Last week we had reported how Surya and director Vishnuvardhan had decided to part as friends and not to go ahead with Sarvam. Now the hottest news is that they have once again decided to start work on Sarvam

They have come to an understanding that Sarvam will not be produced by Surya’s home production ‘Studio Green’ and instead, a producer of Vishnu’s choice will be producing the film. Surya will now work at his market rate and the producer will be decided in a day or two.

Hats off to Vishnuvardhan for sticking to his principles as a director and believing in himself and his script more than anything else. Remember that when he shook hands with Surya the entire trade and industry said that “Vishnu had gone crazy”! But Vishnu was adamant that he will do Sarvam on his terms even if it is with a newcomer!

Three cheers to Surya for being a total professional. He was willing to bury his ego and do Sarvam, a viable project which he had cancelled on flimsy grounds. We need more actors like Surya in Tamil film industry who trusts the script more than the glitz of stardom!

Now Sarvam will start rolling in the next 15 days as soon as all the final decision regarding the producer is taken. Meanwhile those who saw the stills of the Surya and Hansika in the photo shoot say that Surya’s ‘new look’ is awesome!

After Kaakha Kaakha, Suriya and director Gowtham Menon are coming together for a movie which is quite unlikely of Gowtham's action-packed thrillers.

Titled Udal Porul Aavi, the movie reportedly deals on supernatural thriller. Suriya dons a different makeup for the movie and is growing long hair for the role.

Along with Suriya, three new actors are making their debut.

Search for a heroine is on. The movie will have music by Harris Jayaraj.

Meanwhile Gowtham's Pachai Kili Muthusaram featuring Sarath Kumar and Jyothika is getting ready for release this December.

Surya seems to have decided on his next project after his tentatively titled Gautham Menon project, “Udal Porul Aavi”. He has also accepted to work with Vishnu vardhan for Sarvam.

The producer is being finalized. There are rumors going around the tinsel town that there might be a clash in the get ups that Surya is slated to don for both these movies. His looks in Sarvam are rumored to be totally different and stunning.

In the meantime, news is out that Surya is taking up Amir’s next movie, which is scheduled to take off on January 2007. Amir is now busy shooting for ‘Paruthiveeran’ with Surya’s sibling, which eventually ran into trouble owing to financial crisis. Amir ended up taking the movie on his own and it is reported that Paruthiveeran is on the roll now.

Amir’s movie with Surya is titled as ‘Kannabiran’ and the rest of the crew including the heroine, music director and so on will be decided upon soon, sources revealed.

Surya is doing a movie with ameer titled KANNAPIRAN tentatively. People would remember this name which was a rumour spreading through SMS that Ajit his supposed to act in a movie directed by Murugadoss in end of 2007 :lol:

Anyhow Kaaka Kaaka was good. Calling it a classic :? mmmm.... it had flaws.

No police officer uses terminologies like " Avana Podanum Thookanum" literally Goonda's usage were adopted for Police.

The officers are always in disguise i mean no uniform. First of all no police officer is allowed to have a gun in the belt as shown by all nonsense police stories without a special order. The Villian Jeevan deliberately escapes within the sight of Surya but still Surya cannot catch him during the fight in the building.


It was a terrific haunting story and a stellar performance from Surya no doubt but a serious story took direction towards selfish love oriented goal and with the same flaws with other police story cannot be termed as CLASSIC in my opinion.

The movie was however , beyond these , a terrific one worth watch ing as many times u want especially for HARRIS JEYARAJ, Surya and Camera-Work.

Deepika Padukone is turning out to be the fastest rising, most sought-after actress in the country. The actress who made her screen debut opposite superstar Upendra in the Kannada film Aishwarya was signed up by director Gautham Menon to be Surya’s heroine in his latest film Udal Porul Aavi.

However Deepika soon hit big time in Bollywood after Farah Khan signed her up to be Shahrukh Khan’ s heroine in Happy New Year which starts rolling in January. And once King Khan signed her, the flood gates were opened as she is likely to do a handful of films in Hindi with top heroes like Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan.

A source close to the actress says: “Deepika was gung-ho about this Tamil film under the direction of Gautham Menon, but as the film did not start rolling on time, and now her dates clash with Farah’s film, she is unable to make it.”

Now Gautham is on the look out for a new face from Mumbai. Meanwhile the buzz in Kollywood is that Asin met Gautham Menon and promised him bulk dates if she is cast in the film. And trade is putting a lot of pressure on Gautham to bring back the magic pair of Ghajini together with the foot tapping music of Harris Jayaraj.

But the grapevine has it that it will not be easy for Asin to replace Deepika as there is lot of undercurrents. Meanwhile a frantic search is going on for a new suitable girl to be Surya’s heroine.

Close on the heels of completing Ajith starrer Aalwar, producer Mohan Natarajan will do a movie with Suriya. Buzz is that director Hari would wield the megaphone for the movie.

Hari and Suriya worked together in Aaru (produced by Saran) last year and the movie had a decent outing in both Tamil and Telugu.

Hari had reportedly narrated a story to Suriya which had impressed the latter. The movie would go to floors after Suriya completes Udal Porul Aavi for Gowtham Menon.

Meanwhile, Hari is giving final touches to his Thamiraparani starring Vishal.

Suriya knows Hari very well and is confident of his ability. Hence it will be an interesting combination to look forward to.

Suriya is one of the rare actors in Kollywood, who strives for variety. Since Nandha, the actor has tried out variety of roles and has managed to make it big in Kollywood.

`Vaaranam Aayiram` is the title!

Gautham Menon directed Surya film is titled Vaaranam Aayiram . Earlier the local media had gone to town saying that the title was Udal Porul Aavi, but Gautham clarifies with a smile: “The title of my film is Vaaranam Aayiram and I just can’t figure out from where people have started giving titles to my film!”

The shoot for Vaaranam Aayiram (1000 elephant’s) will start on November 26 in Chennai. A huge press meet is being planned tomorrow (Nov 24 evening) at a star hotel in Chennai.

The heroine of the film is yet to be finalized though quite a few names are floating around. Basically, Vaaranam Aayiram is said to be an action film packaged as a thriller. Says Gautham : “I don’t want to speak anything about the film right now. But it is a youthful film”.

All Gautham Menon favourites like music director Harris Jayaraj, cameraman Ratnavelu, lyricist Thamarai, choreographer Brinda, editor Antony, art director Rajeevan and action director Stun Shiva are all coming together.

According to Surya: “Vaaranam Aayiram will take me to the next level. It is the most exciting story that I have ever heard after Kaakha Kaakha and Ghajini. Gautham is one of my favourite directors and once again he is giving me an awesome author backed role.”

Surya made it clear that it is not a cop story and the character is something that he has not done so far.

Gautham Menon’s ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’

The name of Gautham Menon, these days, has become synonymous to title muddle. His upcoming film with Sarathkumar and Jyothika in the lead was initially called Parundu, then changed to Silandi and was finally arrived at Pachaikili Muthucharam.

His next venture with Surya is titled Udal Porul Aavi with Asin as the leading lady. But according to Kodambakkam circles, this title may be altered to Vaaranam Aayiram. There is a possibility that the heroine may also be changed. Some sources claim that Asin was not Jyothika’s choice and hence may be removed from the film.
Meanwhile all the technical crew members remain unchanged. As some insiders point out, the new title ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’ may not be a permanent one and it may also undergo a change later. Anyway, let us wait and watch.

There is some kind of muddle between asin and jyotika on a personal level bcoz of Surya... Surya did not invite asin for the marriage party the next day :oops:

Mumbai model Andrea, who played the second heroine in Gowtham's Pachaikili Muthusaram, is cast as Suriya's ladylove in the movie.

Music director Harris Jeyaraj and art-director Rajeevan join Gowtham again. For the first time Gowtham would have Rathnavelu cranking the camera for his movie.

Suriya and Gowtham come together after Khaakha Khaakha. Expectations would certainly surge when the two team up together. This is the first movie for Suriya after his wedding with Jothika.

Varanamayiram will go to floors on Friday.

`Vaaranam Aayiram` is the title!

Gautham Menon directed Surya film is titled Vaaranam Aayiram . Earlier the local media had gone to town saying that the title was Udal Porul Aavi, but Gautham clarifies with a smile: “The title of my film is Vaaranam Aayiram and I just can’t figure out from where people have started giving titles to my film!”

The shoot for Vaaranam Aayiram (1000 elephant’s) will start on November 26 in Chennai. A huge press meet is being planned tomorrow (Nov 24 evening) at a star hotel in Chennai.

The heroine of the film is yet to be finalized though quite a few names are floating around. Basically, Vaaranam Aayiram is said to be an action film packaged as a thriller. Says Gautham : “I don’t want to speak anything about the film right now. But it is a youthful film”.

All Gautham Menon favourites like music director Harris Jayaraj, cameraman Ratnavelu, lyricist Thamarai, choreographer Brinda, editor Antony, art director Rajeevan and action director Stun Shiva are all coming together.

According to Surya: “Vaaranam Aayiram will take me to the next level. It is the most exciting story that I have ever heard after Kaakha Kaakha and Ghajini. Gautham is one of my favourite directors and once again he is giving me an awesome author backed role.”

Surya made it clear that it is not a cop story and the character is something that he has not done so far.

This is done basically to get a better mileage for their film. Following this well treaded path, Sivaji and Dasavatharam would be released in April and May. But now, there is likely to an addition to this list.

Vaaranam Aayiram, Gautham Menon’s next directorial venture with Surya in the lead is said to hit the silver screen by April 14th, the Tamil New Years Day. Since the vacation season would commence soon after that, the target audience which is the younger generation would make a greater impact on the collections. Having this in mind Oscar Films is planning their schedule accordingly. So the fans are definitely going to have a great feast this summer.

