's during WW2. Absolute entertainment for near 100 minutes. The street chase with Jackie in the bike and the cars chasing him was fantastic. In this film we have two different action scenes where the actresses are only with a towel. In the first one Jackie pulls the towel to distract and in the second fight scene the other actress pulls it off :rotfl:. The final 30-40 minutes and the fights were fantastic with the wind power machines :rotfl:. Enna oru creativity .

The Legend of Drunken Master (Drunken Master II) - 1994.
Fantastic fantastic stunts. The last fight with the Ambassador's side-kick was exhilirating. Jackie swallows petrol, falls on a heap of burning fire and does what not. Another note worthy fight scene is him and the other kungfu master fending off the Axe Gang at the top floor of a restaurant. Creativitykku oru alavae illa. To say the last fight scene was very quick is an understatement. It was lightning fast. Her step mother and father characters were a revelation. Jackie .

முதன் முதலா பார்த்த படம், The Protector
The Protector (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KTweTwVIdWQ)
படம் பிடித்துப் போனதால், முதல் முறையாக பள்ளி வகுப்பில் இருந்து கட் அடித்து விட்டு, இரண்டாம் முறையாக படம் பார்த்தது..

A comment from youtube:
One of the best fight scenes in movie history. What makes it great is that the characters all have an identity... Jackie vs. the "fast hands guy", then the "Kicking Guy". But there is also a story within the fight.
Jackie starts losing, then he figures out a way to turn the tables on the bad guys.
The current film directors need to learn this because lately the fights have been guy wearing black vs guy wearing black in the dark while they shake a camera.
Not acceptable.
The bolded part had me in splits :rotfl2:
