Today's Dinamalar had an article about Vijay's next Project. It was stated that his next movie is to be directed by Bharathan under Appachan's Swargachitra banner. The music is to be composed by Manisarma. The rest of the crew is to be finalised. It was also stated that the shooting would commence soon after the shooting of Pokkiri ends.

Swargachitra Appachan who was going around in circles for the last two years trying to make a film with Vijay, is now a relieved man.
Bharathan who was Dharani’s assistant and dialogue writer has worked out a script for him and the film is tentatively titled as Azgagiya Tamizh Magan,a very catchy title.

After Karunanidhi’s new policy of tax exemption for films with Tamil titles, lyrics from old songs from MGR classics seems to be the flavour of the season. Recently Gautham Menon had picked Pachaikili Muthucharam a popular MGR song as title for his new film.

Now Bharathan has taken Azhagiya Tamizh Magal from MGR’s Rickshawkaran, changed the gender and made it Azhagiya Tamizh Magan to suit Ilayathalapathi’s image!

According to Appachan, the shoot of this love story with action and sentiments will start from December and will release for summer 2007. It will have music by A.R.Rahman and Shreya is likely to be the heroine.

i am waiting for the official announcement since i want to see the name of Isaipuyal with Ilaiyathalapathy. Incidentally their previous project's director Azhagam perumal is my cousin. I was waiting for the release of Udhaya for a whole lot of years. But only after watching the movie, i understood that it was'nt worth waiting. Even before the release of the audio, i had heard three songs from the movie. Tiruvallikeni, Udhaya udhaya and enna enna. i thought they were going to be huge hits. but the delay in the release of the audio and movie spoilt everything. Appachan has a good track record as most of his movies are blockbusters. no idea about bharathan though.

We were the first to announce that Vijay would be doing Azhagiya Tamil Magan after completing Pokkiri. Now, we bring to you exclusive information about the pooja date for Azhagiya Tamil Magan which has music by AR Rahman and directed by Barathan.The heroine of the movie would be Shreya Saran (the heroine of Rajini Sir's current Shivaji)

The pooja for the movie is tentatively scheduled to be held on the October 20th at either AR Rahman's studio or at AVM studios. The movie is expected to kick off with a song recording.

The date is however subject to change according to the availability of the people concerned like Vijay, Rahman and others. However, we have accquired this news from the officials themselves. We are not responsible if the date gets postponed to a later date!

Now the two would team up for a movie titled Azhagiya Thamizhmagan. The movie features Vijay and Shreya in lead roles and would be produced by Appachan of Navodaya Films, who churned out Friends starring Vijay before.

Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay has many a bright feathers in his cap. All along he had entertained his fans through his lively acting and dancing. Singing is also one of his passions which he is not following stringently these days. In fact singing runs in his blood. S N Surendar, his maternal uncle is a trained vocalist and his voice rendered a new dimension for actor Mohan in his hay days.

Vijay’s mom Shobha also has released musical albums and has even given a full fledged concert.

Hence it does not come as a surprise if Vijay sings. But of late he has not been exercising his vocal chords especially after ‘Baby Baby’ in Kaadalukku Mariyadai. But much to his fan’s delight, Vijay is singing a number for his upcoming film Azhagiya Thirumagan. Readers may be aware that A R Rahaman is scoring music for his film after a long hiatus.

Vijay has been delighting his fans with the all aspects like acting, dancing and also singing. The song, Baby Baby sung by him in the movie Kaadalukku Mariyadai made him very popular as a singer too. This actually should not be surprising as his uncle S.N. Surendar had lent his voice for Mohan in the good old days and his mother has also given concerts and released music albums. Is Azhagiya Tamil magan a remake?

This season seems to be the season of remakes and remixes. On the positive side of this emerging trend, the film maker is able to bring in the latest style of narration to an old idea. But if this is overdone, is sure to give the movie goers a feeling that the industry is totally stripped of ideas. Bollywood can boast itself to have pioneered this idea in Indian film industry with so many remakes doing the round like Sholay, Don etc.


Now this fever seems to have gripped our Kollywood too. It has been widely reported in the media that the Rajni block buster of yester years ‘Billa’ is going to be made again with Ajith in the lead role. I have seen the movies mentioned in that blog post. The basic plot and leads come from Nicholas Cage's Matchstick Men (2003). Climax straight off Michael Dougla's The Game (1997).

Still it was a very enjoyable movie. For someone who hasn't seen those hollywood flicks, the ending will certainly be a shocking surprise.

Ilayathalapathy, who took a well deserved vacation to London and New York after the stupendous success of Pokkiri, is now back to Chennai. He has expectedly immersed himself into the shooting of his next film "Azhagiya Thamizh Magan" whose pooja was held on January 24th. The movie directed by Barathan with music by AR Rahman, is expected to be an August release.

Vijay, it seems, was very very impressed with the script narrated by Barathan that he immediately accepted to act in Azhagiya Thamizh Magan. Also to be noted is the presence of AR Rahman in this highly expected film. When Barathan narrated the script to AR Rahman, he was so impressed with the script that Rahman accepted to do the movie immediately without battling eyelids.

This is a very big news for Tamil movie fans as AR Rahman is known to be one who gives more importance to the script than the stars involved. This news of Rahman being so impressed with the script, speaks volumes of the script that is being prepared for Azhagiya Thamizh Magan. Everyone associated with the movie are raving about the script which they feel is going to be the highlight of the movie. Director Barathan has filmed some lively scenes of Vijay and Santhanam on sets of a colony, for 'Azhagiya Thamizh Magan.'


According to Vijay, the film will appeal to the young generation. He said that at Chennai's dilapidated Binny Mills. This place has till now been used only to shoot fight scenes, but for 'Azhagiya Thamizh Magan,' art director Maniraj has put up a beautiful sets of a colony. It would remind one of a Royapettah area.


Vijay, whose name is Guru in the film, has his trademark style and punch dialogues. Shriya is called Abhinaya in the film. Like other pretty heroines, her main work is to fall in love with the hero. Namitha does the role of Priya whose love for Vijay is totally one sided!


So, would her role be something like the vamp role of Reema Sen in 'Manmadhan'? The director prefers to keep that a suspense.


Usually AR Rehman takes his time to deliver his tunes. For 'Azhagiya Thamizh Magan,' he has straight away given a tune. When Barathan played it for Vijay, the star was all praise for Rehman's talent.

The team of Azhagiya Thamizh Magan have returned back to Chennai after a brief schedule at Karaikudi and Pollachi. Vijay has recorded a song for A R Rahman. The two have come together for Azhagiya Tamil Magan.

Though he has several numbers to his credit, it is the first time Vijay has recorded a song set to tunes by A R Rahman.

The movie featuring Vijay in dual roles is directed by Bharathan. Shriya is paired opposite him. Rahman has also lent his voice in the album.

Buzz is that Vijay has rendered a racy entertainer which is sure to rock the music-buffs.

Azhagiya Tamil Magan, a commercial entertainer, is fast shaping up for a release this Independence Day.

The shoot of the movie has been going on at a very brisk pace. The team had recently gone to Hyderabad to complete their shooting in the city where some action sequences and a few family sequences were shot. The team has now returned to Chennai where they will be continuing with the shooting. 3 songs have been shot so far.

Azhagiya Thamizh Magan's highlight is going to be the combination of the current Musical Maestro 'AR Rahman' and Ilayathalapathy Vijay. This combination has not had proper exposure at all. Udhaya was delayed heavily, and by the time it released, it was a dampener. It is said that Rahman is putting up quite some effort to make sure that he satisfies both the fans of Vijay and fan's of his own music (he has a huge fan following all over the world). Vijay is said to be very happy with the way the songs are shaping up. Special mention must be made of the opening song, for which Rahman is said to be coming up with a peppy and exciting folk type song that is sure to be a big hit with the fans of Ilayathalapathy. Also, lyricist :shock: Vaali is said to be re-doing the song "Azhagiya Thamizh Magal Ival" from the old movie "Richshawkaaran" and will be writing the lyrics to a fresh tune composed by AR Rahman :shock: .

[tscii:2308d84a81]The Madras High Court has granted an interim injunction and against the shooting of Vijay’s Azhagiya Tamizh Magan on a petition filed by Mohammed Farooq alias Raja of Grand Creations . The court also ordered issue of notice to Jeeva, story writer and producer ‘Swargachitra’ Appachan claiming rights over the story of the film.
Raja says that he and S.K Jeeva, who now claims to be the writer of the film had jointly written the script under the name 'Guru-Prasad' and wanted to produce it with Vijay. Later Jeeva narrated the story to Vijay who liked it and asked director Bharathan and producer Swargachitra Appachan to make it into a film.

However Raja found that without his knowledge, Jeeva had sold it to Appachan. He approached the Tamil Film Producers Council where the producer and writer promised him Rs 5 lakhs as compensation. They paid Rs 1 lakh and refused to pay the balance, and were trying to complete the shoot and release it by August 15.

So Raja approached the Madras High court, who has granted a stay on the shoot, production and distribution of the film for the next four weeks.

Imagine Vijay and Namitha dancing on the palm fringed powder white beaches in Phuket, against the backdrop of the calm blue sea?

ya in a way every song is a perfect winner. i just love the kaa gnaa chaa , aa aaah eee, so nice and matches with the song so nicely.

but dinesh, i can understand why ppl dont like this album. even for me i didnt like any song except anaarkali around the time it was released. just now i am hooked to ennuyir thozhiyae... duno why this is one of those rare ARR albums that take a long time to sink in because its so what should i call it? deep? same with songs in desam.. now i am hooked to those songs, when it was released didnt care about it much.

i am still waiting for an album with atleast 3 melodies in the league of snehidane, munbe vaa, and mayilirage and two beat oriented ones and an innovative one like style etc.

Pyramid buys ATM!

Pyramid Saimira Theatres Limited has purchased the world rights of Vijay's Azhagiya Tamizh Mahan (ATM), from producer 'Swargachitra' Appachan for a record price!

The market rumour is that Pyramid Saimira paid a whopping Rs 25 Crore, for the world rights of `ATM`, the highest ever for a Vijay film. It clearly proves that Vijay is the second biggest star in Tamil films, after the superstar!

Now if director Bharathan is able to complete the shoot of `ATM` by mid-September, the film will release for Diwali 2007.Pyramid Saimira with 241 screens in its control in south India, will make ATM the biggest movie for Diwali.

SJ Surya told in Kumudham once. When he asked ARR to remix Thottal poo malarum, ARR vehemently refused to do so. When SJS asked him again and again, ARR said he don't want to remix and he would change the tune.

So I don't think there would be any remix in ATM.

A R Rahman carved a niche for himself coming up with a retune for yesteryear MGR hit song Thottal Poo Malarum in S J Suryah's New. Now he is all set to repeat the act.

In his forthcoming film Azhagiya Tamil Magan, Rahman has retuned and remixed thespian Sivaji Ganesan's song Ponmagal Vandhal Porul Kodi Thanthal.
The song was shot in a grand set erected at the film City in Chennai on Tuesday featuring Vijay and Shriya.

The shooting for Azhagiya Tamil Magan comes to a close once the shooting for the song is completed.

Produced by Appachan and directed by Bharathan, then re-recording works for the movie would commence soon Plans are on to release the movie for this Deepavali.

Looks like the word Sivaji has quite a connection with Vijay's next film Azhagiya Tamizh Magan. First Shriya who became popular with the recent blockbuster film 'Sivaji' was signed to play the heroine of Azhagiya Tamizh Magan opposite Vijay.

Now, a superhit song from Nadigar Thilagam Sivaji Ganesan's hit film "Sorgam" is being re-tuned for Vijay's Azhagiya Tamizh Magan. The song "Ponmagal Vandhal Porul Kodi Thandhal" has been re-tuned by AR Rahman and was picturized on Vijay and Shriya in a grand set erected in Chennai. The shooting for the film was wrapped up after the completion of this song, and post production work (dubbing, re-recording) will be started in the coming days and will go on in full flow.

The audio of the film is scheduled for release sometime early in October although the official confirmation date is not yet available. The audio of the film has tremendous expectations with Vijay and AR Rahman coming together after a long long time, and also rumors have been floating around that the songs have come out in brilliant fashion and will become huge hits after the audio's release.

It seems like a long time since Sivaji songs were released, however, they still generate frenzy among the music lovers. Pronouncing a comeback of sorts in Tamil movies, Rahman proved why he is still sought after with those songs. The maestro is busy these days scoring tunes for the upcoming Vijay-Shriya starrer ATM. Inside sources state that Rahman’s rip-roaring music for ATM is sure to become a rage as soon as they are released.




Besides ATM, as it seems, there is an impressive line up of movies that require the genius’ rendition.

Of the only other two projects Rahman seems to be working on in Tamil so far, producer Dhanu’s Sakkarakatti is progressing. Rahman seems to have been bowled over by the plot and bought additional time to spend on the score. Which means, soon enough, yet another chartbuster is on the cards. Gowtham’s mascot Harris is being replaced by Rahman for his next venture titled Chennayil Oru Mazhaikkalam. Touted to be a musical entertainer, this movie focuses on the life and times of an IT professional, which means both stylish and very contemporary.


That apart, down South, if reliable sources are to be believed, Rahman will score for the Pavan Kalyan starrer Puli directed by S.J. Surya. Puli is also associated with some of the bigwigs of the industry including Camera by renowned cinematographer Ravi K Chandran.

Rahman’s major Hindi projects include the Aamir Khan – Asin starrer Gajini directed by Murugadoss. He is also associated with the epic movie Jodhaa Akbar, directed and produced by Ashutosh Gowariker that stars Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai. Rahman’s music for Jodhaa has raised the bar among his fans and critics alike for the story revolves around the great Mughal Emperor Akbar and his Hindu wife Jodhabai


On the cards is also Delhi 6, directed by Rakeysh Mehra whose previous successful venture with Rahman include Rang De Basanti that was also nominated for the Oscars. Besides, Rahman is also talked to be scoring Yuvraaj produced by Anil Kapoor and Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na directed by Abbas Tyrewala and produced by Aamir Khan Productions and PVR Cinema.

On the whole, fans are in for a big treat the latter part of this year, Rahman style.

Vijay's Azhagiya Thamizh Magan is fast nearing completion. Directed by Bharathan, the movie features Shriya opposite Vijay. Produced by Appachan, the highlight of the film is the musical score by A R Rahman. The movie is about a youth possessed by ESP (Extra Sensory Power).

The latest buzz doing rounds is that the movie would go to Telugu soon.

Popular Tollywood star Mahesh Babu has expressed his desire to the Telugu remake of the movie.

It may be recalled that films starring Mahesh Babu like Okkadu and Pokkiri were remade in Tamil starring Vijay.

‘Swargachitra’ Appachan the producer of the film is waiting for A.R Rahman, who is now abroad to come back to Chennai for the audio launch of the film . Appachan wants to make it a major event, that will kick start his publicity for the Diwali biggie.

All top theatres in Tamilnadu are giving preferential treatment to ATM, as they feel that there is no real opposition to it. Vijay fans now have a reason to rejoice as their Ilaya Thalapathy’s much-awaited Azhagiya Tamizh Magan is going to hit the screens on Diwali. The film happens to have generated enough curiosity as it marks the coming together of A R Rahman and Vijay. Though the pair had worked together earlier for Udhaya, it did not create an impact due to its delayed release.


ATM on the other hand has been announced with much fanfare as Vijay pairs up with Shriya for the first time. And this is her first release after Sivaji, which has gone as per schedule. The final cut is being readied and theatres have also been blocked. The movie’s brisk pace is evident from the audio release date, which was announced recently. Rahman who has scored all the tunes and the audio is to hit the stores on 15th October. They have got their timing right! With just three weeks ahead of its release in theatres, it is just about enough time for Rahman’s tunes to grow on its listeners. The movie has five songs and sources say Vijay has crooned a number for this movie; the release of the CD’s should put an end to all this guessing!

There are reports coming in that ATM is finding it difficult to hit the screens for Deepavali, the reasons cited are delay in re-recording by A R Rahman. However, against all odds, the team seems determined to get the movie ready on time for the festive season. Their only competition comes in the form of Vel, with Billa getting delayed, they definitely don't want to let go off this opportunity.



Pyramid Saimira has bought the distribution rights for this movie and are eager to see a Deepavali release; they have also bought the Tamil dubbing rights for the Shahrukh Khan starrer Om Shanti Om that is to hit the screens on Deepavali.

Pyramid is planning to release the dubbed version of Om Shanti Om alongside the Hindi release with 40 prints all over Tamilnadu, banking on the fan base Shahrukh Khan enjoys in Tamilnadu.

So is Shahrukh going to be a poser for ATM? "Of course not. This is a move to make the most of the festive season. The audience sectors for both the movies are quite different and shouldn't interfere in each other's way", says a trade analyst.

Well, who wouldn't like to see both – the Bollywood Badshah and the Kollywood Thalapathy create some fireworks this deepavali.