There used to be times when only 400 visas were issued from the American Consulate in Chennai per year. But in recent times Chennai has turned out to be the biggest producer of immigrants to the United States.

I am saddened by the fact that Indian talents in the filed of medicine and technology are no longer ready to take up jobs in India and are migrating abroad, stated Surya. However, on the other hand, the growth that our very own IIT is showcasing is remarkable, Surya declared.

Surya donated a lakh to the Kanchi Kamakodi trust that runs the hospital. He was seen interacting with the children in the hospital after the inauguration. The high frequency ventilator has been donated to the hospital by the Chennai based Cognizant Technologies.

I don't think so. I am not saying they should release this on the same day as other movies but they shouldn't delay this movie too much fearing the other two. I have faith on Gautham, he will do well. Technically too it will be great.

Surya's fans are a bit upset with him. The approachability and warm heartedness of the bachelor Surya is missing in the married Surya. Could Mrs. Surya be the reason?

Recently, the couple had gone shopping. A big crowd gathered outside the shop, mostly software engineers. After coming out, not only did the couple not acknowledge or smile at the fans, Surya even put on his threatening Ghajini face and made a rude gesture. The fans were understandably bewildered and felt insulted.

The day before yesterday, the couple had gone to Thirupati. After resting at the Devasthanam guest house, they went around 9pm to the temple. After their VIP darshan, they came out and were surrounded by fans.

Like in Chennai, they didn't even smile at the fans. Surya who smiles in the ads, shows a sombre face in front of his fans. This could turn against him any time.

According to history, even a ruler who does not respect his subjects will not last long.

Suriya and Manirathnam share a good rapport.

Suriya was introduced to cinema by Manirathnam's Madras Talkies through Nerukku Naer. It was Manirathnam’s Aayitha Ezhuthu which propelled Suriya to stardom.

As a token of gratitude, Suriya has agreed to dub for Manirathnam’s Guru in Tamil.

Suriya will lend his voice for Abhishek Bachchan in the Tamil dubbing version of the movie which also stars Aishwarya Rai, Madhavan and Bipasha Basu.

Rahman has scored music for the movie. Vairamuthu is penning the lyrics in Tamil.

Amidst his busy schedule, Suriya has decided to allot time to dub for Guru. It may be recalled that in the past, Madhavan and Aravindswamy have dubbed for other actors in Manirathnam’s movies.

Suriya is currently acting in Varanam Aayiram which is directed by Gowtham Menon. He would then act in a movie to be directed by Hari.

An eternal gentleman is Suriya.

Recently, Surya and Jyothika were spotted in a snacks shop in G N Chetty Road, T Nagar. They were shopping there for almost half an hour. Since such kind of news travels like wild fire, many people had gathered in the vicinity of the shop waiting to have a glimpse of their favourite icons. People who were working in a nearby bank and private firms had assembled in huge numbers.

As the crowd belonged to educated strata of the society, they waited peacefully for the star couple to come out of the shop.

Remember Ramya the Kuthu heroine who sizzled with Simbu and later with Arjun in Giri? Well, the buzz is that she has been signed up by director Gautham Menon to be Surya's heroine in Vaaranam Aayiram.

Bad luck Asin, you have lost out!

Ramya the Bangalore based girl after a failed attempt in Kollywood went back to doing Kannada films where she became the ‘numero uno’ actress. She went in for a complete make over after she shed weight and was paired opposite all top heroes in Kannada. Her films were all blockbusters and she is considered as the lucky mascot there.

But Ramya’s secret dream was to make it big in Tamil and now Gautham is giving her the big break. When the role was offered to her, she is said to have jumped at it and given priority dates.

On Wednesday, Ramya flew down to Chennai from Bangalore and did a photo-shoot with Surya in a Chennai studio. Now Gautham has two hot sizzlers Andrea and Ramya in Vaaranam Aayiram to provide the necessary glamour!

Suriya should be thanking his stars now. He not only managed to hold hands with his beloved Jyothika this year, the movie Sillunu Oru Kaadhal featuring Suriya and Jyothika has successfully completed a 100-day run all across the State today.

The movie produced by Studio Green was a mature love story. The timing of Sillunu Oru Kaadhal's release was also very apt. It released coinciding with the wedding of the two stars.

Director Krishna took a typical triangular love story and woven an interesting tapestry using the diverse strands of romance and affection.

The success should be attributed to the director who managed to get the fine print right - the everyday detail between a husband and wife, their anger, frustrations, their love, the quaint ebb and flow of their emotions.

He was also spot on in painting a very attractive canvas of youthful, college-campus dalliance between Suriya and Bhumika.

The movie had the backing of a team of experts - A R Rahman in music, Antony in editing and Rajasekhar in camera.

Krishna is a happy and contended man now. He is happy with his effort. Amidst gangster films with bloodshed, he wanted to differentiate himself from other directors. And he did it.

Krishna has made a beginning with a bang. More responsibility is on his shoulders to continue the good run.
